He had forgotten, temporarily, that a Trine crimson had clutched before Sunnath had. Calanoth's disinterest in the color, as well as his preoccupation with his own clutch had let the fact slip carelessly from both of their minds. He nodded as graciously as he could to Kleos, accepting the reminder, even if he would still bet on a first born bronze from his own dragon's clutch.

Shards even his dragon was young. D'lin, of all the bronze rider's Z'fer had met so far, probably held the most favorable position. Or at least Z'fer didn't hate him. "I can't recall the last time a crimson clutched at Malvren. I think most of ours are fighters."

Their conversation was cut short as Mercy called for the lesson to finally start. Z'fer found himself a seat upfront and glanced around for Hekate. He doubted she'd want to come sit with him. Coming to the lesson didn't mean hiding in the back with the dragons the whole time either.

............................

Dizzian giggled and pushed playfully at her friend's shoulders. She didn't get a chance to respond before Carltis was upon them. She hadn't met this Rochelle person, not having much to do with the candidates anymore, but if Hekate liked them then Dizzian was disposed to be favorable... if a little cautious. She wasn't particularly fond of Hekate's other 'find' after all.

The 'type' of men that she teased Hekate over were never what Dizzian looked for for herself. They were handsome, she wouldn't deny her friend good aesthetic tastes, but they seemed too intense, almost too dangerous for Dizzian. Unlike some she wasn't drawn to 'bad boys'.

As for blueriders, well, even before she'd impressed she'd had a taste for the stereotype. She liked innocent, playful, and sweet men. Boys that made her feel like the bad one for flirting with them. She liked seeing flushed cheeks and hearing stammered words. It was all harmless fun after all. She'd yet to ever actually settle down with a boyfriend.

With a hand on Courath's neck she thought about what Hekate and Carltis had both asked. "Courath wants to hear what they say... I don't know if I really care myself... I'll probably just join one of Trine's wings when the time comes. Everyone always needs greens so it's not like I have to worry there."

Courath's eyes whirled blue as she watched the three converse. ~ It is worth listening too, as he has said- ~ She tilted her head towards Carltis. ~ It should be a show. No doubt there will be some valuable information shared today. You might find yourself surprised. ~ She turned and sent a cheerful greeting to Rioth as the black joined them.

~Rioth it is good to see you! ~
......................

Ailin slipped into a chair near the back, leaving plenty of open space for the weyrlings who belonged there and keeping himself where Jerint might not make a fuss. It was one of the rarer days where the blue was more interested in his own bonded's attention than that of everyone else, for which Ailin was thankful.

Hello Rioth Devith greeted his clutchmate with a nod and a rumbled croon before turning his attention back towards this new candidate that was approaching them. He vaguely remembered the boy from the fights during the gather, but the memory was rather hazy. Either way he bent his head letting out a wuff of greeting to Carltis as his eyes whirled a welcoming blue and green.

"Don't worry Carltis it's all complimentary." Hekate teased flashing the boy a bright grin and chuckling at Devith's greeting. It would be interesting to see how Z'fer reacted to his least favorite candidate being there. Hopefully no fights would break out, but as Carltis said there would certainly be a show worth watching. "I hope Rochelle shows up too. She'd probably have fun watching the Wingleaders try and sway the others." She joked knowing the young woman rather enjoyed her eyecandy and there was plenty to be had here.

"As to wings." Hekate shrugged reaching a hand up to stroke Devith's eyeridges absentmindedly drawing a croon from her bondmate. "I don't really have any in mind since none have really caught my eye." She replied frowning as they were called to take seats for things to start.

"Guess we'd better get over there." Hekate lamented with a sigh that was echoed by a less then pleased growl on Devith's part.

You could stay back here with me Mine.
Devith offered, but Hekate shook her head and gave him a gentle smile.

"Don't worry I won't be long. Sides I agreed to at least come to the lesson." Hekate replied and finally reluctantly made her way over to the seats with the others taking a chair in the far back and crossing her arms to watch the proceedings.

