A clicking signified the unlocking of the front door and moments later Winterlynn was opening the front door to her apartment. As the door opened and was bumped closed, with her right hip, the dark haired female set her pocketbook and keys down on the small table waiting to receive both items. Her hands freed up she set about unbuttoning her coat and toeing off the heels she wore for work. Those two things down she made her way to the small coat closet near the door. Opening the closet she grabbed a free hanger and hanging up her coat she closed the door and headed further into the apartment, the living room, and made her way to the kitchen. The short black jacket she wore for work came off in the living room, on her way to the kitchen, and the tv remote was picked up and the tv turned on just as she made it into the kitchen.

From the kitchen she could hear, and if her back weren’t turned toward the living room see, the news talking about some recent terrorist act. “Always with the terrorists. Why does the government not get involved, it’s obvious the cops are incapable.” Shaking her head from where she was bent in front of the fridge. With the door open, light on, Winterlynn was looking for something to drink. Finally she stepped back with a bottle of orange juice in her hand.

As the news continued about this latest terrorist incident, and reminding the people about these terrorists, she fetched herself a tall glass from a cabinet next to the fridge. The glass set on the counter top, under the cabinet it had been retrieved from, she went about uncapping the orange juice and pouring herself a glass full. Turning to the fridge the door was open and the bottle placed back inside, just as they were moving on to some house fire in another part of the city. Taking her glass she moved toward the kitchen, her free hand unbuttoning the dark blue silk shirt she wore for work.

“Someone really needs to get involved and handle the terrorists. They’re running the city. I wonder, if no one gets involved, if it’ll ever end. Or will the city eventually be completely destroyed.” She’d like to hope someone would get involved before it came to that but she doubted it. After all, if someone was going to get involved why hadn’t they yet? What kept them from it? It was obvious, by now at least, that the local city police were unable, or unwilling, to handle the situation. Was there some political reasoning behind nothing being done? She wouldn’t be surprised if that was why nothing was being done, politics ran a lot of what happened, or didn’t happen, in the government after all.

Closing the bathroom door she flipped the light on and took a glance at herself in the mirror as she set her half full, by now, glass down on the granite sink. Turning she went to get a face clothe from the closet in the bathroom. From a draw, at the sink, she then pulled out the make up remover and the face wash, and set about cleaning off her make up and washing her face clean. When that was done she took another look at herself in the mirror. She could see that her eyelids were slightly darker than her usual skin tone – lack of sleep. At least the semester would be over soon and the holiday rush at the stores as well. When both of those things were over she could get back to normal hours and getting some proper sleep. From one of her counter draws, she had three, she pulled out a little roller that was meant to help with dark circles and such. Uncapping it she put that to use before putting it away and yanking her shirt off, and her work pants, both items went into the hamper that was in the bathroom closet. Now left in only three items of clothing she padded her way to the room next door- her bedroom.

Her bedroom was decorated in brushed silver, dark gray, pale lavender and hints of white. Her room was kept simple and somewhat modern, with the bed being a platform bed with no headboard and a basket chair set in the corner of her room. It was from the dressers, pressed against the wall across from her bed, with her tv set atop of it that she pulled some more comfortable house clothing.

Now back to the bathroom for a bath! She needed a nice long soak and she wanted to get back to her orange juice before it got warm.

January 27, 2012 (Back dating this)

Christmas and New Years had come and passed and Winterlynn was slowly but surely coming to accept her fate, destiny – whatever you wanted to call it. She wasn’t sure what she believed it was aside from unwanted. She didn’t want this; even if she accepted it she didn’t want it. She didn’t think she’d ever want this but she knew it was also impossible to escape, hadn’t she been told that and learned it already? She felt she had, even if she still would speak about wanting to escape this…this whatever it was!

Frustrated she turned narrowed purple eyes on the tv, where it was playing the news and talking about the cold snap. As far as she was concerned she wanted to simply dedicatee herself to her studies and ignore this whole thing but that first run in, when she’d first powered up, told her that even as a civilian she couldn’t avoid this whole war; even less so now that she was powered. She was curious and In need of answers and knowledge. She was approaching this like a good student would, searching for every bit of information she could, and it was bound to pull her in even if she tried to only find answers and not get involved. She hadn’t had a fight yet, not since that run in with the General, and that was good. But it was only a matter of time, she knew it, and she prayed she wouldn’t come out of it too beaten up where she had to miss classes.

Normally, a few bruises or cuts wouldn’t deter her from attending classes but if she wound up fighting someone like that General she was sure whatever injuries she incurred would be impossible to hide, or excuse away. How did these people do this? Balancing a lot of things wasn’t hard, annoying yes, but to handle injuries and keep people from being nosy; as people tended to be.

Shaking her head, her long hair swaying behind her much like the tail of an irritated cat, the heels of fur trimmed booties stomped across the floor as she made her way from the living room into the small kitchen to grab a drink. The fridge was roughly opened and ducking down a bottle of juice was taken out and the door shut, none too gently. The bottle was opened and a long sip taken of the cold juice.

For a moment she wondered what it would be like to have someone she could trust, someone who wasn’t herself, who she could tell this to and talk to. But she knew that wasn’t possible. She couldn’t trust anyone and knew that this was just another thing on the long list of things which she would have to bare on her own. This was a cross she had to bare and do so alone, with no one to hear her whispered thoughts and concerns.

It was always like this, ever since she was a child. She had long ago stopped talking about problems to her parents, family members, or ‘friends’. She would rather whisper all her problems aloud to herself in the softest voice possible, no telling when someone might hear her or be spying on her after all, and she would sob out her frustrations and pain as she whispered all her problems. It was just how life went and she’d long ago accepted it, not that she liked it, but this was another thing and she wondered just what whisperings this new life would cause.

Glancing to the calendar posted on a cabinet door she noted it was January fourth, she had still twenty four days left of winter vacation. Not a lot of time, but not too little either, she just hoped they went by relatively peaceful. She’s never wished that before, never had to, and now she did. This was a whole new, life altering, thing for her – being a knight….a knight of Polaris.

April 12, 2014 (Back dating this)

The winter Olympics were something to be watched with family, at least the opening and closing ceremonies, and that was just what Winterlynn was doing especially this year. This year Russia was hosting, and she still had her grandparents living there. With the holidays over work had slowed and become less stressful so she’d come home and had a quick, though very good, dinner and taken a hot shower before dressing.

Now, she sat on one of the overstuffed living room couches wither mother, her father sat in a large arm chair watching the television as well. She’d already been told that both sets of her grandparents were at the opening ceremony watching it all, and she was mildly jealous honestly. There were no Russian flags, or colors, decorating the living room, but there was food on the coffee table as well as half full drinks and in her mother’s case a half full tea cup. The tea service, silverware, sat on the table with more tea waiting for her mother.

As things started the dark haired girl was happy, and full of pride and awe, to see the Olympic village Russia had created. She’d heard, and seen online, what people were writing about the hotels and living conditions of the common people in the Sochi area. She’d also heard about the stray dogs there; that had almost made her weep for the innocent animals. She could only hope that the people there, visiting and otherwise, would do something. She didn’t hold much hope though; as she didn’t trust in people to do the right thing most of the time. But still she did have some hope; people did love animals and such. 3Taxi
As the national anthem of Russia played her parents sang along, her mother in a softer voice than her father, while she just hummed the anthem to herself. It wasn’t that she didn’t have pride in Russia and her family being from there, because she did, it was more than she was upset with what they had messed up with in regards to the Olympics. They should have had everything ready, and suitable for the world to come and see, and the reports coming from there said they weren’t prepared. It was just that Russia seemed to have done things…wrong.

When the parade of nations started she really did feel a thrill run through her, as it did every Olympics, as people came out full of national pride and representing their nations in a fun, and peaceful, event where countries which may not get along could be in the same building and be getting along – all for a game/event. It made her wish, for a split second, that both sides of this war could somehow, by some miracle, get along. She knew it would never happen though – they differed far too much. But why? What were the goals of both sides, aside from fighting and killing the other side? She should seek these answers..find people on all sides she could talk to and question. There had to be some cause for this war; other than a simple dislike/hate of the other side.
Pushing her thoughts aside, filing them away for later, she focused on the countries coming out and noted some rather…bright and hideous outfits. Whoever designed some of these outfits were insane – right? Or at least on something. The colors were too bright and clashed horribly.

