Aventine tapped her fingers thoughtfully on her knee as she pondered Camelot's responses. It seemed that now, for the first time, she realized that they might be the good guys, but they sure as hell weren't on the winning side. Not if they could fight as hard as possible and still wind up short handed.

Too few princesses to purify, too many people polluted by chaos.

"So…talk over fight. Right," she said slowly, wondering how well that was going to last. Chaos had a very unique way of pissing her off—and even when they weren't outright attacking her, she had a hard time talking with them.

"I guess that's something I'll have to look into. I hope you guys," she paused, and then corrected, "We…can figure that stuff out. Hey—I want you to promise me something, all right? —That Chaos stuff. I don't want to ever end up like that. So disillusioned and psycho. If they ever get me, I don't care what you have to do, but don't let them keep me. That stuff—that's scary. I don't care if you have to lock me in a room until all the Chaos leaves—don't let me do anything bad. I'd fight it, as long and hard as I could, but I've seen enough horror movies to know what weird possession s**t looks like. I don't want that. You think you can you handle that, Mister Knight-In-Shining-Armor?"

Camelot looked at her in surprise, thinking about her request.

"I will do everything I can to prevent that ever happening," he said at last, then he smiled and nodded his head, though the air around him was serious. "And everything else to save you. And the others. Chaos is my biggest enemy, and I do not want it getting its claws into any more of my friends."

He watched her, then decided he might as well ask, since they were talking and making deals any way.

"If you ever feel like you need more protection, or a greater out reach for learning and training, I have a team of Knights. The Knights of Destiny... ah... like the Knights of the Round? But not just Earth Knights... well. I need to work on the sale's pitch, but uh."

Aventine, now knowing that she could hold Camelot to that promise, felt much better about the whole Chaos thing. His invitation to his group seemed interesting—even if she wasn't the sort to ask for protection. "Oh, that sounds cool. And I wouldn't worry about the sales pitch—you've got me interested! Though, uh…what do you guys do?" she prompted, leaning forward. She was obviously interested—the reach for learning and training was something she was particularly enthusiastic about.

"I mean, I take it you don't just sit around a table and chat. Or. I mean." She tilted her head. "Do you? Or is it just like some nice little group where people get together, work things out together?"

"Well. We protect Destiny City. There are a lot of innocent people who get caught in the cross fire, or are just used as energy fodder. Youma are a constant threat, as well. But more than that, we try to find a way to end Chaos, and the war, and we defend Order. We serve along side the Senshi, if they need our aid. It's kind of a simple goal, but I find having a team around, people I know I can turn to and trust for anything, gives me more strength than if I was on my own."

He learned a lot from the others that he knew, and being able to contact them and know they were united with him was invaluable. Maybe it was more a mental thing than anything else, but he was sure his team offered more than just comfort.

"I have a room at the library that I use for meetings, but more often I just meet up with some of the others while on patrol, or I send notices through our signets. I try to keep an ear out for any issues that might need our attention."

"Oh," Aventine said, nodding as she considered the information. Camelot really seemed to have his s**t together, and it was a relief to find someone who really did seem to know what they were talking about. "Whew, all right, then. Seems like you really are the man to hit up."

There was a vast amount of satisfaction and relief in that—in knowing that there was someone around who really did seem to have a grasp on everything and was willing to go the extra effort to make sure that everyone knew what they were doing.

"I like that—what you guys are doing. Seems like something all the knights should get involved in. At least, I'd be interested. I don't want to see anyone innocent getting hurt, and I would seriously love to get rid of all those damn youma. Those things creep me out."

Camelot laughed. He wasn't sure when he had become the one with answers, rather than questions, but he supposed it really had happened. Here he was, helping newer knights and not feeling anxious about it. He really did feel like he knew what he was doing.

And he had the confidence to back it up now.

When he had first started out, he was just a fish out of water. Even though he had been aware of the war and had been having bad encounters with Chaos even before powering up, he'd still been in over his head when he got his powers. Time really was the best teacher, he supposed.

But he was doing his best.