Why are we here again? Loveth asked hers for probably the tenth time as they walked to the 'meet and greet' the other weyrlings would be attending. 'Because I want to see what happens and I kinda want to meet the wingleaders.' The pale crimson was still a bit confused as she padded along with Aislin. But we won't be- 'Courath and Devith will also be there.' That had Loveth perking up enough to forget her question and happily go along. Chuckling and shaking her head, the young woman fiddled with the edge of her shirt. She still wasn't sure why she was coming really, especially since Loveth had made the choice that they wouldn't be fighting. Still...it was a chance for Loveth to do her social thing and she would get to see the wingleaders up close and all.

Before she could dive any deeper into those thoughts, Loveth let out an excited greeting to practically everyone who'd shown up to the event. Aislin blinked before laughing out loud. "Bit excited, hm?" Words fell on deaf ears as the crimson hurried over to her clutchmates and gave them each an affectionate nuzzle; apparently she'd gotten over her unsureness with Devith. Courath, Devith! How are you and yours? She hadn't seen them since all that horrible business, of course remembering that had a spike of annoyance coming from her bondmate. Best not to think about that then. Are you two excited to meet the wingleaders? This is an important step mine says.

The crimson's attention as she noticed the black whom she'd skipped over in her hurry to see the green and silver. Oh, when did he get there? Rioth! Hello there~ I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there. How are you? A quick order to hers and she continued being her bubbly self. It was so exciting, she could cheer her fellow weyrlings on meet new dragons. Her head turned to look at the older crimson curiously before taking in the rest of them. Well, they looked important.

Shaking her head, Aislin headed to the seats as soon as Mercy said they would be starting. This should prove to be interesting, even if it caused a small welling of disappointment. Ah, positive thoughts otherwise Loveth would be attached to her side again. Wrinkling her nose slightly, she flopped herself down into the closet chair to the end and eyed the adult riders curiously. Though her eyes continued to dart back to the crimson multiple times. It seemed both rider and dragon couldn't help but be more curious about a fellow crimson than the others, regardless of how important they were.

Mercy

Mercy waited while everyone found their seats and quieted down, Loveth and her's last minute arrival was met with a smile and a nod before she turned her attention to the audience as a whole. More Candidates had shown up then she had expected but that was fine, they might as well start learning about how the Weyr worked now..it might make the transition a bit easier if they impressed.

"Thank you all for coming, the Weyrlings of course know who I am but I see some Candidates here that I don't recognize so I'll introduce myself, I'm Mercy rider of white Aerith" She motioned to the side where Aerith lifted her head to rumble her own greeting. "Aerith and I were originally from Malvren and if any of your impress I guess we'll be your teachers." She told them all with a smile. "But of course you've all come to meet your future Wingleaders, this is an important decision for all of you - and I urge everyone to pay close attention to what you are told here today."

Turning to the side she motioned to the Wingleaders behind her. "First off we have Z'fer, rider of bronze Calanoth and Wingleader of the Storm Riders, Next is D'lin rider of Bronze Plexith and S'kor rider of Bronze Scarath, Wingleader and second of the Gale Stalkers Wing, Next is Kleos, rider of Crimson Moriath and Wingleader of the Dauntless Wing..missing is N'mol of Bronze Tyeth, Wingleader of the Dawn Fliers..I expect something has kept him held up for the time being. In any case I've already drawn numbers to determine the speaking order. D'lin and S'kor shall go first, followed by Kleos, Z'fer and N'mol if he manages to make it."

[Kleos & Moriath]

Kleos was only too glad to go and take her seat but keen thought she was she was sure to give a respectful nod to the others before turning away. Good manners were only befitting of a wingleader such as herself; anything less than proper conduct at all times was quite unacceptable. She had an example to set after all, both to the young ones and to those of her fellows who could sometimes lack such graces.

Easing herself carefully into her chair Kleos turned her head to watch Mercy introduce them. When her name was mentioned she half bowed from her sitting position, making sure to sweep the whole audience with her eyes as she straightened.

Moriath rumbled to Aerith, and resisted the temptation to turn and regard the silver pair.

-----------

[Carltis]

Dizzian's comment got a snort and a nod from the tall scarred Harper. "At the moment I think I might just pick a number out of a hat," he agreed with a good deal of snap and sneer in his voice. "Once I've removed the kid that is of course. Probably the reason he's not here is he's too busy worrying about an outbreak of spots, or maybe his voice has started to drop and he's just too embarrassed to face us." Nobody had ever accused Carltis of being a good, respectful, gentle tempered sort of a person.

