(tagging Carltis)
Becka wasn't interested in speeches, she hadn't really wanted to come but Bereck had urged her to go, to come back and tell him about it later since he was still bed bound. So Becka had found some clothing that was somewhat nice looking and had tied her hair back but only a little, letting strands drift around her face in a lovely way. If she was going to do this, well she was going to make herself look pretty if she was going to have to socialise.
What she did and what Bereck had wanted her to do were two different things, she drifted about but didn't really socialise, just moved, glancing at the prettier girls with slight jealousy, especially those with nice things .. they were obviously from Trine originally, she HAD no nice things, they'd been left behind. She refused the alcoholic drinks, that was something she had no interest in, alcohol clouded the mind and a Healer couldn't afford a foggy brain, who knew when there would be an emergency, with this many people you never knew who could get hurt.
She was so busy trying to avoid people that she didn't notice a familiar face getting closer until she'd actually bumped into him. She mumbled an apology without even looking up, just tried to sidestep him, she was small enough that it was easy unless he stopped her for some reason.

[Rochelle - harassing Carltis and apparently Becka. Dun dun dun!]
Two pants and three shirts sounded about right. She waited for the next thunderstorm with metal poles at the ready - to fry the sand and see if it worked as well as she'd seen depicted in some scrolls at the halls. There had been some pieces crafters claimed came from it but even a believer sometimes had doubts.
She cheered at Hekate and the speech, pumping her fist in the air because hells yeah, the chick was awesome and it was time to cheer for her - an atypical female rider, giving speeches about things that mattered? Rock on!
And to make things even better, Rochelle spotted another one of her friends (Hekate counted, whether the silverrider knew and/or approved or not) in the form of the grumpy studly Carltis. Unlike him, she shoved herself through the mess of people to be at his elbow.
The glasscrafter leaned, her chest pressing against his arm, she spoke just loud enough to be heard. "What's a guy like you doin' in a crowd like this? Nice shoes!"
Alas, though, they were in public. Otherwise, that joke would have been finished.
... even better. Becka. The joking mood faded instantly, Rochelle's mouth curling into a rather unattractive snarl (unless that was your cup of sexy). "Pushing people around still?" Oh yes. Flat. Angry. And death in her eyes.

[Carltis - Tag Becka, tag Rochelle]
"Oh, it's you," Carltis said as Rochelle attached herself to his arm but he smiled as he spoke and his tones were light, as light as his deep sharp voice ever got anyway.
At almost the same moment he greeted his friend however somebody bumped into him; the smile died quickly and a frown took its place. "Hey," he snapped, voice cracking like a whip, "watch where you're...."
Rochelle had spoken too. He registered what she had said, and then he registered who had run into him. It was Becka. Personally he couldn't say he felt any more animosity towards her than he did the average person, perhaps a little less even. She had sewn his face up after all, and the scar he was left with certainly added to his street cred. Rochelle though... Rochelle was clearly not happy.
Carltis tightened the arm Rochelle was wrapped around against his torso slightly, silently hoping that the glasscrafter wasn't going to explode.... And since when was he the one hoping somebody else wouldn't do something rash? The world really had been turned upside-down.
To Becka he said nothing but he did look at her again and his expression wassn't hostile... well not anymore than his face naturally looked, especially since acquiring the scar.

Becka squeaked when an oh-so-familiar voice....two... rang out at her, she looked up then quickly away "S...sorry i didn't m..mean to bump you" she trembled, she was afraid of Rochelle, so far she'd managed to avoid her but today was not Becka's day. "I...i'm glad your scar healed well" she said to Carlltis before attempting to get away from the pair, the way Rochelle held herself against Carltis made her feel terribly unwanted, even if she hadn't given her a stare that could have dropped a Wherry from a tree.
She really was pleased with how well Carltis' wound had healed, sure it was a rather bit scar but the way he'd been slashed hadn't really given her much to make a neat one with, that and she'd been exhuasted and trembling from the work on Bereck and the stress of that day, of having been the only one doing ANY Healing until other apprentices and Healers had been located. She'd ended up being awake for two days before almost passing out and being forced to sleep after that day.
Her stomach churned, she really wanted to be away from Rochelle, she'd tried SO hard to avoid her... so shaffing hard... she just wanted to melt away into the crowd and get lost... perhaps run to the ...no she couldn't return to where Bereck was, perhaps she could go find Berath and ask her not to tell Bereck she hadn't stayed at the celebration.

