It had been many years since Gwen put on a pair of skates, she reminded herself for the millionth time, and yet she couldn't help but feel some kind of childish excitement overcome her as Feliks inspected the padding. She wasn't one for fashion, or clothing or shoes, but something about boots with wheels and being practical to use every day made Gwen giddy and almost want to squeal.
Almost. After all, she had her pride to account for, and she didn't just squee for anybody (at least, she thought she wouldn't). When he was done, she was considering taking him up on that offer to practice in the store, but the thought of breaking something when she could
barely afford the skates alone completely shot down that idea. It was already bad enough that Gwen was preparing to explain herself to Maddy about purchasing a pair of skates- imagine how angry she'd be if she had to pay for damages!
"Thanks, but I think I'll save the practicing for outside. It'll be much safer that way, for your store, anyway!" Gwen said with a cheerful smile, looking the skates over and regretting that she'd have to take them off to walk to the counter. Except... she wouldn't have to! She was certain that she'd at least make it to the counter and out the store without falling on her face, and she was more than willing to prove that when she grabbed her purse and made her way to the counter, half walking, half sliding to her destination, and the way she held herself made it clear that her pride wouldn't allow herself to be helped on the way there. "Thanks! I think this pair will get me far!"
'Assuming I don't forget to stop and go crashing into traffic,' Gwen thought with a soft chuckle, figuring that the cashier would have thought her crazy but not caring what he thought as she handed him the money. She'd leave this store with a lighter wallet, but the boots with wheels (and her advantage with outrunning nuns) was well worth it.

Sounds good for a wrap up, don't you think? c:
