Gift to Child: A satchel with potions he made wrapped up in a fur lined blanket all made with "love". RP Response:Note: He used and abused my brain to get what he wanted XD
His eyes pierced into the night, blood night had finally left and the busy shopping season was about to begin. He wasn't the happiest guys for this to begin, in fact he hated it with joy. He was like the Grinch who stole Christmas, only he was the Grinch that scheme to never give Christmas. Oh how he wished for the misery for others. Like his ungrateful pathetic excuse of a daughter named Anica. She found a mate and this he hated, she ...oh he loathed her. His eyes burned with rage. He was going to get her and her little mate as well.
He glared into the dark night. What was he going to do to get back at her. More sibling might do the trick...But he didnt have a victim to use and abuse for kids. Plus the first one was half a mistake, though he does cherish his other daughter Anze. A well, young, beautiful, smart, and intelligent young lady he had on his paws. He loves her to the ends of the earth and if anyone hurt her he would kill for her, practically like any other normal father would do for his children.
He began to smile upon this idea, get another child, one to raise like his own, to give Anze a sibling that she would cherish and one to annoy the s**t out of his mongrel child, Anica. His eyes beemed with happiness. But how he thought....He continued to look into the night. A shooting star flew past his nose in the sky. He looked closer, and decided to follow the star. He dashed through the haunting woods. The twinkling star led him right to a ran down home on the edge of the lane.
He blinked at the home. What in the world was near his holy sanctuary? A house...with KIDS!!! He jumped with a joy. He snuck over to the window and peered in with his face smacked against the window. Kids, lots of them, from tots to older ones. This cooled his heart. Some where sad and then some where happy to actually have a home. He eyed each one until he found the perfect soul that he wanted or needed.
Now how to win the heart of a kid? Candy? Toys? Warmth? Food? Love?... He pondered on himself if he had any love in him. Of course he did, he was Chief Shrehifo, he had everything at his will and if he didn't, he would kill to get it. He sat in the tall over grown grass. He had to come up with something to give the little tyke. He looked down and seen his satchel. He leaped into the forest with his idea. He would make a fur lined satchel with potions and give it to the young kit and show him/her how to use them "properly". His lips curled with excitement as he skinned a furry bear, that died in the woods.
He worked fast and sewed the satchel up with deer thread, the finest thread that there is. He placed a few of his favorite potions in the bag and wrapped it up in a furry blanket. He rushed back to the orphanage and stood outside. It was now or never. He gulped and looked at the wooden red door. What if the child rejected him, what would he do? He shook his head, he was Chief Shrehifo, he was the master of trickery and he knew just how to win this little child's heart. He walked in the door and scanned the room for the child that he wanted.
Over in the corner was a child looking up into the star filled sky. 'That One!' He thought in his head. He walked over to the young one and looked up into the sky. "Pretty nifty isnt it?" He said all calm and smoothly.
The young kit, looked up at chief. "Yeah, so big. Wonder how they got up there. " The young kit looked back into the sky, amazed with all its wonder.
He gave a chuckle, "I know how they got up there."
"You do? How sir?" They young one replied with bedazzlement to his/her eyes.
He looked down at the kit, "A long, Long, long time ago the sky was empty, with a sea of nothing. Everything was dark, some like it that way and others didn't i on the other hand liked to have a little company so i said i want stars. And threw up a handful of sand into the sky and that is how stars were born."
The kit looked at him, "Really!? Wow" With that the kit smiled, he/she knew he was kidding after all that would make chief like 10 billion years old or more. "I don't think that is how it happened, sir."
Chief looked at him and gave a sneaky smile, "Nah i guess your right, i didn't make it happen. But hey i like you, I have something for you. You are very smart and intelligent for your age." He hands the small kit the present. "This is for you. I thought maybe if you would come home with me, i could teach you more about the stars, those bottles, and everything i do. Plus i would give you a safe, loving home to stay in. Would you like that kid?" He looked at the kid with begging eyes. His tricky was playing and he hoped the kid would say yes.
The kid looked at him, he just met this guy and this was going to be his/her father. The young kit smiled and looked at the gift. A blanket and a satchel with liquid in bottles. Something new he/she never seen before. "Would you like it if I did say yes? For you to teach me the stars, what they mean? To feed me, love me, and keep me safe from danger?"
"Yes and the best part is you will have the best sister in the world, her name is Anze!" He smiled at the thought of his daughter's name. "Would you like to have an older sister?"
The kit paused, an older sibling, someone to look after her/him. Tears filled this young kits eyes, "I would love to have the opportunity to be a part of your family. Are you sure you would like to have me?"
Chief paused, have you, of course he wants to teach you everything he knows that sneaky little devil. He narrowed his eyes into the sky and then released the face and looked down at the kit. He seen tears forming into the kit's eyes. He took a piece of cloth and dabbed them gently against the kit's face, "Why yes, yes i would."

I seek a child of my own!
Owner of Parent: Trinkuh Parent's Name: Charu Parent's Image:Image -- Owner of Child: Trinkuh
Gift to Child: a stuffed kitty that is a cross between a tiger, lion and Cheetah RP Response: Charu had grown lonely living all a lone and see all the happy mothers with bowls of their own had made her very sad. So once she heard about all the poor babies and kits at the orphanage she jumped at the idea of getting to have a child of her own. But she had to bring a gift. She thought long and hard soon came up with the idea of making a whole new stuffed animal for the child. She got to work with fake fur and needle and thread in paw. She made the cutest thing she had ever seen a mix between a lion, tiger and a cheetah. It was so fluffy and so cute. She was very prude of her work. She then wrapped her gift up and headed out the door to meet to cute orphans. With one step out into all she could think is 's**t it be cold out.' she hurried to the orphanage so she didn't have to be in the snow for very long. Once she got to the orphanage she hurried in side quickly. Once inside she looked around at the all the children it was so hard to belive all of them had no one to take care of them. Her eyes soon fell on a child who was at the window looking out side at the snow. She slowly walked over to the child."Hello dear."The Young one jumped a mile high. The child turned to look at her."Hello." Charu felt so bad for scareing the small one."I didn't mean to scare you but what are you looking at?"The little one looked back out side then at Charu."I'm watching all my friends get new homes......no one wants me." Charu's heart just dropped so much when hearing that from a little girl."Come now don't say that...i have a gift for you."The little one look up at with a bright smile and shining eyes. Charu then pulled out the stuffed animal she had made for the young one.The young ones eyes light up with joy and gave Charu a big hug."Thank you i love it...it so cool."Charu smiled brightly."And its one of a kind just like you." Charu hugged the little one back."How would you like a home of your own?" Charu asked the young one. the young one smiled and jumped for joy."I would love a home!"With that Charu went off to fill out the paper work.
The lights were out. A darkening sky was the silent female's call, and it took her mere moments to spring from the fence to the gutter, a somersault taking her to the slanted roof and her target; an open window. She was the wind, breezing through the curtains with no more than a whisper, her shoes making only the softest of scuffs on the floorboards. She held plenty of treasures from earlier, the silver and gold at her thigh clinking delicately against her fur, but this building... it was too big NOT to have something of value, and her forbidden curiosity had gotten the better of her.
Just inside the ledge, however, she paused. There were beds.... everywhere. Was she in a storage room? A quick sweep with her gaze and she could point out trunks at the ends of the beds... which were more like cots, now that she'd properly paid attention... and stuffed animals on the rare pillow or two. Something was... off here.
"Who the heck are you?"
The huffed tone of a kit startled her, and Harlot turned to look at him with a smirk. "Oops, looks like I'm caught." She purred, dripping with sarcasm as she lifted up her paws in defeat. The kit, however, wouldn't have it. "If you don't have a good reason for coming in the window, I'll scream."
Her brows shot up, amused. "Well well, aren't we taking charge?" She inched closer, tail flicking back and forth to suit her teasing grin, "Since there's no fooling you... I came here to see what you've got, runt, and I plan on taking it with me. Plain and simple."
The kit was quiet for a moment, and Harlot half-expected him to start yelling. What she got, instead, was a big surprise.
"Take me to the pizza shop."
She frowned. "Uhh.... 'Scuse me?"
He puffed up, "I said 'pizza shop'. Are you deaf or what?" "And if I don't?" "I'm ratting you out. Take my deal, it's a lot easier then jail, Lady."
She laughed. Harlot wholeheartedly laughed, to the point she was wiping tears from her eyes. "I like your spunk kid. Alright fine, we can get pizza. Is that all, oh keeper of my fate?"
He seemed to be contemplating something, and Harlot watched with a raised brow. This kid was pretty smart, she'd have to watch herself if she ever tried to come back here...
"I want you to visit me."
Hold up, what? She blinked, her probing eyes picking up on the subtle hints in his voice, "What are you, hitting on me? I think the age gap is a little too-"
"HELL NO! I JUST WANT COMPANY!"
She was silenced in an instance.
"No one... ever... visits me...." He had a tough face, but the tears were just under the surface, and Harlot could tell. The way he scrunched up his nose to keep from crying was awful, but she didn't dare laugh. Not when he seemed so serious about it. It as then that she gave another look to their surroundings.
"You're an orphan, aren't you?"
By the way the kit froze up, eyes wide, she knew it before he'd even replied. Taking another look around at the scant decor, the shaggy blankets and heavily-worn plushies, she sighed, a paw to her temple.
