Melvin all but lit up at the mention of spices, and pointed to the kitchen door at his right. "Kitchen is there. Check to see if they already did potatoes. If not, then they have plenty of pots to stir and things to chop. Take that and just see if they can slather the turkey they have in it. It's...really going to need a lot of help and I don't even cook." He had no idea how they would transform turkey pieces into something edible, but covering it in spices seemed like a great idea.
"Check with Ofelia. I just spotted her in there, or anyone else milling around. We've got a few cooks, but it's a lot of food." Sure, not great food but food nonetheless.

"Ha. I dunno, never built any furniture. Last Christmas I had to build a cage, though, because apparently welding's in the ******** division description. Hold this."
He moved around to free the other legs.
"And I'm unfolding them, not taking them off. ...Hey Melvin, you figure out how many people are coming yet?"

Wash nodded and made his way to the indicated door, ducking his head in.
"'Ey, Ofie, wasn't it? You need any help in 'ere?" He slipped the rest of the way in, smiling. Hadn't he met her before? He couldn't remember. "I hear you're the woman in charge, miss. Th' name's Wash - have we met?"
He sat the two canisters of pepper on the counter near her, looking for a free sink to wash his hands. "I ain't much of a cook, but I can peel any vegetable on God's green earth," he allowed solemnly. "Scout's honor." Holidays. He was already kind of excited. It was a touch heartwarming, to be in a kitchen cooking dinner for a big 'family' gathering.

Ofelia was on her fifth or six potato when the door opened and someone called her name. She turned to look, didn't recognize the person speaking (even after he gave his name) but none the less he got a huge smile from the teen and a motion to come over. "Howdy Wash, indeed Ah'm Ofie an' nope we haven' met but now we have. Grab a peeler an' get started on that bag over there - we're gonna make mashed potatoes first an' then maybe some scalloped potatoes." She said and pointed to one of the smaller bags, seeing as she had the largest open and was already going at it like a hamster on a running wheel.
Already her hands were going raw from touching the potatoes and, if Wash looked close enough at one of the potatoes set aside, he could see teeth mark in it. Someone was eating a raw potatoe because why the hell not. "Jus' leave the cookin' ta me an' we'll make an awesome team. Slide on up close, dun wanna get trimmin' stuff everywhere." She'd wait for him to wash his hands and then they'd rock and roll. "What kinda spices didja bring?" That was the next question, seeing as she saw him set the cans down out of the corner of her eye.

Melvin waved off Jerry's concern. "There is plenty. You should have seen the basement levels and massive freezers down there. You could hide a body and never find it for years. It's not like they are going to miss it. This place could feed a army several years over before they even think of stocking up." Though some of the things looked decades old. He'd dusted off a few things that he wasn't sure should even be edible anymore. Luckily the food he brought up looked recently packaged.
Looking over to Harrison, he tittered a gloved hand back and forth. "I'd sayyyy 20 for now. I think we're not getting a massive group." He sent some tweets out and felt at least 10 were coming, though that could double if they brought friends. "We can take chairs or add then in the end, but I'd round it to 20." He hoped he filled plenty of chairs.

He washed his hands and did as asked, moving up next to her and grabbing a peeler. He selected his first potato and set to work, making practiced motions as he sliced the skin off neatly. It brought him back, doing this. It was almost... cathartic.
"Tony's, and Slap Ya Mamma, jus' some creole and cajun stuff I'd been keepin' aside to make the food 'round here bearable. Didn't know what y'all were usin'." Wash didn't take his eyes away from the potatoes, but kept up the polite banter, relaxing and leaning into the counter comfortably.
"Mashed an' scalloped, eh? Sounds like we're in good hands. Aye aye, cap'n." He gave her a mock salute with the peeler.

"You had to build a cage. At Christmas?" he couldn't keep the surprise out of his voice. "I mean it's the island. I mean like, I know that s**t is crazy and whatever here but what the ******** were you capturing?"
His attention clearly wasn't on what he was holding, barely aware he was obeying - without actually realising it - whatever Harrison asked him to do.
Melvin got a look of vague bafflement as Rep slowly realised he wasn't even sure why he was here in the first place or what the hell 20 people could be coming here for. "Is it a mission?" he asked distantly.

