Maia wanted to continue her b-line for her brother, but her mouth could only drop open at the antic of the senshi before her before it morphed into a deep frown, wondering how heavy the piece of cement could possible be. She'd gotten it out of the dumpster, right?
She headed for Irene instead because the youma was about to toss her like a ragdoll just as it had Shang. "Stop, watch out," she shouted to the pounding senshi barely making it close enough to her in time to grab up the cement. It was certainly heavy, but she could lift it. It slowed her motions however and she didn't see the fist until it was too late and she found herself hitting the wall hard, just as Shang had.
Shang had managed to recover from the hard blow, thanking his stars no that he'd spent so much time being, punched at, flipped and thrown by his sister. It seemed making her training was working for one thing at least and that was his endurance.
He scrambled toward the cement piece calling to Irene not really sure if she escaped the youma's wrath, but knowing his sister hadn't. "Help me with this, so we can dust this thing and get out of here."DivineSaturn Thanks for the gifties <3

The fact that the chunk of cement had been pushed out of the dumpster was partly thanks to luck, partly thanks to momentum and gravity. The simple fact was that Irene didn't have the strength needed to lift it, or anything much heavier than a shopping bag. Her patrols hadn't done much to change that, and no amount of telling herself she was strong would change it either. For a moment, it seemed like nothing ever would.
Maia's warning came in the nick of time. Irene reacted before she could think about it, jumping back and missing a swipe in her direction. It missed her, but hit the older senshi instead, much to her dismay. She dropped her rocks and was about to go check on her, but the knight called her back, and she hesitated. She wanted to make sure that the other girl was okay, but defeating the monster was her mission. Which was more important?
After a moment of indecision she raced back towards Shang, reaching down and putting her arms around the hunk of cement again. "Ready when you are!"

Shang of course was worried for his sister too, but he knew she would probably scold him for getting distracted from the task at hand. They needed to get rid of youma before they all took another hard blow possibly one they wouldn't recover from. Maia was a tough cookie and he was sure she'd be fine. She had survived much worse.
When Irene put her arms around the hunk of cement Shang followed suit, watching the youma that seemed to be ready to strike them once more. Shang knew they had to wait as long as they could for the right opening though. "When I say, we chuck it at its chest. We just have to have a good opening."
The opening came quickly as the youma decided to strike once more arms going up and present there target to the.
"Now," shouted Shang and went to lift the heavy, very heavy cement piece, swing it back and forward to send it sailing.
Maia had recovered quickly enough even though her side really hurt. She groaned and watched as her brother and Irene seemed to be attempting to take the monster out.

Those few moments of waiting were painful, almost as much as being attacked by the youma had been. Worries kept flickering through Irene's mind. What if the youma attacked the older girl again? What if it attacked them? What if she messed up somehow? Or worse, what if she didn't mess up, and their plan didn't work anyway?
The word "now" echoed in her ears, and she strained, lifting the cement and heaving it forwards with every ounce of strength she had. As soon as it left her arms she sank to the pavement, unable to try anything else in the event that her fears were realized. If this didn't work, they were all dead.
But despite the number of things that could have gone wrong, nothing did. The cement struck the youma in the chest, in a weak spot Irene hadn't been able to reach on her own. It let out a keening screech as it collapsed in on itself like a deflating balloon, making Irene put her hands over her ears. Finally, it was over. It wasn't what she could call a victory, but she wasn't dead, and she hadn't been totally useless. That had to count for something.
"Oh!" Now that the monster was out of the way, Irene ran for the other senshi, kneeling beside her. "Are you okay? Should I call for help? Can I get you anything?" She was still angry, for having her win taken from her, but this was not the time to argue about that, not when someone was in pain.

Shang hadn't like the cry anymore that Irene did, but he didn't cover his ears. No he took satisfaction in the cry knowing the youma was defeated they wouldn't be seeing the likes of it again. He turned to tell the girl she'd done a great job and he wouldn't have done very well without her, but she already headed over to Maia.
Maia frowned at the girl who knelt beside her, brushing her off and getting to her feet. "The only thing you can tell me is what you think you were doing? You could have been killed. Bravery is one thing but,"
Shang was beside his sister have rushed over to stop her rant, "calm down Maia. We're all fine. I know you don't like to see other getting it handed to them, but it turned out okay."
Maia glared at her brother, but took a deep breath, holding it for a second and releasing it hard. "You need to be more careful. How can you realize your true potential if you nearly get yourself into situations you clearly cannot..."
"Maia," Shang interupted again.
Shang turned to Irene, "thanks for you help over there. I really couldn't have done it without you. Don't mind my sister. She is really big on making sure senshi and knight alike make out of this war in one piece as well as make it to her power level. She doesn't want to see them picked off by youma and negaversers and dark senshi. I think was the rant I got a few days ago."
Maia had spent a moment counting to ten, before looking to the pair again, "I'm sorry."

"W-well, who asked for your help anyway?" Irene stammered defensively. Try to help a person and they yelled at you for it! Never mind that she had done the exact same thing only a few minutes earlier. The two situations were totally different, obviously. She hadn't needed help, but this girl was clearly hurt.
It wasn't bad enough that this older senshi was accusing her of being reckless, but she was claiming that she wouldn't have been able to handle the situation at all, and that was so not true. If she couldn't handle things, she wouldn't have come out in the first place. "For your information, I'm not new at this. I've been a senshi for a whole..." It took her a moment to do the mental math. "A whole year and a half! So I know what I'm doing, even if I don't have big fancy wings like you do." What was it about those buttwings that gave people the right to boss other people around? Iris did it, and this girl did too.
The guy was trying to explain, but Irene shook her head. "If you want to help so much, then fight me. Right here, right now. The youma's gone, but I didn't get rid of it by myself, so it doesn't count." Sparring was something she hated, but if it would help make her stronger without her having to hunt another youma down, it would be worth the brief discomfort.

Maia took a deep breath trying to rain her growing temper in. She was a lady, a well mannered lady and she could handle this situation. Even if currently she really wanted to berate the girl her idiocy and her hands literally itched to slap her. One .. two ... three ... four ... she counted while the girl ranted about not being new and whatever else.
Shang frowned deeply at the situation that was unfolding and then he was being fussed at too and challenged. She raised his hands as if to motion that he was happily bowing out of a fight with a girl.
"I really don't think that ..." he started only to be interrupted by Maia.
"Do it Shang. To be honest, it might help her and it will be a good judging for you as well."
Shang looked literally stunned and quickly went to protest, but Maia had turned to Irene. "First one down wins. You'll start on my count."
Shang frowned and looked at Irene before quickly apologizing and taking a stance. He really didn't want to, but he kind of felt like Irene wasn't going to back down.

Despite her boasts, Irene hadn't really expected anyone to take her up on her challenge. They were all sore from fighting the youma. But she was momentarily stunned, and then quite pleased, when it seemed like she would have an opponent after all. The night wasn't over yet. There was still a chance for her to prove herself.
"Understood." She shook out her legs quickly, then took a fighting stance opposite Shang. Instead of saying she was ready, she merely nodded slightly, not taking her eyes off of him. When she got the signal, she was going to go on a full-out offensive, and to make that happen, she needed to concentrate.

Maia had to admit despite being very irritated with Irene she liked the girls determination, not her recklessness, but her determination for sure. She wasn't actually sure Shang had a chance against the girl, but she'd been training Shang and that was a least something.
She watched them take their stances and waited until both were ready before she nodded straightening out her fuku and clearing her voice. "Okay no headshots, or crotch shots, but all else is fine. Now start."
Shang noted that his sister didn't actually count, but decided not to mention it instead keeping his focus on Irene. He really didn't want to spare against another young girl and very much so didn't want to beaten up either. He truly had enough bruises from his training with Maia.
He kept a defensive pose and for the time being made no attempt to go after Irene.

