Merope listened to her, tapping his claws thoughtfully. "That... does sound scary," he admitted, "Silence can be nice, but not when it's absolute. If there's no bubbles, currents, wind..." He shook his head. "I don't blame you for being scared. That sounds like it'd be too quiet, I think." Her answer brought a blink from his only working eye. "That's... practicing?" He questioned, staring. "I haven't seen or heard anything like that before."

Terra let out a little sound of guilt, giving him a shameful grin. "Well, I am not practicing the traditional songs I am taught--do not tell my teachers," she whispered. "But I have a bad habit of trying to play various songs that I have heard. It is so much more fun than playing the same song over and over and over and--well, many times," she said. "I did not even learn to read music until I had been playing for almost a year. I was not very good that year--the positioning and such, it is difficult to figure out on your own. I was nine," she added. "My violin--it was almost as big as I was!" she exaggerated.

Merope suffled uncomfortably. "A lot of what you just said went right over my head," he admitted. "Music isn't and hasn't been one of the classes I've taken here. I don't think there's anything wrong in doing extra, but practice can't hurt. Unless it's boring," he amended, "I can't do my homework if it's boring. I get too distracted."

"Oh, si, you must practice your chords!" she said, as if that was only logical. "But the chords make up so many different songs. If you know the chords you can play anything, you see? It is more like... painting than homework, I think? You learn your colors and then you can paint anything! You learn your chords and you can PLAY anything!" Or so she thought. She had no clue that a lot of people didn't see it that way.

"Practice my... chords...?" Merope repeated slowly, reaching up to his neck. "These things are tricky to put into place. How do you practice them? Do you have to cut yourself open to get to them to play it with your fingers? You don't look like you do that, I mean," he stuttered, "You don't have any stitches around your necks or anything and you don't look undead and undeads tend to be a bit squeamish when it comes to that...

"No, no, chords are--they are the places where you put your fingers as you play, in a way," she said, simplifying it as much as she could. She summoned her violin and showed it to him. "For the B chord you place your fingers here, here, and here--and run your bow--" She placed the violin under her chin, bringing up her bow--"over the strings as such," she explained, playing the chord. "There are only so many of these, but you play one after the other--" she played a tiny bit, "and you create a song!" she explained proudly.
