"Don't. I've already told you, I don't need saving."

"Not saving," His attention returned to his instrument, carefully experimenting with what sort of picking and plucking his wounded shoulder would allow, "reminding. Of the magnificent woman you could be. But aren't. And never will if you keep trucking like you are."

"I certainly don't need reminding of the weak and pathetic girl I was. Do we really want to discuss this again?"

His eyes narrowed, but the rest of his face remained lax. Only the dip into a minor chord and quick strum signified the emotion that swept through him, "I'm not talking about her. That woman is dead." He glanced up finally, "I'm talking about who you could be. A magnificent woman of strength and solidity - and kindness. We are not monsters. We fight the monsters. There is a middle ground, Sasha. You are finding yourself, I respect that. And so am I. And when I see what you are becoming, what you're allowing yourself to be out of... I don't know, some belated need to act out- hey, for some people they grow their hair out. Others decide to just be nasty and force everyone away. But we aren't monsters. We're human. And humans do better in a pack. If you want in my pack, then well... you're going to need a little bit of improvement."
Another chord. This time an optimistic natural.
"You can wallow in the darkness on your own, reach deep down until there's no one else but you, or you can join me in the light. Feel like you have something worth fighting for. Worth saving. Those are my terms. Are you worth it, Sasha? Or are you just a liability? One cannot trust Chaos."

She was retreating. He had struck a nerve.
He struck a chord, took a last sip of his coffee before leaving it behind to continue merrily plucking at slow, practicing intervals.
She wasn't the only one who could stick a finger in a wound and hope to get results.
"She's a mean one, Miss Bellrose. She thinks she knows How it goes. But she'll be alone in the pitch if she wasn't such a b***h~" He sang casually as he followed behind her.

She stopped in her tracks, dropped her head.
"You know what, Jerry?"
Her voice was low and calm.
"Maybe you're right. Sometimes... sometimes I really miss what we had together."

Sasha lifted blue eyes to meet his soulful dark brown ones.
"I said sometimes I really miss what we had together."
She bit her lip.
"...do you still have my flute?"
There may or may not have been a quiver in her voice.

"Instruments are valuable commodities here. I'm not giving it back if you're just going to throw it away again," He kept marching past her, taking the lead again.

A tic started in her jaw. Imperceptive at first. She narrowed her eyes on his retreating back.
And promptly turned to walk in the opposite direction.
