Rakshasas rolled his eyes. Respect? For the thing that had birthed his siblings and himself and called itself mother. Bah. He looked to his female comrade and then back to his sister. "She would have done us all a favor. Then perhaps she would have been punished and her cub napping days would be over..." He said simply. He then sighed; as his sister had a point. He looked to the dark lioness beside him and nodded. "She is right... I must present you to my father..." He didn't say that part like he was to fond of his sperm donor either.

He had always had a bit of resentment at not being recognized as the heirs to the throne; as it should be in his eyes. He tossed his glance at the piebald lion; he didn't like that fellow much more than his mother. Hearing calavera's taunting words; he smiled a bit.

Suuluu simply gazed at the female that was the pink ones sister and sort of brushed off her words... "I am sure he will want first blood... but he hasn't been the first and he won't be the last..." She said simply, shrugging her shoulders. She cast a glance over at all the cubs... was this pride exceptionally fertile? She looked at Rakshasas and gave him a nod before heading in the direction of them... "So many little ones..." She said simply, a note in her voice spoke of compassion for children. She ignored the piebald lion and noticed the black boy; whom was awake and lowered herself to his level; to look upon him. "Greetings little one... the night blessed you with a dark coat; just as it blessed me as well..." She said softly.

Her expression stark under her white mask, the smaller female shoved her way rudely between the piebald male and the cubs, physically shoving at him as she stood over the small body.

"Oh, they'll get their education alright, but not from you." She snarled, finally snapping at him. "Your role is not cub-beater, Toshiro. You are a hunter, so I suggest you go and do your job. Or better yet, go make yourself useful for once and patrol the borders with the Necros. There is an ill wind blowing through the trees tonight.. Something is in motion that not even I can read, but maybe you'll blunder across something."

The female challenged him with glaring, pale eyes, daring him to use force against her. She was the Vervartae! Even the king bowed to her knowledge and experience, despite her young age.

Ammemet made a tch sound as her mouth curled in a sneer, but she let her brother go with no comment. It wasn't worth fighting with him, and she was always aware of her limits... get too angry, too involved in the fight, and she risked the demon breaking free. And that was something no one wanted to see, especially not with cubs in striking distance.

Cowed by the thought, she laid her ears back, flicked her tail, and slunk out of their way. Her lavender eyes burned with her thoughts as she circled around to where the cubs were, giving Toshiro and Calavera an assessing glance when they came into view.

Was the black and white male mad? Defying the vervartae was nearly as deadly as stepping out into the sun... and she needed no defense from the red female. Silently, Ammemet counted the cubs, checking to see if any new ones had been added. It looked like nothing new had come in since that spotted one and she thanked the goddess for that.

She could not deny that the infusion of new blood would do wonders for the pride, but it made her nervous whenever her mother returned from the day-lit lands. What if something followed her? Their pride was a reclusive one for a reason... they did not have the strength currently to outright defend themselves.

Alucard scowled daggers as he was shoved up to all fours once more. It seemed pointless- where was he supposed to go? The piebald lion wasn’t giving him directions, only empty demands and rough, cruel nudges and bumps. Sunshines and rainbows indeed…the cub’s scowl darkened and his jaw tightened. The male assumed too much… he had half a mind to n** at his toes but the cub wasn’t stupid. Those paws were the size of his body and one good swat could end his short life then and there.

The hostility melted from his eyes as a female ducked low and spoke in a soft voice. Confusion and something a little warmer sparked in his eyes. He lowered his ears and glanced to his pelt, black and sleek. It was a blessing… he could hide most times. However, his captor hadn’t had too much trouble finding him either.

Unsure what else to say, he forced a smile and ducked his head into a nod. His mouth opened, but whatever he was about to say died as yet another female stood between himself and the piebald bully. Alucard bit back a smirk at the older male‘s expense and slowly stepped back into the female‘s shadow.

Kirkis lowered his ears and slowly took a few more steps, straining to hear over the distance between himself and the hostiles. They were speaking a little louder, and with more hostility. A small part of him feared for the safety of the cubs as the air grew more tense and the lions seemed to bicker amongst themselves. He was surprised to hear, and observe, some of the females defending the cubs.

…still. Hearing the earlier discussion about ‘first blood‘ made his gut turn. Were the little ones to be blood bags for these lions? He didn‘t need any further confirmation. This was the right pride, and it appeared they were taking cubs for themselves.

He took a step back, rustling the grass a little more than he meant to. Biting his lip, he hissed low, signaling his companion that it was time to make a retreat. Best get the information back to their leader than get themselves caught here.

Vaan heard the signal and shifted his eyes over to his recon leader's position. Kirkis was being too loud...he was perhaps letting his emotions get to him. Not good in a situation as deadly as this one was. Vaan gave a nod to show he understood then made a subtle movement with his paw, signaling for Kirkis to retreat on his own. He wanted just a little more information and, thus far, his position was the most secure. Anything, absolutely anything, could turn the situation in their favor.

Kirkis nodded his understanding and shifted again to prowl back. Vaan looked forward, returning his attention on the scene below and stalked forward.

Bleeding... first blood. At least they were in the right place.