Oh! She’d heard Tatu would be there performing but had doubted it, seriously, what with the opinion of gay and lesbian people in Russia and their lesbian act oh so long ago. She’d seriously doubted it but as the Russian team came out she heard those familiar voices and just as familiar words. Well it was a surprise, neither good nor bad, but it was also interesting to her. A glance to her parents and answering her mother’s question; her mother had asked if it was indeed those two girls. It wasn’t that song though, the beat and the words were wrong, and after much time of seemingly the same words the mascots came out – how…childish. They were supposed to be, she knew it, but she did dislike this part of things. If she had to pick one of the three she liked, or could at least tolerate, it was the rabbit and only because it was a rabbit and it wasn’t the cat. The cat she really disliked.

Finally! The part she really had been waiting for started! The history. It wasn’t just looked forward to because it was Russian history, she looked forward to this part every Olympics, but it was a showing of pride on ones country and where they’d come from – what they’d accomplished. This she like- no this is what she loved to see.

It wasn't just history though that was displayed, though that was a lot of it, but also the ballet and classical things that were Russian. The ballet was something which had held her attention, even as her mother mentioned in an off handed manner something about ballet. Focusing, for a moment, on what her mother was saying she nodded her head to the words. She'd heard them plenty of times growing up, so many times in fact that she could speak them nearly in her sleep. Her mother often, too often, would say that if they lived in Russia she would be enrolled in the ballet and would have been since she was old enough to stand on her feet. Her mother liked ballet, a lot, and had done ballet while growing up even if it had come to nothing, her mother had like all of her childhood friends done ballet from an early age. Her mother thought it was a good way to learn many things and make friends; plus it was a matter of pride as well as far as her mother was concerned. Winterlynn also knew her grandmothers, both of them, would have wanted her enrolled in ballet as well. She didn't know if she'd have done any good in ballet, she had only been enrolled here in Destiny City when she was little, but she was sure she'd have given it her best - as if there was any other option. She'd have had female members of her family helping her the whole way and ensuring she did well.

As the ballet segment ended the next segment to come in was...industrial revolution and building. Well, that was interesting. She understood and knew the Russian history but she also saw it in another interesting way. It was the softness of ballet next to the hardness of building and becoming something more modern. She saw it that way as well as she watched things with her full attention, since her mother had stopped talking about ballet.

When it came time for the speeches to be given the lavender eyed woman managed to zone out to an extent, most of what was being said was boring or predictable. The only area she really paid any mind to was the president of the Olympic committee. She was thankful the tv managed to translate what he said into English, since some parts were not in English. The fireworks went off and than the doves of peace. This really was an interesting, and very nice, opening ceremony. The floor was very interesting and made things look very...3d. Some new technology she was sure and it was being put to good use certainly.

Watching the females spin about she was briefly, and strongly, reminded of a scene from the original Fantasia by Disney. The floating seeds that had those feathery tops to them. That was what it reminded her of, though she couldn't remember off the top of her head which piece of music the scene had been done to. That aside it really was lovely but she didn't see doves...even when they formed something on the floor of the stadium it only looked a little like a dove.

To be honest she really couldn't help but comparing these opening to the opening of the Bejin summer opening ceremony which was beyond words. That had just been so rich and full of so much history and pride and energy. It had been amazing and the fact the Chinese had used so many people and had them so well coordinated was no small feat she was sure.

When the Olympic flag finally came out she sat back, a drink in hand, and watched while she drank slowly. Pitching forward to grab something off to table to nibble at she made herself comfortable. It seemed it was almost over and she knew her parents would discuss it all - they always did. They would also be waiting for anything from her grandparents and to see what they had to say about things there in Russia at the stadium. She was honestly fairly sure this had already happened in Russia, though she really hadn't noted what time or anything it would be happening in Russia, and that her grandparents were waiting till they knew it would be done showing on the tv's here in the United States. They would have been told by her parents or would have found out on their own and be waiting. They wouldn't want to spoil anything for them while commenting, complimenting, and gushing about it.

What lead up to the flags coming out was...boring in her mind and really she would have preferred if it was just skipped, or replaced with something more entertaining. But when the flags came out she was happy and clapped lightly, quietly, and then came the Olympic flame and that too was clapped for even as the fireworks went off at the stadium in celebration of the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. As the program continued on, talking about the show, she focused on her parents and the discussion she knew would take place in a few moments. She was ready to join them on the discussion and give her opinions on the whole event.

The Olympics were over and the news was now filled with another sort of story involving Russia. It wasn’t good news, not in her opinion, it looked bad for Russia and she didn’t trust Russia one bit. It seemed like they were strong arming things in order to gain territory they wanted – gaining through fear tactics and force. She had been listening, reading, and watching everything she could about what was going on.

When she’d first heard about it she hadn’t wanted to believe it, it seemed just…not to go with the fact they’d just hosted the world and been the center of the worlds attention for such a good thing – the Olympics. Now this. But it was true and she wondered if Putin had been watching as Ukrainian athletes had entered the stadium, during the opening ceremony, with a mental rubbing of his hands and a smirk in place while thinking of the plans he had.

Shaking her head as she stepped into her apartment; she was just returning home from classes for the day. Taking off her jacket she hung it up while toeing off her shoes. That done she headed toward the small kitchen on socked feet, on the way she passed the answering machine and noted there must be some message – the light was blinking.

With the button pressed for play back she continued to the kitchen, not missing a beat as her mothers voice came over the recorder. Grabbing a drink and a glass, juice poured into the glass before being put away, she went about gathering things so she could make herself a small dinner. It was when her mother mentioned her grandparents coming to stay for a while that she froze and glass in hand, sipping it slowly, she went to the answering machine and hit play back and paid closer attention to the recording.

‘With what’s going on in Russia your grandparents have decided it is time for a vacation to visit us. They will be arriving in two days time, I was hoping you could take off and come pick them up with your father and I. They would love to see you and how you’ve grown.’

It was short, simple, and gave very little information. Her grandparents lived in Moscow, she could remember where in a vague manner as it had been so very long since she’d been there, but they didn’t live where there would be any fighting so why? She could call her mother and ask, as surely she knew why. Mind made up she picked up the phone from its cradle and dialed her parents home phone as she traversed the short distance back into the kitchen, her drink still in one hand. Setting the glass down as her mother answered ht phone Winterlynn launched into questioning her mother in Russian, it was something she’d grown up learning right alongside English. She was fluent in both languages, reading and writing.

By the time she hung up the phone she was half way through making dinner and had all the answers she needed. Her grandparents would be staying for an extended vacation, so they were bringing a lot of their most precious things with them, and staying with her parents who thankfully had the room in their home. It seemed her grandparents didn’t agree with what was being done and the negative press outside of Russia – they weren’t buying what their mother country was saying. She knew they weren’t fans of Putin, never had been , so this was like the straw which had broken the camels back and was bringing them here to live with their children for a while. How long no one knew but for some unforeseeable amount of time her parents house would be home to two generations of Russians in the form of three women and three men – oh how interesting that would be. She could see the fights between the women of her family – over kitchen dominance. Winterlynn also knew she’d be getting invites to come home to eat every night, from one grandmother or another, and she’d be unable to turn down any of the invitations unless she had a very good reason – such as a date, school, or work. Nothing short of that would get her out of family meals, something she rarely did since moving out on her own.

Her grandparents were moving here for all intent and purpose…but would her aunts and uncles, cousins even, still in Russia follow suit at some point? She didn’t know their views as much as she did her grandparents…didn’t know if they’d stay or if they’d follow, even if they felt similarly to her grandparents. Would more of her family come to live in this city soon?

Shaking her head she went back to finishing making her dinner and sat down at the small table, just big enough for three people to comfortable fit and four to uncomfortably fit, and set about eating slowly as she thought change over. It wouldn’t be a bad thing but it would certainly be different and interesting. Dinner would be with her family more often than not from now on – not a bad thing. Her grandmothers could cook better than she could – and she liked to think she could cook well.

Well, she’d soon find out how things were going to go – one way or another no matter what. She would go with her parents to pick them up and maybe she should stop by her parents tomorrow and help them, they’d be preparing the guest rooms for their parents to live in. She should also find something to gift her grandparents with when – but what? That would take some thought…and it should be something somewhat traditional.

