Mai had returned once to hand out their drinks.

She took notice of what they were doodleing on their napkins and what not, realizing they all most be architects or something. She was impressed, they were all so young. To think one's life can go so differently from another's. She was around their age yet she worked at a dead end job with a 4 year old son causing havoc at her friends house. These men were young, successful, probably had plenty of money from they way they dressed, and probably had no trouble finding dates.

She left the table with little more then a nod or two to whom ever bothered to look over at her as they continued talking among each other.

It was about ten minutes before their food was finally ready.

"Here you go, boys."

She captured their attention, getting them to settle themselves and push their unfolded napkins out of the way as she began to place their food down upon the table before each man.

"If you need anything else, don't hesitate to call me over alright?"

She offered them a bright smile before turning and leaving once more.

Mai would wait at the waitress station, watching her one table as they ate, once it looked like they were finished with their food and were merely talking among each other, she came back over and gave them the bill.

The guy on the right insisted on paying the bill. "C'mon guys. I did invite you." he said as he took out his wallet and paid the bill. However, they all agreed that they would leave a good tip for their beautiful and funny waitress. All together they left Mai a $20 dollar tip. Their overall bill had been around $30 but they really didn't mind.

Before leaving completely, the three men waved at Mai who was by the waitress station. Nate actually approached her and handed her their tip to her in person. "Thanks for the meal. Tell my son I say hi." and with that said, Nate joined the two other guys and left the restaurant. They headed back to the office building. The napkins in which they had drawn they had taken with them. It would seem the nice expensive cologne the men wear was still impregnating the air in the area they had sat. At least they were down to earth and friendly.

When they got back to the office building they recommended the small restaurant to everyone. It was quite good, a friendly environment, and with cute waitresses. For now the three architects seemed to have forgotten about the little mishap of the "daddy" calling since they all were too caught up with their work, but as soon as they all returned to their own personal working stations, Nate remembered again. Daddy... Heh. I don't know this Mai woman but she already made my day. The memory of that moment about an hour ago made the young architect have a good chuckle. He could always use and enjoy a good laugh.

Quickly, however, he returned to doing some blue prints for a small construction site that would start on a couple of months. Nate was one of the head architects on that, much to his pride and joy.

Mai was cleaning this and that at the waitress station when the young man came over. She seemed a bit puzzled as to why he'd bother to come over, though it wasn't like she disliked it. She looked won the the few bills she was given that was her tip.

Just as she took the 20 dollar tip from him he spoke his parting words.

Her jaw dropped as he turned and walked out, leaving nothing behind besides the enticing aroma of expensive men's cologne.

She was brought back to reality as one of the other waitresses bumped her and said, " I think he likes you~~"

Mai blushed and turned to look at her co-worker.

"W-what?, no way."

Mai brushed off the comment and shook her head, once more turning her attention to whatever she needed to get done next.

The work day had been rather busy for some reason or another. Mai wasn't complaining, fro it meant more tips and let time to think about the weird occurance to have bumped into 'daddy' again. She didn't even know his name!! All she could refer to him as is 'daddy' which really wasn't helping any of her daydreaming sessions.

3pm rolled around and she left work. She managed to catch the bus on time and took a seat towards the back. her mind once more wandering back to the handsome young man she's now managed to run in twice in the span of two days.

"Uuuggghhhh, get it together Mai. It was a coincidence....I'll probably never see that guy again.." She told herself, trying to set aside all thoughts about the man. There was no point thinking about someone who know you're not going to me again. It was just better to focus on what IS before you, then what COULD be. 'Could Be's were not something a single mother could afford to think about.

She got off the bus and after a wall,s he reached Machiko's house. The moment she stepped through the door, she was instantly greeted by a very happy Taehyun.

"Ooommaaaa~~"

The little boy ran itno her arms, laughing. Mai chuckled and picked up her boy.

"My, my. You're in a good mood. Machiko hasn't been feeding you candy again has she?"

"No, actually he's been talking me about daddy." Came Machiko's voice as the woman stepped from the kitchen, now leaning in the doorway. Mai nearly dropped her boy upon hearing that term again.

Machiko's arms crossed as she gave Mai a disapproving look, " Who's daddy?"

Mai looked to her boy and gave him a big kiss ont eh cheek before settign him back down.

"Taehyun, why don't you go gather your things so we can go home."

She watched as the boy ran off before making her way into the kitchen, Machiko fallowing her. Mai went about grabbing a glass from one of the cabinets and filling it up with water, taking a sip as Machiko continued to stare her down.

