Mug plucks a berry from the shell, setting it down to examine it closely before snapping it up and eating it. It wouldn't do to find the berry only to be unable to remember what it looks like. Next he chooses a cluster of appleberries, the purple-red ones Sorr favors for their super sweetness. With a shake he separates one from the group and eats it. "Ick, too sweet." He says, grabbing the cluster stem and tossing it to Faint.
"Your turn." Mug says, deciding to finish the lemon while she chooses another berry and fruit.

This was becoming quite the crapshoot. They weren't finding the right berries but at least they were eating well. She hadn't had a complete meal in days, her bones were starting to give out and her eyes began to look sunken. This was just what she needed. She took the clusters from the other buck, bit into another red berry, swallowed and feasted. Alright not that one. She tried a group of the same orange red berries. With a mouthful of berries, she barely gets out, "So, what's your name and if your sister has a garden what do you have?" She bit into a mushroom expecting to taste more than slim and dirt. Nope. Most definitely not this berry. Berry juices started to stain her coat. But not her hair just yet.

"I'm Mugwort, what's your name?" He feels just a bit odd about not sharing this information sooner. Isn't it customary to exchange names before having a meal with somekin? He wonders. No matter, in a moment the introductions will be complete and he'll no longer be eating with a stranger.
"I have a sister, three actually, and three brothers." He answers, just a bit of teasing in his voice. "Sorrel is enough work for me." Mug's tone is a bit exasperated, but its easy to tell family is important to him. "Actually the garden is as much mine as her's. I help Sorrel tend it when she's gone and bring her back plants when I go wandering or hunting." He explains. "I just never got around to learning the names of the plants. Only what is good to eat, what is poison, what causes waking dreams and what is good for healing." He continues.
Mug turns his attention back to the food. Plucking out another berry he eats it, after giving it a good look. Then a tart citrus fruit, Mug can't tell what kind just that its lime sized but colored somewhere between orange and yellow. He frowns as he chews, still tart. This'll take a while, he thinks, plucking up another berry to eat.

"Weak-Kneed." was about as far as she went before devouring more.
They ate more berries and tried various fruit until it all came back to the elusive miracle berry. Soon enough, berry and other fruit juices mixed on her mouth, neck and front paws. Because her hair was so long and she lost herself in the joy of eating and trying new fruits, soon that got tangled and berried up as well. Finally, she looked at him, seeing he wasn't having any better luck.
"Should we ask your sister, Sorrel?"

Mug finishes the last berry when Weak-kneed asked about Sorrel. "Asking is a good idea, I don't know where she wandered off to." He replies, looking around and trying to remember when he'd seen Sorr last. "She said something about hunting and going to visit her kids." He says, remembering she'd left two days ago. "If it was just a hunt she'd be back by now, but there's no telling how long it'll be." He adds. "You can wait for her, if you'd like. Or tell me where to find you and I can bring you a plant." Mug offers. "Or come back in a few days." He adds, remembering not all kin have a set home.

Before Faint could respond, rustling from nearby roots and bushes could be heard. 2 kin emerged, their shapes odd, unfamiliar and both were carrying parcels. They looked at both Faint and Mugwort, and after quick cursory glance, dismissed Faint, but went back to Mugwort. They looked at him expectantly before dropping their parcel. Out rolled out two skulls and a totoma horn full of red berries. "Hello brother Mugwort" greeted River-Swollen. It had been a while since she ventured to their garden. Of the family, each had their own hobbies and secrets. Glossbones and her tended to the more crafty side of things. It was a smart move on their part to parlay their interest in playing with dead things into a booming business. Not quite booming yet. There was one Mare who had visited twice already. River-Swollen and Glossbones were the Skull Collectors. With their small army they created works of art or danger with their skulls. "We're here to replenish our mushrooms supply. Don't suppose you have anymore healing ointments do you? A boar slashed my leg and it's oozing pus." Ah, Glossbones, ever straight to the point. Weak-Kneed sat in silence, mulling over the last of her fruit wondering what was going on. Speak of the devils. Furtively, she swiped a red berry that came out of the totoma's horn. She waited and looked at Mugwort for silent confirmation it was okay to eat. It was only then she noticed the 8 green owlcats.

