Basic files? Hunter database?
Jake gave her an incredulous look.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that kind of information is supposed to be CLASSIFIED, and not meant for prying eyes."

That meant you Solia. Yes. HE WAS ONTO YOU.
In truth, he was just a sad excuse of a deathie, not even knowing this much basic info.

He didn't know then. This only made her giggle more. "Nope! Basic files are open to all hunter levels. Now say your medical records, past life, weapon source- that's all under lock and key. But basic info is open for anyone."

He managed to attack her but she couldn't help it, she was still giggling. "Want me to show you later?"

He wasn't quite sure how he was supposed to feel about the fact that people (or OTHER people) were going through these files and knew stuff about him he'd rather not. Though when told that at least some of the more IMPORTANT details were confidential, he gave a small sigh of relief. Here he was starting to think NOTHING was sacred here, what with the "weapons" that could hear your every thought.

At Solia's offer though, he merely shook his head. He didn't want people to get to know him and vice versa.

All her giggling had given him the time he needed to attack, Solia's fear shield holding out but with warning from Israfel. It was low, time to be a bit more careful.

"Why not?" He didn't want to read the files... "You're a death trainee, why be in this division if you're not you know, going to do it?" She paused before shooting at him. "Do you want to be a sun?"

Maybe. Some people transferred, though she didn't understand why.

Jake frowned.
"Do WHAT? Read other people's personal information?" He scoffed. "No thanks. Not interested."

Being a sun sounded quite nice right now.

He gave a sigh, and hefted his tonfas, though not in time to block a powerful attack from Solia, at which he stumbled back from.
"No."

It was true all he wanted to do was just attack, but he lacked knowledge. Going blindly into a fact without knowing your enemy's strengths and weaknesses was asking for death, and to be honest, he only lasted this long because Chester seemed to act as the intelligence part of the duo. His voice of reason, one might say.

Jake grit his teeth. Would he be stronger IF he were a sun? To just blindly attack and not think about anything else?

Well, not anymore.

Placing the handle of one of the tonfas in his mouth, he used the free hand to pull out the dagger he had tucked in his sash. Time to see what this thing could do.

Closing the distance between them, he raised the dagger and swung down.

She couldn't help the puzzled look that came over her face. Reading other people's info was what they did. Had to do in some cases. "But... That's just what... We DO. Make other people's business our business. I just..." He didn't want to be a sun so what did this guy want? Solia had no idea.

Confused in own thoughts she missed his rush, the dagger coming down, Israfel calling out to her with panic. No. Not cool. Brown eyes widened as she saw a thing that was very much not hunter tech. And not his weapon. Israfel had no answers but-
Solia, let me sing. the siren's tone was serious, and it didn't pass Solia why. Whatever that dagger had done had ripped a hole in her shield. She would need to up her game.

"I have no idea what that was but-" bow brought up, the arrow glowed brighter along with the rose. The shot fired she felt that rush of panic as the note ripple out, loud like cymbals, a crash of an inhuman voice singing a wordless song.
Last time she'd drawn blood. This time- Solia was already darting forward with concern.

Solia's confused response only earned a scoff when he placed the dagger back into his sash and took the tonfa handle out of his mouth.

"I didn't join the death division to find out more about PEOPLE. I did it to find out more on those halloween creatures. Strengths. Weaknesses. Types."
Basically, whatever would give him an edge in a fight.

"Frankly, I can only think of one good use for people's personal files here on this island."
At this, he gave her a very scrutinizing look.
He wasn't sure what she was planning to do with this information, but whatever it was, he didn't like it.

Caught up in the discussion, he hadn't noticed that he was MUCH too close, and was staring at the arrow head-on.

The sound was deafening.
A scream... screech?
Whatever it was, it made his ears ring.

There was the sound of crackling as his fear shield ruptured, and a searing pain engulfied his left arm as the arrow went straight through his shoulder.
The pain was unbearable.

Chester's frantic voice was the last he heard as he crashed to the ground, tonfas clattering on the floor as everything around him faded to black.

The sight of red, Solia fell into a panic. That was so not what she had meant to do. Not at all. A string of apologies rang out as she went from English to French and back in rapid fire. A sharp bark from Israfel, and she drew out her phone, calling up the medic team.

Later, after they carted Jake to the infirmary, Solia would be found in a small ball of guilt in the hunter commons.
Maybe she was in the right division for all the wrong reasons.

Several hours later, Jake awoke to find himself in the infirmary, with a freshly-bandaged shoulder. Even with all the bandaging (and no doubt all the morphine they injected into his system again), it still hurt like hell.

Ignoring Chester, he looked around.
Hell. He didn't want to stay here. He had seen this place plenty enough.

Preparing to get up, he only managed to throw the covers off and put his foot on the ground before a moon hunter came in and stopped him, speaking in rapid french or something. He only caught words like "non" and "très blessé" and oh god stop talking JUST LET HIM LEAVE.

He attempted to push past the hunter, but it seemed she would have none of it, and pressed a hand on his injured shoulder, which only prompted him to curse loudly and attempt to punch her in the face with his good arm.
All that ended up happening was that he was injected with a muscle relaxant and shoved back in bed. Great. Now he was numb AND useless.

... no. HELL NO. He was not staying here a moment longer.
<...Jake? What are you planning?>

Flexing his fingers a bit, he attempted to get feeling back into them as he looked around.
Ah, there it was.
Picking up the phone with his right hand, he flipped it open and scrolled to his most recent text, and began typing in a reply.

Quote:
You. Get me out of here.

He was was on the verge of unconsciousness when Solia had made it to him, but he had picked up some language she was shouting in, that sounded somewhat like French. And after that spar, he had decided she owed him. She got him in here, she would get him out.

She was miserable. She’d sent the poor guy to the Infirmary. She’d nearly killed him- Israfel was desperately trying to sooth her and Solia shuffled papers here and there. Moping. Little work was getting done as she was wracked with guilt. She hadn’t meant to do that. Not really. Knock him back but not- god she was the worst death hunter ever. The text had her perking back up. She could… she could do that. Just needed to. Yeah, she was good. She could do this.

Arriving at his room, the nurse insisted he stay for ‘testing’ but- No. Life lingered these halls. She knew the rumors. A small debate in French- She needed Jake as he had to report to one of the seniors about some very important files gone missing. Due to him. A lie. But it got her in now- “Okay so the story is that you took some files to sort and now they are due and no one can find them so we’re pulling you out to figure out where they went and some guys are pissed but yeah that is all I could think of please don’t hate me but we can go now. She still says you need rest though.”

He huffed when he finally saw Solia.
It was about time.

He only gave a bored look as he watched her speak with one of the hunters, but when the hunter walked away, he assumed he was able to leave now. FINALLY.

Solia's chattering only gave him a headache as he got up and pushed back her, making his way down the hall back to his own room. Something about files and people getting pissed off. He wasn't listening and he didn't really care.