"Glad to hear that," he went on to Hekate, his tones dry, "I'd hate to think I was being objectified or compared to a tunnelsnake. Hu, and yes, agreed." Sharp dark brown eyes swept up to the dais. "We'd hate to keep our betters waiting, right? They worked so hard for their positions, all that strenuous speech making in the little popularity contest circus. A sharded farce, the whole mess of it," he concluded, whip-sharp voice full of bitterness and anger. Taking a deep breath Carltis flexed his hands and cracked his neck. "Must hurry to hear their words of noble wisdom," he growled under his breath as he too moved off to take a seat.

As the white rider made her little speech he watched with his lips pressed into a flat line, because guess who else had won their job based merely on some speeches? His bitterness to her was considerably less however because he didn't want her job, and though her lack of experience could still be rather disastrous for her charges at least she was only assistant Weyrlingmaster; there were others to watch her and keep her in check.

When Mercy introduced the wingleaders Carltis started to smile, or at least show his teeth in an upward curve. This was going to be such fun!

[Rochelle]

She'd just barely had time to change after shift to get to the meeting on time.It meant her hair was still on her head in a messy pile and still had goggle rings around her eyes, hastily made up with some kohl to not be completely naked in the face.

Just as Mercy started introducing the Wingleaders, the glass crafter finally made it, skidding to a halt beside Carltis. Ooh, Rochelle knew that smile, she didn't like that smile when in public aimed at people who may one day rule their lives. She spotted Hekate and waved, hissing a greeting even if the silver rider didn't notice at first. Keeping that smile from growing into a crackdust explosion of words had her attention.

"I don't like that look on you, Carltis," Rochelle hissed, trying to keep herself from gasping for breath. The girl could run around the Weyr if needed but really, so quickly and after panicked dressing, anyone would be out of breath. "Don't start anything reckless."

-----

[Kaeyne]

When the introductions started, Kaeyne moved from the side and rear of the little group towards the middle, eyes trained on the wingleaders. His gaze focused in on the first bronzerider - Z'fer? - because really, he didn't often see another man with hair as long as his own. Bronze, bronze, bronze... Crimson.

Huh.

His hands tucked into his pockets, the young man rocking back on his heels to listen, to watch, to wait for people to flail. People always flailed. He kind of loved it.

Hekate couldn't help, but chuckle at Carltis's passing remarks as she looked on upon the Weyrleaders with perhaps more of a glint of mischievousness in her eyes then there had been before. Ah and it looked like Rochelle was able to make it after all and keep her friend from causing too much of scene. Hopefully she'd be a bit slow to react. Between Carltis and herself this whole fiasco might actually end up being entertaining after all like he had promised.

Eyeing the seated Wingleaders Hekate tried her best to keep the look of insulted disgust from her face at the mention of N'mol and Benden. He probably was skipping the meeting because he didn't want to risk any 'lesser' dragons or atypicals in his wing. Oh well at least Dizzian and Courath would get to have a decent time shopping around Wingleaders. Hekate would rather not even be in a wing, but she supposed it'd be better to choose then to be forced too. So trying her best to feign interest she waited for the speeches to be made. At least Kleos was first. She was always interesting and as the only atypical wingleader Hekate was rather intent on at least hearing her speech.

Devith eyed Loveth enjoying seeing his sibling so excited and curious of the current event. At least she seemed to have made it out of the tragedies of the celebration unharmed. Now if only his own bruises would be gone then he could go ahead and forget about the whole thing. I am doing fine Loveth. Mine is unhappy, but no worse for wear. Devith responded listening patiently as Loveth went on about choosing wings and how this was such an important step. He personally didn't feel in the least bit excited about the whole thing. If anything it felt more like drudgery, but he was not going to ruin his sisters excitement.

Z'fer nodded his head when he was introduced, eyes inspecting the crowd. The weyrlings were thin in number, Brakiath's clutch not being entirely large, but the crowd had gathered a fair amount of curious candidates as well. With two clutches on the Sands some of them would probably end up in this place in a few months time anyways. Still he felt they shouldn't go picking their wing till they knew what they rode.

Some looked promising though. There was a sturdy looking young man in the center of the crowd, and a few more circling around the back that didn't look like runts or twigs. He spotted Hekate taking her seat with a few others her age and nodded with satisfaction. At least until he saw who was by her side. The vicious grin the young man wore made his temper flare and Z'fer focused his gaze instead on the weyrlings and candidates in front of him, possibly glaring at them in an uncomfortable manner.

