The queen apparently didn't like this and shrieked loud enough to send Mort staggering back again. Well, he /was/ almost directly in front of her. And better him than Bells, right?

A kiss?! In the middle of battle!? Calloh! Callay! How lucky could one ghoul get? More than enough to distract the witch for a bit, she could only stare after Mort in a fashion that bespoke her deep and utter adoration for him. His first attack won him an excited clap, but his second one got him a startled noise as he took the brunt of the attack. Belladonna surged forward to place a hand at his back, just to help steady him even a little, while she tossed out a card with the other. "Almost done! Just hold on a little bit longer, love." She told Mort in a bracing, cheerful voice. But if he were being very clever, he would realize she was partially speaking to herself. Battle Stats HP: 10/50 Damage: 12 Queen HP: 11

"Mrrr, g-go away!" he yelled with frustration as he sent anoher few bolts the queen's way. The screeching was still an awful dagger in his ear, but when he felt the witch's hand support him it was just enough to make him keep standing. He tossed her a backwards glance and a nod. "Right..."
Well at least it was getting dramatic! Bells loved this sort of stuff.

With her hand against him, and her strength slowly leaving her, Belladonna decided it would be alright just to keep it there. You know, to support Mort! And to keep herself from falling over... She drew in a deep breath and kept her hand pressed against Mort, but with her free hand snatched a group of cards out of the air. Her strength was failing, the next hit from the Queen would surely undo the witch and time was of the essence. It was now, or never. "Your reign is over! I think you need a taste of your own medicine, so. Off with your head!" The witch shouted as her battle cry as she tossed the cards over. Naturally it would be Alice's cards that undid the evil Queen, for they sliced into the creature and demolished her. It was honestly quite a brutal attack, but Belladonna was tired and angry and she wanted cuddles with her Brave Mad Hatter. With a sigh and a slight fall forward so that she had her face pressed against Mort's back, she finally let out a tiny laugh. "Alice and Hatter save the day again!" She feebly cheered, quite ready for a sit down now. Battle Stats HP: 4/50 Damage: 18 Queen HP: DEAD

Mort felt his strength starting to wane, but Bells looked far worse. He was about to try and launch another attack when she raised her hand and sent practically the whole deck at the queen. Mort stared as they tore her to pieces, the head being the last to come off and roll before it all vanished into shadowy nothingness. No more screaming from the little tyrant! A moment later he had the mind to laugh and turn to face his ghoul, whooping with a fist in the air.
"Fantastic! Hah, knew my Alice c-could do it!" And as the walls melted to reveal blurred crowds cheering for their success, Mort pulled her from her tired feet into well-deserved kiss, for frankly he would have been knocked out quickly without her help. The crowd's shouts seem to swell at this as they praised the death of the tyrant, egging him on with their whistles and sighs as the throng gathered and seemingly nudged them along the gilded path lined with triumphant horns -
- and before they knew it, they were quite alone and at the top of a hill. But Mort didn't mind that the music was gone and the whole thing was an illusion, because the ghoul in his arms was quite real. "Mrrr. Wasn't kidding when said was powerful witch, huh?" he murmured after pulling away and setting her back down. "Defeated a queen! How's it feel?"

Overkill would normally have seemed an appropriate word for what it was the witch had done to the Queen, but given how pesky that particular monarch had been, it felt justified. When the head finally rolled off and burst into shadows, the witch heaved a heavy sigh and almost let herself fall backwards. The loud noise from Mort had her straightening back up and the sudden appearance of a crowd definitely was cause for distraction. Ever one to play up a scene when it was presented to her, Belladonna raised one hand to wave at them but found her whole self being raised. A small note of surprise was all she managed before Mort pressed a kiss to her.
Even if she was tired and run down from a fight, there was no way the witch would pass up an opportunity such as this. Both arms wrapped around him as he held her up and she melted against him. The noise of the crowd around them echoed in her ears, but was mostly ignored for the zombie who held her close.
It ended far too quickly, but more than content nonetheless, Belladonna was set back down on the ground only to find they'd lost their now free from tyranny crowd.
"I suppose not." The witch beamed up at him as her feet found the ground once more. She took his hand and looked around, searching for how to get back to the party. "It feels like I couldn't have done it without you. So thank you, darkling." Belladonna added with a quick rise onto her toes to press a kiss to his cheek.
"Alright! With that horrid Queen gone, let's go celebrate!"
Just... Er.... How did they get back??

"Nah, just saying that~ But /did/ try, yes, like good knight o-or Hatter," Mort replied with a smile that tried to ignore how much he had derped, or how the damage he had contributed paled in comparison. He really did seem to have wavering performance issues when Belladonna was involved.
He took her hand and gestured with his head in a random direction. "Will find party eventually, right? And will take it slow s-since we're tired. Lemme know if need to carry." And with a light tug Mort began to lead them to Jack knew where.
