"Please. I'd love to get out of sight of this place for a while." He snorted, glad that his offer had worked. If he could just get her through the lessons then maybe things would be a little easier. She'd probably take to riding in a wing a lot better than she did lessons. Maybe she'd come around when it came to Mercy too. The rider didn't deserve such animosity. Z'fer was a little offended with how Hekate spoke of her. Even if Mercy wasn't exactly leading the next lesson he might get a chance to see how she interacted with the weyrlings. He couldn't bring himself to believe she was as bad as Hekate was making her out to be. After all, Malvren's weyrlings hadn't had a complaint about her.
Z'fer let her stroke his hand. That was another thing, he'd frankly had enough of the talk about him and Kindra. He'd wanted to get back at her, to spread rumors but now it just wasn't worth it. Calanoth had his gold, had his clutch coming and Z'fer would be fine just completely avoiding Kindra as much as possible. She wasn't Malvren's gold, she wasn't even Trine's. Unless her little pet Wingleader wanted to press the issue he'd leave them alone to sulk as much as they want. He'd made his point and he had Hekate. That would be enough.
"It should be interesting. This is supposed to help you decide which wing to join once you've graduated. Looks like you get to pick from all the wings, not just Trine's." He was glad for that. He'd much prefer her under his own watch than one of the too-young riders the other Weyrs offered.

"I don't really overly care too much which wing I'm in. I figured we'd get assigned to one like we do everything else and that would be that. I'll probably go to whichever one needs firepower the most and is lead by someone I can at least tolerate if not respect." Hekate replied with a sigh continuing to gently stroke the back of his hand before letting go to stroke his cheek with a small smile.
"Don't worry too much about this place or Kindra for that matter. Heck I half hope we take back Benden just to give Keller a taste of his own medicine and to get rid of her." She continued with a light laugh and a shake of her head. "You however need some rest."

"For the most part weyrlings choose their wings. Sometimes they're shuffled about if it doesn't work out but The whole point is for riders to feel comfortable with each other. You have to be able to trust your fellow riders." Which went back to the original point of a rider not going off and doing their own thing. He didn't mention it again though.
"Once that clutch is laid and hatched I won't have to deal with her any longer. Calanoth will forget about her gold and quit fussing like a dirty flit." If he'd known his dragon was going to turn into such a wimp he might have fought the urge to fly a little harder.
"And I don't need to rest. I was just resting." More he didn't want to rest. He wanted to get out there and hunt down G'drin...
~ Yes you do. You're keeping me up. ~
"Will you go out there and tell my dragon to shut up?"

"Hmm how about I tell you to hush in here?" Hekate purred rather suggestively as she lay back down grinning up at him. Reaching out she gently tugged him back down onto the bed with her careful he didn't land on his injured arm and curled up against his side.
"I'm sure Calanoth will shush once you're asleep. Sides him and Devith can fuss over the eggs together once they're laid and that'll keep him distracted." She replied with a chuckle at just imagining the two dragons fussing and fawning over the little eggs. Honestly the two of them would be intolerable until they hatched and probably even worse then with wanting to baby the hatchlings. It was almost a pity Devith couldn't fly in flights. Then again she doubted the Weyr could handle dragons of his stock.
Nestling her head against his good shoulder Hekate smiled sitting up slightly to kiss his cheek. "Rest a little Z'fer. You've earned it."
