This was going to be a long night, he determend as he watched the boy try his hardest to get a spell to work. As he listened to the boy, he recognized what he was trying to do and shook his head; it wouldn't work on inanimate objects. The dark-haired boy grabbed his own wand and pointed it at the pieces. "Epoximise."

Nothing -appeared- to happen. But when Jericho reached out to pick up one of the pieces experimentally - a tube segment of the telescope, his pale eyes widened. The underside of it was stuck fast to the carpet bottom, stretching the fabric as if it were made of chewing gum.
"Uh...epoximise...?" he asked, looking back at the spell-caster.

Well that didn't go as he thought it would. "It's supposed to fix things. Like super glue," Damien told him, looking at the tube again, "I didn't know it would do that."

Jeri couldn't help it. He had to smile. Shaking his head, he went back to the foot of his bed and opened his trunk as quietly as he could to fetch a spell book. Damien seemed to have had the right idea, but it hadn't exactly been the spell for the job. The one they really needed had escaped Jeri's memory. Oh...there it was. "Reparo," he whispered, directing his wand at the broken lenses. They immediately pieced together - but the tube and other parts of the telescope remained stuck to the carpet. The boy shrugged and didn't know whether to laugh or sigh in defeat. Maybe it was a bad idea to go this night after all.

Jericho's idea worked much better than his had; at least now the glass was off of the floor. Still, how were they going to get that tube and the other parts unstuck from the carpet? Damien looked down at it and gave a yawn. "We can fix the rest in the morning and you can try again tomorrow night," he suggested.

Jericho looked at the brunet helplessly. He -always- stayed awake - it was the morning he slept during. Jeri was an absolute night owl. Besides, tonight was the new moon and he wanted to see if he could spot it. Were they really going to give up that fast? And worse, what if their head of house found out? He might get his telescope confiscated for using it at inappropriate hours! Suddenly the pale boy was in anguish. He got up and gave the book to the darker-haired boy. "You did it," he said. "You can undo it."

"Listen," Damien replied calmly as he gave another large yawn, "It's late and we're lucky enough that the head of house hasn't heard all of the racket. If you want to go watch, just go without your telescope. Or go back to bed and wait until tomorrow"

"You did this," the boy repeated. This time it was more pleading. "Tonight's special." He knelt and placed his hand firmly on the case which had previously held all the parts. "...Please?"

"I can't," he told him sleepily, "I can fix it it the morning. Would you rather me make it worse by not being able to concentrate?"

Jeri took a final glance at the yawning boy, sighed, and stood. With a final, reproachful look cast Damien's way, the pale boy left the dark-haired boy with the mess and headed out. He wasn't going to miss this night; not when he would have to wait a whole new month for the next. Thankfully it wasn't a comet or something that only happened every few hundred years.