October 10, 2015 (Back dating this to September 26th.)

She had been to her wonder before, though that time had been with Polaris, this time she was bringing things with her. Since her first visit Winterlynn had been building up a stock pile of cleaning products, ranging from a swiffer wet jet and other swiffer products to mr. clean, Clorox and more. She had buckets and a garbage can filled with what she hoped was enough to begin the cleaning process of her wonder. She knew it would be a long and drawn out, tedious, process but she was determined to get it done no matter how long it took. She would see her wonder clean and no longer some dust collecting library and court rooms that were not just empty but filled with dust and cobwebs. It was not only unacceptable to her but it was a nightmare for allergies, she’d suffered for two days after her last visit and it was due to the dust.

As she looked down the garbage can, which was settled into a large tupperware storage container, to saw everything else she had in the tupperware and hoped she could at least get some progress done with her cleaning plans for the day. Without any work and no classes, as it was a Saturday, the dark haired girl took the risk of powering up at home, in her apartment, before focusing herself on her wonder and her want to be there. It was soon after pale eyes were obscured by her eyelids that she felt the cold bite of winter against her skin.

Knowing it had worked, that she was there, she let her eyes drift open and the hold she had on the tupperware relaxed as she looked around the open area which was surrounded on three sides by the familiar buildings that had once served as the justice arm of the government of Polaris. This had been where law had been studied and practiced. This place deserved to be cleaned up and not just because she didn’t like the idea of a dirty place but there was a wedding in December! Oh, she hoped it could all be cleaned before then…she really did. Her focus set and in full tilt clean mode the squire of Delphi grabbed hold of the tupperware’s handle and started to drag it through the snow toward the library right in front of her, and off to the right. She would work on one building at a time, rather than try and tackle everything all at once and fail to finish anything completely. Even if she failed to get everything clean she would get at least some things fully cleaned…in time anyway.

Shaking her head to dispel the negative thoughts the Russian girl continued her trek through the snow toward the library and up its steps where she pushed the doors open and stepped into the room. It was cleaner than when she and Polaris had first entered but it was still a mess that would require lots of time and care – lots of love. Dragging her carrier, as the tupperware really was a carrier of sorts, into the room she closed the doors and let the handle go finally as she went about removing her coat and finding a chair to drape it over. Draping it over the back of a chair she went to crack open the floor to ceiling glass windows to let some air in, she didn’t want to deal with the smell of cleaning products and all the dust she was likely to put into the air. “This is going to be a lot of work…” And possibly the biggest undertaking she’d ever take up. She couldn’t imagine ever doing something bigger than cleaning up this whole complex and bringing glory to it once again. It seemed daunting, impossible even, right now but she knew as things got done it would seem less so. As the finish line stopped seeming impossible, as it got closer, it would ease up. She just…she needed to take the first steps and not doubt herself or her ability. She had a task and she would not fail.

Walking back over to the chair her coat was draped over she sat herself down and slowly undid her boots before taking them off. They would slow her down and hurt her feet in the long run, limiting how long she spent on her feet cleaning. With them removed and socks the only thing covering her feet she stood herself back up and moving her gloves she turned and went to start gathering her supplies. The first thing to tackle was the enormous amount of dust. The tool for the job – the swiffer duster she had.

Pulling that from her tupperware she went to work on moving books and cleaning the bookshelves, chairs and tables would be next. She really wasn’t sure how to properly clean and tend to the books themselves, though they did have a musty sort of smell to them, she didn’t want to ruin them. She also wasn’t sure how to reach the ceilings as they were high – very high. She’d need some sort of ladder and more possibly. Maybe…maybe Iouri would have a clue? She didn’t know why but he was smarter and seemed like a scholarly sort, in some way, maybe he’d know how to clean up super old books? Biting her bottom lip as she thought about this she continued cleaning as she lost herself in the process and in thinking about what she wanted to do and how to go about it – it was a long list. Dusting, wood polishing, could she get a vacuum here but even so…how to use it? Did they make any solar powered ones? It was something to think about now. It was so hard to think of how to get things done because there was no power here, no source of it, and that kept coming up as an issue and as soon as it did she was dismissing ideas or thinking of finding someone to talk to, finding some way around it if one was possible; but that all was neither here nor there. The thoughts, however depressing some were, kept her occupied and made the time fly faster as she moved around the shelves of books and rid the shelves of dust while stacking the books on the floor. She needed to polish the shelves after the dust had all been removed.

It was a good thing she had food and water with her, she had figured she’d be here for a while and need both, she had taken breaks to sit at the table and eat, drink, and rest as her arms and even her legs protested all the work she was doing. But when she would look back to the books stacked on the ground, to the less dusty bookshelves, she would smile as she felt accomplished. She could see something getting done, even if in the grand scheme of it all this was a drop in a bucket – a very large bucket.

It wasn’t until much later that Delphi finally let her legs give out from under her but she was feeling satisfied – very satisfied. The shelves had been dusted and polished on the first floor, she’d do the second floor the next time she was here and cleaning. The tables and chairs had been dusted and polished as well. The books were still on the floor, they would be till she found out how to clean them properly; however that was done.

Seated on the floor, legs and arms aching, she smiled around her at the improvement which she could see. “This is good.” She could do it…she could clean this place up, slowly but surely, she could do it. Pale purple eyes were bright, despite how tired their owner was, as she slowly climbed to her feet and focused herself on home – she needed home now. A hot shower and bed, sleep…oh god sleep sounded so good right now.
It was when she found herself home and she was powered down that she realized, as she slowly made her way toward the bathroom, that six and a half hours had passed sine she’d left for Polaris and her wonder. Six and a half hours of cleaning and a lot more to go. Smiling, tiredly, she yawned as she closed and locked the bathroom door behind herself.

November 12, 2015 (Back dating this to two weeks after her last trip.)

She should have returned sooner, she knew that, but she hadn’t and she felt bad for not returning sooner although she didn’t know just why she felt bad. She knew she had a lot of work to do, cleaning up and such, but that wasn’t why she felt bad for not returning sooner. There was some other unnamable reason. Sighing the squire of Delphi made her way up the library steps and pushed the doors open slowly.

The room was still dirty and in need of repair but she was working on it, would continue to work on it, as the doors closed behind her she took off her coat and as she took a seat she removed her boots as well. Inside the bag she’d brought she had a pair of normal winter boots, no heels, and slipping them on she laced them up and set about the task of cleaning. The floors carpeting was a mess and with holes all over the place she decided it needed to come up. The wood under it was very nice and there didn’t seem to be any holes in the wood, at least from what she could tell, so that was her first ask – removing and tossing out the carpet. It was impossible to keep and there was no way to get the place recarpeted so it was coming up and the floors would be wooden. She had briefly considered throw rugs, nice thick plush ones, but the idea had been discarded rather quickly. If anything she might get blankets or something for the couches and chairs for anyone who visited here, herself included, but she didn’t see the point in throw rugs at the moment.

As she worked, her hair put up into a tight bun atop of her head, she let her mind wander to what this place must have once looked like with people here – lots of people. She could imagine it filled with people reading and studying, working, and wondered if it would ever again be as it once had been. She doubted it, strongly, but she could wish and want for it – right? She didn’t know why she felt so strongly about this place, about wanting to bring it back to its former glory, but she felt this way and she wouldn’t deny her own feelings especially to herself.

Biting down on her bottom lip the dark haired girl finally parted her lips and whispered a song to herself, one her mother used to sing to her as a girl. The Russian words slowly grew louder as she filled the silence with noise. This place once had many people in it, she was sure of it, and perhaps it was a want to see what could have been had this place – this planet not fallen? Another try at once had been but without it all going to hell…yes that would make sense.

As time continued on and she worked diligently she analyzed her own feelings, her reasoning’s, and thoughts. It was in this time, during these hours, that she came to a few conclusions. For one she did want to bring this place back to its former glory, she was sure of this. But she also knew why, though she wasn’t sure she had the right words for it. This was a magical place and it was lacking some of it’s shine, some of its splendor, and she wanted to bring that back. It was like someone looking at ancient Greece, or Rome, or any other ancient city and wishing to be back in those times; just to see it and the culture and people. It was similar to that. She wished to rebuild here and even though the people wouldn’t be here to fill it and talk, discuss and debate; it was a step closer to being back in those times and seeing what it had been as if she had gone back in time.