"Alright, I got a deal for you. You gonna hear me out?"
"You have five minutes. Then I want pizza."
She sighed, "Zip it, Herman." In the silence that followed, she went on, "You don't rat me out and I'll... get you out of here, how's that sound?"
He glared, suspicious of her in an instant, "A-DUH, wasn't that the plan?"
With an eyeroll, Harlot walked over, cautious to him shouting, and patted him softly on the head, catching the little kit off guard and watching as he fluffed up defensively, quickly swatting her paw away in defiance.
"I MEAN I'll adopt you, moron. You know, the big escape, never coming back, excetera?"
He shrank back, pretending to be horrified, but even he couldn't hide the hope reflecting in his eyes. "Live with you? Ew! Like I'd ever volunteer for that!"
She wrinkled her nose and smirked, "Yeah, yeah, right... but first things first, I have some white base with your name on it..."
Harlot was trying to hide her grin, watching the little kit stomp around with makeup covering the entirety of his face. She had to admit, this kid knew how to get attention, and stomping around and complaining seemed to be his way of being excited. He'd not made one attempt to take it off in the 10 or so minutes he'd been wearing it, so she could only assume he didn't want to. "Are we finished now, sweetie? There's some papers I have to fill out downstairs. And by the looks of this room, everyone is still awake." He gave her a glare. Just as she'd wanted him to. He had stopped his ranting, and as Harlot walked by she gave his cheek a little pinch and a rough smack, just enough to make him rub his cheek and give her a dirty look before rushing ahead of her for the stairwell. And he lead the way down the steps without her opening her mouth, the spring in his step a little too obvious to miss, the murmurings of people looking his way making him showboat his new look.
...Now, how would she explain the fact she wasn't coming in the front door....

I seek a child of my own!
Owner of Parent: Mia Lavinia Parent's Name: Ophelia Capulet-Montague Parent's Image:Image -- Owner of Child: Mia Lavinia
Gift to Child: A wind-up music box and some home-baked cookies RP Response: Having grown in a large family, and in a house full of other residents aside from those sharing her name, Ophelia had never really been alone. Just a tad lonely at times, maybe, but never truly alone. She'd always had playmates, toys, food and the comfort of her parents. She knew she was fortunate. She knew there were many, kits and grown ups alike, who did not know the comfort of family - or even a home of their own. As soon as she'd realized that truth, it had been weighing in the back of her mind, putting a damper on everything she enjoyed. She wanted to help those who didn't have what she had. Even if it was just a little. Even just for a day.. but hopefully forever. Ophelia enjoyed babysitting the occasional kits that showed up in the house where she lived. She had strong maternal instincts from a young age. It always pained her a little when it was time to return the kits to their parents. She wished she had one of her own. A child to raise.. to be able to watch them grow, to share their happiness, their pain, their successes, their failures.. and to finally see them off when they were grown. The love of one's family, to her, seemed like the strongest kind of bond ever imaginable.
Now, the female had arrived at the orphanage, standing there for the first time in person. She had sent a few small gifts there beforehand, but today.. today was special. She wanted to give even one child a little bit of the warmth that she had been so fortunate to experience her entire life. She was clutching a small wrapped package against her chest, and while she fidgeted she suddenly realized - the gifts she had picked were more for a girl, than a boy.. what if the child she got along with best happened to be a boy? It was too late to turn around now, to go buy something else.. maybe some boys liked music boxes too? ..cookies would be okay at least, right? With a small sigh, Ophelia finally gathered herself enough to enter.
She was greeted by the matron. The lady looked kind, but weary.. Ophelia imagined how much work it must be, to look after so many children, even if it was only for a little while. "I-I believe I sent word of mine arrival", she finally spoke up. "I hath been eager to make the acquaintance of one of thy charges, for I understand thy resources are limited in providing for them in a prolonged fashion", she continued as politely as she could. Her family's way of speech was overly theatrical, but it was something she couldn't help. "Would it be permissible to mingle amongst the young ones, for a few spells? I hath ne'er set foot within these premises before, so I wish to establish a rapport with one of the children before we discuss possible arrangements of a more permanent sorts, ma'am."
The matron looked slightly baffled by Ophelia's mannerisms, but showed the young female to one of the playrooms. Countless kits scurried about, some playing with a miniature train set, some building a tower out of colorful wooden blocks.. it was clear that for the time being they were well cared for, but regardless they were all small and skinny, some moreso than others. The matron then returned to her duties, and Ophelia looked over the children, her eyes welling up. Oh, how she would've loved to take each and every one of them home with her. A few kits raised their heads from their activities to look at the strange woman who'd suddenly appeared, but most of them returned to what they were doing within moments. Ophelia wasn't sure how to approach these children. Should she just try to join in on their games? Observe? Try to strike up conversation? Suddenly, she felt someone lightly tugging on her tail. When she turned around, she saw a small, skinny child with long messy hair, dressed in a baggy shirt still clutching her tail. She couldn't even tell whether this child was a girl or a boy.
"Hey lady, are you here to play with me?" the child asked with glistening eyes. "Are you gonna take me home?" Ophelia's heart ached from how adorable this creature in front of her was. "Yes, I am here to 'play', shouldst thou so wish", she replied softly. "May I inquire thy name, little one?" The child just stared at her for a moment, and then burst into a bout of tinkling laughter. "You speak kinda strangely, lady. Are you foreign or maybe like royalty or something?" They then sneezed, and wiped their muzzle into their sleeve. Ophelia quickly offered a handkerchief to the child, concerned for the small being's health. "Art thou ill? And nay, all of mine family simply speak in this manner.." she told the child, blushing a little. "J-juss' a li'l cold.. I think.." the child mumbled, timidly taking the offered handkerchief. "And my name's Vinny.." Suddenly Vinny noticed the little package the female was still holding. "Hey, hey, what's that?" Vinny pointed at the package excitedly. "It smells nice! Can I see? Please, lady?" Ophelia then smiled, handing the gift to Vinny. Easily excitable as the child may have been, at least there was someone she could make happy today. She sat down with Vinny on some bean bag chairs scattered about in the corner, and the child quickly rustled open the wrapping, staring wide-eyed at the lacquered music box. Ophelia reached over and with a few swift motions wound it up. As the music began to play, the entire room suddenly grew silent, and all of the children stopped to listen.
Vinny was mesmerized. As the heart-wrenching melody continued, large tears began to roll down the child's cheeks like pearls. Suddenly Ophelia realized - sad songs were a terrible idea when these children already had enough pain in their lives! She quickly reached over to hold the sobbing, trembling Vinny, and she could hear quiet sniffles from other parts of the room as well. "I am so, so sorry!" Ophelia cried out. "Please, forgive me, it hath ne'er crossed my mind before that this was not a good choice for a gift.." she said quietly, swallowing back her own tears. Vinny raised his head, and a small paw slowly lifted up to wipe the side of the female's face. "It's a really pretty song, lady, but I think it makes us all think of the home and parents we don't have", the child said with a small smile, trying to sound reassuring, then picking up one of the cookies that had gone unnoticed, taking a bite. "This is delicious! Did you make these yourself? Hey, everyone, come take one! This lady baked us cookies!" And immediately the earlier atmosphere returned, and all of the children smiled at Ophelia as they each got one of the cookies Vinny was generously sharing. She spent what seemed like a small eternity with the child, talking about anything and everything between heaven and earth.
When it was finally time for her to take her leave, she tucked Vinny in and gave the child a small kiss on the forehead. Just as she had turned around, she felt a tug on her tail like before. "You'll come again, right, lady? I wanna see you again.." Vinny mumbled with half-closed eyes glistening in the dim light. Ophelia reassured the child before returning to the matron, scheduling a number of visits before finalizing the papers. Vinny had caught her heart, and she wanted to make sure the child grew up healthy and happy.

I seek a child of my own!
Owner of Parent: Lexi_Perplexi Parent's Name: Pattern Parent's Image:Image -- Owner of Child: Lexi_Perplexi
Gift to Child: Set (three) of silver bangles RP Response: Winter had been her favorite time of year but that was before the sudden loss of the male that she had given her heart to. It had taken her months to simply accept the fact that he was never coming back, and even longer to come to the decision that had her at the front of the orphanage. Pattern’s ears twitched as her long tail curled around her legs, the metal rings on it clinking, she was apprehensive now. Would they allow someone who was still grieving to adopt a kit? Would she be a good mother without a mate to help her raise it? What if she lost this little one too? All of these thoughts flung themselves around in her head until she clenched her jaw and forced her mind clear.
“You can do this.” The Raichu uttered the words under her breath as she pulled open the door and entered the building. It was rather warm inside, warm enough to make her wonder about pulling off her coat. She mulled that over in her head until a tug at her coat caused her to look down with a frown. She hadn’t expected to see a little kit there, hand on the hem of her coat and eyes staring up at her. “Well hello there, how are you?” She asked, smiling down at the little boy and getting a soft smile in return. “I’m okay, your tail is pretty…but how did you get those rings on there?” He asked, ears flicking as he waited for a response. Pattern looked down at her tail, and then at him, her tail swaying slightly as she spoke. “Well I was a little kit like you, I didn’t have a mom or dad, but someone found me wandering and took me in. He gave me these rings as my first birthday present."