"Well?"

"He's no one."

"He doesn't seem like no one to your boy. He was all he talked about today, how nice he was, how tall he was, how he wore fancy clothes, how carried around a black suitcase-"

"He just happened to he some random guy on the street that Taehyun grabbed onto yesterday..."

"Just some random guy? He must be some guy for your son to have liked after one meetings."

"I-I guess. He looks about my age, and seems rather well dressed..I think he's an architect."

"Why do you say that?"

"I saw him and his buddies drawing what looked to be details of a building on napkins."

"...He was drawing on napkins in the street?"

"No, at the cafe."

"I thought you said your son saw him on the street"

"Yes, that was yesterday. Today he happened to be eating lunch at my work."

Mai took not of Machiko's odd look.

"I know, I know. Seems crazy. To have come across the same guy twice. he even remembered me. He told me to tell his son hi for him."

Mai chuckled. Machiko only stared, not sure what to think of this.

"Is he some creeper?"

"What!? No! I mean- I don't think so. He seems like a really nice guy."

"You like him?"

Mai gave a shrug," How can i answer that? both meetings were so brief."

"Well is he hot?"

"I don't wanna talk about this anymore." Mai finished her glass of water and walk out of the kitchen just in time to see her kid put his backpack on.

"Ooooh come on. Is he? You think he'd go out with you? You really need a guy, Mai. It's been too long."

"No, I don't need a guy. I've got one right here." She said as she took up Taehyun's hand," He's the only guy I need."

"Well your little needs a big guy in his life."

"I'll see you tomorrow Machiko, say good bye to the ahjumma, Taehyun."

"BYEEE AHJUUUMAAA!!"
Taehyun waved as the two left the house.

"YAH!! Don't you think I don't know what that word means!! I'm not THAT old!" Called after Machiko, " And don't think we're done talking about this Mai! I'm serious!"

The walk home had been pleasantly uneventful, leaving Mai to enjoy her time with her son who was still in a good mood.

As the day went on, nothing pretty spectacular really happened at the office. Well, with the exception of the guys constant teasing to "daddy", although they were making fun in friendly way. Nate left seemingly "humorous" atmosphere of the office that day when the clock stroke five o'clock. He had been caught up with his new design that he would be turning in during the finals. It was kind of psychedelic yet old in a way.

Upon his way home he couldn't help but remember yesterday's surprising encounter with the little boy and his mother who he happened to encounter today again. Honestly, the memory did bring a somewhat smile on his face for he understood the need of the little boy of a father. He himself had grew up without one and it did feel terrible. Not understanding where he is and wanting to have one when seeing the rest of the children at the playground accompanied by both parents. This explains why Nate had a positive reaction towards the little kid. Either way, he kept on his way back home and once he got there he realized that he needed some serious cleaning.

Yes, his home was organized but that didn't mean it didn't require some sweeping, removing some dust, and all the basic stuff that a house required when it came down to maintenance. Messiness was not the problem at least. Scratching the back of his head and letting out a sigh, Nate spoke to himself. "I need a housekeeper.... " He spent so much time out of the apartment that he rarely had time to spend there or clean. That is why it was all organized but with dust. The only reason he came back to his apartment was to sleep and shower. His office was more of a home than this place!

Sighing, the young man left his suit case on the living room and his coat on the coat hanger by the entrance. Winter was right around the corner and Nate just loved it. It was the time where a beautiful white cape embraced the city and his inspiration came. Letting himself fall on the couch, he decided to rest for a while before taking a shower or doing anything else. It was a brief rest of probably twenty minutes but still, it served its purpose.

The next day, it was the same process. Waking up, shower, skip breakfast and go to the office. Without realizing it, lunch hour came by in a blink of an eye. He had no idea what the office would order that day. Since there was an architects meeting that day, the office was paying lunch for everyone. Apparently, the secretaries had taken their recommendation of the small restaurant seriously for they called them up to bring lunch for everyone. Nate had no idea...

"What? You want me to go on delivery?"

Mai was confused, she never got asked to go out on delivery, not that they delivered often to begin with, just when they had large catering orders or for some big event that for one reason or another wanted their food instead of a more fancier and pricier place.

"Yea. it's a bit of a large order today, and john can't do it by himself. So go with him, drop off the food and come back. it's slow right now so the other waitresses should be able to handle the tables her."

"Um. Alright. Sure thing, boss."

It was an odd and rare request. but she agreed to it. It would be nice to get out of the restaurant for once, and deliveries for large orders tend to bring nice tips, and this working mother was all about money.

