Smiling lightly Mitsu returned the gesture in sign language as well before she thought about his question. She then brought up her hand in a closed fist with her thumb up before sweeping it downward and then opening her hand and flipping it palm side up before making a an open motion with her arm.

"Anything," It was the word that corresponded with the sign. She hoped this might be a good way for him to pick it up.

Bringing up both closed hands with her thumbs up she held them in front of her before brushing her knuckles lightly together and opening up her right hand and sweeping it downward.

"Everything." She smiled looking away knowing it wasn't entirely helpful. Perhaps she was just teasing him while teaching him at the same time.

Watching her carefully, Shun mimicked her hand motion once more while mentally keeping its meaning in mind. Though, he was probably going to need to practice this a bit before he could really do much. There should be video tutorials on this on the web, right? That may help. But for now, this would do.

When she answered him, he gave her a rather flat expression.

"Zenbu," he replied while mimicking her hand once more. She wanted to know 'everything' and so he said the word for... 'everything.'

Did he pick up on the teasing and was playing along? Or did he really take her literally?

"Zenbu?" Mitsu looked at him for a moment, judging him with squinted eyes though her smile was broadening. He didn't give her a matching word in English so it was likely he was giving her the word for what she had said. Was he teasing her? It seemed like it in his own way.

So in reply Mitsu stuck out her tongue. It was a gesture that needed no explanation.

"Zenbu." Shun repeated with a nod. He didn't explain it any further. Mitsu was smart. She could figure it out. While she was grinning at him more, his own expression didn't change still. However, he did get a somehow more flat look when she stuck her tongue out at him.

"I didn't realize sign language also used the tongue," he commented before looking back forward. The outline of buildings far in the distance could be seen. Some sort of town or village was ahead of them.

"Though, really. Is there anything in particular you'd like to learn first?"

To most it probably would have been surprising that his expression could get any flatter but for Mitsu it hardly phased her. "Hai," She gave a sagely nod. "Sign language is very advanced." Her voice was getting scratchy, however, and she coughed slightly after speaking. Likely she wouldn't be able to continue this conversation much longer.

Giving his question further consideration she peered off into the distance at the town coming into view. "Really, anything. I want to be able to talk to you in Japanese too." She was able to sign some of the words out but some of them she had forgotten. It seemed she was going to have to pull her book out when they stopped so she could study.

Shun shook his head slowly at that, but then turned his attention back towards the oncoming town.

"Fair enough. Though if there's a specific word you'd like to know, speak up. For starter... we're heading to a machi, town. Machi ni ikimasu. We're going to town." he said as a sort of impromptu lesson.

Teaching her the grammar and the like was going to be tricky for sure... especially since he was no language teacher. But.. she wanted to learn and so he was going to do what he could to teach her it.

Mitsu nodded, turning to look at the town again. If there was a word she wanted to know she would ask but impromptu lessons were just as good. "Machi.." She repeated with a smile.

"Machi n-ni iki-" She ended up cutting herself out as she began to cough again, this time harder. Her throat was sore from all the talking.

Rubbing her throat after she frowned slightly falling silent for the time being. She tried to indicate that she was okay but for now she was going to have to let her voice rest. They hadn't gotten very far with the sign language so any conversation was likely to be one sided with a lot of dancing and gesturing on her end.

As she began to cough, Shun frowned, watching her rub her throat.

"Don't push yourself too much," he said softly in concern. Her voice hadn't completely recovered yet, but she was still doing better. Looking her over some more, he soon turned back towards the town. At least they weren't too far off.

"Perhaps we could grab something that could help soothe your throat while we're there," he said.

Rubbing her throat a little more Mitsu nodded before focusing on the town up ahead. For now she remained silent and stayed that way even once they were inside the cluster of brick buildings and hustling people. It didn't seem to be a large town but it was big enough to have a few popular chains as far as food went, a good selection of stores to shop in, random businesses and what looked like a train station in the distance.

Freeing her hand from the strap of her backpack Mitsu reached over to take hold of Shun's, intertwining their fingers so they wouldn't get separated. Of all places to get lost she certainly didn't want it to be in a place she had never been before.