The appearance of his siblings throws Mug off, but not for long. "Help yourself, plenty of mushrooms. I'll have to look for the ointment." Turning he catches site of Faint snatching a berry. Mug shakes his head, altering his path to walk past her. "Better to leave it be." He says quietly.
"We're out of ointment, brother dear. But give me a bit and I'll whip up a poultice." Sorr says, coming up the path. She grins at her siblings, her smile wavering for an instant when she sees how thin two of them are. "Turtle! Bring the boar, Glossbones and River-swollen could use the meat." Sorr demands, in a more snippy tone then usual, seeing these two aren't taking proper care of themselves pinches a nerve. "You two. You aren't so far away that we can't go hunting for you." She grumbles at them, going from here to there and gathering plants for Glossbones' poultice. "By the way- Oh! Who's this?" Sorr's first thought is cut off when she sees Faint. "A friend of yours?" She asks Glossbones and River-swollen, sure she'd be no friend of Mug's.
Turtle lumbers over to Glossbones, sitting on his haunches to let the boar slide off his back. "Hey Uncle, Auntie." He greets River-swollen and Glossbones. Not that he'd ever say but these two are his favorites, of his mother's siblings at least. "Good thing we took Gran's pack out. Some of them, at least. The wolf and spectral hound won't do what Mom says." He tells them. "Or the badger, but that one won't even obey Gran most of the time." He adds with a grin. "Help yourselves, it'll take Mom a while to get the poultice done. I can gather the mushrooms for you if you want. Same as last time?" He asks. This turn of events leaves Mug totally flummoxed. Sorr never returns so soon from a hunt. She must have met Turtle on the way, he thinks. He's just about to go help Sorr make the poultice when she mentions Faint. Blushing a deep pink he heads off to help Turtle gather mushrooms instead. He'd never be able to live it down if any of them find out he was actually being nice to a stranger.

She fights off the temptation to flee as the boar sliders to the ground, in a natural harmony that all but presents itself to her in an upmost pleasing manner. She salivates so much she misses Mugwort's blooming blush. The aroma of the fleeting warmth lures her closer but the familial chatter keeps her from joining the fray. They are warm, serene and even genial in their banter. Faint grew up alone and although she is never lonely, she is not without her wants of a family. And so she sits, watching the sister and brotherly exchanges, quietly piecing who is who from snippets of convo. She waits but then Mugwort leaves. Embarrassed she must have missed a cue, she slinks off to her own home. Or just away. She doesn't know anyone there. Glossbones and River-Swollen take Sorrel's harsh loving and Turtle's subservience gladly. It always felt like home when the siblings got together. It almost animates them. Even the buck of few words Glossbones is getting caught up in the excitement. He regals them with their first repeat customer: a colorful wasp formed Mare and her propensity for the delicatest designs and their mushrooms. River-Swollen joins in on the fun but glances furtively back and forth from where the white doe was sitting and the passge between two trees she left from. Hmmmm, maybe someone should get her. venafydan End it now, continue onward with Spetiver bbz, or have it so that someone finds her and brings her back?