Irene gave no indication that she heard the rules, though she did, and had every intention of following them. She wasn't going to hurt someone just to prove her ability. That was wrong no matter how you looked at it. Nor was she going to hold back. The guy she was fighting was much taller than she was, so that was enough of a handicap.
As soon as Maia gave the word she charged. Her punches, she knew, were generally ineffective and trying to get that close to him would be bad for her. His reach was longer than hers, but if she went low, maybe she could catch him by surprise. So she crouched, jabbing one leg out to try and catch him in the knee or shin.

Maia sat back and watch slightly impressed with Irene for taking the offensive and knowing her brother wouldn't. She couldn't help but to smile even if she was routing for her brother to knock the girl on her butt.
Shang hadn't been expecting the kick, but almost automatically jumped to avoid it. He was very use to being kicked at because Maia generally fought with her feet, though she knew that and changed up every so often. It made Shang feel slightly more confident in his ability to actually do well in the spar.
He shuffled around fully expecting Irene to move with him, but not wanting to stay still while he tried to figure out a way to down the girl. He really didn't want to hit her, but still he wondered if a good push would do the trick.
With that he pensive expression leaving his face, he ran right at Irene to give the girl a good shove, wanting to knock her over while secretly hoping she was made of tougher stuff and remained on her feet.

It was almost expected that her first attack would be dodged. Irene wasn't a very strong fighter, either in brute force or in tactics. What she had going for her were speed, flexibility, and rock-solid determination. Even if everything else went against her, she would find some way to win. She had to.
In this battle, that meant finding a way to make this guy take her seriously, and then knock him down. Except he was trying to knock her down. Irene stepped back, but part of his shove connected, and she stumbled. She was quick to recover, though, and decided to aim high next, with an elbow to the shoulder. Considering their height difference, it wound up being more like an elbow to the ribcage, but she hoped the effect would be similarly debilitating.

Shang was rather satisfied for a moment as Irene failed to go down, even if she stumbled a bit. He smirked to himself glad the girl was made of tougher stuff, but that only last a minute because her elbow connecting with his ribcage causing his to clutch at it and stumble back a little turning a glare on the girl. Shang wasn't a fighter and probably never would be. Maia was training him and he was learning the moves and getting stronger, but he didn't have much drive for fighting even when he was angry. He knew right now, however, that his sister was trying to make a point, so he quickly straightened himself out and decided to try and end the little impromptu spar quickly. Shang charged Irene intent on grabbing on of her arms and slinging the girl, using his weight to make sure she came off her feet when he pulled. If he succeeded he'd toss her when she was unbalanced and she would go down. He really hoped it would work because he didn't actually want to hurt Irene.

Irene's only response to the glare was to smile. She'd landed a blow and made her opponent take notice, and that felt good. Now all she had to do was do that again. And again. And possibly again. There was a good bit more of the page than there was of her, and it would probably take several hits from her for him to actually go down.
Her success made her bold, and she lunged out again with her elbow, this time aiming a little higher. It was a bad move. He seemed to see her coming, grabbing her arm and pulling her down. Irene squawked and tried to wrench free, but he was too strong and managed to toss her aside.
So Irene was down, but she wasn't out. Rather than struggle back to her feet, she decided to stay on the ground, grappling for Shangi-La's foot with the hopes of putting him off balance, and maybe even pulling him down.

Shang felt momentarily triumphant at his ability to take Irene down without actually hurting her and more so he had won or so he thought. Irene grabbed hold of his in an attempt to take him down, but it didn't really work out in her favor. Shang was indeed unbalanced, but instead of falling back he fell forward, his hand instantly thrown out to catch himself.
“Move,” he shouted as fell for if she didn't he'd catch himself on back and it was look like a very awkward contortionist act. He doubted that would be fun for either of them.
Maia found herself laughing in the background and moving forward intent on pulling the pair apart because she knew she could. The had been first one down and Irene had gone down first, but she loved that Irene knew down did not mean out.
