THE xxDemon watched the child as he stood gazing out of the window after blatantly refusing the food before him. Apparently, he saw Altais' way of welcome as nothing but an elevated form of mockery -- such interesting creatures, were humans. When Kian told Altais he wanted to see his mother alone, the assassin simply nodded and began stacking the plates -- after all, he had no need to eat; he had just been doing so to encourage Kian to partake in some nutrition. It wouldn't do Altais any good if the child died of malnourishment before their time was at an end. And though Kian had been nothing but rude, Altais hardly took offense.

What was one to expect when their mother had died and they had sold their soul? Feeling a smile stretch his lips, Altais collected the remainder of the food and took it down to the kennels kept on the level above the bilge, feeding both hound and hawk the remnants of their dinner. The animals were of the best quality -- in fact, Altais had started the bloodlines some hundred years ago, and he was pleased to note that the boys had been keeping the hounds groomed and the raptors healthy. After the plates were just about empty, he returned them to the kitchens and headed back up to the suite, figuring enough time had passed for Kian to get his head on straight.

The boy needed some sort of outlet, but aside from ******** him, the Demon had no idea what might help. He supposed he would just allow the night to play out and simply observe the child; figure out his habits, his quirks, try to delve into his personality a bit more. He was sure somewhere inside, Kian needed to be accepted by someone, now that his mother had passed on, but Altais assumed -- correctly, he imagined -- that Kian was too filled with anger at the moment to realize it. The Demon knocked before entering and slipped inside, finding Kian standing once more out the window, into the sea of stars. His eyes traveled over the child's form for a moment before the assassin turned away, striding into his room. He let out a gentle sigh and began stripping his rain-soaked clothes, pulling out a pair of calfskin breeches -- dyed black, of course -- and slipped into them. He sat down at his vanity, inspecting the countless scars and burn marks covering his torso and shoulders, turning to see the jagged claw marks and lashes from whips on his back.

The Demon simply smiled to himself at the fond memories and opened the only drawer in the vanity, pulling out a long, black strip of silk. Altais tied it around his head, ensuring both eyes were completely concealed -- he didn't want to draw Kian into the madness if he happened to lust for blood or something else -- and after double-checking it, returned to the sitting room, bare feet sinking into the plush carpets underfoot. He lay down on one of the couches, the leather cool against his bare back, and studied Kian for several minutes before speaking. "If you've any intention of vengeance, Kian, we need to discuss things to put some plots in motion. This will take years, probably, and the sooner we begin, the quicker you'll be able to return to the world of the living. Not to mention you'll find some ambition and will be able to focus on something else besides your mother, may the Gods watch over her." He saw Kian's shoulders stiffen, but then boy turned from the window to face him. The child's eyes widened when he saw the myriad scars and burns on his chiseled chest and abdomen, and Altais waved a hand. "Plenty of good stories here, if you'd care to hear them one day, young Master. But it is your decision -- as it will always be -- on what we do next. All I may make are suggestions, and you do not have to listen to them if you're not so inclined."

Altais figured that giving Kian control in the beginning stages of their relationship would be the best thing for the child -- clearly, he had lost whatever little say he had had in his life, and getting control back would assure him that a sense of normalcy could be regained, even if being Contracted with a Demon wasn't exactly. . .normal. As Kian thought, Altais took the time to fully take in his new Catalyst. He was fairly tall for his age, and he was slender, but had clearly seen work in his life. He was leanly-toned, and the bare shoulder revealed by a robe slightly too big made Altais force himself to drag his gaze away, thankful the blindfold hid his eyes entirely from anyone looking in. One day, the child might warm up to him. Or not. Either way, Altais did need to press him and see where he stood sexually -- it was one of the quickest and easiest ways for him to gather power to use for the child's goal. The emotions released during coupling always fueled his energy tank, so to speak, and with all the anger this kid harbored, it'd be a veritable feast for Altais. He felt a smile turn up the corners of his lips at the thought, and regretfully set his mind back on track.

"Do you have an idea of how you would like to proceed, Kian?"

