The alien stood motionless, continuing to glare at you with its dark, unwavering eyes. You realize for the first time it's clutching some sort of metallic device in it's scaled claws... However your attention is snapped away from the machine as the alien lets out a series of vicious hisses and clicks. It looks down at the device in it's hands, then back up at you- still frowning and hissing with each breath. What should you do...?

        1) Body language didn't seem to work but what about actual language? While the alien kept on clicking and hissing, that didn't mean he didn't understand... right? You suggest trying to explain the whole stranded alien situation with the most basic English possible.

        2) The alien seemed to be growing more and more aggravated, and you weren't taking chances. You notice out of the corner of your eye that the alien is standing next to an untriggered booby trap, and remains too distracted to notice it. If you can get him to take a single step backwards, he'll be in for a nasty spill... but chances are he won't be conscious to stay awake afterwards.

        3) IF SOMEONE HAS A FLASHLIGHT, thinking quickly you suggest taking it out, removing the glowing power cell from inside and holding it out to alien. Maybe the device in his hands was out of power...?

Why was the damn thing frowning and hissing at them? Scottie was trying to show that he meant no harm.

Then again, he hadn't attacked him yet. He supposed if the alien actually had a problem with them and their presence, he would have pounced by now. And why would he pounce him? He was an alien. That was just silly. Of course the alien wasn't bothering Scottie.

Was something else going on, then?

Speaking at him wouldn't do any good. He could try to make sure his voice was inflected properly, but if there was anything he had figured out from his year of stumbling through English, it was that languages were silly and that slightly mispronouncing once thing could lead to a world of shouting and pain--don't let him tell you twice about the differences between the words as and a**, something he didn't really thoroughly understand until he attempted to articulate.

Scottie bit down on his lip, watching the alien as he played with the object in his hands once again.

After a moment, he got an idea, turning towards Adelina and gesturing towards the flashlight he was holding. His accented tone managed to slip from his lips, words short and sweet as he preferred to keep them. "I think explained will not work with him." He gestured to the man, before pointing to his own lips.

"He is having problems with the machine. Try giving him the battery from the ... glow stick?"

(Scottie thinks Adelina should hand over her flashlight battery! Option 3!)

The alien didn't seem to understand their waving, and Adelina looked to her ragtag group of friends to see if they had any suggestions. The boy that had four eyes (among other things) suggested giving him the battery from her flashlight to give.

"Oh, that makes sense! Give me a second."

Adelina nodded to the alien boy, and unscrewed the bottom of her flashlight to get out the glowing power cell. It was warm in her hands and she lifted it up to show the aliens.

"See if this helps, okay?" she called, and held the cell out flat, toward the alien. "It powers things!

Adelina chooses option 3!

If Hack were slightly braver, he would've marched right up to offer his services; that thing looked like it could do with some fixing. But the kids seem to have this under control. Hack found it odd that the... fishy, kid, couldn't get through to the other guy? They looked to be a somewhat similar species... well, that's what you get for not listening in Extraterrestrial Beings and Outer Space class.

But what if... that device was really a weapon? Hack highly doubted that an earth battery could power alien technology, but was he willing to take his chances? The fellow's continued hissing was starting to put him on edge. Perhaps incapacitating him first would be a safer option? But the girl was already taking the battery out from her flashlight...

The technopath bit his lip, torn. Stop her? Activate the booby trap behind the alien? But that might just escalate things instead of bettering them.

So it was with great reluctance that Hack allowed the smaller girl to give the alien the battery. He tensed, ready to pounce if the snake dude tried anything funny to his kids.

(Hack goes for 3 too baw)

User ImageThe reptilian alien narrowed his dark, dilated eyes on the batteries that were being held out towards him, then flickered his attention back and forth between the humans standing before him. Quickly making up his mind he reached out, hesitantly accepting the power cells that were offered out by one of the rookies. Even with his scales and unfamiliar alien features it was obvious to you that he had an expression of doubt painting on his face- how likely was it that the human batteries were going to be compatible with his device? Still, he flipped the small metallic box over, opened a small lid, and fidgeted with the contents for a moment. Small pieces of plastic and wire fell to the forest floor as he scratched and fiddled with the back of the machine with sharp nails. With a small wince of anticipation he popped the batteries in, and flicked a small switch on the side of the box.

A ear splitting whine came from the box, but the alien quickly adjusted various knobs and switches and the background noise of the translator was brought down to a soft static whirr. The alien opened it's mouth once more, but this time the seemingly aggressive clicks and hisses have meaning as the box worked it's magic. "Chello," the alien began- eyes lighting up as he realized the machine was working, albeit not entirely properly. The alien seemed oblivious to this, and continued on. "Ve char looking for chudents. Nova Acadechmy. Peachful. Peachful..." He repeated that last word, 'peaceful', making an open gesture with his arms to prove a point. He already seems to have gathered that a member of your team is from Nova Academy, and you have a brief discussion explaining the jist of the situation. The alien requests to be brought back to Sidekick Academy, and your team is more than happy to oblige.

The sun was beginning to set over the waterline in the distance, reflecting a warm bright orange light. It was getting late, and at some point the warning sirens had stopped wailing- although they still rung painfully in your ears. Your bodies ached from the long day of running around, and you were thankful to be heading back to the Academy. You lead the alien back to campus, escorting him safely back to Sidekick Academy, chests welling with a sense of accomplishment. The first thing you do is lead the alien to HQ, strolling in with pride as you hand her off to the Founders. They promptly thank you, and with a brief apology ask you to wait around for a bit and whisk the alien off to a back room. While you wanted nothing more than go get a meal and pass out, you stick around as instructed. Besides, who knew what interesting things were about to go down?

Once more we'd like to apologize for the delay in wrapping up the CYOA, and thank you for your patience! The long overdue final posts for each of the individual teams are now up- you are free to roleplay in these threads if you would still like. An event conclusion post, along with prizes, should be up within the next week or so. Thank you for participating, despite our hiatus we hope you had fun!
