Her paw struck him across the shoulder with bruising force, sending him staggering a step or two. By this time he was beginning to feel the effects of being on the receiving end of so many punches. Even without the claws, there was strength enough to leave a mark hidden there beneath the fur.
Now he just had to make sure that the bruises were worth it.
"Stay down!" He growled, throwing out another swipe with a swift jab of his left paw.

Despite everything, Yamini was grinning again when Cassian growled for her to stay down and struck out again. She wasn't hit but the threat made her trip, ending up in a half-standing position and using the only weapon she had that wouldn't throw her shaky balance off- her teeth. She snapped out at his leg before it would withdraw but she didn't have much of a chance, especially since she wouldn't use her full strength. This wasn't about actually hurting him, this wasn't a real fight.

Her teeth didn't exactly hurt but they did startle him and he leapt backwards, eyes widening. "No teeth." He warned and aimed a cuff for the side of her snout as if rebuking a cub.

She was hit on the nose and recognized it as a scolding swat, even without his remark. You could use your teeth and claws without causing any real damage- it certainly helped her. It seemed very sudden that Yamini managed to jump up to her feet and put a little more space between herself and her opponent. Half-standing was not a good position to be in.
"I'm sorry," she said, not sounding sorry at all, "Can't take a little nibble?"
It wouldn't be very interesting if they were stuck just shoving each other around, you just couldn't aim to do real harm. Of course she was going to use her teeth if she needed to. You couldn't argue with results.
She hopped forward suddenly, snapping her teeth in hopes of distracting him while aiming a push with her paws.

"You fight dirty." He bit back, backing away from her snapping teeth and grumbling under his breath as her paws came up to shove him. His tail was snapping back and forth angrily behind him, his temper beginning to get the better of him. What if he used his teeth, hm? Maybe she wouldn't laugh and tease so much, then.
He stomped a paw into a ground, snarled and laid back his ears. His pale, pale eyes watched her and then, with a surprising swiftness, he lunged forwards, attempting to hook his jaws around her neck.
Only gently...of course.

She snorted at his claim that she was fighting dirty, though she couldn't help but smile smugly at his assertion. She took it to mean he was still struggling to accept that she was female and winning (she was sure she was!). Or.. that he was hesitating to fight properly against a girl, which still deserved her smug smile.
Stupid boy.
But then he lunged for her neck. With similar speed, she tucked her head down against her neck and pushed forward, putting her shoulder in the way of his teeth. And he accused her of fighting dirty! Snapping at his paws was safer than aiming for the neck, that was how you took down prey.
When he hit her shoulder, she twisted around and struck at his head with her paws. It was awkward with one leg stuck under him and the other so far away from her target but she was annoyed enough to risk it.

His teeth jarred sharply against her shoulder, sending them ringing painfully through his jaws and neck. Grimacing, the next thing he knew was being shoved downwards, pressed to the earth. His sides heaving, he tried to twist free, the dirt rubbing against his fur. Well, that was bound to have left a mark!!
Gritting his teeth, he got his hind paws beneath him and shoved his body upwards, hoping to knock her off balance and be able to slip away before she could make another move.

Yamini was indeed thrown off by his sudden rise but she reacted quickly. Before her paws could get back to the ground she pushed her whole body forward into his, hoping to catch him and throw him back to the ground before he could steady himself after rising up so quickly.
Of course, this meant she was probably going to the ground with him.

Her attack threw Cassian back to the ground and almost completely rolled him over. Panic seized him again - there was something wholly disconcerting about being belly-up like that - and he tried to kick out at her - though apparently she was out of reach.
Which meant on to plan B.
With a snarl, the white and brown lion tried to use her attack to his advantage, following the momentum through so that he could roll her off of him and get himself back on his paws; hopefully throwing her to the floor in the process...

He flailed but it was just chance that he missed her as she continued along toward the ground after him. When he kept rolling, she had no choice but to follow- scrambling while moving so unpredictably at this point didn't feel right. She hit the ground hard when they finally stopped, unable to keep them going.
Her only hope was to try to push him away before he steadied so she could roll free and get back on her feet. She wasn't ready to admit defeat yet though she was definitely feeling the consequences now, so she kicked out with her back legs.

Her frantic attack hit him in the lower jaw and irritation flared for a moment. How was she so quick like that? Why couldn't she just stay still for a few seconds so that he could pin her to the ground and declare himself the winner?
He gave chase, pursing her.
But she was already out of range. Dammit.

Somehow- miraculously- she got away. And this time, she decidedly stayed away, giving herself a moment to right her feet and get a sense of what she had left in her to fight with. This had gotten pretty rough pretty fast but it wasn't over yet.
She didn't want to make the next move, though.

Panting now, the lion watched her - suspicious for some sort of trick a female might pull. He wondered, idly, if she was feeling as tired as he was. Or maybe he was just out of shape? A little more exercise in his day might not be such a bad thing judging by his current performance today...
"This isn't over yet." He grumbled. Is that why she was standing over there? Did she think she was the winner?
Ha, not likely!
Pushing off of his hind paws, he moved towards her again, swiping out a paw with some distance still between them in case he needed to make a hasty retreat.

She watched him, no longer smiling even when he made sure to point out this wasn't over yet. She even continued to watch as he started to move-- but once he struck out she ducked and lunged forward too. While one paw was lifted she would try to push another one out from under him. His paw hit the side of her face and she winced but kept moving.
If this didn't work, she wasn't going to get much farther.

But Yamini needn't have worried. Her strategy worked a treat and when Cassian's front paw was pushed out from under him his weight pitched forwards into the dirt. He landed on the side of his face, bruising his jaw with a force that rattled through him - and maybe even knocked a tooth loose!!
He lay there for a moment, stunned, and then - when the shock of his fall had ebbed - he looked up at her with his silver eyes and frowned.
"Fine." He grumbled. "You fight pretty good for a girl."
And that was it. His time was up.