Kian had simply stood, staring down at his mother's body. Truth be told, he didn't really want to see her dead. He wouldn't ever decide to think on his mother's ending in life, but more about how she was when they were together, healthy and happy. Still... he looked upon her face, pretending she was simply just sleeping. Though even in sleep, there was something so much more to the state she was in now. It was heavy, too still. Dead was dead. Kian couldn't shake that. Curiously, he moved closer, clocking his head to the side, chewing his bottom lip as he went. He lifted his hand, giving it pause right above her cheek. Softly, he pressed his long fingers against her cold flesh. She felt...hard. Still, he traced down her shoulder, wincing as she didn't react to being lightly traced over her tickle spots. He stepped back, staring at her for a long time, not truly seeing, but understanding. She didn't care anymore. There was no one in this life she hated, no one she loved. Dead was dead. Everything Kian did now, he did for himself. It was originally under the guise of his mother, but now he came to understand. It was never about her. It had always been about him. Yes, it was painful to lose the first woman he'd ever loved, but she was set free of the shackles of life, the limitations of reality. Where she was now -- she didn't care about this life.

Everything was now Kian's decisions, and his alone.

He felt lighter suddenly, as he walked back into the sitting room. He'd waited patiently for Altais to come back. He stood in the corner, staring out at the night's sky, with his arms folded over his chest in a protective manner.

He didn't flinch when he heard the other finally enter and go about whatever he went about when he could. It was a strange realization suddenly to Kian. He didn't know this ...man? Was that even appropriate? Yet here he was, forced to be with him for the rest of his life, only to give himself entirely to him. It was a bit...sobering. Kian had been so blinded by rage that he really hadn't stopped to think about what he'd just done. He wanted power, he wanted vengeance, but now that he felt his mother truly didn't want this, what was he to do now? He could easily kill the ones who had wronged him, and that'd be fine. He could go to a horrid death for that. Though... one question was still plaguing him. And it was plaguing hard.

He turned abruptly, his mouth open, ready to ask the question, despite the fact that Altais was already speaking, when he noticed the scars. It was a short, insignificant moment of shock. Kian could care less about the scars on the man's body. If anything, he'd only allowed the smallest of reaction in out of disbelief that a being such as a demon couldn't heal completely. It was astonishingly humanizing. Though, his own question was tucked away for a different moment, as new questions came about from the matter at hand.

"Return to the living?" he asked, even after hearing Altais detail he'd tell him about the scars if he cared, though Kian...didn't care, at least he didn't then. "And I think you have me pegged wrong. I've ambition, and it certainly doesn't surround my mother. She's dead. Nothing will change that. And one day I'll be dead too, so pray-tell, what ambition is there truly for me at this point?" He knew he had been arguing like a child. He'd said one thing when they first met, and now was saying another. Though it didn't matter to him. He was at least figuring it all out, and that's all that mattered.

Kian started pacing in front of the window. It was a dirty habit he disliked quite frankly. He hated it when he saw any noble pacing the castle in a hissy, but here he was, doing the same. "And no, I've no idea of how I want to proceed right now. Please allow me to reiterate that I'm a fifteen year old boy who just lost his mother and everything he's ever known, some demon shows up, agrees to help me because clearly, we all know I'm too helpless to do anything by myself. I comprehend that. I've no illusions of grandeur. Oh but his price was that one day he devour my soul, because everything comes with a price. That's how this world works, so now your price is to ******** stop talking down to me and realize you probably made the biggest mistake in your own damn existence, but the kicker is that you don't even care! Because one day I'll be rid from your existence and I'll be gods know where as you get to just continue slowly preying on anyone else as foolish as myself!"

And there it was, his question that he'd been burning to ask, yet too afraid to even speak about. He finally fell to his knees, the rage finally being replaced with the fears and trepidations that a proper youth should feel. Tears, despite what he wished, began slipping from his eyes, tracing down his soft jawline. He brought his hands to cover his face, trying his best to sob as quietly as he could, but they shook through him, releasing so much pent up passion, anger, fear that he oddly felt...better, despite being so aggravated with himself for breaking down so, in front of a demon who could care less. So he did as best as he could, he forced himself to stop crying, though he wouldn't bring his gaze to meet that blindfold. It only irritated him to see that accessory on the demon's face anyway. Ashamed and utterly exposed, with no where to run, Kian just sat on the floor, wishing this was just some nightmare he could wake up from.