She also had established that she wouldn’t have this whole place clean by the time of the wedding but she would try her best and work on it all. She had brought a few things today in a bag with her, aside from proper snow boots; she had a sweeper and a dust bin. So once the carpet was up she could sweep the floor clean from all the debris and from there she could clean the wooden floor till it shone before moving on to other things.

When she was done, meaning when she was bone tired, the floor on the first floor of the library was without a carpet and the wooden floors were clean and made that lovely sound which wooden floors made when walked on by heels, as she’d pulled her heels back on. Chairs and tables were clean and any new dust which had collected on the shelves and books had been dusted off and the books all nice and neat on their shelves. She had spent most of the day here and had lunch at some point, she didn’t even know when, as she’d planned to be here most of the day if not all day. She needed to get things done here and with the wedding looming and things not yet clean she felt she’d need to seek out Polaris and ask for a trip here in a few days, when she didn’t feel like she was going to fall apart at the joints, so she could get to the second floor here and maybe start on the other library. Once the libraies were both clean she was planning the main court building than the others. While it was a plan there was no telling how long it would take, though she had a feeling it wouldn’t all be done in time. She didn’t think that even with help from Polaris she could get here often enough to clean this whole place up – it was just too much.

“I’ll do my best.” She whispered while looking around. She would indeed do her best but how good would her best be? She knew Polaris would accept whatever she got done but could she? No. She knew she’d have to though, there was only so much she could do given the location of this place and how often she could get here, there were limitations which she couldn’t fight. She couldn’t just eat up all of Polaris’ time either with trips here, that would be unfair.

The garbage she had was gathered and put into the large bag she had brought with her as she glanced about once more. She needed a hot shower when she got home, she was a sweating mess of unhappy squire, but despite how tired and sore she was Delphi was pleased with what progress she’d managed. Closing her eyes, to the scene of her library, a smile on her face she focused on home and when her pale eyes opened she was back in Destiny City inside of an abandoned building in an industrial part of the city. The factory had once made glass, she was pretty sure it was glass, but had long since gone out of business as the economy went to hell especially in this city. Finding a dumpster was easy and the bag of garbage was tossed out before she headed herself home – slowly. Powering down along the way she gave in at some point and got herself a cab; no way was she going to continue to walk home like this.

November 23, 2015

She’d been busy, though it wasn’t the best of excuses, but she had been. The end of semester was coming up and she’d been studying for hours it seemed as well as working. She hadn’t meant to not go up to her wonder, to not work a little more on cleaning it up and preparing for a wedding, but she hadn’t been up there in weeks. Now though she was here, braving the cold, as she marched her way through the snow and into the library she had been working on for so long. She still had some work to do there and it would get done! She would finish it today! She wasn’t leaving this planet until this library was clean and she could safely move onto the other one.

Already she had a plan of attack in her mind, this library, the other one, than the main court building followed by the other two – left than right. She would work her way through things slowly as she intended to do her job well and make sure she didn’t need to return to things and clean what she should have already cleaned. Though she did understand that dust would collect over time, it already was in here, but she would at least remove all the dust which had been gathering for who knows how long. The problem was the lack of people, the lack of help and people living here, there was no way to maintain a clean wonder as there weren’t many people here to constantly clean things – like every day basic cleaning.

Sighing she shook her head to dispel the depressing thoughts, she didn’t need to let those thoughts bring her down, as she gathered the materials she would need and headed up to the second floor to work. The first floor was mostly done, aside from the books being taken care of, the shelves were clean and the floor was without a rug now. Tables and chairs were clean while debris had been removed and dumped, back when Polaris had been with her here. Now the second floor awaited her cleaning touch and it would receive it!

She had brought food, which sat on a table while her coat was draped over a chair, as she set herself to working on removing books from shelves which she cleaned. The books were treated to a light dusting with one of those new things that got dust to clung to it. As she cleaned books she placed them back onto the clean shelves and made her way down the rows of books as she went from shelf to shelf and cleaned the little tables and chairs she passed by.

Time went by slowly, it would make a wonderful torture method she was sure, and at some point she had broken out into singing to herself as she worked her way around the second floor of the library cleaning and sneezing on occasion due to the dust. There really needed to be a way to keep the dust from gathering so heavy in here while she was off cleaning everywhere else, she didn’t plan to come back to cleaning here till everywhere else was done, and that could lead to a lot of dust re-accumulating here. Biting down on her lip, pausing in the middle of singing as she did so, she shook her head again and went back to singing and working.

It was at some point that she stopped and headed downstairs to get a bottle of water, she’d brought several with her as she planned to leave any extras here as a sort of stock pile. While sipping from the bottle, seated in a chair, she decided to have her lunch. Something she took her time to enjoy, she also didn’t want to eat too fast and make herself sick, but once it was done and the garbage was bagged she was back up to the second floor to work some more. She would finish this library, to the best of her ability, today!

That in mind she didn’t pause until it was done. Books were on their now clean shelves and the squire was hot and sweaty, she was sure she stunk, but it was done as she let herself slump into a chair she considered grabbing a bottle of water and upending it over her own head, just to cool off, but she knew that would likely result in her getting sick and missing all kinds of things such as work and school. The idea, being was bad as it was, found itself pushed away as she let herself relax for a while before finally pushing herself up onto her feet and dragging herself, and her things with her, to the tupperware she kept her cleaning supplies in. What was in her hands was placed into the tupperware before she grabbed done end of it and dragged it off and outside as she headed for the other library and pushed those doors open with a certain lack of energy – she was exhausted and it showed. She needed to call it a day and head home but first she had to move all this inside and at least see the damages here, she could perhaps ask Polaris to come with her and help with removing any metal debris she might find here.

Once she had settled the tubberware inside the library, trying to ignore the mess she saw otherwise she might take to cleaning more, and turned her back on the room before focusing on returning home. The teleporting was, as usual, jarring and somewhat off balancing but she was becoming used to it and was able to reorient herself rather quickly. Powering down, before she could be sensed, and hurried off toward her apartment with the intent of a hot shower and bed. She had already eaten, thankfully, so didn’t need to ear she just needed to relax sore, overworked, muscles and get some sleep.

Seeing her apartment building she hurried her pace and made it into the building and up into her apartment in what seemed like record time as she went right for the bathroom, after locking her front door, and set about relaxing after hours of hard work.

December 15, 2015

She was overdue for a trip back to her wonder but finally she was back up on Polaris. Surrounded by snow, cold, and her wonder which was normally a comforting thing. Something was off this time though and it took time for her to notice it, because there was always a sort of silence about this place that she felt even back in Destiny City on those cold winter days when there was snow covering the ground. There was a sort of deafening silence which seemed to go hand in hand with snow. So for there to be that sort of silence here was normal but this was different – it was wrong.

Biting down on her lip she wondered if she should speak with Polaris when she returned home from this trip, should she let the senshi know something was off at her wonder? She didn’t know where other places were, how far from her wonder, so she didn’t want to risk walking off and getting lost all in the hopes of seeing if this feeling persisted. The best option to see if it was just her, and maybe just her wonder, was to speak with Polaris but did she really want to upset or worry the girl? She was due to get married soon, in only a few weeks’ time!

No, no, she couldn’t do it not yet anyway. She didn’t want to ruin things for the white haired girl by tossing some new stress at her, she was sure she was already under enough stress as it was. There was no need for more stress. Maybe if this feeling remained after the wedding. Yes, if it lasted after the wedding she’d say something, she could only hope it wasn’t something which Polaris would feel as it would ruin her wedding.

Her mind made up Delphi closed the doors to the library behind her, she’d been walking through the snow to the library the whole time she’d been lost in thought. So now with the doors closed behind her she started working on cleaning things. Her coat came off and was draped over a chair as she set about cleaning. She might not get this done by the time of the wedding but she would have put in her best effort and there was nothing wrong with that. She knew Polaris wouldn’t hold it against her or anything like that, Polaris would know she had done her best. She planned to continue cleaning up after the wedding anyway, so it wasn’t just for the wedding and for Polaris that she was doing this cleaning of her wonder.

