They continued pulling weeds and West continued watching them, looking for signs that something was amiss and finding none. Just ghouls milling about and talking. He had a rather insistent urge to speak with a couple of them now that they had spoken to Red, but he didn't think he could do so at the moment without lashing out. It would have to wait until another day.
After the barest nod for those who had turned his way, including their teacher, West was off again, jogging back in the direction of the demon dorms.

Glad for a place to put her pulled weeds, Belladonna hastened to snatch up her pile and not drop any. Such small, slippery little pieces of plant wanted to slide from her fingers, so when the witch darted forward to drop them in the basket a few ultimately clung to her front. Normally something she would have avoided, the witch instead found herself caught in Red's gaze. The witch had willingly joined the gym class, had been excited for it and was a little hurt over the teacher's words. Up until now, the woman had done nothing that could warrant Belladonna's anger, so now it felt like a betrayal all on its own. When Red's next words came, they hurt far more.
"You think this is-- That I am upset over some lace?" Belladonna sputtered, a hand pressed to her chest to indicate not only herself but also her shock at that. Really! Did Red honestly think she was petty enough to still be upset over that? Or was this merely a test? Or even a trick? "Your class was fine, that isn't my... What I mean to say..." Now she was flustered, off track. And for that matter, Red wasn't even paying attention to her. With a defeated, but somewhat suppressed sigh she turned to see what had caught the teacher's attention, but hadn't expected LW. The witch quickly waved at the ghoul, glad for her presence. It was good to have friends nearby, even for something as simple as a question and answer session with a once former, now returned teacher. Yet the teacher asked one last question.
This time Belladonna really did sigh, suddenly wilted as she clasped her hands together in front of her. For a long moment she only stared at the ground, considering her words, before she looked back up at Red, not even bothering to hide how heartbroken she was. "I do not know... That is why I have come to you. To find out where they are. To get them back if I... If we... Can."
Red tilted her head to one side and studied the baku. "Is such proof of existence really required?" She questioned, gesturing with her hands. "You and your kind go into dreams and nightmares alike; what of the rest of us? Is what you see really a dream, or is it something that we who cannot witness and remember the events you and yours see not a dream but a separate kind of reality that we partake in unwillingly? Is this," Red spread her arms out, indicating the field, "A dream of mine, a sort of longing? A remnant, an echo of something I could not have?" She pinched herself, then she pinched herself again with a shake of her head. "I cannot tell, nor would it be fair to ask you to judge what I see and what I feel to tell me if it is the truth or not. What we see, what we know -- instinct is what we make of it."
Belladona's outburst was met with a shrug. "Let me point out that I do not know you. I don't know anything beyond your name. Contrary to popular belief and to my ties to the Boogymen, I do not go snooping in files. I think it is not my place as a professor, even as a former professor, to go out of my own way and interrupt your business in order to get to know you better." Another shrug. "Students prefer to keep to themselves and hang out with other students. Myself? I do not know where my own friends have gone or whether or not they will see me. Thus, you know about me as much as I know about you, no?"
The werewolf reached down to pick up her basket. "Your friends are lucky, I think," she began. "As soon as they went missing, as soon as they were apparently killed... You stepped up to come looking for them. You did not take appearances at face value and wrote them off as dead. They are... very, very lucky."
"Please excuse me. I do not wish to speak of this topic anymore." Red nodded towards the group and began to walk away, her eyes scanning the ground for another likely patch to continue working on.

The question caught the ghoul off guard, and she opened her mouth automatically to answer, but found that she wasn't sure how to answer the question. She clamped her mouth shut as Red continued on, head tilted and ears alert as she took in the professor's words. It was true, the baku had to admit, that she had never really thought of things in such a way. Dream diving just came so naturally to her kind that she never thought...well...
It definitely gave her something to mull over. When the werewolf picked up her basket and straightened up, Xiu perked up in surprise, her pink eyes moving to look at her. Was she going? So it seemed, or rather, she at least no longer desired to talk about this particular topic. Pushing herself up to her feet, the baku pat herself off.
"I...um, thank you, Red. I appreciate you hearing me out and giving me something to think about. I'll take my leave now." The group had, after all, grown significantly larger by this point. "Ah, and--welcome back! Really. I look forward to seeing you around again."
She dropped into a small bow, and then turned to offer the other students a smile, waving--and resting a hand on their shoulder, in Belladonna's case--before turning to leave.