OOC: I had no idea if the room where his mother is, is located in the suit or not >> so. If it wasn't I totally botched that up, but meh.

OH xx, Child." Altais saw the pain in Kian's eyes, saw the fear and the uncertainty there -- much like his eyes had looked, when Alston had taken him in, he was sure. Altais moved from the couch onto the floor fluidly and wrapped his arms around Kian's small shoulders. I was once human too, you know. Just like you -- family dead, with nothing but hate in my heart. He couldn't tell Kian that, of course, at least not yet, but the least he could do was offer comfort when needed, even if it wasn't wanted. If the child wanted to push him away, he could try, but a Demon's grip was nothing if not strong, and he would simply hold on.

Kian needed -- desperately needed -- some sort of comfort, of normalcy, of knowing that even though he had sold his soul, he wasn't a bad person and it wasn't necessarily wrong. But how could he even say all that without the child laughing in his face or calling him an outright liar? No, best wait until they had formed a sort of trust until he truly told Kian what he once was and is now. And as much as the beast within him hated to admit it, he felt pity and sympathy for Kian. He had been exactly, exactly like him, some two-hundred years past. And Alston had saved him from that all-consuming hate, had given him a reason and purpose. Perhaps. . .even if he was a Demon, maybe he could offer the same. There was no rule saying you had to be entirely apathetic to your Catalyst, anyway.

Altais slipped his long legs around either side of the boy's hips and pulled him against his torso, wordlessly offering a shoulder to cry on -- one without judgement or ridicule. Maybe, one day, depending on how the two got along, he could even make the child his pupil, just as Alston had Turned Altais. But would he wish that on anyone? . . .Maybe, if it saved them, like it had him. Without speaking, the Demon simply kept his arms around Kian, almost too afraid to move in fear the child would push him away and scream at him. He knew what he was feeling -- he truly did, he had been there himself, once upon a time. And that. . .that was strange. Any Catalyst he had had since Turning he didn't care about, but somehow this blue-eyed boy had burrowed into him like a parasite and began sucking at those human emotions he had so long ago suppressed.

The assassin let out a gentle sigh and closed his eyes, promising himself that when Kian was ready, he would tell him exactly what he was, and that Kian wasn't going to the Nine Hells, and that someday, when he passed on, he could join his mother in the Realm of the Gods. No, Demons were not as bad as they were made out to be. Altais felt a faint stirring in his chest and frowned, confused and a bit worried, before he realized what it was: desire. Not a desire of lust, but a desire to. . .to help Kian, more than a Demon assisting their Catalyst to attain their goal, more than just simply helping him in his quest for vengeance. No, he wanted to look after this child, keep him safe from any harm but himself. And in the future, when the time drew near, he would decide whether or not to consume him. But that was years away, and for now, he was simply content to allow the small shred of humanity left within his breast to take over for now. Just for tonight, maybe. Then, if Kian didn't respond well to it, he could go back to what he had become.

Kian didn't have time to compose some insult, or the strength to push the other away. He took those arms regardless of the confusion he felt about the one attached to them and buried his face into the man's neck, sobbing once more, clinging to skin that felt so familiar, though very foreign. He hated this! He hated everything he was doing! Yet his tears continued to pour from his eyes like rain from the sky. His body shook as he clung desperately to the other, no longer caring about how this demon saw him now. Too late anyway.

Kian couldn't shake that the other had ulterior motives to his behavior though, perhaps it was true, or perhaps it was just the walls surrounding Kian that made him want to believe that it was true. Still, he just continued to cry. His throat burned from his sobs, and his eyes stung as they swelled from the onslaught of salty water he produced. He realized now just how truly exhausted he was. He had been battling each day, each night with nothing but a sharp tongue and a glare. He'd talked down would-be criminals that meant him and his mother harm, and he stole from vendors with the bat of his thick eye lashes. It had slowly worn on him. Everything just was draining and he couldn't take it anymore! He slowly started to not even have the energy to cry.

