But Gigi was getting to be awfully tired. Commotion or not, Monsters or not, her energy was draining away as the hours passed, and in some ways the little girl was very open to the idea of falling asleep and letting the creatures in her room have their way with things...
She could close her eyes...
Fall asleep...
Maybe pretend that nothing had happened...
Go to school and make all the other kids jealous of her bravery...

"HUH!" Gigi gasped, her reaction delayed but no less frightened. She had managed to doze off for a minute or two before the wood of her toy chest came crashing down on itself, and waking in a fright sent her torso into a upright, and ridged position. As they had always been, her stuffed toys were tucked in each arm tightly. "hnnnnggg, Fifi, Cookie....Daddy!!!!" She whined and whined, names all too familiar now to the monsters that surely crept about her room.
She was awake again. Forcibly so. And in some ways this made her a bit crankier than before. But the face that appeared through the curtains, the hand that reached toward her...Well, she wasn't cranky enough to go down and confront it. None of it.
"Just go away!" The words were muffled as she jammed her face into the stuffed heads once again.
