Camelot grinned triumphantly when she put out the cigarette, and he was, indeed, happy that she tossed it away. He knew, of course, that it did not mean she was done smoking forever but for this moment, he had won.
He'd take the small victories.
"I'm glad you find it so interesting, at least. To be honest, I don't wrap my head around this kind of stuff very often. I guess I have a habit of just accepting what is going on, and trying to deal with what is going to happen. I'm not sure."
Her change of topic made his amused and warm expression flicker, and he glanced away from a moment. Pain seemed to fill his eyes, but it was gone in a flash as he pushed those thoughts away.
"We should be careful, with how we approach purification. We don't want to be them, be like Chaos. They steal and destroy, and it ruins people who... we just need to be careful, in how we approach this kind of... my damsel?"
He frowned, then remembered the girl on the bus bench.
"Oh!" He scrambled over to her to check on her, but she seemed to be sleeping. He could see her breathing and nothing seemed to be bruising or showing any damage he hadn't seen her take, so he assumed she was fine. Out cold, maybe, but she'd wake in the morning. He didn't just want to leave her on the bench though.
"I should get her to the hospital..."

Zia looked dumbly confused when her excitement was contrasted by the weird look he shifted to. She wasn't astute enough to register it was pain, but she a least picked up it was negative.
"I... um..." She should probably say something. Actually she kind of knew what she wanted to say but the phrasing needed some thought. "Well corruption is funny, I guess, but it's avoidable if you just know what you're doing. Kind of. Sometimes it's tricky. I corrupted to protect someone I loved, but in the end we just destroyed ourselves," So maybe that wasn't her past, but there was no point in pretending it didn't feel like those were her memories, and her experiences.
She grinned a laughing smile when he went to go tend to his rescued lady and shrugged. "I guess all it comes down to is Chaos makes a lot of shiny promises. You just have to remember they aren't true!" She said in a light tone like they'd shifted the conversation to pizza toppings rather than life or death. And since he clearly had things to do and she found herself all the more inspired to finish out her patrol, she turned on her sneakers and ran in the other direction, waving back behind her and shouting, "Good luck with your damsel!"

Camelot looked at her, but he was not sure if he was able to take comfort from her words or not. He did not want Lina to destroy herself, nor did he want a hand in destroying her. Maybe he was being selfish, but he just wanted her back.
It was not just about failing her, about filling some hole her loss created. He knew she was controlled, her memories washed away. How could she live a life that was not hers? How could she really be happy?
At least his unconscious damsel was helping him refocus his mind away from these sad thoughts. It was strange that a woman who had passed out from fear was a comfort to him, but he was not going to let her know about that. Poor thing would likely not remember anything that had happened, and that was for the best.
It also distracted him from catching Zia before she ran off, however, and when he looked up in surprise she was already half way down the street with her hand in the air while he had been scooping the woman back up into his arms.
He smiled fondly and waved, nearly dropping the woman while doing so. He let out a light swear and managed to catch her before she hit pavement, awkwardly hauling her back up into a proper carrying position. He turned and walked off, toward the hospital.
