Kadira took a moment to carefully pull another vine from Ecliptic before saying anything. "Don't wiggle too much and I'll get you free. Then we can weave them together to make a net." The vines were effective and it took Kadira a bit of time to free her new friend enough that she would be able to step out of the remaining vines without being tangled up once more. "There." She said satisfactorily. The first step was done, they had plenty of vines, in fact Kadira was sure they had more vines than they could possibly need. "I think we can make a few traps. That was no matter where the squirrel ends up you can get him."

Kadira took a step back and then glanced up at the trees. "Are you going to try to catch it in the tre or wait til it's on the ground? The branches might get in the way of the net." As Ecliptic went on to explain they just needed to be quiet she gave a nod. It made sense really, for she had seen other animals run away from noise but then come back once it had gone quiet again. "How do we want to do the weaving?" She had never weaved a trap before but could see how effective the vines could be simply from them falling out of the tree onto Ecliptic. "We need to make sure the holes in it aren't too big so the quirrel can't escape, but I'm not sure how or where to start."

Ecliptic tried to stay as still as she could while the other filly helped her get untangled. It was harder then it looked because she was standing in a somewhat awkward position..but in the end Kadira was true to her word and had untangled her swiftly enough. Now that she was free of the pesky vines Ecliptic was able to turn her attention back to the task at hand.

"I think your right, the branches would be far to troublesome..so I guess we'll have to set it up on the ground." She agreed, eyeing the pile of vines at though simply staring at them would give her the answer she was looking for, "Why don't we lay them out straight on the ground first and then we can figure out how to do it. It's too hard to figure it out when they are all in a big pile like that." She finally suggested. Perhaps once they could fiddle with them untangled they would come up with a good way to do it. This was turning out to be a bit more challenging then Ecliptic had originally anticipated - but at least she had help now and she certainly wasn't going to give up just yet.

Kadira looked over the pile of vines, it would be a lot of work just to untangle them and lay them out like Ecliptic was suggesting, but it seemed like the best start to the project. After all how could they weave a net out of a tangle pile of vines? Well they probably could but it would likely be a very bad net. "Okay." She said ready to tackle the vines and help to straighten them out. Eying the pile she looked for a starting point. Her gaze lifted to look in the direction she had come from, wondering just how long it would take before Penthesilea or one of the other mares would come looking for her. Best get to work so that they could get this done before she was ushered away.

Bending her head Kadira took hold of an end of one of the vines and began to slowly back up pulling it from the pile praying that it wasn't tangled too badly with the others. Her eyes ticked up to Ecliptic. "Do you think this will take long?" She asked around the vine continuing to pull it out of the pile, giving it a slight tug when it caught on something but luckily it came loose and she was able to continue to pull it without having to track down a knot to undo it.

As Kadira began to pull at one end of a vine, Ecliptic spotted another loose end and started to drag it out of the pile too. Glancing at the other filly when she asked her question, Ecliptic had a feeling that this was going to take a touch longer then she had originally planned, in fact it would probably be lucky if they finished it before it got to late in the afternoon..but well. They could try right?

"I don't know..." She finally admit as she dropped her end of the vine after having dragged it out a fair ways. Glancing at the pile she narrowed her eyes slightly. IT was a really big pile and squirrels were very little..surely they wouldn't have to untangle and deal with the whole pile. "I mean I don't think we'll need to use the whole pile, they are kind of little animals...so lets just lay out the size we'll think we might need and go from there?"

Finally getting the vine free from the pile Kadira set down the end carefully so that it wouldn't tangle up as she went to grab another one. This was kind of fun, even if it was sort of like work, at least it was a break from constant traveling and training. With a sigh she wished that there was another filly for her to play with more often but within the small constantly moving herd there was only her unless they happened to stop near where another family was, and even then it didn't guarantee that she would be able to play. Giving her head a slight shake Kadira moved over to the pile of vines and selected another one to pull free.

Looking up at Ecliptic and then the vine she was pulling Kadira glanced at the one she had freed earlier. "They are kind of long, I don't think we will need to use too many of them unless you want a really big net." Grabbing hold of the vine she began to walk backwards once more. She felt excited that they might just finish this in time before having to return to the group of mares. Perhaps she could even convince they to stay here for a day or two so she could check in on Ecliptic's progress with the squirrel catching. While she doubted Penthesilea would allow that it might be worth a shot just asking about it.

The vine came to a sudden stop and when she tried to pull it free Kadira felt and saw the entire pile shift slightly. Hmm apparently she had picked a tangled one. Dropping the end of the vine Kadira made her way back to the pile trying to follow the vine into the jumbled mess of other vines to try to figure out where exactly it was tangled so she could get it free.

"I don't think we need a net that too big." Ecliptic agreed after a few moments thought, they really were little animals and judging by the length of the vines they were pulling out it didn't look like they would have to use very many of them at all. Dragging her own vine out and laying it on the ground Ecliptic studied the length and then pulled on end back to the other so that the vines were doubled up with one another. "I think this is long enough don't you think?" She asked the other filly, glancing over to see what was keeping her only to notice her trying to figure out a tangle.

