Karei listened to her. "There are stories to learn from. There are stories of sadness. There are stories to put fear into young ones so they will listen and do as told. There are stories about legends and myths. There are stories about dreams." He takes a breather as he looks at her. "Not all stories are things to learn in other to keep safe. Some teach you to fear. Others teach you to dream. The ones about fantasies are there to teach you how to dream and to believe in things like fairies that take baby teeth in the night and place something the little one wants more in the tooth's place. Like what the two legged call money. Or candy." He points out.

Keetah looks up at him, puzzled. "Why would you want to believe in a fairy who takes teeth? That sounds horrible!"

"Well it isn't that she takes teeth. It is that she gives the kids who are losing their baby teeth something in return. Like money or something. But there are other fairies that have stories to them. Like fairies that make the flowers grow. Change the seasons. Make rainbows." He points out as he is trying to get her to understand that is it bad at all.

Keetah blinks, then shakes her head. "I don't understand. But if you say stories are good, even when they don't tell the truth, that's okay then. I don't have to understand everything and I don't have to understand something for it to be right. A lot of times I don't understand what is right or true. Maybe this is like that." One can almost see the gears turning in her head as she slowly pieces her thoughts and words together.
Then Keetah takes a deep breath and shakes, head to tail and back again. With a grin large and contagious, she turns back to Karei. "So you're going to tell me a story?!"

Karei nods as he smiles. "I hope you will enjoy it." He takes a deep breath and then starts his story. "On a cold stormy night there was a princess who lost her prince. In order to bring him back to life. The princess would need to face not only dragons and death but also what fears are made of. Knowing all of this she embraced her fate and begun her travels for the Sacred Lily Of Life. This flower is a lily is glows of an icy blue color. It is said to be rare and hard to find.
There is a rumor that once you face the Dragon, Death, and your worse fears. Then you will find that lily tied to fluttercorns. They guard it's powers. If your reason is pure they will hand it over to you. If your reason is not pure. They will leave you with nothing."

Keetah listens, her body still as she considers the story. Her brow furrowed, she finally asks, "But . . . if the prince is dead . . . why would facing death help? I mean, just because someone is dead doesn't mean someone else should go be dead too cause if that was the way it was everyone would be dead but instead you should live and keep living and remember but not go die or get eatted by dragons or something and if there are fluttercorns with a flower that can bring someone back to life why would they not want everyone to be able to have it and be mean and not let people be alive again?"

Karei dumbfounded at the moment looking at her. "Well the Lilies are rare and hard to come by. One most prove themselves to the Fluttercorns in order to get it." He smiles a bit. "This is just a made up story. I thought of it when I ran into two fluttercorns that carry glowing lilies. So the story itself is just a made up fantasy."He watches the mare as he smiles more. Nothing can take him out of his fun loving mood. He then continues with the story. "The Princess knows that her reasons for wanting the Sacred Lily Of Life are pure. After all it wasn't her lover's time to die. A Feline Skinwalker took his life only because he crossed it's path. He did nothing to it and was only looking for a flower to please his princess.
That should be a pure enough reason. Not thinking about the Dragon, Death, and Fears as her mind is on the Fluttercorns that guard the Sacred Lily Of Life. They would have to listen to her. They would have to agree that she is pure and so is her reasoning to wanting the Lily. Thinking about it more and more as she travels the roads that are fore told in the legends of the Sacred Lily Of Life. Not paying mind to a lot that surrounded her until fire goes around her."

Keetah opens her mouth once to ask a question, but closes it, shaking her head. It wasn't making sense, but it was made up, so she supposed it didn't have to. Hearing of the fire, she leans forward, wondering what the story princess will do. After all, fire is a scary thing. Maybe what she does with the fire will teach Keetah herself how to deal with fire.

Karei noticed that she wanted to ask a question but didn't. So he continues his story. "This causes her to stop and look up. What she saw was an angry looking dragon breathing fire as the flames surround her. Please let me pass. I will not bow or turn away. I have nothing left in life. So let me go by.
After telling the dragon that she will not bow or turn away. The Princess stands her ground. Her eyes watching the Dragon as it lands. She puffs out her chest being proud and trying to seem brave. The Dragon lowers it's head and starts to speak. You dare to come onto my land and then state that you aren't going to leave. Give me a reason that I shouldn't eat you right now.
The Princess thinks of the Dragon's words. You might not care. I am on a journey to save my lover. Whose life was made short for no reason at all. If I must die so that he can live. I will gladly give my life now to you. Her words are touching and would touch anyone. But this is a Dragon she is dealing with. He breathes more fire around her as he had heard her words and they didn't touch him at all."

