A secluded place, huh? That sounded as if he might get doe for dessert if he played his cards right. Thistle didn't say a thing, and he wasn't about to try inviting her along. He'd probably mention her when he was alone with Betony, just to keep the doe on her toes, but he knew he had a better chance of scoring if he was focusing on the one doe.
"That sounds nice," he said. "I do like sweet flay."
He said it as if he meant that Betony was the sweet one.

Thistledown had enough. Not even spiting Betony was worth staying around for more of this... whatever it was. It was quite clear where the conversation between Betony and Ragwort was headed. Good luck to both of them and good riddance!
"I'd better go find Falcon," she managed to say before turning and stiffly hopping away.
It was about time Thistledown left! Now it was just her and Ragwort. She felt a faint sense of victory, although it would have been better if the doe she was competing with wasn't Thistledown, of all things. While it was tempting to send a parting shot to Thistledown, she didn't want to risk losing Ragwort's attention. "It's really close to my burrow," she said.
Subtlety wasn't one of Betony's strengths.