Trotting over she studied the pile along with her. "I think it might be caught here." She suggested, pawing at the clump to try and loosen it a bit so that Kadira could pull an end free. If they got a few of the vines laid out Ecliptic was sure they would have enough, why if they got this tangle free and got lucky with the next couple they might even have the whole thing built and ready to try before it got too late. Maybe they would even catch a squirrel today!

"Depends on how many squirrels you want to catch at once." Kadira commented while trying to figure out the tangled vine. If they made the net only big enough to catch a single squirrel then Ecliptic really only had one shot at it, but if they net was bigger it might be easier to catch a squirrel, or several squirrels for that matter. Plus when she thought of it squirrels were fast, so a bigger net might be better to try to catch one that is one the move since it would likely start to run the moment it heard something. While she had heard her new friends question she didn't want to look up from the tangle and lose her spot as she tried to follow the jumble mass of vines while attempting to untangle this one.

When Ecliptic joined her and pointed out where she thought it looked to be tangled Kadira nodded and as the other filly pawed a few of the other vines around it free she took hold of the vine close to where it was tangled and started to slowly pull it backwards. At first it didn't budge but a moment later it slowly began to give way. Before she could say anything to Ecliptic the vine suddenly came completely loose and Kadira stumbled back a few steps before losing her balance and landing on her rump. Letting out a muffled laugh Kadira looked towards her friend and dropped the vine. "Well this one if free." She said with a laugh before getting up and giving her body a shake. Who knew trying to catch a squirrel would take so much work or hurt, but it didn't matter, she was having fun and getting to do something with someone her own age. Her eyes looked towards the vines they had separated from the pile, they had a few of them free already but it couldn't hurt to pull loose a few more, they might need extras just in case.

"Well we really only need one..or two if you want one..?" She questioned the other filly, it would be kind of neat if they both got one, but she wouldn't hold it against the other if she didn't want one. Squirrels weren't for everyone. Giggling as the other filly was suddenly stumbling backwards and falling on her rump Ecliptic gave her a sympathetic smile, they had both been the victim of such accident now. Ecliptic hadn't really considered that this endeavor would take so much work..oh well, she just had to keep telling herself that it would be worth it in the end.

Since the other filly was laughing Ecliptic assumed she wasn't hurt in any way and so she turned her attention back to the vines, looking at the few they had untangled and then back to the giant messy pile. "Just a couple more I think? This one here doesn't look to badly tangled.." She stated, picking up the end of one near the edge of the pile and giving an experimental tug. Thankfully it seemed like she was right because it didn't give much resistance before she had managed to pull it almost halfway free.

Kadira paused to consider for a moment. Maybe she should make one for herself, after all she didn't have a squirrel of her own or any neat animal to follow her around, so maybe this was her chance to try to get one. She could probably see herself with a squirrel. Maybe she'd be the only one in Penthesilea's heard with a squirrel and that would be pretty special. "Let's make two." She said with a nod before making her way back over to the pile. "A squirrel would be kind of neat to have I think. Or you'd have a spare on just in case." She didn't want to ruins her new friends chance to get a squirrel since it was originally Ecliptic's idea.

"Yeah I think a couple more would be good." Then they could move on to the next stage of making the nets which was...well she wasn't quite sure, probably attempting to weave them together into a net. Grabbing another end of a vine Kadira began to back up careful not to get it tangled with all the other vines they had separated from the pile.

"Maybe they will be matching squirrels! And then we'll each have one to remember each other by even when we aren't close.!" Ecliptic agreed with a bit of excitement. It was kind of sad that Kadira wasn't likely to be around for very long - her family would no doubt move on in the next few days at the very latest..but that didn't mean Ecliptic and Kadira had to stop being friends..someday they would be old enough to maybe visit one another without their families...and if they both had squirrels maybe they could use the little creatures to send messages to one another. She was sure they could figure out a way to do it somehow.

"Yes two is definitely a good choice I think." She agreed, helping her friend pull out a few more of the vines and lay them down before looking at them quizzically. "I think that should be enough..maybe more then enough but better to have to much then two little my mother always says!" She added with a slight laugh. Now of course they would have to figure out how to weave them together but Ecliptic was sure it wouldn't be too hard. "Maybe if we just kind of pull one over and under all the ones we have lined up here and then wrap the ends up so they don't come loose it will work?"

Kadira let out a bit of a laugh. "That would be really neat if that happened! And then they would get to play with each other when we see each other again, then we'd have to try and remember which squirrel was which." Her laughter grew a bit more before she brought it to a stop. It was so much fun being with another filly, part of her wished she could just stay here. Setting the last of the vines on the ground Kadira surveyed their work so far. There were a lot of vines and they could probably make more than two nets with all of them but they might just end up tangling some in their attempts to make a net so they might not have extras after all. "Two is good. Gives us more time together." Kadira was fearful that any moment now Penthesilea would show up and usher her away. She liked the mare a great deal but getting a chance to play was something she would never turn down.