[Rochelle, tag to Carltis and Becka]
...did that little wretch just ignore her?
Someone had been taught that ignoring bullies would make them leave you alone. Obviously whoever first made this rule up had never been in a fight. Carltis' unspoken warning did not go unnoticed or unheeded; her hands tightened on him and she moved a bit closer to use him as a buffer.
Becka was Berecks apprentice.
She saved their lives. Carltis and Bereck, anyway.
She'd also been a pushing, slapping, snarky creature when not paying attention to the male gender or to those of higher rank.
Rochelle bristled, her voice lowering to a bit of a snarl. "And once more ignoring me. Fabulous. So. Here's the thing: leave. The only reason I'm not clawing your eyes out and beating your face into a bloody sharding lump on the ground is because I'm a Candidate and hitting twenty one in a Turn. This is my last hurrah. But if you don't step the sharding wherrieshit away right now, I will rethink my position on how much I want a bondmate or a wingleader position."
Her hands tightened more, nearly white at the knuckles. "Go. Away."

Adi
"La, quit that! That's mine!" Adi switched her cup of wine from one hand to the other and flicked her gold firelizard on the nose. "You don't want this, trust me." Flits and alcohol would almost certainly be a terrible combination, and she wasn't sure she wanted to find out exactly what would result. Despite La's projected feelings of want and sadness, she wasn't going to share. She sent back an image of Mazamath with the suggestion of go, but the flit merely turned up her nose.
"Fine, but if you're going to stay, you're going to behave," the bluerider mumbled. "Come on, then. Let's go find some friends!"
What good was a party without company?

[Carltis - Tag Becka, tag Rochelle]
She was all floppy again. There'd been a couple of moments in the infirmary when she'd shown a bit of fire... and of course those were the moments that Rochelle hated her for. Tough break for Becka, who was trying to beat a hasty retreat.
He hadn't expected Rochelle to let her go with nothing said at all, but the potency of the venom that spewed from her lips was really quite something. Carltis looked down at her, wondering if something really unforgivable had been done while he was over guarding the door, or outside getting his face slashed open. Her grip on his arm had become vice-like; he gave her another subtle squeeze trying to say... something. He didn't know what. So long as she didn't take it as 'go rip her a new one' though he supposed it didn't matter that much.

Hekate Tag Z'fer, Tag Kleos, Tag Velath
Hekate flushed slightly when Z'fer called her by the title the Weyrwoman had used and felt oddly pleased not to be referred to as a Weyrling. It always made whatever you did or say sound insignificant like being called a child. However soon enough she'd see to it that she wasn't a Weyrling anymore no matter how long it took. "I'd love to Wingleader Z'fer and of course no alcohol." She agree with a grin taking his offered arm and linking her own with it. "Though after that I should probably at least attempt to go and mingle." Hekate added with a slight frown. She'd never been terribly fond of being stuck in a crowd as it tended to make her claustrophobic, but hopefully perhaps the ribbon would earn her at least a little space tonight.
However before the two of them could make their way over to the tables much to Hekate's surprise and delight they were approached by Malvren's second wingleader. "Thank you Wingleader Kleos." Hekate replied her cheeks flushing slightly in pleasure to be congratulated by one of the women she looked up too. Ice even got two answering cheeps of greeting as well as Baron Hekate's brown and Prince her silver betweened above the ground. Baron circled to land little brown chest puffed out on her shoulder like a proud little miniature watch dragon at his post. Prince however simply curled and draped himself about his owners neck like a large silver gorget eyeing the little blue with interest.
When am I ever not being stared at Courath? Devith asked in amusement but turned to look where his green sibling had pointed only to spot Velath. She was a rather pretty green and he ducked his head in greeting offering a cheerful thrum.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Meroc Tag any pretty ladies <3
Meroc was having a good time. A rather exceptionally good time one might add. The speech had been fine. . .not harper material for sure, but surprising all the same for someone untrained. On top of that there was wine, pretty women, and good food so life was looking up a bit. Leaning back against the table he sat at he eyed the crowd nodding a greeting some of the kitchen workers he recognized as he sipped his drink. It was just fruit juice sadly what with the Weyr not even liking candidates to drink. . .of course that might not be enough to stop him from switching his juice for wine when no one was looking later on. For now though he was content to relax and enjoy the show.
--------------------------------------
Parties and get togethers like this often reminded Niyx of the crowds her father's roaming band of harpers had once drawn at Hold's and halls where they would stop to preform. All that was really needed was a bit of music and maybe some dancing which with the way wine was flowing she had no doubt would come later on. Eyeing the crowd with a small smile on her lips and laughter in her eyes the young candidate couldn't help, but enjoy herself. Today she had pulled out her best. . .or what was left of it. The bright reds and blues of her clothing making her stand out in the crowd with her odd dress looking more like a performer then a candidate in her clothes as she gently fingered the slightly battered brass goggles that hung around her neck. It was a familiar habit of hers. One she took to doing whenever she was thinking.