“So are they proof that he loves you?” The kit asked, his own tail swishing as he reached forward and touched one of the rings gently. “I bet it’s nice to have someone showing their love.” He added, a slight frown showing on his tiny face. Pattern couldn’t help but want to reach down and hug the poor little boy, if she’d had any doubts that this would be good for her they were gone now. Finally she gave in to the urge to hug him, leaning down and wrapping her arms around him as she blinked back tears. “How would you like a set of rings for your first Christmas present? I came here looking for someone to bring home with me, and I think I’ve found you.” The little kit didn’t move or speak, caught off guard by the hug, but it didn’t take long for him to melt into it. “I’d like that, but I think we should know each other’s name first. Mine is Austin, what’s yours?”
“I’m Pattern, but you can call me mom.” She replied before letting him free of the hug, she smiled at him as she took his hand and went in search of someone to make the adoption complete.

I seek a child of my own!
Owner of Parent: xx Aps Parent's Name: Tanith Inela Parent's Image:Image -- Owner of Child: xx Aps
Gift to Child: A crystal necklace. RP Response:
It had been a rather terrible year for the Inelas. Tanith's mother had disappeared earlier that year, along with her brother. This had left Tanith's other mother in a rather desperate state, almost so lethargic that she had barely understood what was going on anymore. Despite this, however, Tanith had been fine. She was a strong woman and had held her ground, even when her mate and daughter disappeared. However, news had suddenly arose that her mate and daughter were now dead.
Tanith had now, in fact, decided that she had very little to care for in this world now. She had returned to her daredevil acts, climbing, surfing, spelunking.. anything to take her mind off of all the pain that this year had brought. Normally this might not alarm someone so much, except that Tanith was blind. Her own daughter, Tsunami, believed it was her mother's way of wanting the universe to take her along with her mate.
Sadly, Tanith's whole life had been wrapped up in her mate. They had known each other since bowlhood and had always been there for each other, always in love. So now that she was alone, her activities were less about her own health. However, this hadn't stopped her from caring. At times, Tsunami could still see her mother standing out in the rain just listening, wondering. It almost broke Tsunami's heart to see her mother like this.
So, despite disliking children herself, Tsunami decided to drag her mother to the orphanage. Maybe if she could get her mother to open up again to someone than she would wake up from the trance she had been in. And besides, it couldn't be that bad to have a sibling again since Anastasia would never come back.
"It won't be so bad, I swear." Tsunami nudged her mother toward the door, making sure that Tanith didn't bump into anything. "It'll be good to have some life in the house again." However, despite Tsunami's words, Tanith wasn't so sure.
Frowning, the blind fox let her daughter lead her along. "What if... What if they won't give a child to someone like me? Its not like this is a usual situation, Tsunami, I'm blind." She was hesitant, confused at her daughters insistence to another family member after so many of their family was gone now.
Tsunami put a paw to her hip, shaking her head, "You did a wonderful job raising me and Ana! If they can't see that then I'll have to shake some sense into them!" Suddenly Tsunami bumped into someone and she blinked, embarrassed. "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't see you there." She helped pick the little kit back up, a smile on her face. "I'm Tsunami and this is my mother, Tanith."
"Tsu.. Tsunami?" The little fox wrinkled its nose at the two of them. "Those are both strange names for foxes, don't you think?"
Tanith wished she could see the child. For a moment her heart fluttered, maybe Tsunami was right, maybe she could open her heart again. It had been so very long since there had been a child in her home. "Tanith was a Goddess of Love. My parents named me that because of the love that we all shared. A love that I would love to extend to any of the children here..." She lightly squeezed Tsunami's paw. She could still hope, couldn't she?

I seek a child of my own!
Owner of Parent: Sango Misaki Parent's Name: Shade Filoffle Jera Parent's Image:Image -- Owner of Child: Sango Misaki
Gift to Child: A rainbow apple wrapped inside of a homemade hat RP Response:"Lost... I should have never left home." Shade sighed as she looked around frightened as ever and sniffled a little. "Why did I go out in the first place?"
She really couldn't remember what had been so appealing about the outdoors in the first place. She wasn't even sure why she had thought she could finish the hat outside either when she had only brought it, her Plushie and one of her grandmother's strange fruit creations. She was such a skittish noodle and already one the verge of tears when she turned and recognized the building that stood in front of her.
She could no longer hold in her tears and she sat down abruptly in front of the gates to the orphanage and let the silent tears fall sniffling and holding onto her plush tightly. It had not been so long ago that she had been in that place and the memories of it still haunted her.
"What's your issue lady?" A small but gruff voice asked her and she looked up to see a small male kit staring at her with a confused expression, "Adults aren't suppose to cry like that ya know."
She dried her her eyes a little, "I-I'm sorry. My time in the orphanage wasn't such a good one, I got beat up a lot."
"I'm not surprised you're such a big baby." The kit humphed at her, puffing up his chest. "You need to toughen up, I can teach you."
She frowned lightly at the small kit behaving so toughly, Had this place damaged him the way it had her forcing him to grow tough? She looked him over, he was dirty and scraped up like he had been climbing and falling out of trees all day. And thought to herself for a bit before asking, "Do you know your way around this area? Maybe you could show me and then I could make it home and you could come with me?"
He gave her another puzzled expression, "You're going to adopt me because you need directions home?"
"I thought you were gonna teach me to be tough?" She asked as she handed him the hat she had been working on with the apple in it.
"That is the weirdest thing I've ever seen..." He said taking the hat then opening it and staring wide eyed at the apple inside, "There's no way that's real..."
Shade frowned, furrowing her brow. "Of course it is! Strait from Grandma's garden."
"So I can eat it?" He looked excited for the first time sense she had met him, even with the earlier proposition of Adoption.
"Yes, and there are plenty more at home." She said.
She stood and took a deep breath before stepping in the gate only to be half dragged in the gate up the stair and into the building by the kit who then shouted at the top of his lungs, "This lady wants to adopt me!"
She nodded lightly as a startled matron approached her asking about the adoption. So what if the boy only wanted to come home with her because of the fancy apple she thought to herself, she was going to make sure that he could have a proper childhood. Just like her mother had done for her and her grandmother had done for her mother. There's gonna be three of us now, Three generations of Adoptions.
Owner of Parent: Depawsit Parent's Name: Recette Lemongrass Parent's Image:Image -- Owner of Child: Depawsit
Gift to Child: A Cash register RP Response:
Here she was, once again. The same as she had been last year, and the year before. Standing before the orphanage cold and alone. Needing only the nerve to take that one step over the threshold. But it seemed this year would not be unlike the others. No - it would hold the exact same fate. A day filled with errand running, home cleaning, and shop cleaning; all in preparation for the little one she planned to bring home. But she had once again let her nerves get the better of her.
Recette sighed to herself, shivering as the chill in the air formed her breath into wisps of smoke. Yep, just another year filled with regret and loneliness. It was a good thing she was raised that way, otherwise the transition might have been rough. She wanted to turn and leave, take her eyes away from the happy futures being formed before her eyes. But something had her rooted in place, in the far corner of the orphanage yard, there was a small kit. He seemed oddly out of place, random with random knick knacks hanging from his tattered clothes. Weren't orphans supposed to be penniless?
Intrigued Recette stepped forward, overcome with curiosity for this oddball little kit. Upon closer inspection she realized she was right about him. There was something a little .... off? While all the other kits were inside looking about for the perfect place to call home, he was out here. Huddled up against the cold with a large pile of items circled around him.
"Whatcha got there?" She mused, trying her best not to startle the young kit.
But her words had just that affect, and the small kit jumped to alert, frantically scooping his items into a ball at his feet.
"I'm not doing anything wrong, I found them in the trash! They aren't stolen!"
Suspiciously, Recette eyed the kit with interest. He sure was keen on her understanding they weren't stolen ... was he trying to trick her? A quick glance told her probably not. The items he held so close were tattered and worn. Nothing that anyone would care enough about to keep.
"Is that so huh? Do you mind if I take a look?"
A step closer and she was towering over him, her paws delicately turning his prized possessions around and around.
"Please don't tell the caretaker ... they told me I had to stop collecting stuff .. I don't wanna get in trouble." The poor kit's ears drooped as he admitted to his wrong doing. "I just really like to collect things, I used to trade them for food, but I can't do that anymore.."
Recette's ears perked at the mention of barter, not only was this kit absolutely adorable but he was a barter on top of that. In her heart, she knew the deal was sealed, but was it in the kit's heart as well?
"Well ... I know this great place where you could collect and trade to your hearts content.
You see I own a little shop not too far from here. Would you be interested in coming with me and helping me run it?"
Before Recette even had time to react to her own question, the kit was staring at her, mouth agape and eyes wide with awe.
"I'll take that as a yes!" She giggled, tugging a small chain from around her neck. On it was a small cash register charm. "Here, hold onto this as a promise, once we get you home i'll make your very first official trade: That necklace - for a real cash register all your own."
Smiling from ear to ear, Recette scooped the kit up and placed him on her back gently. Now the only thing left to do was file the paperwork.

I seek a child of my own! Owner of Parent: mewmew kittykat94 Parent's Name: Twix Parent's Image:Image -- Owner of Child: mewmew kittykat94
Gift to Child: A poorly wrapped white horse plush RP Response:
"Hey, kid! Don't do that!" Eyes widening, Twix nearly couldn't watch at the kit racing across the street without a care. Just.. how could she..... Se were going to get herself killed! Thoughts racing, he took after the kit, nails clacking against the pavement.