Arrive with whatever task you were doing or just coming in for the first time to report in. If you wandered off, you can say your character was bringing in chairs or a few extra things from the pantries. Some people can also bring things from their private stash be it snacks or booze.
Melvin checked his phone, sending out a few text messages to check on a few people scattered about and seeing how they were doing while in the middle of running errands. It was good to get progress reports. It still felt like there was so much to do left. Good thing he had a clipboard.
Sasha had been in the labs when her phone chirped. She'd checked twitter, pursed her lips, and pushed away from the notes she'd been typing.
Food and booze sounded good. With any luck it would be a small event. A small, small, small gathering.
A woman could hope.
As she peered into the cafeteria, her eyes landed first on Jerry, then Rep.
Nope. Nope.
Sasha shuffled backwards, hopefully without drawing attention.

"Cajuuuunnnnn......" Ofelia practically stressed the word as she said it, her face lighting up as she turned to look at Wash. "Ah've never used cajun spices in mah cookin' b'for so ya've given me a challenge ta use 'em an' man this is exciting." They could use spices on anything end everything, or at least that was the plan that ran through Ofelia's mind, and the teen abandoned her peeling duty to go over and look at the cans set aside. Basic good ingredients, still very much up to date, and smelling so divine she wanted to sprinkle some on her finger to taste test.
She didn't though because she was in the middle of cooking and what have you.
"Ya think these would be good on the canned turkey? Never hurts ta add some kickin' flavor ta plain turkey, as far as Ah can tell." How. . .did they eat turkey back home? Ofelia didn't really have Thanksgiving, this was likely her first one outside of when a teacher or someone invited her to their home for a meal, so she was just thinking way outside of the box. "The question is though how many people can eat spicy stuff. Do ya got an idea'a who all is here? Didja see anyone when ya came in?"
It really didn't matter because ******** portion control, Ofelia just over made everything.

Melvin was checking his phone when he noticed someone by the door, thinking it was someone coming back from one of the many things being done to get this room in order and the food ready. Instead, he noticed a Lifer he hadn't spoken with today regarding Operation: Turkey Day.
Already she was backing up, and he slipped past Jerry a moment. "Sasha. Hellooo. I was wondering when you'd show up." He hadn't even thought she'd show up at all, but now that she was here, he'd put her to use.

"Hunters dressed as evil...menacing...terrifying reindeer~!" Candace pounced Harrison from behind after answering the question she heard Rep asking as she walked in, throwing her arms around his neck and hanging from her friend's back and her cheek nuzzled against the side of his head. So Melvin got his Thanksgiving dinner to happen! Good, good. She was glad.
"It was a mission, we had to capture terrible monsters." She kissed Harrison's temple and released the man, settling on her own two feet and looking around. "Good job, Melvin! And you were worried it would be impossible with no portals~."
Sasha froze briefly, deer in the headlights style. She gave a forlorn look over her shoulder in the direction of the doors before her shoulders fell forward.
She could just avoid everyone. Part of her wished that Wash was here, and she shifted uneasily on her feet. Sasha cleared her throat.
"Melvin," her gaze flicked towards Candace. Oh, this was just going to be <******** fantastic.
Sasha pinched the bridge of her nose before clearing her throat again, sounding resigned.
"Where do you need me."

"I reckon so," he replied, glancing over at her as he peeled. "We always used it on ours. 'Course, we fried ours, an' had the whole bird." Canned turkey? That... well. That was unfortunate. "I'd use one or th' other though, if I was you - Slap Ya Momma is the spicier one if you're worried. S'good on potatos, though."
"Maybe...if you bake it in the oven, it'll dry it out some?" His brow furrowed. "Canned turkey," he muttered to himself. Whatever - they could make do.
"Oh, well, so far there's that Rep character, an' I think...A blonde, I forget his name, Jerry, Melvin o'course, and I dunno who else but they seem to be settin' a lot 'o tables."

He waved to Candace when he saw her, still hanging near Sasha to make sure she didn't flee to the labs. "It would have been better with portals but I did what I could. Thanks for mentioning the pantries by the way." Now the cooks just had to work their magic from the supplies they had on them. He still would have liked to bring an actual turkey and ham, but they were beggars who couldn't choose at this point. Not for now anyways.
