She was so close he could smell her, reaching past to silence the toy. His heart was racing. Roar was saying something but he couldn't concentrate on the words. What other Lifers there were were far across the room, buried in their own business.

She leaned in closer and sniffed.
"Have you been drinking, Jerry?"

His expression darkened, tensing around the eyes, his lips pursing. Had he been drinking? What did she care. She didn't care about him. She hated everything he clung to. She'd made that clear. He didn't need her. He WANTED her that was the difference. He wanted her and he'd take her.
She smelled of the ocean.
He didn't need her.
She was hovering so close, smelling his breath, just a heart beat away. His body tensed.
He needed her.
The toy went clattering to the floor as his hand shot up too quickly to grab her arm, making sure she wasn't going anywhere.
Yes, he had been drinking. And he needed her so badly it kept him up at night, it plagued his thoughts and ate away at his insides.
He needed to let her go.
The old Sasha was dead. The woman who had been his best friend, his closest ally, his sanctuary, his hope, was dead.
She wasn't dead, not really, she stood right in front of him, now against him as he dragged her forward, and tasted the same as he suddenly stooped to press his lips against her's.
He needed her.

The instant that his hand wrapped around her arm, Sasha's lips were twisting into a snarl - a snarl that was half-formed before his lips were pressing to hers. He tasted dark, like alcohol. Nothing like the man she'd been spending wild nights with. He felt wrong, all wrong - hair too long, lips the wrong shape. His scent, his desperation - nothing was right. It was wrong.
All wrong.
It infuriated her that he thought he could come to her like this, accost her like this. As if she belonged to him. She belonged to no one.
Despite this, she slipped a hand up along his neck, twined slender fingers through his hair.
She'd asked him, not so long ago, to take her. He hadn't been able to handle her. He hadn't been able to see the loneliness that writhed deep within her, coiling upon itself like a furious viper.
Those same fingers slipped down his neck, danced delicately along his skin. Draw him in.
He would pay.

"I'm sorry," He breathed against her, his hands rising up to comb her hair back, "I'm sorry-" He repeated even as Roar grumbled a warning in the back of his head. He ignored him, his slender fingers running down her back, along the curve of her waist. "Please..."

He was sorry?
"It's fine, it's okay," she hissed softly, glittering eyes locked on her fingers around his neck. Sasha traced delicate patterns against his skin.
"Please?"
Please, what?

"I'm sorry I'm a mess, I'm sorry, I'll fix it, I'm fixing it, I do need you..." He whispered against her, his hands traveling, memorizing every inch he could reach.

Sasha slid her leg up alongside his, urging him closer and closer still --
-- before dropping her high-heeled shoe directly down onto the top of his foot.
At the same time her fingers tightened around his neck, nails digging into either side of his throat, curling in around the fragile hyoid bone there.
"I don't need you. I don't want you. I don't want you to fix anything."
She squeezed her fingers inward.
"You don't get to turn me away and then come simpering back to me. Do you think this is what I want? You begging me?"
Sasha shoved him away - or tried to, at least.
"Get out of my sight - and if you ever, ever manhandle me again?"
Her entire expression darkened as she bared her teeth, hands forming claws.
"I will destroy you."

Jerry gave a yelp as the heel came down, but the noise was caught in his throat by her tightening hands. His eyes were wild as she suddenly snarled. "I don't know what you want!" He choked, "You... you... You come barging in when I'm... I'm close to DEATH, just wanting to tend my wounds and maybe... maybe ******** SLEEP," He pulled back out of her grip, his hands shaking, his expression trembling and furious, "After you had explained JUST HOW MUCH OF AN IDIOT YOU THOUGHT I WAS, JUST HOW USELESS EVERYTHING I VALUED WAS and you wanted me to drop everything and just ******** YOU?"
Just walk away, get out, this is moronic-
He didn't care a few heads had turned to stare, the Lifers knew well enough to just back away and give them privacy. Sasha could take care of herself, even with an irate Sun. "You say you know me but you know s**t," He slammed a fist down on the table beside him, sending paperwork scattering. "I ********.... STAND UP FOR MYSELF and you scream NO I MUST HAVE MY INDEPENDENCE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, and I stand up for myself and you scream NO JERRY YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG BECAUSE IT'S JUST ME ME ME ME WELL YOU AREN'T THE ONLY ONE LEARNING TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. YOU AREN'T THE ONLY ONE PICKING UP PIECES OF THEMSELVES. My whole LIFE I've been shoved around, told what to do, how to dress, how to behave, how to think, and I stand up for myself and you CAN'T STAND IT. You shoved me out of your life THE MOMENT you had an excuse! THE MOMENT your life turned troublesome you SHOVED ME OUT you didn't even GIVE me a chance! I TRIED to be there for you! AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND YOU GAVE ME s**t. I RESPECTED YOUR INNOCENCE. I MASTURBATED IN YOUR GOD DAMN CLOSET BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T READY. And suddenly you were and I was expected to just be your ******** CALL BOY? You were my BEST FRIEND, SASHA. You were my EVERYTHING BUT APPARENTLY I MEANT NOTHING TO YOU. ALL YOU DID WAS DISAPPROVE OF EVERYTHING. " Spit flew from his mouth, his hands shaking. "Did you EVER EVEN LIKE ME?"

Sasha let him scream and screech and spit and yell - and when he'd finished, she took a moment to organize her thoughts.
She held up a hand.
"You.. you masturbated in my closet?"

His face still contorted with rage, he blinked several times as he tried to process what she was saying.
s**t, he had said that part out loud?
"IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO AND I PANICKED."

Sasha lifted an eyebrow. It crept slowly upward, arching skyward until it seemed as if it could go no higher.
Then she promptly walked away.

She didn't. Instead, Sasha picked up her pace, heels clicking almost frantically against the smooth floor.
This was the first time since meeting Jerry she'd actually found him terrifying. It suddenly seemed prudent that she surround herself with people.
Being alone with the sun hunter didn't seem like it was a wise thing to do.

Roar was quiet. He didn't quite know what to say. Anything beyond a nervous growl seemed like a bad idea, would provoke him. The man was a desperate, miserable mess and he wasn't quite sure what had finally instigated the snap. Was it his time asleep? Left too long to his own devices? No, the man had been on a rickety slope long before this.
And unfortunately, the Island Therapist was out of commission.
You need to find your Jerry place, man, just... calm down... he finally ventured, but unfortunately his hypothesis was correct. With a wild howl, the whistle at his neck glowed brightly, but Roar dug his claws in, forcing himself to stay desummoned.
"WHY DO YOU HATE ME WHAT DID I DO SASHA PLEASE-" But she was gone.
Jerry glanced over his shoulder, to the security cameras, to the vacant desks before stifling another sound, swallowing it, his expression going cold and distant, a soft hum under his breath. It had been a long time since he had switched off like that, but it at least gave Roar the opportunity to gently coax him into quietly taking his leave.
