Rin braced herself as she took the brunt of his attack. It was far... more than she was expecting. She looked startled - but quickly shook it off. He was a sun. Powerful hits are what they do. Still...

Rin swept out with Byr with a flourish before attempting to move closer to him. Rep had trouble swinging close range last time, perhaps...

Rep was sick of people trying to use his range weakness against him, more and more people were becoming aware of the deadzone of the axe, the place where handle had no blade, where getting up close and personal to Rep flustered him and threw him off balance.

"No you ******** don't." he snarled as Rin got close, leaping back and bringing the axe down on her with the part that very much had blade attached.

Rin thought she knew what she was doing. She thought wrong.

She didn't even know for certain what ******** train hit her - just that she was hit hard enough that Byr gave a pained yelp in her mind and she herself was knocked hard to the ground. As soon as enough sense returned to her she was up again and swinging, "G-god, I ******** do!"

Her heart was pounding with adrenaline as she attempted to go in again and hack at his shield with Byr along the way.

As she went down, his first instinct was to leap, to finish the spar, pin her and make her surrender. But it was irrational, she had to have a lot more shield to give, it was always hard to remember that hunters weren't normal people, that when you fought others like you, you had to treat them like monsters, invincible until you pulled down their defenses and could really make them feel the pain you had to dish out to them.

His next swing was glancing, a mere effort to put distance between them both as the final infusion of fear made Tracey light up all along his length. The flood of energy and adrenaline for hitting the chargepoint was like a drug, it was what made sparring so ******** sweet.

Rin failed again to evade the way she used to. Only barely managing to graze him as she moved to try and get behind him. Byr's runes offered a soft green against the bright terrifying red of Tracey's glow.

A smirk gently curled across Rin's features. She gave every outward appearance of a calm collected fighter... but inside terror was gripping her heart and turned her blood cold. Inside, she was terrified. Tracey was ready to go too and part of her wondered if she could handle it anymore.

Rep on the other hand was on the edge of something dark and massive. He wasn't sure if it was Rin's fear that just fed Tracey more than usual, if it was some culmination of worthlessness over the last few days, losing to Candace, struggling so hard with finding his way through the labyrinth with Harrison. He'd felt calm and hollow, void of direction, void of momentum. Rin was just unfortunate to be there, to be in his way when the resentment and quiet dissatisfaction came to a head.

He gave himself over to the charge. He closed his eyes and when he took a deep breath, it was as if Tracey did too. He didn't fight him, didn't resist him, he was exhausted. It was like in the ocean when he held his breath and just floated on the surface. Tracey was his ocean, black and beautiful and terrible.

The runes bled onto the air with an audible crackle of runic power, an afterimage in the wake of the shard of black that was the enormous axe.

He moved forward, one step, two steps.

He jumped.

From the air, his shadow on the ground overlapped with the axe. Dark bladed wings. He could fly, just for the moment. They never wanted to come back down.

But like everything in their life, nothing was forever, all good things came to an end. Everything that flew so close to the sun burned, and it was with a sinking heart gravity seized him in its terrible claws again. He swung Tracey over his shoulders with every ouce of strength he had as he went into the downward side of his jump. The was no gap between him and the fallen angel, death from above, talons, feathers, a mad swirl in his thoughts.

He didn't hear the crash as shield met barrier, but he felt it, the impact like a shockwave through his body, clipping his teeth together.

Dropping to the ground, he stumbled, expecting strong hands to catch him where none awaited.

There was something blank about his expression as he assessed the damage he'd wreaked.

Rin saw the blazing red flash barreling towards her. She wanted to run, to deflect, to fight it. She lifted Byr only slightly before the fallen angel attached to fiery red devil both came crashing down upon her. The power behind them far greater than she expected.

Rin could feel with almost a sickening sort of satisfaction as her shield buckled and erupted around her; that satisfaction quickly ended as blade continued forward and bit into flesh with a sickening wet sound and a force that rattled her down to the core. A shriek like a swine being slaughtered reverberated across the field, Rin couldn't even tell that the sound came from herself, just that she was falling now.

She was falling and sinking at the same time. Thoughts drifting off in gentle numbing waves as her body hit the ground with a heavy thud. Bright crimson soaked into her hair and clothing, washing body and earth in blood. Every beat her heart persisted, the colder and colder she felt until... nothing.

Icy blue eyes rolled back but remained slightly ajar as Rin finally fell still.

Sunny sent Harrison to the fields with a variety of equipment.

This time, all he'd been given to use was a standard bandaid.

"Ohh s**t," he said, skidding to a kneel hastily and half-slipping in the blood, fingers going to her neck to feel for a pulse- "oh s**t." He used his jacket sleeve to clear blood off a patch on her arm, then put a bandaid there, hoping her weapon could still do its job.

"No tablet," he said shakily, "s**t, come on, don't be dead. Rep. Hold this here- don't- don't let it lose pressure but not too hard either- s**t,"

He dialed the infirmary on his phone,

"We need a stretcher out here, STAT."

Rep stared at Rin, stared as the blood pooled out onto the dirt. It was like he wasn't really in his head any more, like he was watching some awful nightmare. It was a joke, it had to be a joke, Rin usually thrashed him, he didn't win.

Harrison was there and he needed his help. Rep gave it distantly, automatic and robotic, expression blank, eyes glazed, hardly registering what he was doing.

Don't be dead.

"Rep," Harrison repeated, voice sharp, his ear still to the phone, "hold this, now. Uh...looks like- some crushing. And she's cut all to hell-"

Rep was jolted out of his reverie long enough to do as Harrison practically ordered him to, holding as tightly as he could without doing even more injury. It was difficult, in his panic not even sure what a normal human being could handle.

He wanted to retch and he didn't know why.

Rin looked almost like a porcelain doll, skin beyond pale and glassy eyes staring back blindly. There was no response to the chaos above but there was still a pulse. Shallow but ever present and threatening to bleed her further if not for the intervention.

Byr was unable to help any more than Rin was, his presence a simple silver pocket knife still clutched in her blood-caked hand.

Harrison paled as another voice came on the line, "Uh, m'am? Yes m'am, it's bad..." There was a long pause. Harrison's expression hardened, "yes m'am," he replied.

His hands shook as he hung up the phone.

"They want me to do it," he said, tone oddly flat. He didn't have the minute he needed to think. He pocketed his phone, then looked over the training field, gently removing Rep's hands and applying the pressure himself.

"Sorry. s**t. We're gonna have to do some kind of half-assed DIY. Go get me two of the training dummies."

Rep let go without protest as Harrison took over. He suspected he was probably being too rough anyway.

"Why..why would they?" Rin was going to die because Harrison had to do this on his own, because they were even in this situation because Rep couldn't weild his ******** weapon properly. He hadn't spoken to her in ages. He should have left it that way.

He hadn't desummoned Tracey, just dropped him to the ground to help with Rin. The axe was broad and flat. "We could.. We could ..Tracey?" he stammered and pointed, still in a daze but with the fallen angel doing much of his thinking for him, nudging him in the direction of possible ideas.

Harrison gave Tracey a long, hard look.

"Okay," he said, "faster than building something." He secured the pressure to the worst of the bleeding best he could, and wriggled out of his jacket. "Need your belt."
