Zia beamed the way she did when Lily decided (Re: was guilted) into resume training. There was something nostalgic in having a senshi to train, even if she couldn't call Hypnos her own. Maybe. Would it be unethical to steal her and claim her? Probably.
"Okay, kid, pretend you're out of magic and all you've got are those tiny fists. Show me your stance," She said maybe a little too enthusiastically as she shifted her feet to a slightly more defensive stance herself to sort of demonstrate.
No matter what Hypnos did, Zia was going to disapprove. And gave her forehead a bit of a light shove. "The point is to brace yourself for when something comes at ya, because s**t is so going to come at you."

Hypnos didn't fight. She was a lover, then a runner, and then somewhere way past bunny impersonator was a fighter. Actually, maybe even further than that. She didn't understand the first thing about fighting so her stance was definitely pathetic, her hands shaking nervously as she held them up like she was blocking rain from hitting her.
"I could just run until I have magic..." she suggested, not at all liking the idea of things coming at her.
That's when Zia poked her forehead, destroying her stance completely.

Zia's arms flopped to her sides in exasperation. She didn't understand. But then, Zia had always been a fighter. She might've been more repressed before Zirconia, but even then it didn't take much to make her do things like throw another girl into the lake at camp. She's been punching and biting her way through life before she had youma to focus on.
"No, here," She closed the distance she'd purposely put between them to adjust her arms and nudge her feet out with the side of her shoe.
"You feel a little sturdier?" She asked, before shoving her forehead again, this time a little harder.

Hypnos felt very awkward like this, and very unlady-like. Why did she have to stand like this? Her body urged herself to go back to the way and when she attempted to Zia had ended up shoving her forehead again. She stumbled back but her body stood its ground.
"N-no, not really," she said. "I feel weird like that." Exposed like that, not defensive at all.

"Don't be so stiff! You gotta move a little!" Zia complained. This kid had zero fighting instinct. She shoved her harder, aiming to knock her down. "Come on, get angry." Maybe if she was mad she'd get a little natural aggression?
"Hypnos," Zia sighed, shoulders sinking as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Some people are just... you never know when someone's going to just go crazy and turn on you. Ever. There are a lot of bad people in the world," And she had told her this with legitimate worry, but added for training purpose, frowned at her with a dire seriousness. "I'm one of them."
And that's when she shoved her hard.

If Hypnos never got upset at her parents for practically abandoning her, her sister for neglecting her and Xavier for disappearing then it was unlikely she was going to get aggressive with Zia. She would take all that pain and keep it wrapped up around her heart until it finally killed her. She didn't want to get angry, there was no reason to get angry!
"I-I don't want to..." she whispered, trying to hold her ground if anything.
The words Zia was speaking now confused Hypnos. She thought Zia was nice, why was she saying someone could turn on her... including her? That was not nice, but then it hit her: Literally. Zia had shoved her so hard that by no means would she be able to stand her ground. She fell, and she hit the ground with a loud yelp. She didn't want to fight, she thought this was training! Slowly, very slowly, she got up and looked at Zia.
"Why...?"

Zia rolled her eyes at the why, and reacted like she was annoyed. She was, but probably inordinately given the situation. Hypnos reminded her a little too much of herself, back when she was a lot more naive, and she didn't like looking back that far too closely, so she simply rejected this little girl's pain, and opted not to look too closely here either.
"Jesus, kid, if you're going to try to take monsters alive, you gotta be able to take being knocked over," she lectured with a clear air of condescension, and then knocked her over again with increasing harshness.

Hypnos fell over again, cutting the palms of her hands as she caught herself on the concrete. Zia may have had a point about taking being knocked over but the youma didn't know any better when they pushed her around and chased her like a starving dog but Zia did. She was getting annoyed with her and she didn't understand why. Tears formed over the corner of her eyes, her cut hands going to wipe them away. Youma attacking her she could handle because it was for the best but this person was suppose to be nice! This time she sat there on the ground before standing up awkwardly, brushing off her fuku of all the dirt.
"You are more malicious than a youma," she said, using a very specific term there. At least youma only wanted to eat her like an animal that didn't know any better.

Zia quirked an eyebrow at Hypnos, but mostly stared down at her with a weird combination of annoyance and disinterest. "Malicious? Seriously?" She put her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes. This training was supposed to turn into sparring, not smacking her around a ragdoll.
"Sorry, kid, I thought you wanted to learn how to handle s**t, but you're just being a weepy punching bag. I don't even have powers, or a weapon. If you can't even stay on your feet with me, how are you going to handle someone who's serious?"
Zia probably had a lot more to say, but she didn't have time when another voice barreled into the conversation. "Holy s**t, Zee, what are you doing to that kid?"
Noah had assumed the worst when it took his sister way too long to take out a few boxes, but walking in on her beating on a little girl was not on his list of possibilities.
"Training her?" Zia snorted derisively like it was obvious.
"Training her to what?!"
"Iunno. Take a punch?"
From Noah's expression, he was still pretty confused, and a little horrified at the whole scene. Without hesitation, he ran over to crouch down next to Hypnos, firmly pulling one of her hands away from her face to inspect the cuts with a worried frown. "Are you okay?"

Hypnos had thought the point of this was to capture youma better, but any youma she was going to capture certainly couldn't punch her... It left her feeling confused, and a bit like she had been tricked into something she didn't understand. She didn't need to be able to handle punches because she wasn't going to fight something like that, was she? She certainly didn't want to fight anyone.
She stood there in silence until suddenly there was a deeper voice rumbling through the alley. She looked up to see who it was as the two of them had a conversation about what they were doing, acutely curiously of who this new person was. He seemed nice though, but she'd thought the same as Zia! At least he wasn't punching her in the name of capturing youma and he seemed concerned about the state of her.
"I-I'm okay, I can take a lot!" She said with a small smile, looking to Zia for a minute. Despite what Zia had thought, she took those hits and kept getting up.
"Are you friends?"

Zia could, even if it was a minor glitch of emotions she wasn't currently displaying in all her annoyance and eyerolling, appreciate the fact that Hypnos did indeed keep getting up.
But she also cried and that was kind of embarrassing for both of them.
She didn't see how this was irrelevant to anything. Sure, youma didn't punch you and shove you to the ground, but they bite and poisoned and clawed you up, and Zia had suffered worse injuries from youma than people herself. The scars Ares gave her weren't exactly the only ones she was sporting these days.
Noah just saw his sister standing over a crying little girl, though. And he thought training was stupid, for what little of it he had. When she said she could take a lot, he just kind of gave her a sad look, and then flashed what Zia called his 'judgmental mom' face to his sister. Zia reacted to their simultaneous glances with an exaggerated "Ugggggh," And masterful final roll of the eyes.Followed by a "No," In unison with her brother. No, they were most certainly not friends. For two adult siblings who had spent more time together this last week then apart.
Noah stood up, bushing off his jeans and sending a cloud of flour into the air with each pat before offering both hands down to Hypnos. "You don't want to train with my sister, she's a mean lady. I'm making cookies inside," He said in a tone that was clearly trying to tempt her away.

Hypnos may have been a senshi but she was still just a child. She didn't compare to Zia, who at the age of 24 had been through much more than her, and the old soul of Zirconia within her who lived a life of battle. It was unreasonable to expect big change right away, although not wrong to hope, so when Noah offered her the olive branch of something much nicer than being pushed around, she took it without much thought otherwise.
"I love cookies," she smiled softly, accepting both of Noah's hands gladly. "Oooh, may I help you?" She loved to help!