He pulled away from the demon, sniffling like a puppy and wiping at his tears. "I just....I just want to sleep." His voice was raw and his inflections cracked despite the quiet tone he used. He wiped at another tear that straggled behind the others. "I have a headache."

It confused him greatly still. This...creature having to submit to him, to convenience him. Where was the fun in that? Why did demons have to sell themselves for human petty desires? Weren't they so much more powerful? Why did they have to waste their time? Worst of all, why did they have to torture children like Kian with welcoming arms and gentle faces. It wasn't fair... To dangle the obtainable right in his face, just barely out of reach. A sinking feeling found its way into Kian's stomach, as well as a growl of hunger. He sorely wished he hadn't been such a fool about the food before. Though, he could put up with his need to eat. Sleep was something he wanted more than anything at this point. He needed a night to just...go numb and forget about everything that had happened today. He just wanted to forget, if only for a moment.

ALTAIS xxfelt something buried deep within him stir as the boy graciously accepted his wordless offer of comfort, his breath and tears hot against the curve of his neck. Closing his eyes, the Demon slipped a hand into Kian's hair, slender digits gently running through blue locks. The assassin rocked slowly as the child cried himself out, saying not a word, making not a sound -- simply being there when Kian needed someone the most. As the boy's sobs quieted and his breath slowed, Altais allowed Kian to pull away, though he remained seated where he was, in front of the child.

Kian sniffled and wiped at a tear, his voice cracking on his words. A small, sad smile graced Altais' lips, and for a moment, he looked entirely human -- much like an elder brother would when a younger sibling's heart had broken. He could see that the boy was lost still, and a lone, final tear tracked its way down his cheek. The man reached out and wiped it away with the back of his forefinger. Tired and a headache, and hunger if the growl of his stomach was any judge. "I have a medicine that will ease your head, if you'd like it. It tastes a bit bitter, but I could make it into a tea and mix some honey in -- nothing good for you ever tastes good, as they say." Altais ruffled Kian's hair and stood gracefully, walking over to the small kitchenette on the far side of the sitting room. He opened a cabinet and grabbed the jar of dried herbs he had spoken of, as well as a strainer, and set to making a cup of tea for the child.

"You may sleep in my room this evening -- the linens were all freshly washed today. If you'd like, Kian, I shall sit with you until you fall asleep, or I can add something to the tea to ensure that you sleep well and that nightmares will not plague you, if you're prone to them." Knowing that he wouldn't have to worry about his nature overwhelming him for the rest of the night, Altais loosened his blindfold so it was draped loosely about his neck, revealing his eyes as he waited for the water to boil. The tall man stooped and opened a drawer, withdrawing some dried jerky and fruits, as well as a fresh round of bread and cheese from an icebox. He set the finger-food on a small, modest plate -- this one chipped and cracked, but still functional -- and carried it over to Kian. He set the plate on the low table and offered the boy a smile -- this one entirely genuine. "I was honestly a bit overwhelmed myself by the whole set up earlier. This type of dinner makes me feel a bit more at home, really."

Altais left Kian to eat or not as he chose and returned to the stove, finding the water rolling and the color a rich brown from the leaves. He took the pot off of the fire, waved a hand to put out the flame, and grabbed an earthern-ware mug from a shelf, pouring both honey and tea into the cup and stirring gently. "This is only willowbark for your headache, Kian. If you'd like something to sleep, just let me know before you retire and I'll make something for you, alright?" He set the mug down as he reached the table, taking a seat on the chaise lounge set against the wall. "I know things are confusing and rough for you right now, but I will always be here if you need questions answered or simply someone to talk to."

He wouldn't say any more on the subject -- they were still too new to each other, and he didn't think Kian would be able to comprehend that he wanted to help without some malicious intent behind the offer. Not yet, anyway. So Altais was content to simply see to the boy's needs until the time came.

