Walking away from the weird kitchen . . . or whatever it had been, Aksaja looked around, already waiting for the next test. The next ********. He was tired of being alone in the fog, and unwanted thoughts of being intentionally left were beginning to crop up in his mind again. It was entirely possible that the others had all discovered just how useless he was - left him here to wander alone. Except that he knew that at least Sharra had been with him for a while. It was more likely . . . yet another trick of the fog that separated them. He had to believe that, or he would start to go truly mad.
Lost in thought, he walked into a door and flinched back as the wound on his chest started bleeding a bit more. Dammit, where the hell did this thing come from? Prodding it, he stepped back and eyed the obstacle, then took a step to the side to try and go around. And it followed him. "Great. Fine, I'll go through the damn door," he muttered at the fog.
Then suddenly arms were wrapping around him. Small arms, one of them running down an arm to take his hand. A voice. "Don't go. Please. There's still another way. You don't have to do this!" He jerked, trying to turn around, trying to see. But the arms tightened, and his found his gaze locked to the door. He didn't know what was behind it, but it felt like an ending. As if on the other side, there was nothing. And the voice, the feel of the small body behind him, pleading with him . . . Jack. He wasn't sure, but . . .
"I'm not going," he murmured, hoping that the voice was who he thought it was - and at the same time, fervently hoping that it wasn't. That he wasn't trapped in this fog somewhere too.
"Then you'll stay with me?"
"Yes . . . " he replied softly. Or at least, he would keep the other with him. That was more or less the same thing, right? He heard a happy sort of sigh and the arms tightened around him. He started to turn around . . .
And everything vanished. "DAMMIT!!" he screamed, stumbling at the suddenly lack of pressure on him and nearly falling to the ground. "WHY?! WHAT IS THE JACKDAMNED POINT OF ALL OF THIS??!!!!"

This was it.
The doorway, the pathway down into the darkness, gaped just beyond his toes as he stood, the fog around him clearing blissfully. There was a finality to that doorway, the stairs descending into Jack knew what. If Sharra were to go down those stairs, just what would he find? More Insanity perhaps, lying in wait with something more sinister than a kooky coal-black chef, or an unidentified death. But to go back was simply not an option. He could not fight his way back through the fog now...there was only onwards.
Taking a slow, calming breath inwards, one echoed by the rise and fall of his spines, the nergal boil took the first step down...and began to descend fearlessly into the darkness.
He would not damn himself by looking back.

Oh look, another thing in front of him that seemed to indicate he could leave this Jackdamned foggy hell. Of course, it also seemed to imply that he would perhaps be going somewhere worse. But at this point, who cared? Aksaja was tired of wandering aimlessly and enduring what he assumed were tests and tricks.
"Here we go," the lightning dragon muttered, stepping into the stairway.
