The reasons for power were the same for everyone typically. Everyone wanted the power to protect themselves and the people they cared for. Some wanted this more than others, some seen it in another way but in the end it would trace back to the same reasons. Nickeline was no different. Nickeline wanted to be strong, she wanted to be able to take care of herself and defend herself against anyone who tried to stop her. Most of all, she wanted to be able to claim her rightful place in the world. As shrewd as it sounded, it all stemmed from the same things.

"Taking over the world, of course," she said rather nonchalantly. She simply smiled at Irene after saying it, a devious looking expression growing as her eyes looked over Irene. She'd come from Greece all the way to America so she was doing a pretty good job already with the world part of that goal. Of course, that too was a lie. Why would anyone possibly tell the truth when lying was much more interesting.

Irene wasn't quite sure what to make of that. Taking over the world? It sounded like something a villain in a cheesy movie would say. Surely there had to be more to it than that. There was no way anybody in this day and age could think that it was possible to rule an entire planet alone. Even if they did have magical alien powers.

"Is that what you want, or what all of you want? The people you work with, I mean." It would make a little more sense if this was all a part of some large sinister plot. A single person aiming for world domination probably wouldn't get very far, but an organization would have more manpower and more resources. An organization with black magic at their disposal could be very effective indeed. Still, that left a gaping hole in the grand scheme. "If that's the case, why come here? There are many of your fighters in this city already. Wouldn't it be more effective to divide and conquer?" As soon as Irene spoke, she realized what a stupid thing that was to say. Discussing motivations with the enemy was one thing, but giving them advice on how to take over the world was really going overboard.

If the world was simply too large to rule alone then perhaps simply destroying it would work as a substitution. Given the choice, Nickeline was definitely more likely to break it than let someone else have it. Was it what she wanted though? Well, maybe not the entire world but a small country was definitely on the list of things she wanted. That and one glorious throne to sit on while ruling over it.

"I did not ask anyone." In hindsight it was unlike her but she had been blinded by the idea of power much like Irene was currently. She was willing to do what needed to be done to get it and even if she asked it wasn't like they would have told her their grand scheme. All the talking was too much for Nickeline to deal with right now so when she was given a good out, she took it.

"Thanks for the tips," she said rather cockily.

"Breathless," she murmured in English, leaving the attack to have its twist on Irene. The game was over for her, bringing Nickeline no more amusement so instead of following up with another attack Nickeline simply turned heel and left. She was going to go home and sleep now: All this talking was more tiresome than she remembered.

There was more that Irene wanted to say. So much more. She wanted to know how anyone could be okay doing what the bad people did. She wanted to say that there were other options. She wanted to offer herself as a willing listener, though that was probably a terrible idea. But this girl was stuck somewhere new that she wasn't prepared for, and the feeling of being stuck was one she could sympathize with. Irene had always felt like she was stuck in Destiny City, a prisoner of her parents and her ailments. Becoming a senshi had given her new ways to expand her boundaries. With this girl, it seemed like it had the opposite effect.

Before she could figure out what to say first, she found that she couldn't say anything. She tried to breathe and couldn't. Repeated attempts were no more successful. Irene pawed at her throat, panicking. Was this an asthma attack? If so, it was unlike any she'd experienced before. The closest thing she could compare it to was the big battle with the smoke, where her lungs just seemed to stop working. Now they worked, but there was nothing for them to process.

Finally, the air seemed to come back in a rush, and she took several deep breaths and clutched a stitch in her side. The other senshi was, of course, gone. Irene stared at the spot where she'd been for several moments. As a battle, that was a total failure. As a learning experience on the whole... whether she'd learned anything concrete or not, she'd think about the meeting for a long time to come.