Becka had been trying to move away but the crowd held her, her heart felt like it was about to burst from her chest despite her logical mind telling her that it was impossible. "S...sorry i didn't .... just trying to..." she didn't know what to say to Rochelle, she hadn't MEANT to ignore her it was just, Rochelle hadn't really asked her anything, hadn't given her a reason to reply to her, that and the angry look in the woman's eyes intimidated Becka, she wasn't in the Infirmary anymore, without the backdrop of the stress making her snappish like she had been back then.
"I..good luck on the Sands" she said, trying to be nice, to placate her, something to direct this anger towards her... away. "I hope....your dragon is there" she mumbled, turned her back and trying to squirm her way away from them. Shells... first Rochelle has cozied up to Aleck in the Infirmary, now Carltis here.. jealousy flared just a little, how did someone so ... NASTY manage to have the boys fawning over her... it wasn't fair. She blinked one small tear away as she tried to escape the hatred that was almost tangible and directed at her.

[Rochelle for Becka and Carltis]
Rochelle had plans to keep Carltis and Aleck all for herself, two weyrmates. One huge tent. Something like that. (Except not really.) Still, had she not been picturing Beckas timely demise and had known about that little stray thought, Rochelle probably would have laughed.
Instead, she tried to grab at Becka, body lurching against Carltis. Thankfully for the little healer, how she held onto Carltis kept her hands from pulling free to reach out and strangle her, so tightly were they pressed up against his ribs and arm. "What, you're only sad and the victim when someone calls you out? Someone is nice, you hit them. They're being nice to someone else, you push and then you get upset like it's their fault? Screw you, deadglow."
And she jerked again to no avail - damn that tight hold - but by then Becka had started to turn away. She'd said if Becka left, she wouldn't try to beat her face in. Becka had started to leave so Rochelle stopped trying to get her hands back, all but growling as she slumped against Carltis and muttered something rather foul.

[F'itz - Tag Adi]
He had been quite happy to stay where he was, but apparently Cinder had other ideas; the black lofted off his shoulder and set off through the crowd with a feeling of 'pretty!' F'itz sighed and followed; his pet might not have any interest in mating, but he certainly liked to ogle and croon at the ladies nevertheless.
Before too long he discovered the small firelizard orbiting a girl with a gold firelizard. "Sorry," the grey-haired rider gave a polite half-bow of greeting, "he's not bothering you is he? I can call him off if he is."
------------------
[Carltis - Tag Becka, tag Rochelle]
Carltis watched the healer scurry away, clamping his arm tighter against his body as he felt Rochelle try to lunge. Sharding wher-cocks, what had he missed between them? Rochelle semi-explained (loudly, with murder in her voice) but he resolved to try to find out more later... when he wasn't busy preventing grievous bodily harm to Becka, and Rochelle getting banned from standing....
A wingleader. Rochelle had said she wanted to be a wingleader. He wanted that... their chances at getting the right bondmate were equal; silver or crimson. He hoped they were both in luck, it would be pretty depressing if one of them could chase their dream while the other was held back by the hue of their dragon.

N'mol (Tag to Kindra and Roscoe)
N'mol turned at the clapped shoulder and grinned as he reached out to shake Roscoe's hand. "Roscoe, sorry, things have been busy. Excuse us." The last was said to the man he'd been speaking to, who took the hint and left with a bit of well-wishing. "How are you holding up? I haven't seen you since they let you out of the infirmary."
A flash drew N'mol's eye past Roscoe to the Gold flit arcing through the air above the festivities. It reminded him that while he didn't want to step on Kindra's toes he might have to if he expected to keep a strong image for Benden-- and help Kindra keep her own reputation in tact.
He almost sighed, but restrained himself. Tyeth, please ask Suunath to remind Kindra that this is a major event for the Weyr and that all the other Weyrwomen are in attendance. If Suunath says that Kindra is unmoved, ask her to then relay that while hiding in her weyr might seem the easier path that she still has duties to attend to and her cowardice will have to wait.
If she wasn't going to come out herself, then he would just have to summon her, because he certainly wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of going after her himself. She was being ridiculous and for some reason, at that moment, it irritated him. Maybe it was the sight of Z'fer easily schmoozing the general populace at Hekate's side, careless of the emotional turmoil he knew Kindra was going through.
"Another Benden-bred Hatching coming up. Good luck on the Sands." He was sure his friend would Stand and he had hopes that he would Impress as well. N'mol had been told that Weyrlings at Trine could apply to any Wing they wished, but N'mol knew that if Rosoce Impressed soon that he would be a steady rider for his wing. And, unless he missed his guess, one with a dragon of status-- Brown or Bronze, most definitely.
Tanya (Tag to M'lan)
The fact that he had forgotten her name didn't seem to bother Tanya. In fact, it didn't! She was just some kitchen girl to him, and she had been shuffled around enough in both Weyrs to know that few riders remembered names unless you impacted their lives frequently. That was to be expected and she certainly didn't blame the handsome rider for that. She knew him, naturally, but that was different.
"Oh, that's all right! You riders have so much to do all of the time, and me being new and all, it isn't surprising. I'm Tanya, from Malvren, and you're welcome. Is everything all right, Brownrider M'lan?"
She released the drink into his care and set about pouring another, still cheerfully chatting away. "I mean, you seem distracted and not in a happy way, when this is supposed to be a happy occasion of sorts. Getting the Weyr pulled together and everything." She looked up at him with concern. "Is something wrong?"
Kala and Talakor (Tag to Felix)
A pair of Journeymen Dolphineers were wandering the fesitivities as well. Tal and Kala were rarely apart these days, since they had their dolphin partners now and things had gotten so muddled in the move to Trine and now in the recent start of the half-finished Dolphin Hall. Dolphineers homes were still going up, but they'd taken a break from that for now to applaud the Trine Weyrling for her extraordinary efforts in helping with gathering materials and what not. Neither of them begrudged her that-- Kala because she thought people should be acknowledged when they did something good and Tal because he just didn't care.
"I think I see Felix," Talakor announced. He hadn't had a chance to talk much with their fellow Journeyman Dolphineer, but he stood out in a crowd-- literally. "Talking to the dark-skinned fellow over there. Should we go say hello?"
Kala glanced back at Talakor to see where he was pointing and followed the line of his finger until she spied their fellow. "He looks like he's already engaged, but I'm sure he won't mind us at least saying hello. We all need to get to know one another better, after all, and he did choose the same way we did." She began pushing her way through the crowd with several 'excuse me's, heading in as straight a line as she could for their classmate.