After the food order was made and loaded into the car, she left with John to get out to the office building that had ordered the food. Upon arrival she came to realize they were at some architect firm. It was a big building, really nice looking.

"Wow..." Mai stood there staring up at the building, gawking at it until John hollered at her, " Oh, sorry sorry!"

She went about helping John pick up all the bags of food and some assorted drinks. john lead the way to the front desk where they were then instructed which floor they needed what orders to go to. John was confused and thought they would be able to just leave the food here. However instead of arguing with the front desk lady, Mai butted in and with a smile told her it would be no trouble for them to drop off the food to the proper meeting rooms.

Once they were given instructions, they made their way to the elevator. John went on to argue with Mai fro a little bit about wasting time here, how their boss seemed animate about having them back at the cafe soon. Mai could only say that it would be fine, and how it wasn't that busy at the cafe right now anyway.

John got off the elevator at one floor, and she got off another. The arm load of food was quite troublesome for the shorty. her arms getting tired and pinched by the handles of the plastic bags she had going up her arm. To her great luck a man in a business suit stopped and asked where the food was going. Thankfully the man said he was going to the same meeting room and he'd help her with a few of the bags. She thanked him and smiled brightly, he merely shrugging it off cooly and saying it was no problem, though inside he was no doubt pleased with himself for helping out a pretty young lady.

They reached the meeting room, he opening the door for her as she stepped in. it looked like the meeting was currently stopped, just in time for lunch break.

Mai looked around the room a bit, it being her first time in such a room. It was very nice and almost made her wish she had somehow found a job in an office.

As her eyes glanced about, she happened to spot someone who looked familiar. her eyes widened slightly upon realizing who it was.

Daddy.

How funny fate was, to send her right to his doorstep like this.

Nate was up front talking to an old man who happened to be the CEO of the architectural firm. The old man was writing some stuff on the board while Nate watched him and asked a couple of questions. It was good to know the right people and be their friends, and with Nate's naturally friendly personality this wasn't a hard task at all. The CEO, however, stopped talking now and began laughing a bit. "Alright, I think I should give you a break. This old man needs to feed." he said as he patted Nate in the back and laughed a bit more. He was a friendly old man.

Nate chuckled as well and turned around to put some papers away. This young aspiring architect was quite hungry for he had skipped breakfast again and the only thing he had in his stomach was a cup of coffee. Sometimes he could really forget about his own feeding from being so focused on his work. Either way, he tried to keep a balance even if he failed most of the times.

The food smelled really good and it reminded him of the restaurant he had gone yesterday with his co-workers. It had been some good food and a really nice environment. He noticed the tag on the food and recognized that it was the same place. Looking ahead, he saw a familiar petite young lady by the food. What was it..? Mae? No.. Hmm.. Mai! smiling a bit more for this had been the third time he had encountered the woman in three days, he decided to approach her.

"Third strike." It was a reference to their third time meeting. Extending out his hand to her to greet, he looked straight at her eyes. He always made eye contact when he spoke to people, that way they would know he wasn't lying and that he was a confident man. "Must be fate if we meet again." he said laughing a bit.

She panicked as she saw him approach her. What was she suppose to say to him? It's not like they were friends or even proper acquaintances. They just keep running into each other.

Without realized it a smile crawled upon her face.

A chuckle left her lips at his words. her hand reached out to grasp his in a hand shake. Her hands were so much smaller then his.

"Uh..yea. I guess so."

She tried to keep her smile simple, however it slowly morphed into a goofy grin as she was happier about their third meeting then she originally thought she was. The idea of fate keep bringing them together really wasn't such a bad idea.

" Ah-um..so you work here?" She said as she glanced around a moment then back to him, " Wow. heh. nice. They must keep you pretty busy here if you can't leave the office to go eat."

She couldn't help but be hypnotized by those amazingly blue eyes of his. it was difficult for her to tear her eyes away.

Raising his eyebrow a bit, Nate asked the young woman a question. "Something wrong? You seem a bit nervous?" he said as he placed his hand back on his pocket as he finished greeting her. The smile still well implanted upon his lips. "Yeah... I'm another architect in this firm, however, if I'm lucky enough I'll manage something bigger than that in a couple of weeks. It isn't usually as busy as this. We rarely have lunch at the office." he replied to her question.