..........................

"Well, maybe a little objectifying~" Dizzian teased, following Hekate and Carltis to their seats. Carltis's comments about the kid in the hat had gone over her head. She had no idea what he was talking about. Any argument for or against the Wingleader's speeches would have come out weak as well. She hadn't Impressed at the time and wasn't paying as close of attention as she should have to the goings on.

Dizzian waved when she saw Aislin in the crowd, motioning for the girl to come and take the seat next to her. She saw Nawa too and gave the black rider a wave and smile. Dizzian already knew the three Wingleader's gathered, at least by sight. D'lin, of course, was of Trine and he'd also been kind enough to visit her right after she'd been injured. What they talked about she couldn't remember but she remembered he was nice. Z'fer she knew of through Hekate though she'd only met him a couple times. She didn't care for him at all, with how he seemed to go back and forth in his feelings for Hekate. She hated how he made her friend cry over and over again. Kleos she didn't know. She knew of her, but she didn't know anything about her personally. She was an intimidating woman to look at though. N'mol she knew even less and the fact that he wasn't here didn't help her at all in her judgement.

~ Thank you Mine. ~ As Dizzian had been thinking about each of the Wingleader's present, Courath had been 'watching' her memories of them, taking what information she deemed important and filing it away for use during this meeting.

~Umm... You're welcome?~

Courath returned Loveth's affectionate nuzzle with one of her own, a feeling of laughter at the crimsons bubbly excitement. ~ We are well thank you! And yours? I am not exactly excited but I am prepared. I want to hear what they have to say. ~ As she spoke she walked towards the back of the crowd, carefully avoiding any straggling candidates as she positioned herself to view the wingleaders.

S'kor

S'kor gravely nodded to Kleos. Despite her injuries she was still here to meet the weyrling. "I am healing, and I hope your wounds are too. D'lin," the second greeted his wingleader with an easy slaute. Greetings over, he settled hismelf carefully into a chair. The healers insisting he still took it easy on his back.

He kept his expression open, though he doubted any of the weyrlings would be asking him direct questions with D'lin present. S'kor listened politely to the wingleaders speaking of the clutches as his eyes wandered over the crowd. He turned his attention back to Mercy when she called the meeting to order. It surprised him a bit that D'lin and himself were to talk first. He passed a glance to D'lin, asking if he wanted to do the talking as he was the wingleader.

Scarath rumbled his greetings to the other dragons as they arrived. Morning Plexith. He watched the arriving weyrlings with interest. A young black specifically caught his attention. Greetings to you and Yours. The imitation of a bow amused Scarath in a cute way.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 30, 2012 12:12 pm

We are glad to be here, the black replied to Aerith, picking out a sunny spot for himself and settling comfortably now that his greetings had been given. And it is good to see you as well, sister Courath.

When his greeting was not only acknowledged by Plexith and Scarath, but responded to, Rioth was immensely pleased. He shared these feelings with the two bronzes, adding a few polite words as well. It is a pleasure to be here. We look forward to the proceedings.

Oh, hello Loveth! He rumbled a greeting to his crimson clutchmate, spaded tail curling with contentment. There is no need to apologize. A belated greeting is better than none. To answer your question, I am well. And how are you and Yours?

While her dragon socialized, Nawa took a seat, keeping at least one space between anyone else and herself. She knew her fellow Weyrlings well enough, of course, but she wasn't friends with any of them, so she did not presume enough familiarity to sit close to anyone. Besides, they were here to listen to the wingleaders, not chat amongst themselves.

[Carltis]

"Rochelle, glad you made it," Carltis murmured, dark eyes still trained on the stage. "I can't imagine why you would think I'd start anything foolish, I'm just here to listen to the wise wingleaders in the hopes that one day I might be half as fabulous as they are. Do you think I should grow my hair out?" He pushed his fingers through the disorderly deep brown strands in question. "I think I might look dashing and refined but with just enough essence of danger if I had long sensuous hair. I probably don't have the patience to maintain it though; pity." Carltis sounded thoughtful, sincere and then regretful as he mused aloud but that shark-smile remained.