Kian hadn't recoiled as the hand had extended to wipe off a tear. The warmth of Altais' hand was comforting, a silent acceptance Kian was quite thankful for. Then again, it could have all been for show. Kian still wasn't sure.

He simply nodded at the mention of a tea to sooth his head. He felt like all he ever did now was cry. First the anguish of slowly watching his mother die, and then losing even himself. It was still an unsettling feeling. Kian belonged to himself, yet he didn't. The lines were blurred and unfamiliar. He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to distract himself from the thoughts as they trickled in like a stream. It was too much to think about right now. He was just so tired.

He smoothed out his hair, trying to fix the damage from the other ruffling it up. He honestly hated that kind of gesture more than anything. Kian in general, didn't like to be talked down to, made smaller, or anything condescending in fact. But, he remained silent on the issue, feeling that now wasn't the time for snappy comments or shrinking away. This demon...this...Altais, was all he had left now.

Kian noticed the few chips in the serving plate, but was much more apt to eat off it than the lavish dinner from before. Simplicity was really anything Kian had ever wanted. Anything showy just seemed to set his mood on fire. He nibbled at some jerky, watching Altais prepare the tea. "If it overwhelmed you, why'd you do it?" Such a simply question suddenly after so much. It was almost foreign out of Kian's own mouth. His tongue slid against the back of his teeth as he reevaluated what he'd said. Could they truly just have a simple conversation? It seemed so strange, a human and a demon chit chatting over tea and cheese.

He accepted the cup of tea, sipping on it lightly, feeling the warmth glide down to his stomach. "I won't have any trouble sleeping... You may want to even poke me a few times to make sure I don't accidentally die from it. Can't have you going starved now," Kian joked with a shy smile. While the joke inevitably reminded him of his demise, he tried to keep strong. There was no sympathy from the devil. At least...that's what Kian presumed.

He took another bite of jerky, following it with some cheese. If he had to live off one food item for the rest of his life, it would be cheese. The texture, flavor and the way it just melted in your hand, softening a bit all was delightful to Kian. Some found him weird for adoring cheese so much, but quite frankly, he didn't give a damn.

HE xxblinked at Kian's questions, the boy's voice drawing him out of his thoughts. Why had he done it? Probably to welcome him, really. "Ah. To be honest, it was made as a gesture of goodwill, I suppose." The Demon smiled with chagrin. "From my limited experience, young boys are usually wowed by opulence and grandeur, no matter the circumstance. I had done it to say, in a way, that whatever you need I will always provide, as long as we are together, Kian." It seemed to Altais that the child preferred the Demon using his name as opposed to 'Little Lord' or 'Young Master,' so he had gone with it the last few interactions.

"Granted, already you're far different than most young boys, save for one I knew long ago." Altais smiled and stretched out his legs, turning on his side to better speak with Kian, ensuring they would be able to make eye contact. Yes, Kian was much like the boy he had been when Alston had first met him. Altais smiled warmly at the memory, and then Kian's words reached him. He couldn't help it; he laughed -- and this time, it was a warm, rich sound of amusement, as opposed to the lilting insanity of his previous mirth. "Kian, that moment is far from us right now; we've only just begun our journey together." The smile faded from the assassin's eyes, and his words were low, soft. "But I promise you this; no harm shall come to you, natural or intended, while we are together. I'll always protect you as long as I am by your side."

He would let Kian make what he would of that statement -- he was sure Kian's thoughts behind why he said it would be entirely different from the truth. And while yes, in a way, he would keep Kian safe to ensure he would gain his soul in the end -- if he did choose to consume it -- he also decided that there was something different inside of Kian, and he wanted to keep him safe from any sort of harm to ensure that it blossomed and allowed Kian to grow.

Kian nibbled at some fruit listening to the other explain his reasoning for the superfluous dinner...of which now Kian was feeling bad for having not eaten. He hoped it didn't all go to waste. There were so many in this world who were starving for food.