Mention of something Ecliptic's mom says all the time made Kadira pause. Not knowing her own mother meant she didn't know if the mare had any phrases like that she used often. The filly gave her head a shake, she would not let her lack of knowing her mother ruin this day. Smiling at her friend she nodded at the suggestion. "Yeah that sounds good. I can lift the vines while you pull the other one under, that way they shouldn't get too tangled." If it didn't work then they could try something else but right now this was the best plan and she was willing to give it a try.

Ecliptic laughed along with her friend, her mind spinning images of two matching squirrels and the confusion it would cause them. It was an amusing game..but one that would never happen if they didn't get around to finishing these nets. So far they had pulled down, untangled and laid out the vines..but now was the hard part..putting it all together. Kadira's idea of one lifting the other pulling it through was a good one and Ecliptic nodded sagely in agreement. "Okay, I'll pick up this end here and then you lift up that vine thre and I'll poke it under." She agreed, moving to pick up her appointed vine and drag the end close to Kadira's vine. It might take a bit of work and they would have to be careful not to get tangled up themselves..but Ecliptic was glad the other filly had come along, having gotten started on this project she wasn't entirely sure she could have managed it all on her own.

"Okay..ready?" She asked Kardira, her words slightly mumbled as they were formed around the vine in her mouth. Lowering her head she prepared to stick her end of the vine beneath the one Kadira picked up. This first one would probably be the hardest, once they figured out how to do it Ecliptic was sure the rest would be faster.

"Okay." She said with a nod of her head and moved down the vine a bit so she could lift the vine but not be in the way of Ecliptic so that she could get the vine under. "Ready." She said and lowered her head. Grabbing hold of the vine Kadira lifted it, but careful so as to not get the vine tangled with any of the others around it. She watched as Ecliptic started to tuck the vine underneath. So far so good. Adjusting her grip on the vine so she could speak without too much mumbling Kadira looked down. "If you step over the vine down there you can come around and pull it through then lay it over the next vine." She took a small step back noticing that the vine was becoming a bit too slack and might cause them to start this off with a big tangled mess.

"Then I can set this one down and pick up the next." She really wanted to get this net done and to test it out. Maybe not on a squirrel but just to see how well their handy work on weaving was and to see if any adjustments needed to be made." Her eyes looked over all the other vines trying to help plan out how they would need to move the vines so they could do this fairly efficiently. If they went over and then under the next two vines then they could loop around and start doing this in a circle to form part of the net.

Eliptic nodded only very slightly at theo ther fillies words, wary of tangling the vines she was leery of moving to much to quickly, still the other filly's plan was a good one and quickly she tucked the vine under the one Kadira was holding up before pulling it through from the other side and dragging it over the next on in line.

This process was repeated a couple more times before the fillies started to circle back and before long several loops had been created in the 'net'...which was actually starting to look like a net more then just a big tangle pile of vines. "I think this will work!" Ecliptic stated with excitement in her voice as she looked over the net. "Just a few more turns with these vines and then we can try it out! And before dark too!" She added proudly as she glanced up at the sky. Alone this likely would have taken her a couple days - but with Kadira's help they had managed to get it done. Just went to show what could be accomplished with a good friend to help you out and even though they had only just met Ecliptic was already thinking of Kadira as her best buddy.

It was certainly not the easiest thing to do, and building this net required a lot of patience, but Kadira had lots of those. Patience was one of the first things Penthesilea had taught her, and after traveling day after day she had learned to be patience and wait for the moment when their break in walking would be made. The time spent was filled lifting a vine, making sure Ecliptic was out of the way before setting it down and moving two vines down to repeat the process. It certainly wasn't hard work in that sense, but if they rushed it the vines would tangle and they'd need to start all over again. No, this was one of those jobs were slow and steady did win in the end. Kadira took a step back and examined the net as well before looking at Ecliptic with a large smile on her lips. "Yeah, it looks great!" Some might call them crazy for thinking building a net was fun or a good idea but Kadira was quite happy about it. "This is so exciting!"

Her gaze lifted to the sky as well. Wow, it was later! She was surprised Penthesilea hadn't come to find her yet. Best get this net done before that happens. Seeing what needed to be done Kadira gave a nod and helped Ecliptic move the last few vines into place and most importantly made sure they were securely tied together. "Let's test it out!" She exclaimed as she stepped back from the completed net. Though it was small, after all you didn't need a big net to catch a squirrel, Kadira had an idea on how to test it. She trotted several feet away and then looked at Ecliptic. "I'm a squirrel, try and catch me with it." Then she began to move around a bit, since squirrel rarely stood still and waited to see how the net worked out.