Humming as she worked on cleaning she worked on books and shelves as she gingerly removed the books from their shelves, stacked them on the floor, and cleaned up the wooden shelves. The books were dusted off gently before being placed back on the shelf. They weren’t in order, there was no way to remember what order they were in and no way to tell what order they should be in. She had watched how she’d stacked them but some had already been on the floor hence the inability to properly shelf the books.

Pausing in her cleaning, at some point, she went to have a drink and something light to eat. This seemed an impossible task, but one she planned to see through. Cleaning her whole wonder would take at least till summer, given how big it was and the amount of space and rooms and things which needed tending to. She may not have entered the court buildings, much less the rooms, but she was sure they would be a mess as well and take a lot of time to clean and she figured they would be sizable as well. She was at least putting in her best effort to clean things up as much as she could in the amount of time given, and considering she could only come here every two weeks to clean.

If she able to come more often she would though she feared that might interfere with her school and work life and so she was glad she couldn’t come more often, at least not right now. She would get herself too caught up in cleaning and spend too much time here working on things.

Once her lunch was done she went back to cleaning for what had to be another two, maybe three, hours before she decided to teleport herself back home for a hot soak and a rest, as she was cold and tired. She had done enough for the day and it was all she could do before she ran herself too into the ground to function the next day.

While she showered, and prepared for a rest, she couldn’t get the thoughts out of her mind about that odd feeling at her wonder – what could it be? More importantly, almost, was if it would ruin the wedding and was it something bigger – something deadly.

December 29, 2015 (Back dating to December 23).

She didn’t know why she felt a need to go up to her wonder but she did, and it had nothing to do with cleaning as had been her need to go there lately. This was for some unknown reason but the feeling was strong. Even though she was sure she couldn’t get there on her own power, not so soon after already going up there, Winterlynn had powered up almost as soon as she had left her apartment building. Once powered up it was a quick trip, which surprised her, up to her wonder.

Looking around as soon as she’d arrived she felt it – still. That dark feeling was there and now being able to get here sooner than usual – very odd. It was all very odd. Nothing seemed off as she glanced about, still a load of snow, the buildings hadn’t changed, nothing was different visually.

Running her fingers through her dark hair the lavender eyed squire could still feel the tugging, the need to move and to be somewhere. Where she felt she needed to be she wasn’t sure but trudging through the snow she let her feet lead her to wherever she needed to be. It was safe up here, as far as she was aware anyway, so she felt it was safe to not pay attention to as much as she would if she back in Destiny City.

Reaching the main court building, a place she’d not yet been, she climbed up the steps and passing under the overhanging roof she reached the front doors and pushed one of the large wooden doors open. Slipping inside the door shut behind her with a load, echoing, sound that seemed to fill the building as it bounced off the walls and just gain in volume for a moment before it drifted off.

Standing there for a moment, just inside the building, she finally decided to start walking again. Heels hit the floor with a thudding sound, due to the tread of her heels, as she walked down the wooden floors past various doors to what she presumed were all court rooms. The walls were metal while the floors wooden, it wasn’t such a bad combination of materials, with little decoration. Benches outside each door and a few statues here and there but nothing else for decoration or ornamentation of any sort filled the area. What she wasn’t planning to do was head toward a set of steps, a grand staircase, and head down into the bowels of the building. She could have gone up, perhaps it would bring her up to the dome of the building? Maybe there were small offices up there above the court rooms? She wasn’t really sure and it seemed like she might not be finding that out today as he feet where bringing her in the opposite direction, down to who knows where.

At the bottom of the steps was a sudden end and a door right there – right in her face. Staring for a moment she reached out and pushed at it, expecting it to not budge due to being locked, she was happy when it swung open with the noise of whining hinges that could use a replacement, or a lot of love. Stepping inside she found a small stool, just inside the doorway, and used that to keep the door open as she headed down the dimly lit hall of what she soon discovered were cells – holding cells? The idea hit her suddenly and it did make sense. It would need to be holding cells since the courts were right above, easy transporting of prisoners and the ability to imprison those who were in contempt – right? Yes, these were holding cells she thought to herself even as she made her way past the empty cells. Some of the doors were open and some were closed but she passed them all and headed down the hall, ignoring how things got darker and darker as she didn’t worry about anything behind down here to trip or attack her. She felt confident that nothing down here could, or would, hurt her in any manner.

It was down at the end that she stopped and turned to stare as things had taken a sudden and rather dramatic change. This cell was open, no shock there, but she could see and it was because of a light source. There was a small orb floating inside the cell glowing. Could this be it? Was this the darkness? No…but this was what was calling her here and she was sure of that as she stepped into the cell and made her approach.

Not the sort to back down, rather a direct and blunt person, she took a moment to observe it before opening her mouth to speak.

“What is going on, why do things feel off here? And what are you?” Simple, right? She was right to the point and hoped to find out even though she was certain there would be no response from the object floating there. Who knew though, a lot of strange things happened when one took into account magic.

Quote:
Deep in the basement, hidden in a holding cell, something glowed. A pulsating orb of energy, about the size of a baseball, was hidden behind a wall of bars. In the empty room, it flickered dolefully. It seemed to have a presence—like it was more than just a light. While it did not share the same mist-like appearance as the Code Piece on Olympus, there was no denying that this orb of light was one in the same. Although smaller, it still seemed powerful.

"Nothing out of the ordinary. If things feel off, perhaps it is because you yourself are off. Or, perhaps what you are doing is ruining the natural order of things. I am the Code, a fragment of a much larger power. You would do well to respect that."

She was…off? First off it responded! But to tell her she was off! For a moment she considered stamping her heel on the ground, or in some way letting this orb know of her displeasure, but when it mentioned the natural order of things she was curious and instantly wanting to ask about that. What this orb was however also had her attention, but she would ask someone else about that. Time right now was best spent focusing on the issue at hand – her and the natural order of things.

“ I'm off, how am I off? What natural order of things? Explain, what is the natural order, seeing as this is not Earth so I'm unfamiliar with the nature of here. “

Quote:
The orb of light seemed to flicker when addressed again before its voice spoke again.

"Do you think yourself clever? Like groping for the answers to questions you don't understand will set you on the right path? If things feel off, perhaps you are broken. I have no time for broken tools. If you care so much, perhaps you should spend more time here to learn it yourself, rather than forcing me to waste my energy imparting information you should already know. If you are so ignorant to this Wonder, perhaps you should just hand it over to the darkness. They'd take better care of it than you."

Watching it flicker and then hearing it once more it took a bit of time till she was sure she understood what it meant. The idea of her, personally, being broken was ignored in favor of the real topic at hand. She had been spending time here, a lot of time here. “Here…do you mean here with you?” She questioned. “or just here at Delphi?” Which did it mean? Was there a difference? Surely not, this was still Delphi just another part of it.

“No – never. I’d sooner see hell freeze over before I’d hand Delphi over to the Negaverse.” Because that would mean joining them but more importantly they would ruin Delphi and a part of Polaris. It would hurt the princess…and it would hurt here. No, she would never hand her wonder over – it was hers and it was important.

Quote:
"What a pity, Delphi. You held such promise. But you're the same as the other Knights. You are too blinded by false pride and loyalty to understand what your Wonder truly needs. Even when I spell it out to you, you are quick to shun it. The Negaverse could aid you. And you won't even attempt to learn from them? I pity you. I pity the fate of Delphi. Go, now. I will not speak to you again until you have rethought what the well-being of your Wonder means to you."

For a moment she wanted to argue, that first sentence was like a stab at her and it hurt. She’d had promise…but now she didn’t. So she had been doing something right but now not so much? Damn it! This was frustrating and being compared to the other knights, to knights she had never met, was annoying to say the least. It gave her a lot to think about though – almost too much. But she would think on it and try to figure out what she could do, what she had to do.

The Negaverse though…that hadn’t been a stab at her like she’d thought. It was, it seemed anyway, like an honest comment that they could help her somehow. She didn’t think the Code meant to go to them, to join them or turn over her wonder, but then what? What could she take from them? There had to be something. Maybe if she sought out others, who understood the Negaverse more, she could discover it. Biting down on her bottom lip the woman bowed once to the floating orb. “Of course.” She had much to think about and obvious improvements to make, both with herself and her wonder. Turning slowly, she headed out of the small cell and back the way she’d come. There was much to do, a wedding to prepare for, and a lot on her mind. She would seek out Polaris before the wedding and speak with her, maybe her princess could help her gain some information on the Negaverse that would prove useful.

