Cynthia looked a little surprised when Naveen explained to her what that creature was and what it could do. She couldn't believe something so small could potentially make someone so nervous about being around it.
"Is the smell it sprays permanent and is it deadly?"Cynthia asked.

"No, it's not permanent, though it can last quite a while. And no, it's not deadly," Naveen replied, glancing at the creature. "But it's quite the stench and I'd rather not have to deal with the problems that would come with being sprayed right now."

Cynthia nodded her head in understanding, glad it wasn't permanent or deadly. She did, however, wonder what problems would ensue if they had been sprayed by the creature.
"I do not want to know the issues that happen because of being sprayed, do I?"Cynthia questioned.

"That depends. I can tell you, but I'm not sure you'd like the mental picture." Naveen's gaze had gone to their surroundings again. "See any more purple?"

Cynthia knew she did not want to know about the problems with being sprayed by a skunk now. Fortunately, Naveen provided a needed distraction with his question and she went back to looking for anything purple. She walked to a better vantage point, then began to scan the area.
"There appears to be something under that pile of leaves,"Cynthia noted.

"Does it have a stripe?" Naveen asked as he moved to join her. "Skunks have a white stripe running from their head all the way down their tails."

Cynthia cautiously inched closer to the purple creature, so she could get a better look. She looked down, trying to see if it had a white stripe or not.
"No, it does not appear to have a stripe like the skunk had. Could this be what we are looking for?"Cynthia asked.

"Possibly." Naveen joined her, carefully nudging some of the leaves away so they could get a better look.

Cynthia watched as Naveen pushed some leaves out of the way and she went to get a better look.
"It looks to be about the right size of the one you have and the right shade of purple too,"Cynthia noted.

Naveen inspected the creature himself before nodding. "This is a badger," he confirmed. He glanced over his shoulder to where the other purple badger was. "If at all possible, I'd rather not take the pregnant one." But he didn't see any other badgers... The one Cynthia had pointed out was a male; were they a family?

"Yes, I would prefer we do not have to take the pregnant one myself, but we may not have a choice. They seem to be pretty rare in this area,"Cynthia replied, walking over to the female and nuzzling her.

Naveen nodded. "... I think they're the last ones left out here," he said softly. There were badgers of other colors everywhere, but the purple ones... He sincerely hoped they weren't just being eaten.

"I wish we could take them with us, but we did make a deal with that dragon,"she sighed. She nuzzled the female more, hoping so much that it was not going to be eaten.

"Yeah..." Naveen pulled the lid off of his cart and began putting some grass and plants into the bottom to make a layer of bedding for the badgers. Then he carefully picked up the male and put him into the cart, followed by the female. It seemed his hunch about them being a family was right; the male had curled protectively around the female immediately after she was placed inside. He sighed as he replaced the lid. "... Let's head back up."