This hadn't been the first time he had seen the kit. He knew there were those who had nowhere to go but the streets, he could never have imagined going through their every day life.. but he had to admit, there was one little booger that seemed to catch his attention every time.
Twix had often taken walks to the town, and nearly every time he had seen a little girl with scruffy fur with an infectious grin and there was a few times he had spoken to her... not much was said before she returned to the orphanage, even with the constant jokings of him being a knight, but she had left an impression.
An impression on the road is what she was going to be if she wasn't careful though! Watching a tail zip into the building, he shook his head, letting out a small puff of air. "Okay, Twix. No more Snicker bars if the kid's outrunning you...." Stepping into the orphanage, he glanced around, shifting his weight slightly as he kept a small package behind his back. The kid wasn't around but there was someone at the front desk. Definately out of his element before he stepped up, he slowly made his way up. "Umm... Hello... I was looking for a kit that I saw come in here..." That didn't sound strange at all, not a bit.
"Sadly, there's quite a few kits in here, sir, I suppose you were looking for a specific one?" The female said with a smile.
"Yeah, sorry... they were about yay big, a bit scruffy looking, but with a strange little smile that sticks with ya...That probably doesn't help much at all..." Lifting a paw, he scratched at his head, "But I'd like to see if I could adopt them..."
"Oh no, I think I know exactly who you mean...Follow me." she said as she went behind the counter and lead him to a fluffball sitting on their bed.She quickly nodded and walked off to the side, keeping an eye on the two. Sitting himself beside the kit, Twix smirked down to her, keeping the crumpled mess that was supposed to be wrapping paper out of sight. "Hey kid."
"Hi Twi-......" She paused, wide eyes turning suspicious as the young one wrapped their tail around their feet. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, seeing as I almost saw you get squished on the road, and thought of making sure that you were okay..."
"Oh... so that was you I heard..." Sighing, she shifted away "Don't worry about it, I was fine."
"Next time you might not be so lucky, so yeah, I'm going to worry." Shifting after, he leaned down, trying to catch her eye. "But that's not why I'm here..... I had a question for you."
"What?" Blinking to him, she canted her head, suspicion being overtaken by the curiosity of what he might say. Hope was a luxury for her, but she couldn't help but keep her eyes trained on him, a sliver of hope still sneaking through.
Reaching beside him with a soft smile, he brought the gift into view, what looked like a gift, though it couldn't be completely seen past the tape and sloppy ribbon. "Want to live with me? Only stipulation is that you can't run across the road anymore"
Grabbing up the present gingerly, she quickly took a swipe at her eyes before looking back to him "Twix.....You're serious?"
"Hundred percent, now open it up before you agree. If my poor wrapping skills haven't scared you off, my taste in presents might instead," he said with a grin.
With a shake of her head, she pulled at the ribbon and tape, struggling against it before an old white horse popped out of the paper. Pausing only for a moment, she quickly wrapped her arms around Twix, horse tightly clutched in her paw "You really are a knight in shining armor... and... I, uh.... promise not to run across the street anymore."
Wrapping his arms around her, he smiled to her and looked to the woman at the door, "Told you so.... Now let's go see about those adoption papers..."
Onyx, it wasn't a lie that she was a collector of rare things. She lived the majority of her life searching the world over for treasures and trinkets of deep value. It was what pirate thieves did. Though a much more pleasant term would be a tomb raider. As such, she did have a lot to offer anyone but it was hard, hard to trust.
Animals were sacred to her and her blood line and while the phoenix was her totem and not a fox, the fire in her spirit felt that this was the right decision. She had no "children" of her own. How it was that Onyx heard of this very magical wonder shall remain left unknown. A merchant friend of a merchant friend perhaps. Onyx had traveled a great distance to see this spectacle.
Arriving at the Orphanage, the place where these lovely foxes sprung from noodles, she looked around curiously. She was dressed in a modernized kimono with beautiful Crane motifs embroidered upon it. In her hand was a white plushie of a fox. Yellow topaz eye's, molten pools of Gold caught sight of other Noodles meeting their would be parents, all in hopes of finding their forever home. Onyx was to meet with a councilor to discuss a possible adoption. Many questions were asked. Things about preference but Onyx had none. When asked the final question: "And why is it you wish to adopt a noodle today?"
Her response with thus: "Ma'am I am a woman who has a great respect for all things that grown. I have a fondness for animals and while I currently own no other companions, it only stands to ensure that all my love will be his or hers. With me my noodle will experience life as it is meant to be experienced. Liberally and free. Nothing is more lovely than the sound of the morning gulls, softly calling to the ebbing tides that lazily wash ashore. Nothing is more refined than that salty sea breeze and nothing Ma'am, could be more beautiful than the rising sun off the water that sparkles like a sea full of diamonds. That is the life I give to my companion should I be accepted for adoption. I leave that fate in your hands"

Gift to Child: A book of sheet music RP Response: Gale sat hunched over in the most abandoned part of the building he could find, head hung with shame. What the heck was he doing here?
That morning he’d been practicing musical instruments with his father. It was ironic, humorously so, that he had an amazing singing voice yet was too shy to sing in front of others, and absolutely no talent with instruments yet didn’t mind playing for an audience willing to listen. Well, humorous to just about everyone but him. Once the lesson had ended his mom had come in and asked for his help with some charity work, then just whisked him away without explaining what it was she wanted him to do.
“Help” was giving a live performance at the local orphanage to give the kids a music day for fun…
Needless to say, he’d frozen the instant he got out on the stage. All he could do was stare in a kind of horrified daze at all the eyes trained expectantly on him and pray for the floor to swallow him up right then and there. What was his mom thinking, doing something like this to him?! The people who ran the orphanage stepped forward and said something; probably some kind of introduction, but he wasn't able to understand a word of it through his panic. Then his mom had launched into song, casting him expectant glances throughout the whole thing, but he sat pinned in a horrible kind of paralysis.
It was a nightmare, and he wanted to wake up now please!
As soon as his mom finished the song Gale suddenly remembered how to make his legs work again and pelted off the stage and away from all those staring eyes. As soon as he deemed himself “far enough away” he went to the first corner he could find and sat there, trembling and trying to calm his racing heart and shattered nerves. He didn’t think he was ever going t-
A hauntingly sweet sound reached his ears, distracting him and pulling his attention away from his misery. What was that? Gale uncurled from his hunched position and looked around, listening. He stood up and began to track the sound, wandering here and there, until he found himself outside in the chilly air of the dormant garden. He looked around for the sound again, then finally spotted the source. A young kit sat tucked away in some old bushes, visible due only to the lack of proper foliage. He was playing a wooden flute, the gentle melody threading through the air. Gale crept closer, entranced by the music.
”That was beautiful,” he said softly when the kit reached the end of his song. He squeaked and jumped, whirling around. For a moment the two stared at each other.
”Wasn’t anything special,” the kit finally said, staring at the ground and scuffing his paw against the dirt. ”Everybody says my song is boring.” Gale blinked in surprise to hear that anyone could call music as lovely as that boring!
”Can you play another song for me,” he asked, wanting to hear more. The kit shook his head.
”’S the only song I know. That’s why everyone says it’s boring,” he muttered, still looking at the ground and scuffing it with his paw but now also blushing a little as though he was ashamed. His little shoulders were hunched, the exact same way Gale’s did when he had to turn down a request to sing when he really wanted too, but was too shy. It didn't seem like shyness was this kit's problem, just a lack of material to perform with.
An idea popped into Gale's head. ”Wait right here a moment,” he said, then suddenly stood and ran for home as fast as his paws could carry him. He dashed through the front door and dove into his room, searching among his belongings until he came up with what he was looking for, then dashed back to the orphanage while trying not to drop the precious object. The kit had wiggled out of his hiding place and was craning his neck curiously; he started at Gale’s sudden appearance. Gale slowed and tried to catch his breath as he walked up to the kit. Very carefully he laid down a book filled with scores of sheet music for flutes.
”You can have this,” he said quietly. A blush colored his cheeks. ”I’m not very good at playing anyway, and you can use these to learn new songs to play for others.” The kit looked from the book to Gale’s face, eyes wide like he thought this was some kind of trick. When Gale just sat there and it became obvious the gift was sincere, the kit’s face crumpled like he wanted to cry. He stepped forward and buried his face in the soft fur of Gale’s legs, body trembling. Oddly enough, the normally shy Noodle didn’t mind at all.
A soft murmur caught his attention. ”What was that? I didn’t quite catch it,” he asked. The kit raised his face and tried again.
”Don’t know how to read music,” he mumbled, sniffing and looking down. Gale felt his heart contract in sympathy and a wave of protectiveness washed over him.
”What’s your name,” he inquired.
”I’m Sho.
”Well Sho, would you like me to teach you how to read the music.” Gale’s throat caught a little. What if the kit refused his offer?
”Really! You’d really teach me?” Gale was caught by surprised as the kit hugged his legs with surprising force for such a tiny body. A strong surge of warmth shot through him and that gentle protectiveness surfaced again. The two spent well over an hour together huddled together in the garden. Sho learned quickly and soon was piping a new song on his flute, stumbling over the strange notes at first but gradually improving as he went, and when he started the song over again to play it perfectly Gale sang along with him.
