" I will ask the questions of your friend here once we're under the water, since the only thing I need at this particular moment are directions to this creature who you seek." He shrugged "I see no reason not to at this point, now that you have made me curious about this character. After all, you've come all this way and you have even supplied your own kelpie to assist me."
He raised an eyebrow at the mention of compensation "Such as?" His other eyebrow raised to join it " Deep Sea Dolphin? That's an...interesting name. But I've never heard of her." He was skeptical about this whole thing, but it was important to know if some powerful creature lurked within his watery kingdom and even if, as Xelloss said, they got along with one another, he would have to tell his mother of his findings.

This had all gone... surprisingly quickly. Xelloss was glad not to have to go through verbal acrobatics for once. He considered kelpis to be somewhat kindred spirits to kalona. They were known to cause all sorts of trouble for anything that walked on land and the shark-like teeth that many of them sported added a bit of believability to the tales.
"Oh, we can offer a wide variety of things to our exceptionally helpful allies. Gold and human treasures aren't too hard to come by where we are, or we could find something more specific for you on the land if it's somewhere that would dry out your scales." He let his fangs show at the next suggestion. "Or, we can help you with your enemies. I'll leave you to figure out exactly what that means." Xelloss was aware that he only spoke for himself and not any of the other mazoku in their clan. That wasn't a problem. He trusted in his ability to get done whatever the kelpi might ask for.

He stared at Xelloss for a moment, it was difficult to tell when a Kalona was being genuine or not. Showing these strangers something he had no knowledge of in the deeps of his kingdom could not do he or his kind any harm. At least it didn't seem that way. " I'm sure you can." He replied cooly, nodding his head " I will think on what you may do, after this is done." His kingdom lived by a strict code of rules, and were generally peaceful, but woe to anybeast who thought them weak. He was not worried. " Very well then, I will take your friend here down to the deeps an she can find your Deep Sea Dolphin." He smiled, and the smile was full of needlepoint fangs " I'm sure it will be an interesting trip with an even more interesting outcome."

"Oh, it will become exceptionally interesting if you find her." Even though she had been gone for years, rumors still abounded about Deep Sea Dolphin and her habits. Xelloss highly doubted that she was insane. He doubted even more that Beastmaster had driven her insane. Even so, such theories were persistent. He had no idea what her mental state might be after years of isolation.
"But, thank you." Xelloss favored Barinthus with a look of sly appreciation. If this worked out then he might consider doing more dealings with the kelpi prince in the future. He was an ally with great potential, and Xelloss liked to use every resource he could.
"Lavinia knows how to send word to me. Feel free to do so if you encounter any problems... or any new information."

Barinthus gave him a skeptical look, whatever this one was up to, it wasn't really his concern or the concern of his mother. Whatever happened, it would not effect things in his mothers kingdom or things with his other delegates, and thus, it was not a hinderance to assist this one in his search.
" You are welcome friend Xelloss." He replied curtly " We are always welcome to friendly communication between our kinds." His gaze slipped from his to the kelpie mare beyond him " Lavinia is it? Well then, lead on, we have much work and much swimming to do before we find this Deep Sea Dolphin you seek."
His ear fins and tail flared in a sort of salute to the kalona and then he turned towards the sea. " The day is waning and the sea is dark. Good deals to you Xelloss." And with that, he began to walk towards the sea. The hunt just begun.

"Happy hunting," said Xelloss, smiling after them.
That had gone as well as could be expected. Barinthus was convinced and Lavinia was off. They would either find Deep Sea Dolphin... or not. Either way, it was a relatively small amount of time invested in something with potentially huge impact. Xelloss knew well that small actions could be the catalyst to world-changing events. He didn't sense that sort of fate here, but he had been wrong before. Either way, Barinthus was proving to be an ally with great potential already. Xelloss had no intention of trying to cheat the kelpi prince. Genuinely useful people deserved to be treated respectfully.
Turning away from the water, Xelloss took to the air again. He had no reason to linger in this place. Curiously, he looked forward to hearing word from the underwater adventurers, though he knew it would not be soon. Until then, he had other things to do.
