He grumbled the slightest bit, not wanting to leave her all alone, though sleep and rest did sound nice.....Sleep was starting to take him, especially with her being calming and relaxing. Daja finally gave a sigh, giving in to a light slumber. Eventually he'd have to sync to her schedule, especially once the kits were born, but for now he could do what he could for her.

Bella breathed in his scent, it at least was enough to give her the strength to move. She sat up, flexed her wings, and let her eyes adjust to the pitch. She often worried about his warmth at night. Of course, him being the hot-blooded male he was discouraged her at times for being too hot. So, she wasn't too sure if she needed to worry about it at all.
It was becoming winter and there was a snap in the air. If they were back at the "hen house," as she so deemed the den back home, she could guarantee their safety. Yet, she couldn't bring herself to be left exposed to them either. Bella sighed, trying to shake the "clucking" out her head. She didn't want to be cooed at, let alone poked in her belly. Bella had enough of uncomfortable movement from the inside to worry about external prodding.

Daja slept peacefully through the night, not even tossing or turning. He dreamed of lands far beyond their own, of a world that he could observe and relax in. Such a thing, however, wouldn't exist when he awoke, and of that he was aware. He had no need to worry of the woman who remained in the waking world. Bella would awaken him if there was a problem, if she couldn't handle herself. He had no doubt that she could.
It was hours later that he finally returned to the world, breathing in deeply before getting to his feet. He had no need to say anything, simply observing what was going on.

Bella wished she could share the nightlife with Daja. He missed all the wonders that weren't visible during the day. Well, aside of the crickets. Bella detested crickets. She wanted to show him the fireflies down by the lakes and rivers. Then, there were the stars. Oh, and the nights where they would fall. She, honestly, had no idea if Daja had ever seen a meteor shower. Well, she was going to show him. And, looked forward to sharing all of them with him in the future.
Perhaps, that was the naivete from being so newly together. She didn't really care. Bella was happy and for once at peace.
The night was quiet for the most part. The ambiance of the nocturnal world was abuzz. Bella could make out the soft moonlit curtain of the willow as it swayed gently in the breeze.
She thought about finding Daja something nice for breakfast, but worried that something would happen had she left.
So she waited... and waited... and waited...
Over the crest of the horizon rose the morning sun. Great it was morning, lovely, she thought. Bella grimaced as another beautiful night wasted. But she wasn't alone.
It wasn't often she got to spend a night with someone. In fact, she couldn't ever recall a time. Daja was the first, yet she prayed that it would be only he that she could spend it with.
She yawned; feigning sleep. Trying to keep it at bay as she felt Daja stir. When he stood she merely gave him a very sleepy smile. "Time to pass the baton," she whispered. Bella tugged his ear before settling down and blocking out the god-awful light of the diurnal world.

He gave a gruff sigh, throat sore from the thirst of waking. He didn't seem to mind as she settled down, though took his sweet time waking up. He really did have to adjust this schedule of sleeping. He didn't like spending the day alone, and was quite sure she felt the same. Nonetheless, he had a mission to do. Keep Bella and his children...no their children, fed. Luckily it seemed there were plenty of opportunities nearby. He wasn't about to abandon her after all!
And thus, when the sun fell once more, a rather large and well organized platter of berries, and even a fish, lay before the eyes of the waking female. He had dozed a while before, taking a nap in the warm sun, so that he might just enjoy part of the night with her. He nudged a few towards her. "I know you're hungry." He encouraged, grinning the slightest bit.

She stretched and yawned. The days were getting shorter which meant the night life would be more active. As her eyes readjusted to the setting sun, it wasn't too difficult to see the deep set rings on Daja's handsomely red face; nearly ruddying it. Bella pawed his forehead, "Seems you've had a trying day," she said quietly.
She glanced over the feast and smiled. It had certainly been a while since she had had fish, especially fresh fish. "You certainly know how to treat a lady." Bella snickered. She wanted to be fair with it, but those berries simply smelled delicious. The small round blues ones were her favorites and eagerly ate them up. It was terribly hard to find them ripe these days.
Sliding some over to Daja, she didn't want to make a pig of herself. Bella didn't realize how hungry she was.
The moon rose high over that distant tree line with the air growing ever-crisp. Like the previous, there was definitive snap to it. Bella snuggled up to Daja; a little chilled herself that evening.
"Perhaps, we should search for some better shelter..." she thought aloud, catching wisps of her breath in the air.NOVEMBER POINTS

Daja smirked a little more as her paw touched his face. "Oh I'm fine, trust me darling." He seemed even more thrilled when she ate, proud that he had been able to support her. "I got a nap earlier...Perhaps we can enjoy the moonlight together for once."
He raised an eyebrow at her as she slid over the food. "Are you sure? You are eating for more than yourself, you know." He wasn't too terribly hungry. He could wait. After all, he was certainly convinced that his children, and Bella, deserved the best treatment. He did, however, take a few berries for himself, then slid the still-generous remainder back to her. "Come on now...I'm not going to let you tell me you aren't hungry."
The cool air was certainly a little more noticeable tonight, though the female cuddled up to him made it bearable. Her mention of shelter made him think. Yes, that would be a good idea. Somewhere safe to have kits, somewhere warm and dry....
"Any ideas where we might find any? Somewhere we can stay for a while, of course..." He glanced over at her.

