She could sympathize with such things. "Then perhaps the Haunted House is to be studied to figure out just what it did. To be honest, however, there are certain parts of Red, from what I have been able to tell, that did get left in the house." Another frown creased her face.
"And 'in that way'? Are you meaning the fact that they got inflicted with Insanity in such a degree inside of the house?"

"Ah, no, mi dispiace - I mean, if cores are something common to FEAR-beings, humans would not have them, no?" Malodore left the rest of Cricket's comments alone, for now, though it absolutely did file them away for reference. Hm.

"Ah. No. I believe humans call the closest thing they have to such a thing a 'Soul'. Though from what I know their soul holds very little productive purpose as they have it." Cricket rubbed one of her arms.

"Hmm... then knowledge of the core could not be used against the only beings I count as enemies worthy of elimination." It opened its beak in what it hoped was a confident and reassuring smile, and folded its fingers together.

"I'm sure you'd be able to figure out a way to make it an effective path of study." Cricket replied cryptically, not really sharing what was on her mind. Just smiling.

"I certainly hope so," it said, fervently. "Ah. Where does one begin? And... this must be research of a secretive nature, si? Hidden from Bogeymen and the like, and other students as well?"

"Hidden, yes, but not so secretive as to be suspicious. That merely is a matter of your study habits and how obvious you are about what your books contain." Cricket replied, reaching out to pull a book from her own assembly of them.
The book looked rather old and worn with various glowing scripts across the front in what looked to be Cricket's own infected handwriting - for those who actually knew what her handwriting looked like. MINIPET HEALING She offered the book to the plague doctor, and a quick opening of said book would quickly reveal that the outside was a cleverly made slip cover over a book that actually contained a book about FEAR Poison.

Malodore chuckled. "No one ever tries to take my books, other than - ah." It gently, almost reverently, took the book from her, delicately fanning through the pages for a moment. "Riley. She often shares things with me. I should hide this from her, as well?" It asked with a little trepidation; it was unused to hiding things from Riley, but it would do so if it had to. She would understand, it hoped...

"That depends." Cricket answered as she slid the book back amongst the other ones, giving the spine a long stroke before pulling her hand away, frowning in as discreet of a manner as she was capable of.
"If you trust her, keep her within your trust. However, I would say that you should not share what you learn with her. That is for you alone to know."

Malodore nodded, slowly. "I shall do that." It wasn't sure how Riley would feel about it, but it hoped she would understand. She had her own secrets, it knew. "When would be good for me to come in and study? Given that you aren't alone." It glanced over at Red's bed.

Cricket also glanced towards Red's little fortress of solitude she'd set up. "I'll let you know in the way I always keep those who need to be informed." her finger traced one of the glowing bugs on her forearm.
"But soon. I'll need to make some discussion with my contact and that will at least take a few days."

It nodded solemnly. " Grazie, Infermiera, molto grazie- I am honored by the trust you place in me." It bowed to her with utmost respect. "I will honor that trust, in turn."

Cricket nodded in turn. "Do not be honored with earning what trust I have given you." She looked towards the door for a moment, checking to be sure nobody was listening in on them.
"When in doubt, I will assist as I can. Never fear coming to me if things get out of hand for any reason. Any reason." She sounded very serious.

"I shall do so," it promised, soberly. "It will... not be as it was before, with the Insanity..." The plague doctor shook its head. "I will tell you. I trust you... mentor."
