Not to mention you said I could sleep where i wanted, and i choose the basement." He walk towards the dinning room ignoring the tea and sat down at he table across from the girl already in the room. He nodded at her but other then that made no acknowledgement of her presence. As he sat he started muttering to himself, "Damn lying woman....stupid voice...."

Rebecca looked up from her hands and was shocked to see the other houseguest appear so early. From the plane ride over, Rebecca got the vibe he was as hard and cold on the outside as Rebecca felt on the inside. She heard him talking to himself over the popping and sizzling of whatever Oki was preparing. He nodded at Rebecca, and it was all she could muster to nod back. She didn't trust men. She had a long history of dealing with untrustworthy people, and most of them were male.

She put her head back in her hands and just tried to relax. She listened to the cooking, trying to block out the male across from her. She looked back up momentarily. She checked his neck; he was wearing a damned collar too! Rebecca cleared her throat trying to get the male's attention, but low enough to not let Oki notice. If the man looked up, he'd see Rebecca making a scissors-cutting motion on the collar, hidden on the opposite side of her neck just in case Oki decided to glance over at them.

User ImageVlad looked up at the sound from the girl across from him. She was making a motion at the collar she was wearing. He thought she was asking if he knew how to get the collar off. if he was right he thought this female must be stupid, if he knew how to get it off would he really be wearing it now? oh well he thought to himself and shook his head at the girl.

He tilted back in his chair and propped his feet up on the table. He was trying to formulate a plan for escape but all he could come up with was to simply resist her till she gave up and sold him back to the slavers. It was something that had happened many times before and now would be no different, he didnt serve the weak masters and that wouldnt change now because of some damn collar.

The assassin felt a twinge of dismay when the man shook his head about the collar issue. Perhaps he wouldn't be wearing his if he knew how to get it off, right? Rebecca swirled the few stray tea leaves in her cup and watched as they formed a crescent moon shape at the top of the liquid against the rim of the cup. She wan't thirsty, and she knew if she drank, she'd be all the more hungry. And though whatever Oki was doing smelled delicious, Rebecca was still weary about eating.

What if Oki decided to feed them today and then never again? Rebecca knew she shouldn't eat if she wanted to continue her fast. It would only make her start over again and the first twenty-four hours was the worst. Rebecca stood and went to look out the dining room window out to sea. She hated water. Water was so crushing, even though it always looked so serene. She had to get out, and fast, but she didn't know how. She didn't hear the airplane take off again, but she was certain there was no plane on the island anymore. Even if it was, it was hidden, and more than likely under lockdown at all times.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Vladimir's collar would provide him with a light shock the moment his feet touched the table. Oki would come in with a damp cloth and wipe down the table. The cloth would disappear and her mysteriously dry hands would run through Vladimir's hair. A momentary but blatant pet. She spoke evenly, "Oki should explain the collars, yes? Yes. When he or she is bad, they will tighten or administer a shock depending on the weight of the crime. Their muscles will lock if they try to leave the island without permission. Oki is certain they have found the collars do not come off. They will not unless Oki says a special word and makes a special gesture. The collars will not silence them, will not change their thinking but will always tell Oki where you are, what your mischief is and if you are being good."

She smiled, standing next to Vladimir- her posture modest, gentle, "Oki has taken them into her care. She will treat them well as long as they obey. And refrain from calling her a liar. Oki said 'room'. The kennel is clearly a cage. Yes? Yes."

Snapping her fingers, three plates appeared on the table. Heavy with roasted orange duck, wheat noodles in heavy sauce, roasted vegetables and cheddar bread. Full glasses of water, juice and a glass of wine for Oki appeared. The woman giggled, scooping up her wine glass and sipping, "Oki does hope they enjoy her cooking. She will be cooking each meal, thrice a day and there will be snacks throughout the day. Oki does not like to feel hungry, she assumes they do not either."

Rebecca turned as Oki came to the table and somewhat aggressively scrubbed at the table where the man's feet had previously been. She listened intently and took note that the collar wouldn't, in fact, ever come off. That is, unless Oki did some sort of incantation. Rebecca began to wonder what type of incantation the broad had in mind and thought even harder about how to get the information on it. The assassin wondered if this was to be her greatest challenge yet: succumb to the woman, gain her favor, and thereby getting Oki to remove the blasted thing.