Must to Bella's chagrin, she had such mind fog that she couldn't seem to think more than two steps ahead. She sighed. Maybe the charitable food rationing she was trying to give herself was finally getting to her. She knew that she was eating for many soon-to-come-and-eat-for-themselves additions, she wouldn't need to feel like she was greedy.
Bella flushed, "You need your strength too." She threw a slight unsatisfied grimace at him. "I'll eat whatever you don't eat, okay? Does that sound fair?" she offered.
She flashed a glance at their latest gophers, "Perhaps... we could put them to work," she purred.
Lillium cracked a sleepy eye, but didn't mind it and softly snoozed once again. Bella watched her for a moment before turning back to Daja, "What do you think?"

"Oh I'm perfectly fine. I ate earlier, and I've had my fill." He purred in her ear, nuzzling her despite her unsatisfied look. He did, however, follow her gaze to the sleeping creatures, both much tinier than themselves. His at least seemed to laze around all day and sleep, while Lillium was a little more active. Shame.
"Perhaps. If we can get them to move, it could work. Good luck with Pesha, the lazy thing." He frowned a little. The one that nearly matched his coloration didn't even open his eyes, instead rolling over so he didn't have to listen to whatever it was they needed of him.
"See? Yours will be far more useful." He gave a sagely nod, frowning at the balls of fluff.

Bella yawned as she pulled the food back over sheepishly but grateful. Nibbling at the meal, she thought aloud, "Lillium," she munched, "Would you put that lazy oaf to work and find us some suitable shelter?"
Lillium quirked up at the request and eyed Pesha, "It would be my pleasure." With a twinkle in her eye she reared her butt in the air, tail wagging. Then, with a cheshire grin she lunged at the dozing familiar.
Bella enjoyed the dinner and the show. It wasn't everyday she had such entertainment. She looped her paw over Daja's and snuggled deeper into his fur as she watched on in silence.

Daja simply watched as what was left disappeared rather quickly. Ah, yes, feeding the future generation to come...He was absolutely thrilled. The entertainment was quality as well...
Pesha jumped awake as he was pounced on, hissing as he backed up, ears back, from the female. "STOP THAT."

Bella finished what was left of their dinner and rather enjoyed her sadistic little cohort.
Lillium smirked at her annoyed accomplice. As she walked by she flicked her tail puff in his perturbed face. She merely snickered to herself. Off she walked into the night air, eager to get back to drive him batty more.
Bella shook her head. "There's a kid after my own heart." She sighed and rolled over into Daja's side softly purring.

Pesha gave a slight growl, before following the female. They had a job to do after all....And perhaps a reward would be more sleep. He did not like this one. She was far too active and swipey.
"Aww, you say that now....But wait until ours come along, hmm? I'm sure they'll steal your heart." He nuzzled her, happy to keep her company for the night. "Hopefully they'll find somewhere useful. I don't think it would be wise to have the kits in such an open area." He glanced around, almost nervously.

Bella nodded, "Yes, I agree. It was a God thing for us to receive those two." She cleaned her paw and rubbed her ear. Surprisingly was as tired as she was. She blamed it on poor nourishment. But she didn't care anymore. A few more days and they would have a nice cozy place for their future. The thought gave herself something to look forward to as she dozed off.
Lillium romped out ahead of Pesha. She wanted to show up that little puff once and for all. Always so lazy, the bum. It irked her that he didn't help her with the coming family and it was her former she had to protect. Forget him! She found Daja to be proper and treating Bella right, but Pesha, oh, HELL no.DECEMBER POINTS

Daja kept her cozied up as she began to doze again. Aaah, it was taking a lot out of her, he knew. But luckily he wasn't even close himself to falling asleep again. He watched the moon begin to rise in the sky, hoping the two familiars were going to find somewhere safe.
Pesha, however, had other ideas. He ran even faster than she expected, more like a bullet from a pistol than the lazy slug she had expected. Perhaps he just conserved energy for moments like these? He grinned back at her, stopping to let her catch up. Lillium was a stick in the mud, after all. No fun at all.