“Blinded by loyalty…to what or who?” How was it blinding? What wasn’t she seeing…something that the Negaverse had or something that they didn’t have and she too didn’t have. Fingers ran through her hair as she climbed the steps back to the ground floor and out of the main court building she headed. Shaking her head as she went down the long, lonely, hall toward the doors that would lead outside into the cold.

Pushing open the doors to the cold outside of Polaris the squire was not expecting to hear something. It was desolate out here, silent as it tended to be when it snowed. So for her to hear any sort of sound was very odd and easy to catch ones attention. That was what had her heading off toward the sound to investigate. It brought her out toward the fountain in the middle of the plaza and what she found brought a surprised gasp from her. Lavender eyes went wide and she reached out slowly, pulling her gloves off before she did so. The water…was real. There was real water pouring from the fountain and filling the basin and it was warm. “Oh!”

Standing there, in the snow, her hands under the flow of warm water, which she was staring at with wide eyes. Oh! She had to tell Polaris about this! Her princess would need to see this, would love to see it! Had the Code known this would happen? Shaking her head she smiled, it was likely it did. It seemed to have power and be able to see and know things it shouldn’t have any way to given it seemed to be a permanent resident of that cell down there. “Amazing…” Very amazing and very good.

Finally pulling her hands from the water she dried her hands off on her coat, darkening the fabric of her coat a bit, before she slipped her gloves back on and headed to her original destination – the second library.

Pushing the doors open to the library the squire stepped inside and went to work on cleaning. Her coat came off and went to rest draped over a chair. The cleaning went smoothly, as it usually did, with her stopping to take a break at one point. It was during the break that she discovered something else which was new – warmth. It wasn’t just warmth but it was heat. It was a surprise but one which brought a smile to her face as she stopped here cleaning and moved around to try and find the source of the heat, as she saw no vents or anything you’d typically expect.

What she wasn’t expecting was that while she was looking the idea, how it worked, hit her out of nowhere. She knew where it was from and went to the walls. “They run heating through the walls…” It was run via hot water that ran through pipes inside the walls and warmed the place. That was how it was working and why it was working – it was tied into the fountain working as both used warm to hot water. Standing there for a moment as she took in the new knowledge she moved toward the nearest wall and pressed her hand to it and smiled more as she felt the heat. It was perfect. She would have to tell Polaris about this.

Nodding to herself she went back to cleaning, she really did need to get things nice and neat here, and when she felt she was done, several hours later, she stood in the library gazing around and knowing she had achieved something and smiled brightly. “This is amazing…and right before Christmas.” She spoke gently. It was just two days before Christmas and she had this – it was perfect.

Closing her eyes and focusing on home, on Earth, she felt the change in temperature and in ground under her feet. She was on pavement, outside, and not all that far from home. Hurrying out of the alley and back to her apartment, now powered down, she let herself in and grabbed up her cell phone and sent a text to Aurora. Her fingers flying across the on screen letters as she tapped out the message to the senshi.

Quote:
It’s been a long time since we’ve last spoken but you need to know this. I just came back from Delphi and there is running water – and heat! The heating is heated water in pipes that run through the walls. But it’s there – I have to show you.

Hitting the send button, she went to take a shower, her phone set on the bathroom counter top as she waited for a response, which she hoped she’d get soon. She hoped the other female would read it and be as happy as she was, even if she wasn’t showing it as much as she knew Polaris would. The white haired girl would be bouncing; she was sure of it.

January 1, 2016 (back dating to after Christmas, but before New Years).

Since dealing with the code, both at her wonder and Olympus, Winterlynn had a lot on her mind – almost too much. It was a good thing school wasn’t in session right now due to the holidays. She could take a break and think and relax and think some more.

The code had told its story…or rather the story of what lead to the demise of everything – of peace. It wasn’t a story she liked, the very idea of a girl and a guy doing such a thing…that their supposed love had caused so much damage that continued even now. To hold the power to ******** up so bad that it was still going on a thousand years later was just ridiculous and the fact no one had put her, or him, in line was just horrid. Where were the adults? People with brains?! They were royals so hadn’t they had advisers or people who could have reined them in and kept them apart? Smacked some sense into them? Why had it been allowed to continue to the point that it went to hell in a handbasket?

She was glad she had no memories of that time, she didn’t want to see her part self or her ancestor involved in that mess if they had been. She didn’t want to see the painful stupidity of what had happened back then. Though some part of her did wonder how her wonder, how Polaris, had gotten involved in the mess. Had they been allies or friends with the Moon’s kingdom or Earth’s? She wondered, not for the first time since the code had spoken, if Polaris would have a clue. She hadn’t asked her, wouldn’t ask her, but she was curious. Maybe she could find out from the code? Would it talk to her at her wonder? It hadn’t liked her very much the last time.

She had to try! That took only moments to decide as she lay there surrounded by the hot scented water which filled the claw footed bathtub. Her hair was piled up on top of her head, held secure in place by dozens of clips, as she soaked in the hot water and let it ease sore muscles and relax her before she sought out the comforts of her bed.

“I have to go back eventually anyway. I might as well try and ask, see if it’ll respond.” She said softly to herself, a yawn following her words. “It seems to want us to not pick a side in this war. I think that’s the point it was making. To realize we are not black and white and that we need both so we can’t seek to destroy either side but rather bring them to balance…” She whispered into the heated, cloudy, air of the bathroom. “But how…” That seemed impossible to her. She wasn’t even sure if that’s what the code meant and wanted but it was an attempt at figuring it out and she thought it was a good attempt.

“I don’t know if it really wants any of us to join the Negaverse…but I could be wrong. Maybe it does want some of us to join but for what reason? Wouldn’t that only dig the hole deeper?” To send someone who wasn’t dark over to that side, to feed them another member and more power, that would only hurt the light side and couldn’t that over balance things? Or maybe the light side was the stronger side and thus sending a few to the Negaverse would help the balance? She really wished she could get more out of the code, to sit and talk longer to it – without anyone else.

Sighing she sat up and leant forward to unstop the water and stood up grabbing for the shower head to clean off before stepping out of the tub with a towel going about her body. Time to get to sleep before she continued thinking, aloud and to herself, and worked herself up to the point she couldn’t sleep.

Yawning again she went about drying off and dressing for bed before doing just that – going to bed.

She didn’t know what it was but that didn’t mean she didn’t feel concern and fear, worry, bubble up inside of her. She hadn’t expected that when she powered up tonight she’d get smacked with such a feeling of wrongness. Something was wrong, very wrong, and she couldn’t even tell what. It was a general wrongness and she knew it meant something – something big. In this city, and when it came to such things, she knew nothing was ever small and should always be looked at carefully and even worried over. She might not be the most active of knights, she really should do more about the fighting thing, but she knew enough that she had developed some instincts and they were telling her this was gonna get bad.

Biting down on her lip the lavender eyed squire really didn’t like the idea of something going bad, couldn’t they all get a break? The new year had just started and already something was happening? Not only that but the feeling had been so strong but so fleeting, vanishing almost as soon as it had hit her. The feeling had echoed though, that was the best way to describe it, and that kept the feeling there even it grew weaker with each ripple.

“Something is going to happen.” She whispered to herself in Russian. She didn’t like knowing something would happen, even if she liked knowing things ahead of time and having plans for everything, this she didn’t want to know a head of time. This would nag at her and bother her, worry her and keep her up at night. Had Polaris felt it? Who else had felt this? She didn’t know many people and even fewer did she know well enough to seek them out and ask them, and that was if she could even find them. She did want to know though if she was the only one, though a little voice in the back of her mind told her she likely wasn’t. If it was something like she thought, it was than no – others felt it.

“Maybe someone has an idea though…the code was very odd also…maybe something connected?” She pondered aloud as she turned a corner and waked down the alleyway till she reached the fire stairs which she took up to the building’s roof.