The assassin was startled from her thoughts in the next moment as the meal that had previously been roasting on the stovetop simply appeared with a snap of her fingers. Magic. The word came to Rebecca instinctively. She had never experienced such an abstract thing in her life, and was even more on guard than before. If the woman had magic powers, Rebecca surely couldn't decipher any semblance of incantations even if the woman did relinquish the information.

She walked over to the table and stared at the food curiously. She was still weary about it, even moreso now that it had just appeared from one side of the room to the other. Still, she sat down, remaining careful not to anger the witch...which of course was the only term that Rebecca could associate with the woman at the moment.

User Image"Whatever im not going to argue semantics with a lying caster, ill sleep in the kennel and i wont call you mistress, your names Oki. Oh and since im being bad that means i can stay in the kennel." the shock from the collar jolted him for a moment and then when it passed he started eating his food looking at Oki in contempt. He was just all around pissed now, he couldn't stand this woman, she thought just because she has magic collars and could do simple magic she was so great. In the empire there were mere servants who could do the things she's down and she acts as if she is all powerful.

He was seething and needed to vent more, his eyes locked onto the girl across from him she hadn't said a word the entire time, "And you! What are you some pitiful mute? say something or are you one of the ones OKI already broke into obedience?" He took an angry bite of roast and sat back in his chair seething.

All Rebecca could do was sit there and smirk. She liked the male's spunk. It reminded her of herself in her mercenary days. However, she would by no means bite the baited hook that the man just cast at her. It was all part of the plan, right? Succumb, gain favor, get collar off. Three simple steps.

She noticed the man flinched in pain from the jolt of the collar, and Rebecca found herself immediately grabbing her water to keep from laughing out loud. This was going to be one exciting stay here at Oki's house if the other houseguest would continue to be so arrogant and stubborn. Rebecca was both those things too, but she knew her tools and when to use them. Her best tactic at the moment was to bide her time and play her cards right.

Oh he'd be such a delight to watch twist, she sipped her wine, taking a bite of vegetable. She barely seemed bothered by his outbursts, dismissive in fact. He would act out and when it came to being physical, perhaps he'd dare be so brave to try. She wondered, mused- what a delight he'd be.

Her gaze fell on Rebecca. Her pluck certainly seemed dimmed compared to Vladimir. That smug look on that lovely face- Oki did not mind it. Something her servants should take notice of was the tiny plucks of energy blooming through them. Aches and pains would fade and dim. Another sip of wine, "Oki is not an unreasonable woman. She enjoys conversation perhaps they would like to tell her about themselves or worries. Break the ice with one another. Oki is even happy to answer questions."

User ImageVlad sighed, the fiery anger was rapidly quenched by the tingling sensation behind his covered eye. He didn't want to lose it, not particularly because of Oki but because he didn't want to kill the girl across from him, she as innocent as far as he was concerned. So he ate his food with the practiced hands of a nobleman, Even being a slave he did not let his eating etiquette diminish.

When Oki made the offer to share about themselves he figured it couldn't hurt. So taking a long sigh he started off talking evenly, "I was once a general in the Imperial Army, you may wonder how when im only 19. Well I joined the Military Academy at the age of 14 and had graduated with top ranks a full 3 years before my fellow class mates. From there I just climbed the ranks until I reached 18 and was first promoted to General. This was about the time a Rebel Army had formed and we the Imperial Army had to fight to protect capital city. Through countless battles and my middle name. Many of the men and women below me came up with the name Strategic Grim Reaper, due to the fact that once the battle would start no matter how the odds were stacked against me, I would come up with a strategy that would leave the enemy in ruin."

He took a sip of water and went on, "One battle, my last battle was outside of my calculations. all the enemy soldiers were charmed with a destruction magic,it caused them to explode when struck. All my men were killed in the carnage and i was knocked out. When I came too I had been captured and from then on for the next year I was tortured relentlessly day in and day out for information, I never gave anything up though, not that it mattered. After I escaped and made it back to the capital the King refused to believe that I hadn't given any information and had said it was impossible for me to have survived for a year. I was arrested, and sentenced to an immediate death, i was put in front of the whole city, people who looked up to me fought with me all cheered as the executioner raised his ax...." He fell silent for a long moment then finished, "But I escaped and then later collapsed from fatigue and wa captured by slavers." He dropped his head and continued eating not looking at either of the too sitting with him. He had no fight in him right now and felt nothing but self pity and loathing at that point.

Rebecca listened contently at the man's story. It seemed believable, and she could clearly see marks of torture that had healed over and scarred. It might have even explained the loss of his eye. When he finished his story, Rebecca wished she could have offered him some semblance of pity or comfort but she only remained cool and emotionless. After a few dry moments, she calculated the risks of telling her own stories. In the long run, she had decided against it.