As the last notes of song trembled on the air, sudden applause made both males jump and spin around. Unbeknownst to them, lost in the spell of music, they’d acquired an audience. Gale caught sight of his mom’s smiling face over all the heads of the youngsters and blushed. He glanced over at Sho, who was beaming and bowing, lapping up all the attention. An unconscious smile crossed Gale’s face.
Later that night, back at home, Gale found himself unable to sleep. He tossed and turned, remembering the sad look Sho had given him when he and his mom had left, fretting over how the kit was doing now and whether he was happy. Finally he gave up on trying to sleep and sat in his room brooding for the longest time. It had been so…so effortless to be around the kit, like his shyness had just vanished! And the way he’d been able to sing without prompting, to lose himself in the music that Sho played! Those things had never happened to him before, not even with his own family. He should probably be scared at how fast and deep the bond he’d developed with the young musician was, but all he felt was a glowing warmth deep in his chest and a strong desire to make the kit smile…

The woman on duty at the orphanage looked surprised to see a young male walking through the doors at this time of night. ”Can I help you,” she asked. Gale plucked up every ounce of courage he had.
“I’m here to adopt Sho.”

Gift to Child: A flute RP Response:
On a rather cold, chilly, wintery day- SeeU and Kaito had decided to spend sometime together. The cold nipped at their toes and nibbled their noses. But for now, they had not a care in the world. Their first stop was a park. Then a bakery. And now they were just wondering around, thinking of something else to do.
SeeU's attention turned to a place that seemed rather homy. The orphanage. She shyly tugged on Kaito's sleeve, pointing to the orphanage. "Kaito... Can we check that place out, perhaps?" It had caught her interest despite her not knowing what exactly was in there. Other than her walks with Kaito, she hadn't much opportunity to look around town.
Blue eyes turned towards where the tiny-framed female had pointed. A warm smile spread across his face. No harm in exploring the unknown, right? "Ah, yes. It seems like cozy place." He nodded and took her paw that was pointing, placing a small kiss on it before walking over to the door and holding it open for SeeU.
As they entered, the yip and yaps of kits excitement could be heard. 'Lookit, new adults~' 'Yay, maybe they're here to adopt?' 'Oo, oo, meeee! Take me home!' Three little energetic kits ran up to them, little tails wagging. SeeU and Kaito found themselves only able to stare. what, exactly, have they just walked into?
The caretaker of the Orphanage walked up, scooting the kits away easily. "Please do excuse them they... Tend to get excited when other adults come in." She gave a warm smile, offering a paw. "Pleasure to meet you both, I am Miss Anita. Are you hear to maybe adopt?"
For a moment, Kaito and SeeU could only stare with saddened looks. This hadn't been exactly what they had been expecting, could they really have a child come into their family? Noting each other's expressions, slowly, they both began to smile at each other. Reaching out, Kaito took Miss Anita's paw, offering her a smile of his. "Kaito is my name, and SeeU is mate~" He replied with his broken English.
SeeU shyly took her paw after Kaito had let go. "It is a pleasure meeting you, Miss Anita. And yes... We would love to adopt." Glancing over Miss Anita's shoulder, she could still see some faces peaking from the door frame, staring at them. She couldn't help but offer them a small smile, she wasn't sure what else she could do without alerting Miss Anita of their lurking and she glanced back to Kaito, excitement nearly radiating off of her for this.
Smiling to his mate, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small package."I was going to give this to you, SeeU... But I will have to find a different gift later. This will be for our orphan~"
With a small laugh, she wrapped her arms around him, tail wagging. "Oh Kaito, you don't need to buy me a gift. Being able to make a child's Christmas brighter with you is all the present I need." Turning her attention back to Miss Anita, she softly smiled. What a turn of events this seemed to be. "What do we need to do to adopt?"

Gift to Child: A plate of cookies. RP Response:Hilaria intake a small amount of air and simple let it out. She was going to take on a big responsibility if she stepped into this door and she had to be full prepared for this.
She wanted this. She had lost her first love and had seen so many of her siblings gain theirs and children, which greatly depressed her. She would have never thought that she would be one of the last of her siblings to have kids and to adopt one didn't even pass her mind until a few weeks ago when she heard about. Though she had only heard about just a little while ago she was ready and had been ready for a long time. She needed someone to care for. She needed someone who loved her for her and she thought a child would be the best thing.
The only thing that really worried her was her appearance. She was covered in blood and most of the time you could see right through her. What if the children would be scared away from this? She shuddered just thinking about. She just hoped that one just one would give her the time and day and maybe she would be leaving here as a mother. She let out of some of air and stepped into the room where all the children were.
The looked, all of them looked. They knew what was about to happen. Someone was going to be adopted, which was all the kids wanted. But this time, their faces were happy, but surprise or even grossed out. Her heart fell and tears slowly fell down her face. She knew it. She knew that the children were going to hate her because she was a zombie. She covered her face and quickly turned around and was about to run out of the place until she felt a small tug on her skit. She gasped and quickly turned around to see a little boy smiling widely at her. She looked at him and froze.
He wasn’t running away from her in terror, he was doing the opposite. He had come to her. Something that made Hilaria cocked her head lightly. She gave him a small smile and moved down to his level and gently nuzzled his head with his paw. “Why were you crying?” the boy ask her. She moved back, unsure what to say and smiled down to him once again. “Because I thought all the children didn’t like me because I am a zombie.” She answered back to him.
The little boy smiled and shook his head. “I’m not scared. I saw in your eyes that you cam here with a loving heart, so how could I be scare of you?” he stated with a bright smile on his face. The boy was dirty and look liked he hadn’t ate a good meal in a couple of days. The zombie female smiled and began to talk once more. “Would you like to come home with me? I could make you cookies and I could should you how much love I’m willing to give to you.”
The little boy nodded and the two walked back down and on that day the Zombie female was not scare anymore if children were afraid of her because she knew that her eyes spoke for her even if her appearance couldn’t.

Gift to Child: A Water Gun RP Response:
The day had dawned a chilly one, the first touches of winter gripping the morning air. The sky was grey, and clouds hung low threatening to drop massive amounts of snow at any given moment. It was on this curious day in december, that Plague found herself alone. Completely so, in that she didn’t have Catch or Rabies around, normally at least one of them was about with her but not this day. It didn’t bother her terribly but at the same time it was a bit annoying, boring more the case.
She had awoken in Catch’s bed, having spent the night, alone and a touch chilly. It wasn’t that she didn’t know he was going to be gone so much as she didn’t enjoy being chilly and waking up alone. It had set her in rather dim spirits, she hated being bored, loathed it even.
Her morning had started off slow with her spending the better part of it curled up in bed, tucked around Catch’s pillow. It was around midday when she finally managed to drag herself out of bed and into the shower to warm up. Shower completed, she found herself wandering around the house in a towel for the better part of an hour before finally getting hungry and in truth lonely enough to venture out into the world. Armed with a scarf, gloves, boots, and Catch’s hoodie as protection, not including her normal everyday clothes, she set out into the blustery streets to find something to eat and some source of entertainment.
Much to her dismay she found that not only was her favorite little cafe closed for the day but the streets were practically empty of all life. It left her sullen and in a sulky mood, causing her to wander around in the chill for quite some time. She was just about to give up and head back home when the sound of a firecracker went off behind her making her jump into the air and whirl around. She for a moment almost thought it was Catch and was about to give him a piece of her mind when instead she noticed a kid.
The little girl couldn’t be more than twelve and she was armed with firecrackers. She had a devilish look on her face, one Plague had seen many a time before and it was that look that had Plague tilting her head to the side in amusement. The kid was a little grimy, clearly having ruffed it for a bit, a day or so maybe, but her clothes were fairly clean though they looked a little warn.
“Oh kid, what on earth do you think you are doing?” She asked putting a hand on her hip as she cocked it out to the side. If only she had remembered to bring her water gun with, she would have shown this squirt. She noticed the kid looked about ready to run but before the girl even had a chance she was being lifted up and placed over Plague’s shoulder.
“HEY! Put me down lady!” Came the rather screeched reply which Plague ignored.
“Nope, don’t think I will.” She gave no other explanation as she toted the little girl all the way back to Catch’s house. Once home she plopped the little kid down on the couch before looking her over. She looked a bit like a thrown away puppy and Plague couldn’t just leave her like that.
“So kid, what are you doing out in the streets scaring people?” She asked as she stepped to the kitchen to finally grab herself and the kid something to eat. Thrown away puppies just weren’t right, or at least that’s how Plague felt over the whole ordeal.
“It’s amusing.” The kid called, staying planted on the couch, the warmth of the house being a welcomed change from the chill of outside. “Besides, it’s not like anyone cares anyway. I bet the stupid orphanage doesn’t even know I am missing.” She called out crossing her arms and looking off to the side.
“Woah now...” Plague called stepping back placing a plate of sandwiches between them as she plopped out on the couch beside the girl. “You are an orphan?” The question was a rather obvious one, and still Plague felt the need to ask it.
“Well duh.” The kid stated, clearly finding Plague’s intelligence lacking in some aspects. “Hence the orphanage.” The little girl stated looking at the sandwiches before finally plucking one up and nibbling on it.
“So why did you run away?” The question was a simple one.
“Because I hate it there. I never want to go back, the kids are stupid and there are too many rules.” She huffed crossing her arms for a moment before she realized it meant she couldn’t get at her sandwich.