He pulled his legs under him, his robe falling a bit off his shoulder, exposing a bit of his chest. Being enveloped in the robe, he felt almost like a baby instead of a young adult. He stopped eating, his stomach churning a bit as another wave of reality checks swooped in on him. "Doesn't mean I won't think about it from this day forward," he said softly, in part really to himself, but he was sure the other could hear.

At the last statement, Kian rolled his eyes, dismissing the sentence with his hand. "Yes yes, by my side, protect, together. I get it. You don't have to constantly remind me I've got a built in shadow that walks and talks, or the fact that you've got a built in brat. And I recognize I'm quite a brat." He offered a crooked grin, deciding he'd had enough of the food and stood up to stretch. He stifled a yawn with a hand and turned to look out the window again.

"Can we go somewhere in your ship sometime?" He craned his neck to try to see all he could left, right, up and down as he observed the world from this window. There was so much he'd never seen, so much he'd never do. He sighed, watching his breath fog up the window for a moment before it slowly vanished. He turned back around, wearing his usual blank, unreadable face once more.

"How big is your bed?"

THE xxDemon's glacial eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly as the hem of the robe slipped down Kian's shoulder, revealing a smooth slice of his chest. His pupils followed the line from shoulder to clavicle to pectoral hungrily, the child's unblemished skin begging for it to be torn and stained red. Squinting and blinking several times, feeling a dull aching throb beginning behind his eyes, Altais turned his head, looking down at the pattern in the carpet, feeling the arcane symbol in his right eye begin to pulse. The Demon took his tongue between his teeth and bit down -- but not enough to draw blood, for that would send him over the edge -- to ground himself to the pain, drawing his mind away from Kian's body.

After composing himself and deeming himself fit to answer, the assassin shrugged at the boy's comment. "Whether you think about it or not is irrelevant at this point, really." Either it will happen or it won't, and all will be decided by the choices you make on our journey together. Kian's words caused anger to flare deep in the Demon's breast, and though he forced it down, his eyes still smouldered for a moment. Well, at least the point was driven home -- no way the kid could conveniently forget about the Contract like some of the other ones. Seeing Kian stand and walk over to the window, Altais levered himself into a sitting position, hooking his thumbs under his blindfold before pulling it up to cover his eyes. The more the world was painted in monotony, the less he would be inclined to give in to his baser urges.

"Of course, Kian. We may go wherever you wish. If there's one thing I will never refuse, it's taking the Adder out for any reason. He offered a smile as the child turned back around to face him, though Kian's expression was once again a blank mask. His question caused Altais to frown slightly, but he was obliged to answer. "Big enough for four people to sleep in it comfortably. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting comfortable, even if you sprawl." The eyes behind his blindfold were narrowed, his pupils narrow slits amidst a sea of ice.

Kian nodded as he listened to Altais speak of his bed, watching as the man had slipped back on his blindfold. He raised a smooth brow, inwardly asking just why the demon took it on and off and on and off, but decided he really didn't care too much at the present. He rolled on his feet for a second, looking about the room, really getting to see it for the first time since he'd been brought here.

He'd had so much rage before, though, it wasn't gone. Just...accepting, tolerating what was going on at this point. Kian could still feel the bullet in his chest, slowly driving through him, making him slowly insane. "Hm, that's unfortunate. Large beds make me so very lonely..." A small glint in his eyes were the only indication of anything going on inside that brain. Though, he had a plan. With his anguish and rage softly tucked away, he was finally able to really use the brain the gods had given him. He'd seen the look, he saw the way the other would look him over.

He pulled at the neck of the robe, exposing a bit more of his chest before settling it back on him properly, though a shoulder still found its way out. "I wouldn't be so lucky as to ask if you had any sleeping garments that would actually fit me?"

ALTAIS xxstood from the lounge, his head tilted to the side at the boy's words and actions. He was clearly implying something humans never generally considered with his kind, and the Demon was, by default, wary when it came to those who were so forward. The child clearly had a motive of some kind, though Altais couldn't quite grasp it. Mentally shrugging to himself, the Demon weaved through his furniture until he stood before Kian, perhaps four inches away, looking down at him, slender hands hidden in the back pockets of his breeches. The added weight dragged the hem of the supple calfskin down, revealing the sharp angles of his -- surprise -- scarred hips.