Dizzian

Dizzian wasn't trying to listen in but as the Wingleaders got themselves sorted out she couldn't help but overhear Carltis as he spoke to Rochelle. Her eyes widened and she clamped both hands tight over her mouth as she dissolved into giggles. Dizzian collapsed forward, burying her face into her knees as her back shook with the force of will it took to keep from laughing out loud. It was too perfect. He could only be referencing one person and she wouldn't say anything for the sake of her friend, she shared his dislike of the long haired wher-a**.

It didn't help that she'd been comparing the two just moments earlier either. Little tears leaked from the corners of her eyes as she failed to regain her composure.

~ Really? ~ Courath asked with humor in her voice. She hadn't heard the candidate's conversation but from what she gleaned from Dizzian's mind it was both mildly insulting and flattering at the same time.

Hekate half turned arching a brow at Carltis a rather amused smile on her lips. She knew all two well that Z'fer and him got along about as well as felines and whers. However she was hardly bothered by the slight teasing insult to her dare she say romantic interest? If anything it only left Hekate feeling rather smug.

While Mercy was no doubt keeping a keen eye on her and Devith. . .possibly complaining about them at the same time in her inattention the candidates were at play. If the woman thought Hekate was trouble. . .well it seemed she might possibly get a taste of what real trouble was like in the form of Carltis. Seeing Dizzian double over for a moment Hekate was concerned only to shake her head as she realized her friend was laughing and rather hard too.

It seemed she hadn't been the only one to overhear Carltis's quip.

F'iar couldn't believe they were late, but Solath needed to be oiled, his hide had patches that even S'kiro and A'in couldn't figure out. "You really need to start rubbing on the beach more. I talked to that one dolphineer and they said it works for the dolphins."
The blue dragon just shook his head at His. Why would I do that? And besides we are late. "Yes we are late and now I have to make up for it." He brushed off the last of the sand from his shirt, looking around for the Wingleaders.

D'lin

Although he wasn't entirely pleased about going first, hardly being the speech giving type D'lin none the less offered a cheerful smile and stood at the invitation to speak, waiting until Mercy reseated herself and the crowd settled a bit before starting. He had decided to handle this in much the same way that he had handled his speeches way back when he had become a Wingleader..that is he didn't really have anything prepared, rather he'd just speak what he saw as the truth.

"I know everyone has been telling you how important this decision is, that it shouldn't be taken lightly or made in haste and they are right...to some degree. I don't want all of you to feel pressured or fret about making a wrong decision when it boils right down to it all wings pretty much operate in the same manner...our practices run the same way, our formations are basically the same - we all follow traditional methods that have been perfected and passed down pass after pass from generations before..so in that respect which wing you choose doesn't really matter, you will perform the same job more or less in any wing you are placed in." Pausing D'lin glanced at the crowd, it was the truth, though some wings were stricter and some more relaxed the basic function was still the same.

"Not very helpful is it? However just because you all perform the same job no matter where you are placed does not mean that you will enjoy it in one sport more then you will in another - and in that respect I encourage all of you to pick a Wing that you feel comfortable working within, if you are more comfortable in a stricter routine that choose a wing that is run in such a manner, likewise for a more relaxed environment. Joining a wing is a bit like joining a family, sometimes you'll get along, sometimes you won't but in the end it is important that you feel comfortable and confident enough to approach your fellows and function in your job regardless of the situation you find yourself faced in..in the past that situation was threadfall which is hard enough but lately we have found ourselves facing things that could test anyone's mettle and being part of a Wing that you know is there to help you, to work with you, can certainly make those situations easier to deal with..so find a Wingleader you get along with, someone you feel comfortable approaching, asking questions too and even demanding things from. It is not your job to make us happy or even make our lives easy, it is our job to make sure you can function to the best of your ability, that the wing supports one another in whatever way is necessary and that as many of us as possible live to tell the tale about it later on. I'd like to think the Gale Stalkers work in such a cohesive fashion - certainly we are not perfect, no one is but I'm confident that those who fly with me will always perform to the best of their ability, will always look out for one another and I like to think none of them have any problems with coming to me or S'kor with concerns or ideas they might have. S'kor?" Glancing to his Wingsecond D'lin waited to see if he had anything he wanted to add before they relinquished the speaking position to Kleos.
