What? Candace found herself unable to think of anything to say, backing away from Harrison as he knocked her arm away. Was he..was he seriously doing this?! Seriously?! What the <********> did he see in this guy?! Her fists clenched at her sides and she backed away another step. No, wait. She saw what he was doing...kind of..he was scolding Rep. Well...good. She couldn't help but think back to that moment in the haunted house where he wouldn't even look at her. No, where an image of him wouldn't even look at her. Where all he would look at was..

No. That kind of thinking was pathetic.

Rep dropped the knife and Candace visibly relaxed, sighing with relief and putting a hand on her chest over her racing heart as her legs turned to jello and she stumbled a bit where she was to stay standing. Thank god. Thank god. Thank god. ********! What was Rep thinking?! "You...wanted..to talk?" Candace snarled out, her breathing heavy. "Talk to me like I'm a ******** human being! Because you know what Rep? That's what I am! You're not better than me! You're not superior to me. Being a man doesn't make you anything! It just means you have a p***s. It doesn't give you any special goddamn authority over anyone just because you're a man!" She was pissed. He wanted to talk and instead he pulls this s**t?! Are you ******** serious?!

"I was talking sense you...you...!" Candace raised both hands and buried them in her hair, ruffling and pulling at it as she tried not to shout with rage. She kept her volume as level as possible but it was a little difficult with what bullshit Rep was spewing. She spoke slowly now, working very hard to keep herself from running at him and making her little fantasy of punching in his face a reality. "What gave you the impression that I wanted to you to be scared of me before you pulled a goddamn knife on me?! What is WRONG WITH YOU?!" Well there goes that attempt not to raise her voice. Good job, Candace. "Harrison is my best friend! He's...he's one of the few people in this damn place I feel comfortable going to when I'm...DAMNIT you idiot! So what? Me hugging him is goading you? Are you ******** serious?! Get over yourself!"

He wasn't worth it. He wasn't worth it. He wasn't ******** worth it.

"Me bringing up Harrison was my way of going hey, maybe you should ******** think things through and stop being a selfish twit! You ******** up doesn't effect only you! It doesn't stress out only you! You can't tell me you don't know this by now! You can't be that dense!" She was so sorry, Harrison. She tried, she tried so hard to get along with him for you. Just for you. But he had broken down her wall of calm collection, and she was angry.

"...She can get kinda touchy feely, but she don't mean anything by it. Candace, you outrank him and me, there's no reason to flip your s**t."

He stopped gripping Rep's jacket and started smoothing it out instead.

"She and you are both assholes," he said, but the tone was affectionate, "and it didn't sound like talking, on account of you being a dangerous a*****e with or without Tracey."

He smoothed Rep's shirt, too, the muscles there still tight and wound up from all the fury.

"If I'm stressed, it's on account of what we've all got hovering over our heads. Not because of him."

The minute the knife hit the floor Candace started up the nastiness again. He'd earned it but that didn't make it any less stressful. Her protests that she was his equal despite being female fell on deaf ears. She was wrong, he thought to himself, she'd always be wrong, and she was just angry that today she'd been reminded exactly how superior and dangerous men were. She'd even hid behind one to get away from him. "Not equal" he mouthed almost silently, as if simply reassuring himself.

But in the face of her anger, his own seemed to level off, a sort of vicarious pleasure in watching her lose her cool. He let her rant, let her explain her side of things, all with an innate air of condescension, Listening, but not to her words. The main thing that got through to him was her comment about Harrison. She was right in that much, he couldn't be left alone for five minutes without causing some kind of s**t.

And Harrison still looked so tired. But he hadn't sided with her, he hadn't gotten angry at him. Even though he had every right to be annoyed. He should have been resting too, the various burns, cuts and bruises giving him constant irritation, but at the same time they were simply fuel for this restless anger he couldn't seem to put out the fires of. Harrison got a subtle grateful look, it turned colder as he looked back to Candace. "You knew what you were doing when you tried to call my bluff. You can't be that dense."

"I'm not talking about rank, Harriso--no reason?! You've got to be kidding me. I have every right to be angry right now." The knife was gone and really the only reason Candace wasn't going up and attacking Rep in rage was because Harrison was standing between them. There was something wrong with Rep, something seriously wrong. His views were so painfully archaic they were going to get him killed some day. Killed and never coming back. How could they not ******** see this?! He was so stupid! That was what made her the angriest right now, how blind to the problem Rep and apparently even Harrison was.

Narrowed eyes turned toward Rep again. "You should be thankful to Harrison right now." She hissed out. "He's the only reason you're not on the floor." She was wearing heels, and she didn't care how ******** muscled up a man was a heeled show stabbing at their gut just had to hurt. She didn't need Atropos to deliver a hard kick. Candace distracted herself with fixing her hair, her hands no longer shaking as she worked at calming down. On the bright side she was still standing and uninjured, that was definitely a huge relief to her right now. She'd let off a lot of steam with her yelling just then and it felt good.

