Maia smiled and tried her best to answer the question. She was not a fighting expert and no martial artist, so finding the words to explain wasn't always easy. "Yes and that can badly effect your balance, but obviously momentum is need to but force behind hits. I'm not expert, I will admit that. It's all a learned process even more me, with much trial and error. Movement is just something I found a bit easier since I've danced most of my life. As for getting close to somebody without running, I wouldn't worry about that. Unless they don't want to fight you probably wont have to worry about how close you are to them."
"Alright, you ready," Maia asked waiting a second in case Cybele wasn't ready and charged at the girl attempting the move she had done the way she did it, though purposely staying on her feet though she nearly tripped. Cybele after all was suppose to be trying to counter. If she didn't Maia could possibly run right into her.stari_maga Sorry its short, explaining fighting stuff, not 100% my strong suit ...

Cybele managed to dodge the awkward punch-shove. It wasn't hard. All she had to do was step out of the way and watch as even the more graceful senshi stumbled. Not that dodging made her feel so much better, as the attack had been her idea first, but at least she'd learned something. "So, charging is a bad idea, generally?" she asked with general curiosity after giving Maia a second to regain her balance. She stepped forward again as she tried to analyze the move, but she wasn't good enough at fighting to see how it affected balance or anything. The only thing she could tell was that the move didn't see at all useful. She turned to the other girl for advice. "Ok. So, is there something I'm supposed to learn from this, or am I just supposed to not do it anymore?" After another, smallish, step forward, Cybele got into the fighting position again and said, "I liked the normal punch more, anyway. I'm going to try that again, ok?" Making eye contact with Maia, she gave her a moment to prepare before throwing yet another punch at her face.

Maia frowned slightly, feeling like she was getting Cybele more confused and not less confused. She was learning to, and in the months following their encounter she would learn to give better direction, but right now obviously she needed work with it.
"I think I've got you turned about. No charging, isn't a bad idea exactly, but I guess it just shouldn't be combined with a double fisted punch as its just a little harder to accomplish if you don't know what your doing. Yeah, thats probably the best thing to take from the past five minutes." She gave a small laugh and shrugged.
She nodded when Cybele mentioned the normal punch and got ready to resume the spar. She wasn't the least, bit surprised at the punch aimed for her face and was able to dodge it to some degree. It make contact awkwardly with her shoulder and she stumble back a step or two.
"Better," she said fist raised and ready to continue, "remember step into your punches." She decided to demonstrate taking a few quick steps forward and aiming an open hand shove at Cybele's left side.

"True," Cybele agreed. "I don't think I'll be trying that move ever again." She smiled, honestly smiled. She probabally wouldn't have used it in a real fight, anyway. She was just tired of the same move, and it had been somewhat amusing at least. Now it was time to get serious again. She tried to gracefully evade Maia's shove and failed. At least it seemed her stance was a bit better, as she only stumbled a little and didn't wind up on the ground again. She beamed at the other girl, feeling pretty happy about it. She hadn't just learned something silly, she'd learned something important as well, even if she wasn't perfect at it yet. "Ok. I know what to not do, so now I just have to figure out what to do." Hitting was probabally the most important thing to know how to do, and she was trying. "Step into the punches? Ok, I'll try." She met Maia's eyes for just a second, then tried stepping into the punch and using the momentum to strengthen it. This one was aimed a bit lower, at her shoulder.

Maia nodded and continued to smile, even though it was a spare and Cybele was learning how to fight, so to speak, things were very informal. Even when she shoved the other girl she had a smile on her face. She was very proud to see that Cybele also did not connect with the ground once more.
Maia continued to nod at Cybele question about punch, "yes, step into the punch to give it more force."
Maia didn't really try to dogde the punch wanting Cybele to know what she was talking about, to feel the oomph of a punch she stepped into. Did that make sense? Maia wasn't entirely sure, but she was sure of the the sting she felt when Cybele's fist connected with her shoulder causing her to stumble a bit.
"That good, just like that," she said rolling her should and taking a stance.

Well, that had gone much better. Cybele's smile widened at the 'good.' Maybe she could do this, the fighting thing. At the very least it showed she was able to take advice. She stepped back and paused, more to make sure that Maia was all right than anything else, which seemed to be the case. "Ok," she said, which seemed to be what she was doing. She was smiling and nodding just like usual, and it was working out for her pretty well in this case. "I think I get it." This nodding seemed to be legitimate, at least. "So... again?" she asked, but didn't wait for an answer. Instead, she punched. Now that she sort of knew what she was doing, and that it probabally wouldn't hurt the other girl, her hesitation had faded.