Keetah listens to the story. She isn't sure it makes sense. She had seen dragon Soquili before, so she knew there was such a thing. But she didn't know the breathed fire.
But breathing fire or not, that dragon didn't sound very nice. Then again, the princess wasn't trying very hard to make friends with the dragon. And she said she would die for her prince, which still sounded rather silly. But . . . another shake of her head. She would see where this story went. So far it was at least something to think about.

"I said you wouldn't care. Not that it matters to me if you cared or not about my reasons for being here. I am only passing through. In the legend of what I am looking for you are the first challenge then is death. So I don't fear you. The princess still standing proudly and her chest still puffed out as she acts brave though she is really fearful of this Dragon.
The Dragon watches the Princess as he adores her courage Then I will let you pass if you can out smart me Princess. But if you can't then you become my lunch.
The Princess reared up and landed into a bow. I give my word. If I can't outsmart you then I will die at your will. She looks up at the Dragon ready to outsmart him. She wasn't going to lose. She couldn't. Her lover needed her and the Sacred Lily of Life. She couldn't become lunch to some over grown dragon. Or at least those were her thoughts on the matter.
The Dragon looks at the Princess with a smirk as he puffs a bit of smoke from his mouth. Well then there are three challenges you will need to face in order to outsmart me. The first one is to walk through my flames without getting burnt. This will outsmart me. Seeing I believe you will be burnt.
The Princess smirks as she is a wind Soquili and though she hasn't shown her wings that have been under her cloak she knows how to use the wind her wings can make to put out a fire. She shows her wings and creates a wind that puts the fire out as she walks through it. First one done. And I am non-burnt. Name the next one. Her voice showing she is ready to take on the world." Karei continues the story as he continues to watch Keetah wondering if she is liking the story or thinking about it too much.

Keetah's brow furrows as she listens to the story. It was not what she expected, but it was interesting to listen to.
When the dragon decides to bargain, Keetah knows that she would have taken the challenge as well. For all that she is small and excitable, she knows she is very bright and if given the chance, can use her mind to great advantage.
But the first challenge really wasn't about being smart, perhaps a bit about being clever. But mostly it was just physical. And that had little to do with being smart. Besides, the princess didn't actually walk through the fire, she put it out first. That seemed like cheating.
But since it was clever, Keetah supposed it would do. She listened for the next challenge, wondering where Karei's story was going to go next.

Karei watched Keetah as he continues to tell the story. "The Dragon looks at the Princess shocked at what she did. He clears his throat and begins to name the second of the three tasks. Next you need to outsmart me in a race. You have wings but lets see if you can fly through the valley of death like a dragon can.
The Princess realizes now that the Dragon and Death that stands in her way come together. So after she is done with these tasks then she will find the Fluttercorns. I take you up on this task. I will beat you in this race. Her voice calm."

Keetah listens, wondering what the dragon's challenge would have been if the princess couldn't fly. She still doesn't understand what this challenge has to do with outsmarting the dragon, but maybe the dragon just wasn't smart enough to see that the trials were about physical prowess instead of wits.

Karei continues with the story. "The Dragon hearing the Princess's words he takes to the skies. To his shock the Princess had done the same. She is matching him with ease and perfectly. Maybe this Princess could be the one. The one to beat him at his own games. Maybe she has what it takes to get what she truly wants. He smirks at her courage and bravery and hopes for her sake that it is enough to grant her wish.
The Princess not knowing what the Dragon is thinking keeps up with only guessing to his next moves by watching his wings and how he is moving them. Then finally as the race comes to an end she sees an opening and passes him. Landing on the ground a ways in front of him when he lands. I win. What is the next task? She and her lover use to race all the time so she learned from him how to tell how one will move by watching their wings.
After beating the Dragon the Princess stood in front of him waiting to hear the next task. She needs to pass. She needs the Sacred Lily of Life for her lover. She will do anything for it.
The Dragon looks at her and nods. You won the race. You walked through my flames without getting burnt. Now you must pick one of the three paths before you. He points to the paths. Pick the wrong ones and you will die. Pick the right one and it will take you to the field where the fluttercorns guard the Sacred Lily of Life. But there is a trick to it. Each path holds a riddle. Solve then in order to find the right path to take."