Altais stood there for a moment, looking down at the child, a hundred possibilities and courses of action whirling in yawning pit inside of him. Didn't the child know that sex was one of the biggest ways Demons received their Power? Or was that not common knowledge anymore? Ah, but perhaps he should simply ignore the child's cute little tantrums and play ignorant -- see what came of that. Or he could simply respond in a way and see where that took them. Altais raked a fang over his lower lip in thought before making a low sound in the back of his throat followed by a laugh. He shook his head and turned away from Kian, withdrawing a hand from his back pocket and motioning for the kid to follow him into his bed chamber. The man stopped in front of the wardrobe and opened it with a mock-flourish before stepping aside, allowing Kian to browse the fine clothes within.

"There are plenty of night clothes there that would fit you much better than what I previously offered. You may, of course, have your choice in the garments within, and tomorrow I shall have the tailor come see you to take measurements so that you might have your own clothing within a day or two, Kian." While the child picked through the extra clothes, Altais leaned his back against one of the floor-to-ceiling posts that anchored a corner of his bed to the floor, corded arms crossed over his chest, expression unreadable behind his blindfold.

Yes, it would be interesting to see how the night would play out, indeed.

Kian watched as the man evaluated him a bit too closely, though Kian kept his face unreadable, and his mouth at a lax position, giving out no information about anything going on within his mind. Once the man moved back, Kian simply yawned. Though, Kian did become curious to know if this man was just dotted in scars and healed lacerations from top to bottom. Why not the face though? Did people really actually avoid his face? They seemed to be going for everything else!

Kian followed Altias into the bedroom, his gaze soaking up that giant bed. It looked so warm. He could probably fall asleep there and never wake up. Didn't seem to bad though... That bed was gorgeous! Kian moved over to the wardrobe, picking out silken garments to wear and going behind the screen to disrobe and then put on the sleeping garments.

He came out, straightening the loose fitting shirt with its plunging v neck, showing off his pectoral muscles. He pursed his lips, feeling like this too, was swallowing him whole. He wasn't scrawny by any means, but he was rather like a bean stock, much taller than he was wide.

Kian pressed down on the feather mattress, testing it out a bit before jumping up and burrowing under the covers. He curled in on himself, feeling the exhaustion hit him hard over the head like a wave crashing down in the ocean. He brought up his knees into his chest so that he was in the fetal position with his eyes closed and simply said, "Good night."

ALTAIS xxsmiled as Kian burrowed into the goose-down comforters and curled in on himself, and he let out a small sigh. Now he wouldn't be tempted by the child's generous show of skin, and he could sit quietly and think while Kian got some rest. That was a good thing about his kind -- they never needed sleep, though they could partake in it when desired. Unless, of course, they were injured, in which they needed to fall into a sleep-like state to recover. Generally, even scars healed, but as Altais was not fully Demon, the finalization of the process was lost to him.

The assassin stretched his arms over his head and let out a satisfied groan before padding over to his wing-backed armchair beside the head of the bed -- also bolted to the floor, as was everything else on the Adder. He stood before it for a moment, glacial eyes studying Kian's face in the glow of candlelight from the sconces on the walls of the chamber. They were magelight -- real fire was not allowed on the ship -- and Altais changed their color from a flame-orange to a darker blue. With a wave of his hand, he snuffed out all but one, leaving Kian light to see by in case he awoke in the night. Satisfied, Altais sank down into the plush chair, resting his right ankle on his left knee, and watched the sleeping form of Kian.

He would have to gather some information on the child and his mother to see exactly who his father had been, and why they had gotten booted from wherever they had been staying. He figured he could simply call up one of his Brothers tomorrow, after he took care of getting Kian some of his own clothes made. Once he found that out, he and Kian could begin to formulate a plan, but if Kian wanted to not only kill them, but shame them, then there would be a lot of work ahead of him. Altais untied the knot below his occipital bone and the silk strip of cloth fluttered down to rest in his lap. He didn't mind the work at all, though, not really. And perhaps he could begin drawing power from Kian -- he could forcibly take the child, but that would most likely be counter-productive. Although a little initiative never hurt. The Demon absently wound the silk around his right wrist and the meat of his thumb, knotting it flawlessly with one hand on the inside of his palm. Flexing his fingers to ensure the knot held, the assassin stood and stretched a final time before slipping under the goosedown comforter.