Mug and Turtle made efficient work on the mushrooms, amassing a nice pile (being careful to keep root clusters intact) in a short time. So when Turtle noticed the unknown doe wander off he went after her. Time spent hunting has made him a good tracker and he picks up her trail quickly. The burly buck trots along hoping to catch up to her. He's curious about her, no friend of his mom's and he's sure Glossbones or River-swollen would have introduced her if they were friends. Which leaves Mug, and Turtle has never known Mug to associate with strangers. If his armored uncle has made a friend it'd be a shame to let family scare her off.Finishing the poultice Sorr takes it over to Glossbones and starts to smear it on his wound. "Mug help me tie a leaf on this." She asks.Mug grabs a large leaf and some thin, dried vines and with Sorr they get it on and tied. While Sorr explains how often to change the dressing and mixing instructions for the basket of ingredients to their siblings, Mug takes a look around. Seeing Faint has gone makes him a little sad. Then he notices his nephew is missing too. "Where'd Turtle go?" He asks.Catching sight of Faint, he speeds up and calls out "Hold up! We aren't scary, I promise. And Uncle Mug needs a friend and your a pretty doe and must be nice or Uncle wouldn't have talked to you." Turtle blurts the last with out thinking. "You should come back, there's plenty of boar to go around. At least stay for a meal." He adds.fluorescein TB made the choice for me.

venafydan Spetiver makes fun, handsome bbz. I saw you had them in the CC thread. Should we also include Desire for the hair/horn and possible scale edit? She flinches at the bluntness of Turtle's words. It's mortifying to hear your fears verbalized in an abrupt, loud manner. She's embarrassed 29 ways to Matope and back. But soon that emotion blossoms into delight at having been missed. It's foreign and it's fleeting but it's very real. But to save grace, she feigns heavy steps and reluctantly turns back to Turtle and follows him back. She especially tries hard not to laugh at the pink buck's insistence that his family is not scary. She starts fidgeting when she wonders why Mug the supposed hermit talked to her. But that boar and the invitation.. it would be rude to turn down, at least that's what she told herself. "Alright, I'll stay for a little bit. I was wondering around looking for the so called famous miracle berries." There. She has a legitimate reason to come back. The family runs on gossip, that is what ties them together. And how the tides had turned against Mugwort. Now that he's all patched up, thanks to turtle and Sorrel, he asks his little brother about the white one. "So, where did you meet her? And what's her name? Scared her away did you?"

Mug grins when he sees Faint come back, but it quickly turns into a deep blush and a stammered answer. "Glossbones, River-swollen, Sorrel, Turtle-bird, meet Weak-kneed." He nods to each member of his family as he speaks their names. "She was looking for a specific berry and since I didn't know it we just tried them all." He offers as an explanation. Then he turns to Glossbones "And Weak-kneed didn't run off until you showed up so I'd say you scared her off." He says with a bit of sass in his voice.Sorr listens to her brother, giving the doe a look up and down. "What berry?" She asks, then clucks at Mug. "I've told you many times you should learn the plant's names too." Her tone is mock irritated. "So was my dear brother kind to you?" She asks Faint, walking over to Mug and adding in a whisper "And you yell at me for talking to strangers." Sorr shakes her head and winks at Faint. "C'mon, I'll find those berries for you. Help yourself to some boar if you'd like."Turtle grins at the banter, poor Uncle Mug, but really he brought it on himself. "Berries, huh? Couldn't think up a better reason to meet a pretty doe?" He adds.Mug walks over to Faint and gives her an encouraging nudge. "I think they like you." He says, a silly smile on his face. If they approve then maybe she's ok. Even if she's a stranger. "You should stay a while, plenty to eat and so long as you don't mind the teasing, conversation. And Sorr can find those berries for you. I'll see is I can talk her into giving you a plant, or seeds at the least.fluorescein Poor Mug won't ever live this down, will he?

Despite her discomfort at the unfamiliar and Mugwort's strange and overly familiar gesture, Weak-Kneed decides to stay. If not for the boar and possibility of red berries then for the warmth of a caring family. And the fact that she tried so many berries and citrus is still awesome. All in all, a very pleasant and productive day. New friends and, she glances at Mugwort, possibly something more, she's tickled pink. She stays and even engages in some conversation though she's quick to muteness and not fighting to be overheard. It's a pleasant place, almost dreamy in its friendly chaotic atmosphere.
"I think I'll stay a while" she replies to Mugwort before committing herself to an evening of fun.