Moving across the roof top she jumped to the next, glad for the heavy tread on her boots, as the ice on the roof top didn’t deter her or cause her to lose her balance. Rather she was able to continue through the city via roof top till she stopped. Something had just pinged off her senses and she stood there feeling it out. It was rare that she went and fought things, rare she felt anything as well, but this didn’t feel stronger than her nor like an officer. “A youma…” She breathed out, her breath creating a plume of air in front of her. A youma from the feel of it and that required her attention, those things were rather beast like and didn’t much care for a person’s age nor anything else, they could kill a person without meaning to…though she figured they meant to every time they attacked someone. The Russian squire really had no love for youma and would enjoy seeing them all dead, if that were at all possible – just how many youma existed? It seemed to be a never ending amount of them.

Headed toward the youma the squire had picked up a discarded metal pipe along the way, found o nthe alleyway ground half under a dumpster. With that in hand, and her ‘weapon’ off to subspace, she made her approach toward the youma. It wasn’t far from where she’d been when she’d felt it. It was actually behind a gas station with what looked like a worker pinned to the building. It was draining the person’s energy as he held onto their leg as only a dog could do really.

“Hey! Over here!” Shouting at it she made an approach, rather quickly as she came running at it, and swung the pipe at the youma to get it off the person. With the person free they slumped to the ground, unconscious, and the youma which looked like some cross between a dog and perhaps the werewolf from Harry Potter focused on her the squire acted. Another swing was taken at it before she had to fling herself to the side in order to avoid a swipe of a clawed paw. Losing her balance and rolling she got up onto her feet and moved back in to swing at the youma again, narrowing her eyes when it avoided the attack.

The fight continued on for some moments as they traded injuries and they avoided each other here and there. Finally, though she knocked it the ground with a good hit to one of its legs. With it on the ground she pounced and started hitting it in the head with the pipe, over and over again. Not once had she summoned her scepter to use nor had she thought to use her magic. She had been too focused on the fight to think of using her magic, would could have helped her in avoiding some of the scratches she had managed to gain from the youma that was now turning into dust as she clambered to her feet.

“I really hate youma.” The worker was looked to for a moment before the pipe was tossed aside and the man was grabbed and half dragged to the side of the gas station building. Moving him to an area where he could be found, right under a light, she went to the back of the building and grabbed the pipe off the ground. Coming around the side of the building she threw the pipe far so it would grab people’s attention and they would hopefully find him here.

With that done she took off, not wanting to see how fast someone might notice and find him, and headed off to continue her patrol. For now, the feelings she’d felt earlier were gone – banished by the youma. Later on she’d remember it and think about it. But right now it was on a back burner. Oh nice of the youma to give her some peace of mine tonight, if only for a little while.

She’d been busy with a battle – a big one and the recovery after it. It wasn’t just the physical recovery but also the mental and emotional. It wasn’t just a fight but a battle where many lives had been lost, on both sides. So much had happened and she hadn’t been able to think of it all at the time, hadn’t been able to think of what she was doing or consider it – question it or herself.

After the battle she had needed time to recover, badly bruised from the battle, she had taken the time to tend to herself and called in to work to tell them she had been attacked by some terrorists and needed some time to recover ad she was bruised and sore. With the time granted to her, and time off from school granted her as well, she was able to spend a week recovering before returning to her normal activities though it was slower – she explained it away as nightmares. It wasn’t far from the truth, sleep was eluding her, she had a hard time to get the images out of her head. It wasn’t easy to forget the bodies, the bloodshed, or anything else which had happened that night.

She should have gone to her wonder, she should go to her wonder, but she had refrained from it. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go – she did! She really did want to go but knowing the piece of the code at her wonder was acting off, it had after all suggested she join the Negaverse and turn her wonder over to them, she didn’t want to face that again. It wasn’t that it would convince her to do as it said – not a chance in hell. It was that she didn’t want to hear those words, didn’t want to see if it had affected her wonder any further. She wanted to learn more about the piece which had been rescued, and she was sure a meeting would take place where answers could be gained, until then she didn’t want to go to her wonder and perhaps find something else tainted. It scared her that it could spread – that it may have spread. She wanted to know what others had to say, what they may do, and anything else she could find out before she went to her wonder.

She just hoped it wouldn’t dissolve into fighting, arguing, or other childish sorts of behavior. She wanted to know her wonder was safe to go to, that she wouldn’t face a tainted code or worse yet…a attained wonder.

Staring down into the wine glass she held the dark haired woman tipped it back so she could take a sip before returning to the living room and the paused movie she had on. “All I can do is wait.” They would call, there would be a meeting. She knew it. There had to be a meeting because of this – it was a big discovery. “Soon...I just need to wait.” Another sip of her drink and the play button was hit and she was lost, for now, in the sights and sounds of her movie. Hopefully it would make her sleep peaceful, last nights had not been.

Talk about busy, Winterlynn had been somewhere beyond that. She had just managed to keep up with Hyperborea and spend time with the teenager, she still couldn’t believe someone so young was a transcended knight. It wasn't that she doubted the others skill but rather it meant she’d been involved for a good amount of time, had seen and done a lot. Things no child, in her opinion, should see or do. Winterlynn wasn’t nicknamed winter for no reason, among the other ice and snow themed nicknames she had, she could be as cold as a Russian winter. The white haired girl who became Hyperborea however was a melting spot for her, where the ice was melting and giving way to the green underneath.

The girl was a soft spot for her...she was someone Winterlynn wanted to protect and keep safe, despite her being the lower ranked knight in this friendship. The rank didn’t matter to her, not in the slightest, and she was glad that she had met the girl all those months ago. She was glad she had taken the advice of her Princess - that she had tried to open up to someone.

This wasn’t to say she would ever be good with people as a whole, she doubted that would ever be the case, but it meant that a few spots where grass could be seen wasn’t such a bad thing perhaps. A few people being let in was ok...maybe everyone wasn’t out to get her or use her...she would see as time...and friendships continued.

She hadn’t had time this summer to visit her own wonder, as much as she wanted to, in order to avoid the summer heat and burning rays of the sun, she had been busy with summer classes and work. She hadn’t had much time to even power up, unless it was to spend time with the younger knight. She would be graduating in December with a degree in gemology and she was excited, she had taken as many classes as she could so she could finish now, and the work was paying off.

However, for all that work some things had to suffer and her wonder was one of them. Tonight she stepped out of her apartment, locked the door behind herself, and made for a safe place to power up so she could teleport herself up to Delphi and spend some time there. It was a friday night and she had time..she had a lot of time to spend there. She had running water so if she could find a bathroom...and a tub...she was all set really! It might roughing it a bit, she had no idea what living quarters were like, but with running warm water it couldn’t be so bad!

She had to do some more cleaning first though. She still had courtrooms and buildings to clean - lots of them to clean. She wished, for just a few moments, that she could bring a load of people with her to help her clean. She wished there was electric so she could run some modern cleaning tools, in order to get things done faster. This was primitive and yet...not...somehow.

Shaking her head the powered up squire Focused herself on where she wanted to be, on her wonder, on getting there.

When she arrived the cold that stole her breath away, froze her lungs for a moment, was welcome. Pale eyes opened and took in the sight of her wonder - it was lovely. With the sounds of a fountain, the stones under her feet, she was happy with it all as her boots moved across the cobblestones and toward the fountain. Her fingertips skimming the edge of the collecting pool filled with warm water. This, this was progress it was an accomplishment and something she had earned, she hoped to move further toward her goal of improving her wonder - of restoring it.

Past the fountain she moved, headed toward one of the two libraries. She had cleaning supplies to get and bring to one of the courthouses, she needed to get cleaning there. She had so much to do...there was no way she’d finish by December. She couldn’t get here often enough or spend enough time here to clean, she was limited by biological needs and other reasons. There was simply nowhere to sleep, or bathe or anything else. Once she found the living quarters, as she knew they had to be here somewhere at the complex, she would bring all the supplies needed to bathe and sleep and clean up and tend to herself. She could stay here longer than, and do more. Weekends could be spent here cleaning.

Dragging the large container, filled with cleaning products, with her from the library to the central court building the door was pushed open and the container used to keep it open as she now pushed, rather than dragged, it inside. When the door closed, with a heavy, echoing, bang the squire went to pull out a swiffer so she could get to cleaning the dust covered floors. The floors outside the courtrooms first...then the courtroom floors. She would then do the stairs and go from there. She wouldn’t get it all done today. She highly doubted it, but she would put in an effort to get as much done as possible. Her coat was set aside, she would over heat with it on, as she set to work.