“Well... I see.” Plague stated a bit lost for words. “How about you stay here, with me... and Catch when he gets home. I’m sure he won’t mind.” Plague stated waving a hand. It would be several hours yet before Catch got home anyway and she was sure she would have plenty of time to stop him at the door and explain.
“You would really let me stay here?” She asked causing Plague to shrug.
“Sure why not, you can go back and forth with me. I don’t live here per-say but I am over an awful lot.” Plague stated shrugging her shoulders as she stood up waltzing towards the TV. “You game?” She asked rifling through Catch’s insane amount of just... crap for his entertainment purposes.
“O-ok.” The kid stated not about to turn down a place to stay, it was getting colder and colder at night. She thought this woman might be crazy but it was better than sleeping in a church or something. “I’ve... never tried.” The girl admitted honestly looking a little sheepish.
“Well, let’s fix that. We have a few hours till Catch gets home anyway.” She said sliding in a game before waltzing back over to plop down beside the girl and hand her a controller. Catch would probably be a touch... upset... at the sudden intrusion but Plague was sure he would see it her way in the end. How could he not want to keep the thrown away puppy? It had no home!
It had been a long day for Catch, and he was so ready to head home and curl up with his snuggly little miss kitty. It was nice having someone at home that enjoyed a good cuddle. He had managed to get off work early just to stop at the store to pick up something for dinner that wasn’t in a box, some flowers for Plague because he was feeling exceptionally sappy, and an early Christmas present that he couldn’t wait to give her.
As he made his way up the flights of stairs to his apartment door, bounding up them more like it in his excitement to see his girl, his brows furrowed together as he could hear her, but someone else, along with the sounds of gaming. “That little brat... “ he thought with a smirk, thinking that his daughter was home and actually playing a game too. He turned the knob and pushed the door in, all smiles to see his girls “And here all this time I thought that....” The sight of Plague was a happy one, one that he had been waiting for all day, but he saw a little pipsqueak on the couch beside her, and that was not okay.
He dropped everything by the doorway and shut it quickly, giving that half-assed, ‘hi, what are you doing here?!’ smile to the kid as he walked by, whisking his darling little kitty aside. His face turned to instant anger and concern as soon as they were near the kitchen entrance, hoping they were out of earshot for the most part. “Plague! What the?!... Where in the world did that little... little.... squirt come from?!” One couldn’t quite tell if he was more panicked, mad or what!, but it was obvious he was far from the happy guy he was when he climbed those stairs.
Plague had been all smiles when she noticed Catch enter the room and it was when she saw that look that her ears fell back slightly and she looked to the side. She placed a hand on the girl’s shoulder whispering something before being drug off toward the kitchen. Once in the doorway she pulled him further into the kitchen stepping from foot to foot. “Oh hey sweetie.” She commented leaning over to hug him around the waist. “How was work?” She asked with a small smile as she tried desperately to calm him down from his agitated state of being.
Once she was clear that this wasn’t going to work she leaned back to look out into the living room making sure the little girl was still playing games before looking back at Catch. “Well... you see... thats a funny story really. She came from outside, ummm alone. See I was out walking this morning cause I was lonely and it was... well boring and dull. You were at work and I didn’t have anyone else so yeah. She sorta popped out of nowhere really, scared me half to death.” She rambled for a moment before shaking her hands slightly. “Then well... I just sorta brought her home.” She said with a bright smile. “She has no family or anything, ran away from her orphanage... she is all alone and it’s cold out... and awww Catch I can’t let her go back out there. She is cold and hungry and... all alone. A little abandoned puppy... can we keep her... please?” She pleaded with him looking up with big puppy dog eyes.
Oh how he was irked by her as she tried calming him down. Yes, he knew freaking out wouldn’t help anything or anyone, but there was a freakin’ little strange kid in his house! Had this been a different situation, one that a strange kid wasn’t in his house, he’d love her arms wrapped around him, but not like this. Not right now. “Ohhohohoh... Don’t you ‘Oh hey sweetie’ me, Plague!” He shot her a most angry look, growling, but not loud enough for the kid to hear. Though, the harder he tried staying mad, the harder it was to stay mad. Damn she was good at this.
He let her ramble on and on after her failed attempts to calm him, knowing he’d never hear the end of it if he didn’t at least give her the chance to say something. At first he didn’t even want to hear what she had to say, but even he had to admit that the parentless part in him wrenched at the thought of that little dirty thing not having anyone... well aside from the orphanage. But oh... that ‘puppy’ part got to him. he grabbed her upper arms, pulling her back in the kitchen further, peering over her at the kid, then back to her, his expression most serious. “Plague... c’mon baby. She’s a little kid, not some puppy. You can’t just grab her up off the street, feed her, and call it good. She’s a kid! You remember everything that your family had to do to take care of you when you were that little right? Plus, even if she did run away, you can’t judge where she came from just on what she said... Think about things for a minute here. It’s a life changing thing... not just getting a new pet”
Flustered, grumpy, but mostly upset because he had to be more realistic over the little squirt sitting on his couch. “Orphanages... Good or bad, will be looking for her. We need to take her back...” though the moment he said those words, he nearly regretted them. “C’mon, baby... We really should take her back...” The expression on his face was sad, regretful, but he didn’t really know what else they could do.
The moment he said those words she flinched. She didn’t want to take her back, how could they? She didn’t want to be there and Plague could understand that. Not wanting to be somewhere, how could Catch want to drop the poor baby back off there? She took a few steps back from him shaking her head. “No, Catch, I don’t really remember what they had to do to take care of me. I was a kid at the time, one that could vanish at will and drop acid on things. With an uncle that made guns and an aunt that was an assassin. Another aunt that hunted monsters several times her size for a living, grandparents that were decidedly strange, and parents that didn’t make much sense at the time. I was a bit of a special case!” She snapped at him, not really meaning too it just coming out as such.
“I can’t take her back Catch. She doesn’t want to go and I won’t be a part of it. She needs someone!” She stated with a pout at Catch. “I wanna keep her, she needs me, I just know it.” She said wrapping her arms around herself. “Can she at least stay the night? You can take her back tomorrow... but I will have no part in it.” She stated looking at him before turning and walking out of the kitchen. She would just... kidnap the puppy back once Catch had dropped her off. It wasn’t like Plague didn’t have a home she could go too, and keep her hidden there. It would be simple to steal her away into the night, especially if she asked Auntie Glaive for help. Catch could drop her off, and Plague would pluck her back up and Catch would be none the wiser. It would all work out in the end, but damned if she didn’t feel guilty for lying to him. She was also honestly a bit hurt that he seemed to not want anything to do with her new little puppy.
He sighed, groaning and turning about, frustrated beyond anything and scrubbing his hands over his face. UGH! Why couldn’t she see that this was so much more than just claiming some new little pet?! They both had crazy as hell childhoods for many reasons, but that was all the more reason to put more thought into something like this!... right? He stood there, back turned to her and hands scrubbing his face, groaning.
He let her say her piece, get it all out, listening to what she had to say. It was painful, really. Having a kid right there that needed someone, but just the fact that she kept calling her a puppy, well, she wasn’t a pet! He gave her a most pathetic look, rolling his head back then , looked to her again. “Fine. She can stay the night, but only if you go back with me. I know you don’t want to, but that’s the only way she can stay the night.”
He did not like this. Did not like the feeling of scolding his girlfriend like a dad would his daughter, but... puppy?! Sighing, still so flustered, he shoved his fingers back through his hair before slumping some. “I mean... I get that you want to make sure she has someone to care for her, but... she’s not some pet.” He took a chance, reaching out and resting his hands on her shoulders, smiling, his turn to try and lighten the mood. “I brought home some not craptastic food. What’s her name? Maybe she’d like some, too?” His smile was a sad smile, this situation affecting him more than he could have thought.
She looked at him pitifully for a moment before sighing and looking away. “Fine... I will go with you, but I will not be happy about it. Not at all happy about it.” She stated crossing her arms. That did make it a bit more difficult but still something she could pull off. She couldn’t wrap her mind around why Catch couldn’t understand her want to keep the kid. It wasn’t like they were alone, like they didn’t have her family to help. She gave a soft sigh looking up at him for a long moment. She would have to talk to him about it later, was it because he had his little girl? Could it be because of that he had no love for another? She realized that yeah it was a kid, yeah that didn’t make much sense, but her family had adopted before in a sense so why couldn’t she do it?
She shook her head, looking off to the side for a long moment. Would she be willing to risk what she had with Catch to give this little girl what she wanted and needed? She sighed lifting a hand to place it over Catch’s for a moment before shrugging. “Alright, I will go with you tomorrow.” She said the sound of defeat in her voice apparent. “Food sounds nice, we had sandwiches earlier but um... yeah food’s good. I’m sure she would love some. She seems to be hungry a lot. Her name is Ellie by the way.” Plague stated softly turning to look out into the living room at the girl.
“Hey Ellie, tootsie pop, you hungry?” She called her voice taking on a lighter note because she refused to bring down the kid.
“Yeah!” Came the enthusiastic reply from the living area.
“Kay, Catch and I are gonna cook. Then it’s shower time for you little missy and then bed.” She called out again before looking back at Catch. “We need to talk later.” She said softly patting his hand.
The next few hours were spent in relative happy, until Plague had settled Ellie down to sleep, tucking her in before returning to Catch. A question weighing very heavily on her heart, one she didn’t really want to ask but needed the answer to.
