"You newer generation, you have it very nice in your little bubbles," Painite laughed. She shook her head and moved toward him, clapping him on the shoulder and shaking him a bit.
"I'll show you how we used to do it."
She moved away, scoping the area out so she could find someone to target. It shouldn't be too hard, finding some random person on the street: there as always someone. That one person making the bad decision to stay out too late, to walk alone, to do something devious and pay a price they never could have assumed for it. Whatever the case, there was always fodder to be had. She spotted someone not too far off, and pointed.
"We're going to go say hi to that person. You're going to pull their starseed, and then you're going to eat it."

Natron was confused. Very confused. So he stood silently, waiting for her to explain what she was talking about. In the meantime, he pressed an arm to the wound on his stomach, in an effort to apply enough pressure to stop the bleeding.
When she finally told him what she wanted him to do, he stared in abject shock for a good several seconds. "...Rip out their starseed and eat it?" He asked. Did starseeds have magical healing properties accessible when consumed? That made a weird sort of sense, he supposed. But still...his General had just asked him to kill some civilian off the street to heal his injury.
On the other hand, his General had asked him to do it. And it wasn't like this was the first time he'd pulled a starseed (though the first time had been under very different circumstances). Also, Painite had already stabbed him once, who was to say she wouldn't do it again if he defied her?
"I mean, uh, alright, I'll do it."

Painite smiled. She could almost remember when she had learned what starseeds and energy could do for them, and how strange it had been to think that ending someone's life was the best way for them to preserve their own.
But it made sense, in its way, and now Painite hardly thought twice about it. Civilians were nothing but fodder for her use, be it to heal herself, to set traps, or simply to blow off some steam.
"That's good, I don't think you'd get any sleep with an open wound like that," she said it jovially, though her eyes flared with excitement that was far from kind. She moved to take his arm, teleporting him down to the street where she had spotted the civilian. They were in the shadows, and their movement was silent so far.
The man seemed to be out of it, though he was young. Maybe overly tired, or into something he should not be. He stumbled a bit as he walked, and leaned on a wall to take a rest and pull out his phone. He was sending a text to someone. She imagined that would be the last person who ever spoke to him, and they would always remember that.
"Go on, don't be shy," she said to Natron, almost cooing.

Natron nodded in idle agreement. Never mind sleeping; he was admittedly a little worried about being in serious physical danger if this went untreated.
He watched their target, frowning slightly. This would be easy; perhaps too easy, really. The man was in absolutely no shape to fight back. He tapped his fingers against his thigh, took a deep breath, and slowly sauntered out of the shadows until he was standing in front of the poor civilian.
"Hello," he said, as casually as he could manage. The man stared at him, and then down at the sluggishly-bleeding wound on his stomach.
"Dude," he said, and that was all he had time for. Natron reached out and into the man's chest, pulling his starseed out with ease.
"Hm." He looked down at the prone body. "That, uh, was easier the first time."

The Negaverse General watched the scene quietly, her mind turning. She wasn't thinking of this particular moment, per se, her brain stretching out into a realm of mapping and tactics, of plotting and evil doing. She saw the beginnings of a plan etching itself on a blank paper, sinister designs clawing their way to light in her mind.
She smiled. By the time he had the starseed she had brought herself from her reverie, looking at him with a difficult to read expression on her face.
"You did excellently," she said softly, almost tenderly. She touched her hand to his cheek and then patted him on the shoulder. "Now just eat the starseed and you will feel much better. I'm very proud of the work you did today, Natron, and I think you hold much promise. If you would like, I think I could use your help on a project. In the future, I'm only just starting, but I know I will need loyal, strong soldiers to help me. Soldiers who are not afraid to follow orders, and serve the Negaverse."

Natron was staring rather blankly at the starseed and the body on the ground below him. It was Painite's voice that brought him back tot he appropriate planet. "Uh, thanks," he said, a weak response to her praise. He popped the starseed in his mouth, and the effect was almost immediate. It warmed him, and he felt the healing of his injury begin.
"Huh, yeah, I do feel a lot better," he said. Which was strange because he'd basically just eaten a soul. He looked over at his General. "I- I'd be honored to help out with your project, if you decide you want me to." He said.

Painite smiled. Just by him following her directions, he showed that he would be useful to her, and her plans for the betterment of the Negaverse.
She had her own grand goals in mind, after all, and she knew the others would see the glory in her plans in time. The only way to defeat the enemy was to kill them: the rest was all just pointless and wasting their time and their power. Why hide when they could rule.
Painite wanted to rule the city.
"Good. I'll call on you soon. Just go home and rest up, keep up your training." She grinned.

Natron's face lit up. "I'm glad to hear that," he said. He wanted her to call on him! He wanted to feel useful to the Negaverse, to fight and prove how strong he could be.
"I'll, uh, see you soon, General?" He asked. He was fairly certain he'd been dismissed, but he didn't want to assume.

"Soon," she repeated with a thoughtful nod of her head, and a grin with it.
Very soon, she hoped.
She was more motivated than ever to get her plans together. The thoughts in her head were jumbling around in that way that could quickly become unbearable for her if she did not act soon. All she knew at the moment, though, that it was going to be big, and it was going to be fun.
"Stay well," she said sincerely, before teleporting away.