For the next three hours, give or take, Delphi cleaned the floors with swiffer, mop, and did her best to remove the thick layer of dust from the floors. This work was punctuated, several times, by sneezes that were brought about by the dust drifting through the air. She really needed to clean the walls and get rid of all the dust, if for no other reason than her own allergies. If she ever hoped to invite other people into these courtrooms, if she ever wanted her wonder open again to the public, she needed to insure they wouldn’t suffer from allergic reactions to dust.

She had, much to her surprise, found the library still dust free. She hadn’t been there in weeks, maybe longer, and it was still as clean as it had last been when she had visited. The fact that it wasn’t any more a mess, anymore dusty, was a pleasant surprise for Delphi who with a new warmth filling her had taken to cleaning the court building floors. Knowing that once don with an area, or a building, she wouldn’t need to move on to re-clean an area...it would remain clean.

When she was done, and when hunger was eating at her, Delphi decided to leave everything in the tupperware container just inside the building, so it was right there when she arrived next time, and head back home so she could get something to eat. Not only did she need something to eat but a hot shower, despite it being hot out in Destiny City, and a short rest. Her living room couch and a movie were a very tempting idea right about now.

That in mind she did take one last look over the cleaned tile floor and nodded to herself, pride shining in her pale eyes. She would do her best to clean this place up, and then she would work on redecorating. Letting her thoughts go to where she wanted to be now - Destiny City. She let her eyes fall closed as she focused herself on getting back to Destiny City.

It was when she felt the brush of heat against her skin, felt a cool breeze, that she took a glance about before powering down and taking off for home, she really could use a shower and a rest. After the shower, and before the rest, she would get something to eat...maybe take out for once. Yes, take out sounded good right about now.

She hadn’t been to her wonder in weeks...maybe two months? She honestly had lost track of time, something that normally didn’t happen for her, but she’d been caught up with work and school, she was so close to graduating. Once she got done with her spring semester she was done - she was graduated!

She had her classes already picked for the next semester and this one was winding down, slowly, but she was comfortable enough with her classes that she was sure she’d do fine on her exams and final papers. Winterlynn was sure it would go well and that had her comfortable enough to decide she could go to her wonder - it had been too long. She had boxed up some recent purchases, she had done what she never did - splurge. She knew her wonder had no lights and not knowing how day and night ran, especially with the changing of seasons, Winterlynn had decided to buy a bunch of candles and candle holders.

The candle holders were a simple silver color while the candles themselves were white, simple and got the job done, they had been boxed up earlier for ease of transport to her wonder. She had a grill lighter as well as matches with her, incase the lighter decided not to work at some point. She might not have electricity at her wonder but she would have light now - finally. That gave her working water and due to that heat, she needed to find bathrooms soon, but now she’d have light. It was another improvement to her wonder and maybe now she could explore more….she really needed to find a bathroom and that was the other things she had brought - bathroom essentials!

She had decided that today was the day she found this important room, maybe even a private bathroom where a shower or bath tub would be, and she had come prepared for it!

Everything she needed in her box, including water and something light to eat, she had left her apartment and walked a ways from home while ignoring how odd she must look. When someone asked her if she needed help she lied, explaining she was just walking around the corner to bring it to her parents home. The civilian, nice as he was, taken care of she wait till he was out of sight before ducking into an alleyway and powering up.

Once she had powered up the squire of Delphi took off for home, or rather her wonder. The idea of it being home, or a home, wasn’t new but it was a thought which had been growing stronger. The place, though freezing cold, was comforting and peaceful. She didn’t need to deal with people and yet she was more than willing to bring people here with her - to share it. She liked her wonder and wanted to fill it with people and the sounds which came with people. If she could just get it cleaner and find the bathrooms she might invite people, her team, to her wonder to spend some time.

There wasn’t much to see or do, unlike Hyperborea’s, wonder but Delphi was still a lovely place - something fit for a postcard, especially a Christmas card. If she could get away with it she would use her wonder for Christmas cards in fact, but that would be...impossible. That didn’t mean she didn’t plan on decorating for the holiday though. She would find a way to do so, on her next trip.

When Delphi arrived, boots landing on the stone pavement, she took a moment to adjust to the sudden change in temperature as well as the difference from pavement to stones. It was a little jarring as she could land with a heel in a dip that might offset her balance with the suddenness of the different from the flat surface of pavement back in Destiny City and the stones here at Delphi. Luckily she had not yet arrived with her heel in a dip or in a crack or small hole that had likely once been a crack but made wider, bigger, from the snow and ice once covering the stones.

Shifting the box in her arms she made her way across the open square toward the library to the right, in tent upon bestowing the building with some candle holders and candles before she would move to the other library and then the central court building. She had enough to light many rooms but she knew she’d need more, a lot more, in order to light up the whole place. It would take time, and money, to get enough but she would do it. She would bring light to her wonder so it was a warm light beckoning into the coldness of Polaris...to the no one that was there. It would be an open invitation but it was written to no one, as no one lived here.

Shaking her head, wishing to dispel the melancholy and sadness she continued on, boots hitting the ground as she walked with purpose toward the library. It was as she approached the fountain that she stopped. There had been ice there, still unmelted, the last time a small boulder of ice but now it seems that the ice had melted and given way to a rock. It wasn’t a simple rock, as one might think, but this one was obviously here for a reason - with a purpose.

Leaning down, squatting, Delphi set the box in her arms down so she could look over the rock. She knew it was here by purpose, without even noticing the etchings she now saw. Shallow due to age but still there. This rock had been put here and something told her that it wasn’t the only one - that more had been here over time...over the generations. There was no memory but rather a feeling, a strong feeling.

Pulling a glove off she reached out to touch the stone gently and that was when it hit, a memory. She had never had one before but she could see it, the stone, being lowered into place and the words were fresh the marks carved into the stone rough and sharp about the edges. The stone was smooth, perhaps polished, and a voice speaking words she didn’t know but she heard one familiar word at the end - Delphi.

Clapping sounded from behind her and she turned slowly, her pale lavender eyes landing on people - many people. Clapping and coming forward to clap a hand onto the figure who stood just above and behind her, they had moved through her to place the stone in it’s place. The ground under it, the stones, had clearly been removed and replaced...something had been buried.

She couldn’t understand the words, couldn’t even hear them all, as things around her faded back to the present and she let her legs give out as she fell back onto her a** and just sat there staring. She knew, again she just knew, that other rocks were under ground...buried by previous knights of Delphi. This one was from the last knight - before herself. It was something she had to do - bury the old rock and place a new one.

“I need to make one...a declaration...dedication to service.” The words passed her lips slowly, as if taking the time to taste them and feel them out. When she slowly pushed herself up and onto her feet she picked up the box and hurried for the library, off to the right, she would think on how she would copy that stone. She knew she had to do one of her own, and bury the old one, but the particulars she would need time to work on. In the meantime, since she was here, she was going with her original plan.

When she opened the door to the library the Squire went right the nearest table and set the box down. Opening it she started to pull out candle holders and candle sticks. Candle sticks were put into the holders before being dispersed about the room, up and down stairs, on each table.

It took time to place them all but once done the search for a bathroom started. There should, logically, be one in this building as well as one in the other library. She just...needed to find them. This search led her out of the library and to the very open hallway outside of the library. The hallway had columns and was circular, going around the outside of the library, as a walk around was conducted for the first time a door was found and after some fighting it did give way and the door was pulled open. Inside - a bathroom. Sighing in relief she went the other way, hoping for two as it would make the most amount of sense. Indeed, she was lucky and found a matching bathroom but clearly set up for males.

A candle and holder was produced from her collection and one placed in each bathroom before she was off to the other library to bestow it with some light giving candle sticks and the needed candle holders.

With that done, and the box empty of candles, she went back to fill the bathrooms with toilet paper, hand towels, soap, and other things. She had more, incase she found a full bathroom in her exploration today, but for now the box laid more than half empty in the library as she went exploring in an attempt to find living quarters and a full bathroom. She had a lot of ground to cover...this could take along time.