The only thing she said that was revealing was, "I'm an assassin."

She took another sip of her water and cringed as it coated her empty stomach. The food did smell good, but she was determined to continue her fast until she knew more about the witch and her intentions. She would not intentionally poison herself like the male was doing. Even though Oki was eating too, she could just as easily removed any poison from her food with the magic she was so imbued with.

So young, no wonder he was so standoffish- his body chemistry hadn't settled yet. His ego had not had time to cool. She had overlooked his age for the interest in his eye patch and his tale. "He is a very eloquent speaker," was all the feedback she gave him. It was all he deserved.

Her gaze fell to Rebecca, a slow smile on her full lips. "She does not eat because she does not trust. Oki understands- why would they trust someone who can wave her hand," a flick of her wrist and a stunning blue lotus appeared in her hand, "and summon pretty little plants. Oki assures them. She would not waste her skills on hurting her new housemates. Oki promised to take very good care of them." Oki set the flower in the untouched glass of water before her.

User ImageVlad sat there in silence, recalling his past always made him feel a bit somber. He sighed, he had had enough of being around people for one day and so he wiped his mouth, excused himself from the table, got up and left the room. As he made his way back to the kennel he felt the pull on his collar but ignored it, he need the solace of the dark to make him feel comfortable. Something about it just felt so relieving.

As he layed down in his cot he felt the pull on the collar increase slightly but still ignored it. He didn't want to be around anyone, especially not now. He knew the pull would continue but didn't care it would probably keep him awake all night which was fine with him, with sleep came the nightmares and with nightmares came the screaming in his head. They nightmares were always so violent and bloody, dreams of a beast just ripping apart the innocent. He always woke up screaming at least once every night, it was something he knew wasn't in his fill, because he knew the slaver didn't want it to affect his sales. So he curled up and tried his best to push away the memories of is past.

Rebecca's suspicions were only confirmed again when Oki produced a lotus from her hand out of thin air. Rebecca stood, frightened. Magic was a weakness because she never had the ability to fight it. Never had the weapons to combat it. Regardless of how "Oki assures them," Rebecca would never eat so long as it was moved or plated by magic. Oh how she craved the touch of her slate knife just then. To feel some semblance of strength, even if it came simply by holding a weapon. She stood there, simply paralyzed with fear, not even really taking care to watch the man get up and head back to the basement.

Rebecca took to her instincts and ran back upstairs. Up to where she knew she had a weapon. Up to where she'd be away from the magic. There was a tug on the collar, more of a curious, what-are-you-doing?-type of tug than actually one representing punishment shock or discomfort tug. She bolted into her room and literally slid across the bed. As she slid to the floor, she reached up under the pillow and grabbed her knife, holding it close to her breast for reassurance. She panted, and leaned back against the side of the mattress.

She had to get out. SHe had to find a way. Magic would simply kill her.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. One was polite enough to excuse themselves, that delicate tinge of fear gripping the other as she all but ran out. Oki calmly watched as her companions left. What a waste of good food. She hummed, running a finger along her glass, the siren song of it echoing no father than the dining room. "Perhaps Oki isn't very good at this," she told the lotus.

The small woman stood, clearing everything with a wave of her hand. She had to choose, fear or anger. Perhaps she should message her dear furred friend. He had always been very wise. No. Not yet. Tucking a lock of hair behind her ear, she took a breath and sighed. It was only the first day. First days are always rough. Rincing out the glass she wished the wine had more effect that it did. She missed her days of drunken stupor, you rarely felt lonely. The world was more fun then, she giggled, a lot more fun.

She hummed, pulling a sealed bag of jerky and a box of vanilla wafers from the cupboard. She walked upstairs and knocked on the open door of the red room before entering. This was Oki's home, she would go where she pleased. She set the sealed items on the table and waited a long moment. "Oki does not expect her trust to come easy. Oki is sorry for startling her. It is hard to remember not all have seen or can hold magic. Oki has brought her something sealed from the store, because she must eat something. She will come out when she is ready. She will no longer need poorly constructed toys to feel safe."

With this said, she would leave- the door open behind her. Oki would walk to the basement and to the kennel. She smiled at the standoffish youth, the collar would halt it's slow tightening and relax. She cleared her throat and waited patiently for his attention to be gained. Oki had patience for him, but only so much. He wasn't bad, just arrogant from a title far too big for someone so young.