He lay on his side, blue eyes glowing faintly in the near-darkness as he watched Kian. He looked forward to the day when he would be able to tell the child about his past -- how he was once a kid like him, and the opportunity that was given to him. Depending on how the two bonded as time went on, he might not want to consume Kian's soul if he had the makings of a protege, and if that were the case, then he wouldn't mind it too much. The Demon closed his eyes, ensured that he would not move near to the child in the event he fell asleep for fear of startling him, and allowed his mind to drift in the dark hours of the night.

Kian had slept like a corpse throughout the night. He sat up, stretching and stifling a yawn, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He panicked a bit as he looked around, not knowing where he was till it all set in once more. He saw Altais sleeping next to him, smiling a bit. 'So he did get the hint.' Kian didn't like the dark and being alone at the same time. It was the one thing that he was quite afraid of. Unfamiliar places, dark surrounds...being alone... it just made him think of things he'd rather not dwell upon anymore.

He scratched at the back of his head, going to smooth down his hair that he was sure looked as if he'd been sleeping upside like a bat for most of the night. No matter what kind of pillow, no matter how light or heavy the sleep, Kian always woke up with extreme cases of bed hair. He rolled out of bed, tip-toeing to the bathroom to go about his morning business. In the bathroom, he looked into the mirror, smoothing out his hair a bit more, looking more than disgruntled when it just didn't want to cooperate.

He finished up his business in the restroom before returning to the bedroom as quietly as he could. He hopped back onto the bed, enjoying its lush pillows, staring up at the ceiling over the covers. The airship was at least exciting, even if the situation was still a bit more than awkward. He absent-mindedly tapped his big toes together, thinking back on the night before and everything that led up to him sleeping next to a man he barely knew in a ship he'd only seen from a distance before.

ALTAIS xxopened his eyes, feeling the child crawl back into the bed, and he felt a small smile grace his lips. He yawned widely, white fangs glinting in the weak sunlight filtering through the curtains. Sitting up, the assassin lifted his arms over his head, the muscles on his bare torso stretching as he let out a satisfied noise. The man ran his fingers through his hair a few times before giving his head a good shake, and his hair fell into it's usual style.

"Good morning, Kian." The Demon knuckled his eyes and let out a sigh, looking forlornly at the window. Morning always seemed to come far too soon whenever he actually decided to rest. And it was nice last night, falling asleep with someone for company there. He could understand why Kian had desired his company throughout the dark hours. Altais rose from the bed and strode out into the Sitting Room, opened the door and spoke quietly to the young boy sitting against the wall in the hallway. The child nodded enthusiastically and scampered off, leaving a smile on the assassin's face as he returned to Kian. "A breakfast of fruits and sweetmeats will be brought up in half a candlemark, and the tailor shall be up perhaps a full hour after that, which leaves you some time to relax and get comfortable if you desire, young Master."

Altais strode over to the window in the bedroom and pulled the curtains aside, revealing an overcast day with dark thunderheads perhaps twenty miles distant. His eyes narrowed behind his blindfold, and he turned his head to speak over his shoulder. "You may put on another robe this morning if you desire, Kian -- the tailor will leave you with some altered clothing until your outfits can be made. A heavy storm seems to be on its way here, so if you'd like to go out anywhere today, I strongly suggest we do so immediately after the tailor leaves, as the storm looks as if it'll last through the entire day." The Demon turned from the window, letting the curtains fall to cover the Alchemic glass -- it'd do no good to have windows breaking on an airship -- once more. He offered the boy a smile as a knock sounded on the door. He exited the room, calling back over his shoulder, "That'll be breakfast. Come on out when you're ready, Kian."