"I know you can do it, Rep. That 'be a decent person' thing. We've done it before, learned hey we actually have some things in common." She hadn't been calling a bluff, oh no. Candace knew if Harrison hadn't literally stepped in that he would have attacked her. She sighed, rubbing her temples and closing her eyes a moment.

"Harrison," Candace finally called out gently, her voice sounding tired now. "If you're still going to pod duty can I come with you?" Pod duty provided the peace and quiet she needed right now, plus there was a certain name she wanted to look for as she had promised Nevada she would do. And it would be nice to be with Harrison without Rep right now.

"No reason to flip your s**t authoratative-wise," Harrison clarified, and got a kind of funny look on his face at Candace's taunt. "...For saving him? What, I don't get any thanks for saving your a**?"

His hands from where he was smoothing out Rep's shirt trailed to his belt buckle. He flipped the latch back and forth.

"Decency's overrated."

He withdrew his hand.

"Inna couple hours," Harrison admitted, repeating, "I was going to get something to eat first, and lie back down a while." He held his jacket closer, grumbling, "Didn't come in here to get in the middle of a knife fight. I just wanted spaghetti."

Rep rankled at Candace lecturing him now she was out of harm's way. Of course. Cowardice was expected. He even smiled - an entirely unpleasant sort of smile. Harrison was the only reason he wasn't on the floor, he could have laughed. He had been the one with the knife, she hadn't had anything at all. False bravado. Still, he couldn't shake the twist of hurt as he found himself worried that he owed Harrison, that he'd been a burden, he didn't like the thought that now both of his boyfriends were stuck minding him like a child, there couldn't be much joy in that.

And she wouldn't let it go. Still lecturing him on being a decent person. Tracey would have told him she meant well by it, but Tracey wasn't there and all there was was resentment and hostility. How dare she play cheerleader to his problems after getting him so ******** worked up? How dare she talk down to him in front of Harrison?

But the anger was unsustainable under Harrison's touch. It stopped him from picking up the knife and just throwing it at her, it reigned in the tantrum that had been threatening to bubble over, it redirected the hatred.

He still couldn't help but look incredulous as she proposed to go with Harrison to pod duty, as if she just had to get in one last insult over him. One last claim on him. He stooped to pick up the knife and stow it away before eying both of them, torn up with a plethora of emotions all tugging in different directions. "Sorry man." he said to Harrison. To Candace he said nothing at all, which was, all things considered, probably better than the things he wanted to say.

The slight reprimand from Harrison made shut right up, her entire body seeming to sag as the fight left her. Rep couldn't do anything wrong. Nothing Rep had done was wrong. Only her. She was the only one doing something wrong. That was what she was seeing right now and it hurt. "I'm sorry...you're right." Candace quietly replied, fidgeting with the edge of her sleeve and keeping her eyes turned down. She hadn't thanked him, it just...slipped her mind in her rage. "Thank you, Harrison. Really. I mean it." She knew Rep would have attacked her if Harrison hadn't come by. A hand slipped into her pocket and she brushed her fingers against the tablet hiding inside. Please come back to me...

"I didn't come here to get into a knife fight either." She muttered with a soft chuckle, running a hand through her hair. Spaghetti? She could make that for him, let him sit while she did the work, make up for what just happened. She couldn't care any less about Rep right now it was Harrison she adored. He'd managed to make her feel like a scolded child who didn't deserve to be a scolded child. She hadn't done anything wrong, meanwhile Rep ******** got away with everything without even so much as a slap on the wrist. Again. Candace sighed. "Let me know if you want to hang out, it's been awhile. A long while. I miss you, stupid." She pouted and finally looked up, putting her hands on her hips. "I'm not really that busy today so don't be a stranger, okay? I'll..I'll see you later."

Candace relaxed again and turned on her heel to leave. She needed to get away from Rep. Now. Right now he was dead to her, he didn't exist, he wasn't worth getting in anymore trouble over.

"Ah, I didn't mean-" Harrison started, almost embarrassed about the sincere apology and thanks. He didn't have anything against either of them- they were how they were.

Just right now they were all made of paper.

"Okay, yeah. I don't mind a chat. I'll text you."

He wouldn't mind the company on pod duty. He felt better not being alone in the facility.

He hefted B0nez up so he was under his arm, instead of just holding the bag by the handles. "Think I'm just going to get something to go and head back to the room," he muttered, looking at Rep, "...You coming with?"

Rep was done arguing with Candace, it had come too close to a permanent mistake and he was rattled. It was better just to let her get on with whatever she'd been going to do before she ended up a target. He eyed the floor almost distantly, left with nothing but that hollow guilt he was always left with when he'd lost control and had nothing to fall back on but regret.

Harrison's words made him look up out of his reverie with a nod. "Oh. Erm. Aye. Aye I'll come with." He hadn't been awake long but he was exhausted.
