Atlantis laughed lightly at Cergens words, how flattering! "Your going to make me embarrassed" She told him with a warm look, though his next words mad her pause a little bit. How had she been as a foal? To be honest she had donned so many masks since taking up her career path that she wasn't even sure she knew anymore. Had she been shy and bashful? Sweet and kind? She supposed she must have at least been kind - otherwise she never would have been nice to Cergen when everyone else tormented him.
To cover up her unease she gave him another coy, bashful look when he reached out to touch her neck. "Yes..well everyone changes when they grow...you weren't nearly this confident when you were a foal." She remembered that at least..why when he was a foal, even though she had always been nice to him, he had barely been able to hold a conversation with her he'd always been so nervous. But then he had also been clumsy and awkward and he certainly wasn't any of those things now either.

He leaned his head closer to her. "Maybe I want to embarrass you, to see you flush." He said teasingly as they walked. All those years away he had imagined what their reunion would be like. Would she accept him? Would she shrug him off and think him foolish to return? Would anyone really allow him to return to the herd? There were so many questions that he had considered not only over the years but even more so on his journey back to the beach. Cergen had to admit that a pit of fear had formed in his stomach over the negative possibilities that might arise with his return. But so far things were looking pretty good, and if the rest of the herd was even half as welcoming as Atlantis had been well then he would be set. Though really outside of Atlantis and his parents he didn't care what the others thought of his return, he wasn't returning for the others, he was returning specifically for them.
Cergen let out a bit of a chuckle. "That's true. I was a lot of things as a foal but confident surely wasn't one of them." His eyes drifted out towards the ocean and then slowly swung up the beach and towards the trees that beyond held his old jungle home and let out a sigh. Would he had turned out so confident had he stayed here and dealt with the horrible things that composed of his foalhood? Possibly, but he would never know for certain. "It's a shame I had to be away from all this for so long. The jungle was a challenging place to live but I think it was what forced me to grow up and become the stallion I am today. Part of me is grateful for the way the others treated me when I was younger because it set me upon that path. And yet, I missed out on so much not being here with the herd. I wish I could have seen you grow from the kind foal I remembered into the beautiful mare you are today."

Atlantis was rather glad when Cergen took her comment and ran with it. It freed her up to just nod and smile rather then attempt to think up any more small talk. She wasn't really sure how he would have turned out had he stayed on the beach - likely shy. The foal that had been fallen to being picked on after his departure had turned out rather shy and quiet. Afraid to speak his mind or opinion near the more forceful thoughts of his companions. But perhaps that wasn't fair to him either - everyone reacted to different situations in different ways after all.
But before she could think very much longer on that he was turning the conversation back in her direction and she gave him a warm look to make it seem like she had been paying full attention rather then being lost in her own thoughts. "Well..I don't know if you missed all that much..." She stated affecting a somewhat self conscious air about the compliment he was giving her. "Besides" She teased "If you had been here to see it then you wouldn't appreciate it so much now!"
They were slowly getting closer to area the herd typically resided and Atlantis knew there wasn't very much more time to cement the stallions obvious loyalty to her - how terrible would it be if he saw another mare he like more? No she would have him...none of the other mares in the herd would ever have him if she could help it.

Cergen let out a chuckle. "Ah how true you are Atlantis. Coming back here after all these years do make me appreciate everything more. The sand, the water, the company." He said turning his smile towards her. Still he did wish that he had have been here all along, or at least had gotten the courage to return home sooner. But perhaps it was fate that had forced his hoof to stay away for those five years, perhaps there was purpose to his absence not just to grow away from home but something else that he had yet to realize. There were so many questions that he would never know the answer to, and really what was in the past didn't matter so much any more, the future was before him and it was looking brighter. "You are as smart as you are beautiful Atlantis." And he meant it, wholeheartedly. He still felt like this was all a dream, especially finding Atlantis to be without a mate. How was it that with all those stallions in the herd she was still single? Well it didn't matter, she was and if luck was on his side soon she would be his mate.
Seeing that they were almost to whee the herd resided Cergen brought his hooves to a stop. This was the point where he could either run back into the jungle and hit away for the rest of his life or keep moving forward and face his past demons so that he could make a future here. He cast a glance at Atlantis and flashed a slightly nervous smile. He would not turn and run, he would walk in there proudly and confident with Atlantis beside him and he would not feel any fear. "I'm glad your here to see me through this. I was worried I've have to come back and face everything alone, but with you at my side...I feel like I can tackle anything." His eyes moved to where the herd was ahead then back to Atlantis. "When this night is over...I'd like to spend more time with you...a lot more time."

Atlantis couldn't help but preen just a little bit at the stallions compliments - much as she told herself she was only interested in him as another prize in her hoard it was hard for any mare to not be delighted as being called smart and beautiful. When he paused on the verge of entering the herd proper she worried for a brief moment that he would change hi mind and run off from wherever it was he had come from...but no it seemed that he was determined to see this course through and for that Atlantis was grateful. It saved her from having to take the time to convince him, what good was a prize like him if he ran off before she could flaunt it?
"I would like that." She told the stallion sweetly before glancing to the herd. "But never fear - they will all be happy to see you." She reassured him even though she wasn't entirely sure it was true. Giving him another warm look she stepped forward, urging him to follow and knowing somewhere deep within that he would.