“So... why won’t you let me keep Ellie? Is it because you already have a daughter? You can’t love another? I mean I’m not asking you to take Ellie on as your daughter, I’m not. It’s just something that struck me... Ellie can be mine like Arisa is yours. She doesn’t even have to stay here.. I just... why don’t you want me to keep her?”
Even though he couldn’t admit it to Plague that he was actually enjoying the little one’s company, that still didn’t change what had to happen the next day. When she came back out, he tried giving her a small smile, but it was there, then gone fast as she got down to business. Her questions honestly floored him. “Wait... what? What kind of question.... Plague! No! No, no, no. It has nothing to do with Arisa, what’s mine, what’s yours... You keep talking about her like she’s some little pet. Why would you even... C’mon. It’s nothing against the kid, or you... well... like I said, you keep talking about her like she’s a pet, but...”
He stood there, frustrated again, reaching back and rubbing the back of his neck, before just sighing. “Why are you so set on her? On ‘keeping’ her? Kids are so much more than just hugs, kisses, food, play, and bed time... You said you don’t even remember what it was like for your family to take care of you, How are you even going to do this yourself?... as you so seem to insist on” He knew what it took to be a parent... a single one at that, and it was hard, not that he regretted anything.
Plague was stunned for a moment just watching him with confused eyes, referring to her as a pet? What was he going on about? How was she referring to her as a pet and of course she wanted to keep here, what other word was there for it? She just shook her head before sighing and then pinning him with that look she had. Her multicolored gaze which was normally so light shining with a darker heavier tone. “What do you mean I keep referring to her like she is a pet?” She asked her voice sharp and demanding for a moment.
“Why am I so set on keeping her? Catch you aren’t really asking me that right? She is a pup, a kid, a baby alone in the world and she reached out to me for help. What exactly would you have me do? Leave her? Abandon her?” She snapped her eyes sharp as was her tone. “No I don’t remember but going by my childhood is hardly fair. Hello, cheshire, dragon, demon, stuffed animal, alien princess thing. Last I checked Ellie couldn’t vanish at will, or drop acid on things. Nor can she open a door to a different dimension, or make other’s body parts vanish.” She shook her head. “You think I am going to do this alone?” She asked blinking at him. “I said without you if that is what you wanted, that I wasn’t making you do this.” She stated point blank pointing at him in the process. “I have a family, one that has reared plenty of thrown away kids, I’m not alone in this. I have an uncle, grandparents, two aunts, a mom, a dad, and a sister to help me raise the pup so I’m not sure where you get this ‘alone’ deal. In my family we don’t just abandon kids that need us.” She said it firmly crossing her arms.
UGH! Everything this woman was saying was just making him feel like crap. It’s not like he wanted the little thing to be without a family, but why did she have to be so insistent on it be her and her family?! Granted, he knew what it was like to have no parents to care for him. It was so rough. That made him feel so bad for the little thing, but yet she wasn’t seeing that she couldn’t just take her the way she wanted. “Okay, fine. I get it... you and your crazy family would take care of her! But you know you just can’t take her like that! There’s a process to all this crap! Dammit, Plague. Your family may function on craziness and disorder, but that’s NOT how the rest of the world works!”
“There is so much more to all of this, than just getting a kid. She was from an orphanage! They watch over and take care of the kids. You don’t think they haven’t noticed she’s been gone all day?! There’s prolly missing child reports filed and everything by now! You would get in so much damn trouble if they saw her with you. She has to go back one way or another!”
This was it... this was turning into something that would destroy his first bit of happiness he’s had in a good, long while. They may not have been together long, but damn, he was crazy about Plague, and now this little kid was coming between them... or their sights on how to handle the situation. He scrubbed his hands over his face again, sighing and letting his arms slump down at his sides. “Plague... c’mon baby... Do you honestly think you’re ready for a kid and everything they come with? Your family may love her, but she’d be your responsibility...”
He didn’t like the thought of her doing this on her own. It was hard. And he didn’t like all this ‘you’, ‘me’, ‘alone’ stuff, but really... they had only been together such a short time... would she even think about staying with him and raising a kid? They’ve had a bunch of fun, gotten in a good amount of trouble themselves, and also had some pretty serious moments together... He knew he was absolutely head over heels for her, even more so than his ex -- there was no doubt in that -- but... “Baby...” he said with a soft sigh, stepping toward her and reaching his hand out to stroke her cheek. “Let’s get some sleep.. Tomorrow is gonna be a rough day...”
Plague was hurt and she wasn’t sure what to say or how to get him to understand. At the touch on her arm she pulled back. “That was insensitive and rude.” She stated snappily at him. “Yeah I get it, my family is crazy. That’s great, wonderful even. Fine, my family doesn’t work the same way the rest of the world does. That doesn’t mean for one second that we aren’t capable of adapting to social norms and that we couldn’t return to the orphanage and adopt her.” Her words were harsh and bit out in agitation. She cared for Catch so much, so very much, and this was honestly the first fight she had ever had with him. It was trying and she wasn’t sure what to say to him about how much he was hurting her.
“Well obviously the orphanage isn’t that great since she manage to escape from it, and it’s been several days since she has been there and they still haven’t found her. Clearly that place is so adept at what they do.” She gave a soft grumble before holding up her hands. “Fine, you have hurt me, and upset me. Tomorrow is going to suck, so yes lets just go to bed.” She stated pulling back from him and walking towards his room in a tizzy. It was a strange sort of being she was in currently, wanting to punch Catch and curl up with him for comfort all at the same time.
The next few days were rough, near horrible. They had taken Ellie back to the orphanage, Plague had sulked about some, but she wasn’t around as much as she had been and that left Catch with far too much time on his hands to think on things. There was so much hurt between them in what had been said, almost to the point he was almost certain she wouldn’t stay with him, especially all the awkward and tense silence between them.
He had gone out for a walk, sighing heavily, his heart aching. He didn’t like taking Ellie back and he hated hurting Plague so much.. UGH! It was so frustrating because there was so much to this! But as he walked, he saw a happy little family together, stopping in his tracks and watching them some. That... that was something he didn’t get to have. Yes he had his brother and sister. He had a love in his life for a short time, and they had kids, but that... that right there... Well now he knew what he had to do and what was right.
It took him a few hours more to come home, slowly and quietly making his way into the apartment. “Plague?” he called out somewhat urgently, though he was almost certain she wouldn’t be there. He wouldn’t blame her at all for not staying around... or even with him at that. “Baby.. You home? I really need to talk to you!”
Plague had sorta wandered around in a haze since taking Ellie back. She knew in her own way, that she wasn’t completely ready for a child, but then who ever was? Who was ever truly and completely ready for a child when they appeared? She had gone over it a million times in her mind, and while in a way she knew, knew that this was driving a wedge between herself and Catch she couldn’t bring herself to fight it. She had been listless for days and despondent. Drifting away from someone she had come to care so much for because she couldn’t her head straight and just didn’t care to do so.
She was sitting on his bed, debating on how to approach the topic of what had come between them when he got back. She had snuck in, letting herself in while he was away. She had heard the front door open and her name called out but she didn’t at first have the want to answer. It was the second time he called out that she lifted her head. “In the bedroom.” She had called out, not overly softly but her voice lacked it’s total range of pleasure and bounce.
It was silent, lonely so as he didn’t hear a reply after he had called out to her, not that he could blame her. One hand was in his pocket, the other now scratching at the back of his head, sighing to himself as his heart sank in his chest. Then came the sound of her voice and it was the most amazing sound in the world to him... though far from her usual tone. It took everything in him not to bound into the room, grab her up in his arms, spring all his thoughts and words on her, and apologize endlessly... but that would not cut it for this situation. He stepped toward the bedroom, pushing the door open slowly, and leaned against the doorway with a sigh. “I didn’t think I’d actually find you here...”
He took a breath, just slightly trembling as he stepped in, closing the door behind him. “Baby... I need to talk to you and I hope you’ll hear me out....” Taking slow steps toward her, he sat down on the bed, keeping close but still letting her have some distance from him. It was obvious he had so much on his mind and on his heart, nervous.
Plague looked up at him as he entered taking note of the way he held himself and the tone in his voice. She tilted her head at him waiting, for what she didn’t know but for something. “I... came a little bit ago.” She whispered softly looking off to the side before watching as he moved to sit down beside her leaving some space between them. She was still for a long moment before moving closer to curl against his side, a pitiful little ball.
“Yeah, go ahead, I’ll listen.”
There was a small hint of a smile on his face, more or less laughing to himself at his sneaky kitty coming back while he was away. It felt so difficult to keep the distance between him when he wanted nothing more than to hold her close and apologize, but this wasn’t exactly just that moment yet. The moment she moved herself against him, curling up, he let out a soft sigh of relief. Okay... she didn’t hate him completely... His arm curled about her, pulling her closer against him, leaning his head against the top of hers for a moment, placing a soft kiss to the top of her head.
It was a bigger relief hearing that she’d hear him out. He had been thinking long and hard on so much and there was a lot he needed to get off his chest. “Baby... I’m really sorry for the things I said, especially toward your family. I was being stupid and.. there’s no excuse for what I said. I can’t take those things back.” He sighed, his chest feeling tighter as he braved continuing. “And... I’ve been thinking about what you said with wanting to keep Ellie.... I think I misunderstood your calling her a puppy. It just sounded like you wanted to take in a little pet, but I get what you meant now. I still think that it might be too hard for you to take on a kit by yourself, even with your family helping you out...but I was also thinking and wondering on something....”