Once they were in town, Shun was looking around to get a feel for the place. There was a fair bit of activity it seemed, but it wasn't huge. Catching Mitsu reaching for his hand, he took it out of his pocket so that he could grip hers gently. Ah. It looked like there was a train station here. Good.

"Would you like to pick up something before we head to the station? It should be able to take us north where we need to be," he suggested quietly. There was the chance the this particular train wouldn't lead up to Howling Crest, but they could always check the map to see where this line stopped and all. If the lycan didn't want something now, there might be some refreshments on the train itself, especially since it was going to be a longer ride most likely.

Gripping his hand firmly Mitsu took in the area with a curious gaze though her steps were far more hesitant. She moved cautiously through the crowd, looking this way and that until her eyes finally settled on something interesting. Tugging at Shun's hand lightly she pointed up ahead, over top of a large winged demon who nearly blocked out the view of the tiny coffee shop nestled between a flower shop and a bakery.

Mitsu wasn't entirely thrilled about coffee though she had never really tried it. She just knew the after effects having seen Levi go crazy before passing out. A day of trying to teach her how to dance had gone a tad astray. It was entirely possible that where there was coffee there would no doubt be tea and maybe something sweet to nibble on. Mitsu had been sure to bring some seeds of her own so that Shun wouldn't have to spend all of his hard earned money.

Watching where she was pointing, Shun leaned over to try and see around the big demon that was in their way. Ah! It looked like she was pointing at the coffee shop. Either that or the bakery... One of the two. Both seemed a little plausible for her. Nodding quietly to her, he began to make his way towards the former since that was closer. If she meant the other shop, she could easily notify him other wise.

Once inside, the aroma of coffee hit his nose. The place, though small, had a variety of different drinks including teas and hot chocolates. It also sold a few baked goods.

Though... he just sort of stared at the menu. Hard. Letters and numbers were jumbled together and.. he wasn't entirely certain what this place had.

".. You go on ahead first," he murmured to Mitsu.

He seemed to understand her intent and lead them both toward the coffee shop. The aroma of herbs and brewed beverages grew stronger, more so once they were passed the threshold of the tiny shop. It was a small enclosed space but still cozy in its own way with potted plants that moved and had a mind of their own. They seemed to reach for the patrons who let them take trash or bits of uneaten food which the plants devoured greedily. Were they...garbage disposals?

Stepping closer to the counter it took Mitsu a moment to pry her eyes away from the plants before she settled her gaze on the menu. They seemed to have a lot of coffee.....a LOT of coffee but that was probably to be expected. The young man running the register moved closer toward them, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"What can I get you both?"

Mitsu was busy looking at the menu over his shoulder, her finger trailing through the air seemingly following the words as she read them. When she finally saw something she wanted she pointed vigorously at the menu. Blinking the young man watched Mitsu for a moment before turning to look at what she was pointing at....It was hard to really narrow it down.

"Slime and Snails?"

Mitsu shook her head and continued to point.

"Berry Bloody Smoothie?"

Mitsu made a slight face and shook her head again, pointing downward so that he would get to the tea options.

"Green Grog?"

She shook her head again.

"Hot Chocolate?"

At this point Mitsu just placed her hand against her forehead. He was way off from where she was pointing.

There was a bit of a problem here, and it became rather apparent as the man behind the counter went down the line of things to order. Shun let out a breath and stared hard at the menu.

"We'll just take some green tea," he said, shooting in the dark. Hopefully they had that... if not, maybe the guy will say exactly what sort of teas they had.

His good eye flicked over towards the display of baked goods.

"Also, 2 pumpkin tarts," he added.

The boil behind the register had been perplexed and uncertain what Mitsu wanted staring back and forth between her and the menu until Shun finally spoke up. Nodding he smiled, "I can do that sure."

He rang up the purchase and got the pastries before he began to work on their tea. After a few moments he handed them both a disposable cup filled to the brim with hot green tea, the logo across the cup mimicking the plants they had sitting around the cafe.

With her tea in hand Mitsu eyed the pumpkin tart with hungry eyes as she took a seat. It was now a matter of where would be the best place to take the first bite. Instead of starting though she looked to Shun and tried to get his attention before pointing at her cup of tea. She held her right hand up like she was holding a small glass forming a cup and used her other hand making it look like she was holding a spoon and stirring the contents in her imaginary cup. It was sign language for tea.
