Ferros went oddly still in Jordan's mind at the shortened version of his name. What is it? Jordan asked.
I don't know, Ferros said again, but he sounded pleased, a kind of mellow contentment under the statement.
"Ferros didn't want to stop either," Jordan admitted, laughing. "Man, you guys can really hit too. Like stepping in front of a train, damn." He desummoned Ferros and moved over to loop his arm around Rep's waist. "Gotta do that again sometime when we're recovered."

Rep leaned against Jordan as much as he got away with, radiating smugness. He wasn't a gracious winner, and it hadn't occurred to him in the least that maybe he'd been allowed to win. "You know the more you do it. Like in succession, the weirder and ******** trippier it gets. Like, fear gets all mixed up and confused. Feels good."
Tracey's disappointment receded as he realised he wasn't going to get more fight no matter how much he whined but instead cooled to the level of calm and placidness that was normally reserved for after he'd had a good clean and polish.

"Yeah? You guys were experimenting, huh?" Jordan laughed. "I don't think we've ever pulled more than two in a row."
That was only once, Ferros said wistfully. I wasn't hungry for a day.

Does that mean we can try it again? Ferros sounded hopeful.
Not right this instant. Sheesh, you're really pushy today.
I'm hungry. There were complex overtones to the thought, anxiety and anticipation and a thrum of satisfaction like a deep purr, accompanied by the faint melancholy edge that sometimes surfaced when they thought about Tracey. Ferros retreated slightly into himself when he realized that Jordan had noticed, a defensive edge entering the flavor of his thoughts.

There was a brief lull of silence as he could feel the fallen angel trying to figure out how he knew this and for a second it was almost painful as he looked but found nothing, left with a desperate sort of confusion. He found himself reaching out without realising he was.

There was a surprised gratefulness from Tracey, Rep didn't say particularly nice things very often, even in his thoughts.

"Now that we know it's there, we should be able to repeat it, anyway. Feels nice, huh?" Jordan's thumb rubbed absently along the band of Ferros's ring.
I can do it instead of flaming if I want to, Ferros offered, a little subdued. In spite of the faint edge to his mood, he felt good, pleasant and contented now that he had calmed down from the high pitched tension of charge and hunger.

"Aye, it does. Its like, soothing. Like a sauna but not uncomfortable. Patched up a hefty chunk of shield too I think." Not that he knew the state of his shield half the time since Tracey kept important things like that mostly on a need to know basis rather than freely letting him know where he could safely keep attacking things.
"But aye, a break sounds like a really nice wee thing right now." he grinned.