"Oh yes, before I forget. I'm Nathan Bremont. You can call me Nate. Being the third time we encounter I believe it is about time I introduce myself to the mother of my son." he said jokingly. He hoped she didn't take it the wrong way. Since that was pretty much the only piece of information he knew about her, that was his only point of reference. "How's he doing by the way?" His eyes were still very fixed on hers. Like any man would, Nate offered her a seat. Knowing she was also in working hours, he knew he shouldn't be talking too much with her. Plus, he had his own work going on at the moment too.

She could feel a slight blush rise to her cheeks. She let out a nervous chuckle.

"Oh, yes yes. Finally I have something else to call you other then--well yea..."

She laughed rubbing the back of her head. She couldn't help but feel extremely nervous. it had been so long since she last actually bothered to try and hold a conversation with a man.

"Ah yes. Taehyun, my son, is doing great. He's at my friends house right now while I'm at work." She chuckled lightly," he can be quite the handful at times. But what kid his age isn't, right?"

She could feel his eyes on her, just fixed on her. It was nice at first to have such attention, but ti was starting to become to much, to the point she was having a hard time looking him in the eyes. She could feel her palms sweating and her heart beating, she couldn't remember the last time she felt like this towards a guy..well since Taehyun's father.

Her eyes shifted to the chair he offered her.

"Oh, no. I can't really stay. I really shouldn't even be standing here talking to you-"

"Mai," Came John's voice from the hall, he looked pissed, " We have to go."

"Oh, um. Yea, sorry, John, be right there." She gave John an apologetic smile as she turned back to look at Nate.

"Um..well.." another smile pulled at her lips as her deep brown eyes looked into his aqua ones, " Nate...I guess with the way things keep happening, I'll see you around."

She chuckled. She moving to leave the room.

"My bad. I apologize for taking up your time." he said offering an apologetic shy smile. His finally seemed to stop staring at hers and now began wandering off to the man who had called her name. Quickly, he took out his wallet. "Here, it's my contact number. We should meet some time before we meet again by chance." he said letting out a small chuckle. "Oh, and here's the tip. Thank you for the food." Now he handed her a $100 dollar tip. Before he could say anything else, Nate got pulled by one of the other architects who urgently required his opinion and suggestions on a new landscaping design. Even if he didn't look like it, Nate was someone quite important in the office.

The rest of the day went pretty much just as busy. Drawings everywhere, meetings, phone calls, blue prints, buying and ordering materials, brainstorming, conferences, all that in just one day! Nate ended up going home at around midnight. Of course he would be tired the very next day, which probably would be just as busy. Although, there was no space to complain. The man did live for this. His entire life was dedicated to becoming a great architect and all this hard work and sleeping late was just part of it. At the end it would all be worth it with maybe a couple of surprises... Heh.

Mai turned back when she heard Nate speak up again to see he had walked over and was pulling out his wallet. Her left brow raised in question as he proceeded to give her his name card, it had his personal phone number on it. She looked at the name card a moment before he went and also passed her a 100 dollar tip.

Damn~ Wish I had pocket money like that. I'm lucky enough if I've got fifty cents floating around in my purse.

Before she got the chance to say her thank yous he was called away by some of the other men in the room. Mai was beginning to see just how important Nate was. he must be pretty up there for a group of businessmen to be after him for his opinion on something.

John didn't seem to like Nate much. From the kind smile to how friendly he was towards Mai. It was increasing obvious he was jealous, especially with how much Mai seemed interested in him. he roughly grabbed her wrist and lead her out of the room and down the hall.

Mai was shaken from her moment of thought as she was pulled way to leave. She looked over to john, her eyes narrowing as she was annoyed by his actions. Once they reached the elevator she yanked her arm from him and rubbed her wrist with her other hand, he had held her pretty tightly.

"What's your problem?"

"You were flirting with him."

"Was not! How was I-"

"Oh please. batting yur eye lashes, showing off that smile."

"That's how I am towards all the customers John! How else do you think i get the tips I do?" She went and flashed him the 100 bucks that Nate had given her," people like it when you're friendly, maybe you should try it sometime."

"No thanks, I'm not into whoring myself out"

"What the heck!", Mai's blood boiled, "Well screw you John, I don't need to hear this from you. You're still pissed that I turned you down last week."

"What exactly does that scrawny guy got that I don't?"

"For one, manners."
Mai scoffed. She took the bills that made up the tip and gave John half, seeing as he did do half the work, " Tell boss I'll find my own way back to the restaurant, as if I'm gonna get in the same car as you after this."

The elevator doors opened once they reached the lobby floor. She stormed out and left the building, making her way by foot and bus back to the restaurant.