Becka clenched her fists, she would NOT cry. She wanted to respond to Rochelle, to explain but... she could tell from the vemon directed at her retreating form that Rochelle wasn't going to listen, she believed what she believed and no amount of explaining was going to change that, plus Becka had no need of excuses, she'd apologised for slapping Rochelle immediately, sure she'd nudged Rochelle from Carltis but she had been the only Healer there. Had it been someone older... a proper Healer, Becka wondered if Rochelle would have threatened to 'end' them too.
Instead she kept going, fighting the urge to cry, Rochelle hated her with such FORCE and she couldn't understand it, she'd seen people HURT each other and not hate the other as much as Rochelle seemed to hate Becka, She left the crowd of people and fought her way to the only familiar figure she wanted to be around right now, there was no mistaking the bulky form of Berath and she made straight for the Green and clung to her. "Berath.... you don't hate me do you?" she asked, the fight not to cry had been lost somewhere along the way as tearstains coursed down her cheeks "I ...i don't know why she hates me so much"

Adi Tag F'itz
The appearance of another firelizard quickly caught her attention. Why look, it was a little black! She had a soft spot for the atypical flits, most likely because they started out so small and helpless and needed so much doting on, and Adi very much liked to dote on things. While La sat up on her shoulder and trilled a greeting, the young woman giggled and offered her own "Hello there!"
Their guest was soon followed by his owner, whom Adi welcomed with a bright smile. "Hi! No, he's not bothering us at all. He's adorable."

Well, there was certainly a lot of people who showed up for this. Aislin couldn't help the grin that seemed permanently attached to her face. "I knew those two had been busy, so I suppose this isn't all too surprising." She murmured to herself, quite proud of the silver and his rider, even if they hadn't spent much time together. There's so many people! Loveth could think of where to begin. Her bondmate had dragged them both out here for the celebration because she knew that she'd missed being with her clutchmates but...there were so many! She didn't know where to start!
A chuckle came from the red-head and she affectionately patted the side of the pale crimson. "Why don't you start by congratulating the guests of honor. Seems the best place to start." Oh right! Aislin had to bite back another chuckle. She swore since the moment they had arrived it was like Loveth was bouncing around. Well if she was smaller she probably would be. "However, do try to stay back here, love. I wouldn't want you accidentally running someone over or hitting anyone with your tail."
Loveth tilted her head as if considering the possibilities before seeming to agree with her rider. I will stay. But you must go and say hello to everyone for me. Sapphire eyes blinked as she was suddenly thrust towards the crowd by a well-timed headbutt. Aislin was apparently a horrible influence, the pale crimson was certainly getting crafty at times. 'Fine, fine. No need to get so pushy, hm?' Her only response was the amusement that echoed through their bond. Tsk, she was a horrible influence.
Slipping through the crowd, she let her eyes wonder. Just what to do first...it seemed like there were so many...strangers around. Which there was, but...a few familiar faces did pop up now and then. Let's see...the first place to start would have been Hekate, but she seemed engaged already. Wellll, she could find someone else to 'socialize' with and just congratulate her later on. With that decided, Aislin turned and....oh..was that food? Yep. That's where she was headed.