But he left it at that for the moment. He was sure she had a million things she wanted to say, maybe even yell at him, but he did have them coming and he wanted her to get everything out there too. It was obvious that this whole thing weighed her down so much, and he hated the fact that he hurt her so.
She blinked at the kiss on her head, it felt nice and she was about to say something when he spoke. She listened to him, as she promised she would have and when he ended, or paused for a moment she looked up at him. She wasn’t sure what to say at first and it made her squirm a bit. “I forgive you, for the things you said about my family. We are crazy... and we do tend to hold ourselves above the law.” She shook her head before looking off to the side.
“I... wasn’t thinking of her as a pet. Pup, or puppy is what my Aunt use to call us. It pissed my mom off so bad, she said we were kittens if anything, cause she was a cat not so slobbering dog. Aunt Glaive refused to submit though and kept on calling us pup or puppy up until... well she still does it from time to time.” She gave a small laugh. “So... I don’t know, little kids are just... puppies. They are pups or yeah. You get what I mean.” She stated waving her hand lightly in the air as if to dismiss the thought. “But... you were thinking... thinking about? I know it will be hard to keep Ellie on my own but... I wanted to give her someone to love her so bad. I hate seeing thrown away pu- … kids.”
He had to peer down at her as she seemed to freeze some at the small kiss to her head, wondering if it had made her uncomfortable or something. As he wasn’t pushed away or yelled at, he figured it would be okay, his hand gently rubbing up and down her arm. He gave the smallest amused chuckle as she spoke about her family. He hadn’t gotten to know them very well yet, but he knew enough that it was amusing to hear her say that. He wondered if she saw something, peering off to the side as well, then back down to her as he realized she was looking off, thinking.
It was amusing to hear about how her family was. They were so different from what he had known growing up, and so amusing. He chuckled to himself, nodding, placing another little kiss to her head. “I know... I just figured it out way too late. I think the shock of you wanting to take in a kid pushed me into a bit of an overdrive.”
Smirking at the wave of her hand, he stayed silent another few moments, going over things he had practiced saying before he came home. “I know you just want to give her a home and love... and well... I’d like to be a part of that.” He smiled, pulling his arm from around her and reached` back to his back pocket, pulling out a small water gun and held it out. “I think this is... a little more up your alley and more safe for a kid than firecrackers.” He held it out to her, smirking, his other hand still tucked away in his pocket.
It was a sort of slow realization process for her. As she listened it didn’t quite register and then he was pulling out a little toy water gun and handing it to her. One could almost see the understanding dawn in her eyes and the way she seemed to almost light up at what he was saying. “I... I...” She took the water gun hugging it a moment before placing it on the bed and launching herself at him; wrapping her arms around his neck in an almost crushing hug as she kissed him rather forcefully. “You mean it?” It was a whisper against his lips as she snuggled into him. “You wanna adopt her with me?” She asked the joy and sheer pleasure in her voice just overwhelming. “Can we go today? She will be so shocked and excited!”
His amusement grew as she was oh so slowly processing what he was saying to her. The fact that it took the little water gun being presented for it actually sink in. It felt like almost the weight of the world off his shoulders as she held to the little toy, but boy did she catch him off guard as she flung herself at him, laughing as she captured him in such a kiss, his free arm curling around her tightly. His eyes closed as he felt her whispering against his lips, nodding slightly before looking to her again. “I do. It seems pretty crazy still, but I think... I think we could give her a happy home together. Arisa always did want a little sister.” he said with a chuckle “Hmmm... Well.. I think we might be able to, but... there’s one really important thing I want to talk to you about first...” His face fell into a most serious look, staring at her most intensely.
She moved to sit in his lap, looking up at him curiously. “It does seem crazy but we aren’t doing it alone ya know. It’s crazy insane, but still... oh Arisa... eh heh... I bet she hates me again huh?” She stated shaking her head before looking back at him curiously once more. “One more really important thing?” She asked tilting her head to the side curiously and cutely all at the same time. “What is it babe? If you are worried about me loving Ellie more than Arisa, I promise it won’t happen. I mean Arisa isn’t mine and I would never make her accept me that way but I love her to death when ya know she isn’t trying to kill me.”
He couldn’t help laughing some as she curled up in his lap. This felt good. Felt right. He knew that this wouldn’t be their only fight, but it was a relief to know that they could get back to being happy like this. He buried his face in her hair, taking in a deep breath and sighed it out softly. Smirking, he bobbed his head some. “I wouldn’t say hate, but don’t expect to be able to raid her closet or dresser anytime soon.” Of course he wasn’t saying just exactly how pissed Arisa was, then again he didn’t think Plague deserved her wrath since he was the one who had to say ‘no’ at first. He chuckled as she tried guessing, shaking his head. “Nah baby. It’s.. more of a you and me thing...”
Slowly he pulled his hand out of his pocket, a small jingle being heard as a key dangled from his hold. “I want you to move in with me. It’s good for a kid to have one place to call home, and well... I’d love for you to be here with me baby.” He was still holding what the key was dangling from tightly, smirking to her. “I know it’s only been a couple months, but...”
She gave a small smile hanging her head. She figured Arisa was pissed with her once more, which was unsurprising but still a bit upsetting. She brushed it off though, she would make it up to Arisa somehow. She tilted her head to the side as he stated it was more about them. She watched as he pulled his hand out of his pocket, her ears catching onto the slight jingle which made her stop and tilt her head. She took note of the key and her eyes went wide her ears falling back against her head. “You... you want me....” She blinked and stuttered over herself her finger going up to poke at the key.
“I... would love that.” She said with a small smile. It would give Ellie a base home and it wasn’t like she didn’t spend all her time over here anyway. It wasn’t much different than everyday, but at the same time it was. This was a big deal, and it would be a change for both of them and both the girls in their life. “If you are sure that is what you want. It will be a change, a big one and I am sure Arisa will be displeased to find out. However if you are willing... then so am I.”
His focus was now on her and the key, so hopeful that she would accept it. He couldn’t help laughing at her first stuttering words, smirking to her. “Baby... I’ve wanted you from the moment I turned around to see you with that squirt gun in your hands.” Of course it was a more... simple want of her back then, but all his wants now were much more. Holding his breath, he waited for her response, a yes or no... or a variation of said words anyways.
His heart stopped dead in his chest for a moment, before racing, grinning as he grabbed her up tightly, still keeping what the key was attached to tight in his hold. “I want this so much. I came home, scared that you would be gone.. that you wouldn’t want anything more to do with me. This won’t be our only fight, but I think the first fight is the start to more... Maybe that’s just me, but... Call me a little hopeful....”
With a smirk, he dangled the key again, but this time showing what it was hanging by. A small gold band with a pink stone. “Extremely hopeful... Now it doesn’t have to be what you automatically think if you don’t want it to be, but we can talk about that more after we see if they’ll let us have our little girl. I think it’ll be fun to have another little brat to spoil on Christmas day.”
She was floored, stunned, and completely at a loss for words. Plague had never in her life been at a loss for words before. She stuttered something hard to tell what it was, before nodding her head, her hand coming up to cover her mouth in shock. She was so surprised, unsure of what she could possibly say. “I can’t believe... I... you... we?” She shook her head before wrapping her arms around him. “Yes, yes... what to say.” She shook her head again. “I know, this is probably something everyone is going to say is too soon. I know that, but I don’t care. Because I’m happy, I want this, and even if it’s hard at times, and we have fights and it seems like there is no hope for us... I know there is.” She stated snuggling him tight before reaching up and taking the ring and the key.
“So yes, yes, yes a million times. We will make this work.” She whispered kissing him gently. “But first, lets go get Ellie, she will be... so surprised and oh so happy. I hope.” She leaned over and plucked up the water gun putting it in her back pocket as well as pocketing the key though she held the ring between her thumb and forefinger. “Shall I put it on or would you like to?”
He watched her, nervous as hell now as she was shockingly speechless. Oh boy. Did he do something totally out of her comfort zone? Was this not okay? He had moved way too soon... he knew it!... especially as she shook her head, his ears falling back. Though the moment her arms wrapped around him, he nearly melted, wrapping her in his arms and holding her tight. “Nothing is ever going to be easy... it make things worth it even more if you have to work for it.... but for us... I think they just make sense, y’know, baby?”
He snickered as she snatched up the ring and key. He hoped so much that she’d at least accept the ring as a gift, but the fact that she truly wanted to be his and that this was the start to not only their lives together, but hopefully the start of a better life for a special little lady... This was going to be an amazing Christmas. He just hoped that she would get her wish... as she just gave him his. “Yeah... let’s go and get her. I hope they’ll let us have her.” He laughed as she stashed the water gun away, taking the ring from her. “I get to give her the water gun” he said, smiling as he took her hand in his, slipping the ring on her finger before giving it a kiss. “Let’s go, baby”
Plague wasn’t sure she had ever been this happy in her life. She was though, extremely excited to have her life moving forward like this. Yes it would take some talking with her daddy to get him to come around but she doubted he would say no to Ellie when they got her. Which yes they were going to get her, she was just sure of this. “You can give her the water gun.” She stated as she followed after him a bounce in her step. She retained that bounce and then some all the way to the orphanage where she promptly made Catch fill out the paperwork while she and Ellie squealed and played games. The start to such a beautiful little family.