After she had gotten a talk from her boss about her 'misconduct' during the delivery, the rest of the day went by fine. Mai wasn't in the greatest of moods and all she wanted to do while she was at work was to go home and be with her son.

Her shift ended at around 6pm and instead of going home after picking her son up from Machiko's she instead decided for her and her son to spend the night at her dear friend's house. After dinner and her son was tucked into bed and went on and had a few drinks with Machiko as they played a couple rounds of cards and told her about the events today. John's words had really upset her, and it didn't help that John and her boss were buddies so of coarse his word on what happened held more weight then her own version.

Mai however seemed to brighten a little as she went on to tell Machiko about who she happened to meet again. least to say Machiko wanted all the details. This made Mai chuckle.

"So you gonna ask him out?"

Mai gave a shrug as a grin slowly curled the corners of her lips upwards, " I guess, maybe. I mean you know, just to hang out, it's not like either of us really know each other.."

"You should ask him out for drinks tomorrow after your shift."

"I don't know, he's a busy guy. i don't want to disturb him"
That's what she said. However her friend wouldn't hear of it.

"Oh please, if he was worried about you disturbing him, he wouldn't have given you his PERSONAL number."

Mai smiled, thankful that the night ended on a lighter note then it could have.

After making himself a small frozen meal, Nate sat on the couch and saw the news. He actually enjoyed watching them and because he was never at home when they transmitted it, he recorded them. After finishing up his meal and placing it on the kitchen, Nate fell hard on his bed like a rock.

The Next Day, Nate repeated the same process as usual, however, he decided to go to work earlier than usual. It was around the time Mai took Taehyun to Machiko's. The weather was getting colder as they were getting closer to winter. The weather in this town was unpredictable, something that always kept the busy Nate entertained. Always wondering what type of climate shall they have to day. He was the type to enjoy surprises.

With the sudden wrath of the wind, some papers that Nate was carrying were blown away. "No! Dammit!" said the young tall man as he chase after them all over the playground. Luckily, the papers were not going into the street, but instead were going around the entire play area in circles, up and down. Those papers were some new ideas for an art museum in construction. The people around stared at him laughing quietly for it was quite weird to see a well dressed man in a suit run around in such a situation. It would've been better to help him but society now days just rather watch.

If Nate didn't catch those papers ruined, all his hard work from the previous days would be put to waste, plus, he would be late to work. Not that his boss really mind since he was quite the responsible and hard working employee, but still. It was nothing like Nate to be late for anything!

"You know, this is usually why businessmen carry around a briefcase."

Came a familiar voice from behind him. It belonged to none other then Mai. She chuckled at him lightly as she handed him a couple pieces of paper she had managed to pluck from the sky.

She had left home with TaeHyun a little earlier then usual because of her son's persistent begging to go to the playground today and play with the other children. Since Mai had a double today, ti would be dark before she would be able to pick up TaeHyun, so this was the only real time to take him.

"Whaaaaa!! They are flying away!!!" Taehyun laughed and giggled as he ran around trying to catch the flying papers. Managing to nab one or two.

Mai only chuckled at her energetic son before turning her eyes back to Nate.

"It's kinda funny how we keep running into each other like this." She smiled.

"Got it!" Taehyun managed to nab up the last three papers and ran over to his mom when he noticed the guy she stood with, "It's Daddy!"

Mai blushed and looked down at her son.

"Sweety, this isn't daddy. His name his name is Nate. Say hello to Nate, properly."

"Hello Daddy!!"

Mai face palmed and let out a slight chuckle. Her stubborn son will forever be stubborn.

Collecting his papers and putting them back in order, Nate now looked at Mai and Tae Hyun. "I didn't think it would be so windy today." he replied as he gave one last glance at his papers making sure they were in order. "Anyways, thank you. I wouldn't want to spend all night working on these again." said the man with a small smile and a sigh of relief. He fixed his tie and suit. Running around did mess up his clothes a bit.

Hearing the little boy call him daddy, Nate couldn't help but chuckle and smile even wider, then looked back at Mai. "I guess I'm still a dad? It never gets old." he admitted. "Must be fate if we keep meeting like this." he joked. "Do you want to meet up for some coffee later today?" he asked her looking at her with a rather relaxed expression on his face, as if him asking her technically out wasn't a big deal. He just saw it as a meeting with a new acquaintance, nothing bigger than that, however, others might detect it as something else.

Nate looked back at the little boy. "What do you say little guy? Do you give your mom permission to have some coffee with me after work?"