"Yeah, they are very nasty, those youma. And some of them can just get... very, very strange. But if you would like to join us, I am more than happy to welcome you. There's not much to it, really." He laughed. Maybe he should make them all buttons or something, to denote being in the group.

Something.

"Yeah?" Aventine asked, unable to resist feeling a bit of pride in the offer. Even if Camelot had been hiring even the most desirable of ruffians to help out in his group, she'd have been prideful. "Well—I mean, sure, I could give it a go. I can't promise I'll be a lot of help or do any good right off the bat, but," she paused for a moment, chewed on her lip in thought, and then reassured, "But I'd like to try, at least. I mean—I'm here for a reason, right? And right now, I need all the help I can get. I think having some people back me up and show me the ropes might be just what the doctor ordered."

Yeah, she liked to do things her own way. No, she did not like asking for help. But she was in over her head—what the hell else could she do? These enemies were monsters, wielded magic or bared deadly weapons—and here she was, still far too green to be on the battlefield, no matter how confident she was in her skills.

Aventine did not want to wind up dead, so she was going to make damn well sure that she was taken care of—and that she was doing her job.

"I think if you worry about learning and growing, the rest, helping others and returning the favor, will come in turn."

He bowed his head a bit, offering her his hand.

"Welcome to the team, then, Aventine!"

He was genuinely glad to have another member on the team, and he hoped he would be able to introduce her to more members sooner rather than later. He wanted a unit of knights that could contact one another and who knew each others patrols and habits so they could take care of one another thoroughly.

"Oh!" she grinned, eagerly, clapping her hands together before she extended a hand to take Camelot's. She shook with obvious enthusiasm. "Well, this is good news then, thank you so much! I promise, I won't let you down!"

Or, at least, she'd do everything in her power not to let him down. "I'll work my hardest to try and make you and the others proud!" And to find some sort of nook for her to feel comfortable in. It was a relief—that even if she was still new and trying to find her way in the war, she had a group of people she could rely on to help guide her.

Her hand shake made him laugh, but only because it was so enthusiastic. He gripped her hand and then released her with a chuckle.

"I know you'll do your best. And I will aid you, in anything you need. Don't be shy about questions, or if you want to train." He was there to pass on what he knew to the newer knights. And to keep them safe. The last thing he could bear would be losing any more of them to Chaos, in any fashion. Death or corruption.

He was still trying to decide which was worse.

"Good, good," he chuckled and shook his head. "You are going to be fine, I'm sure. I can't help but feel I've kept you hostage for a while now, though. Are you heading anywhere? Would you like some company?"

"Hostage? Oh, no, no," she insisted, smiling. "This whole conversation has been superb, you've been very helpful and it has been my pleasure to chat you up. I didn't exactly have anywhere in mind. I mean, I was thinking maybe heading home, but that's not so far off. Not that I cheat and head home early every night, it's just that whenever I've got a lot to think about, I don't want to get in a tizzy about it. I'd rather head home, let it sink in, and make rational decisions in the morning."

Aventine was a hothead and rarely managed to avoid rash decisions, though she'd rather feign being responsible than admit that she had dirt under her nails that she wanted to scrape out in the bath before she was too tired to pretty herself up before bed.

Camelot smiled and nodded.

"Well, it has been my pleasure, honestly. And I look forward to chatting with you again some time. Perhaps we can go on patrol some time?" He wasn't sure if she had her signet yet, so he didn't depend on them to send messages very often. They were not all that convenient, in the end, though it was a good enough way to keep in contact with some of his team.

His own signet had been easy to find, in that small house in Camelot... a house he assumed had once belonged to him, though he so far had no memories of the place or his past life there. He knew very little about who he was, in fact.

But even he still had things to learn.

"Have a good night, Lady Aventine." He smiled politely, with just a bit of humor and teasing.

"Oh, I will," she promised, winking for good measure. "And I'll definitely take you up on that, I'd love a patrol with you sometime. So you have a good night yourself, I'll catch you around sometime!"

She waved, and then turned, setting off on her path back home in better spirits than before. She might have had more questions, but at least she had more answers, and that was as good of a start as she could ask. It gave her something to work with and something to work for—and that was more than she could have asked for.
