Maggie had been listening to Alex try to explain when she heard the eery laughter. Then she was struck with what seemed to be cards from the little witch she'd seen earlier. Falling to her hands and knees, her ears directed her to the opposite direction of the witch that had fallen upon them to a boil who also looked familiar. Another blow struck. She heard the boils yelling, but couldn't discern what they were saying with the ringing in her ears. Or at least she thought it was a ringing. Her head had snapped up and eyes open as if she wasn't even in control of her own body, and she was roaring. She could feel her teeth had elongated and become sharp, and her hands had formed into half paws covered in black fur with long thick claws instead of her nicely painted fingernails. It was then that she realized that the beast must've taken over for her own protection, and it's own survival. Her feral nature had pushed through, but hadn't gone past a limit like it normally did. Later she might guess that was because the beast knew it wouldn't distinguish between friend and foe in a fight, but right now she didn't care. Right now she cared about the little witch who had attacked her, and fighting back. Maneuvering into a crouching position, Maggie launched herself at Belladonna, arms - and claws - outstretched, hoping for contact. OOC HP: 7/30 Damage: 10 Target: Insanity Belladonna

Of course, once his Fear attack was used it was really best to follow up as quickly as possible, before the effects of his own personal green fog of foul smelling gas wore off. The zomboil, who moments before had been lying on the ground ready to let the fog swallow him up, now had a reason to fight. He needed to at least give Maggie and Chryses a chance, as bleak as that chance may be. He didn't want to just give up without trying when other peoples lives hung in the balance as well. When it was just his own..ya, he had made that decision to give up, but this wasn't just about him now. He shuffled forward, movements quickened by the urgency of their situation. When he was close enough to that green cloud he threw everything he could possibly muster into a powerful punch, hitting that which he couldn't quite see but that he knew was there. Perhaps the former witch was delighted to have an ally she cared so much for in her attack, or perhaps she was simple lost to Insanity. Regardless of reason she let out another high, keening cackle as he danced around the little group. Her cards trailed behind her in a loose circle, nearly reminiscent of her old self. When the green stench began, the witch instantly drew back away from the cloud, her cackling suddenly ceasing. Aware of the nastiness the colored smoke began, she was left unawares for the attack from the panther. Yet even as the thing attacked her, the witch only laughed more. "Hush little children, it must be this way..." She hissed at them, her voice high yet soft. With a dramatic sweep of her hands a multitude of cards shot forward toward the two first years. "I shall take you Home." OOC Total HP : 50/ 60 Damage done: 20 Targets: Maggie & Chryses

The demon's attack was barely a blip on the monster's radar, but Alex's? Oh, what a seething mess the Mort thing was when he was revisited by the awful green miasma again, and though he swiped before him he was granted no satisfying rip of claws into flesh; and here he thought three targets would have given him a fair chance at catching something even when blinded.
An annoyed snarl echoed through the green mists just before the zomboil's fist connected - and then the snarl redoubled as he staggered back and once again clawed at nothing.

Chryses was surprised at the sudden change in the zomboil's attitude, but in all honesty, he was regretting his own heroic impulses.
He regretted it further when another barrage of cards flew into him, literally shredding him into dissipated mist. Still, he hoped against hope that this might be the end of it, and that he would be able to avoid the House in the future.
Until he reformed right there, back in the fight.
Well, only one thing to do.
"I'm fine," he lied without being asked. Then, the demon took something like a defensive stance.
Gotta keep fighting. He didn't want to go Home.

One last roar escaped Maggie as she was hit by another string of cards, tearing her to pieces. Was this it? Was it...over? Apparently not. Reforming, Maggie blinked, unsure what to think. Looking back up, she realized that she was still in the middle of a fight and crouched low, trying to make herself as small a target as possible while she gathered her wits again. Alexander took a chance to look behind him and see how the other two were fairing. They were only first years, sure, but there were at least two of them. Between them both he hoped that they could hold their own until he was finished over here, trying his damnedest to keep the insane Mort creature of of their backs. He shouldn't have turned around, he shouldn't have looked. Something wrenched deep inside of his chest when he witnessed the flash of cards as they tore through both the demon boil and Maggie, sending them into dissipation. He knew he didn't have much time, that he should be attacking Mort, but he couldn't stop looking at the place where they both had fell, hoping, praying that they would return. Finally, he tore his gaze away, knowing that if they did come back themselves, in that very unlikely case, he needed to make sure they came back to a place that was relatively safe. And so he gathered up his strength and charged forward into the fog, swinging his fist once more. OOC HP: 9/50 Target: Mort Fear attacks: Y1 Battle Cry, Y2 Tainted Fang, Y3 Headlights-used. The monster's moment of triumph caused her to cackle all the louder as she twirled gleefully, a mist of cloud swirling around her as she danced her way through the carnage. Yet it was short lived for as soon as her cards had done their work and the two students dissipated, they were back, reformed wholly and complete. A whisper in her ear told her how unfair this was, that they were given second chances when she had been given none. Her gleeful twirl stopped, and her blue gaze settled on the two of them as she held up both hands toward them. "I'll get you yet, my pretties."As though she wanted to toy with them a bit more, the witch instead concentrated her attack on the one boil, each card thrown razor sharp accompanied with the tiniest of gleeful sounds. Oh yes, these two little ones would come Home with her. OOC Total HP : 50/ 60 Damage done: 12 Targets: Chryses

The creature was not able to see the first years' dissipation and reformation, but he had felt the subtle tugs in the air fail to pull them in and growled at their tenacity to not simply come Home. Mort important than this, however, was to deal with the really annoying zombie who kept punching him so hard and mixing his mists with awful, tainted miasma. But it was fading now, and revenge would be exacted.
So when Alex came at him with another strong punch, he did more than just roar. Quite frankly the monster snatched him out of the air and without so much as a blink yanked the zombie in two with a horrid crunch and a savagely gleeful roar, torso and hip separated into a gorey dangling mess before being flung into the misty corners where they belonged.
The demon did not get a similar fate, but by virtue of speaking up he alerted himself to the hooded creature and thus was delivered a crashing, giant fist into the wall.
Angry boss was angry. He held no loyalty for the witch creature and only saw the students' reformation as a chance to show who was the true protector of Home was.OOC Total HP : 30/60 Damage done: 21 Targets: Alex + Chryses

He felt his fist connect against the misty form of Mort, solid and true, the echoes of the impact reverberating up his arm and down his spine. It was as though each hit that connected awakened him further, pulled him more into the here and now and away from the fog and insanity that whispered at him tantalizingly, threatening to consume him. He really didn't want to be like them, he didn't really want to have his eyes opened towards this new "home" that they continued to speak about.
He began to back away, a hurried shambling stumble that wasn't nearly fast enough to escape what happened next. Alexander really shouldn't have waited so long for his second attack, but he had wanted to make sure the other two were okay. Even now, as the green miasma he had conjured from his own Fear began to vanish into wispy tendrils, leaving the Insanimort free and clear, he ventured a quick look behind him, only to see that the others had reformed.
That gave him some small amount of relief before he was grabbed and lifted up into the air. "No!" His voice was a ragged gasp as he struggled to pull free of the grip that was wrapped tight around him. It was all pointless, however, the struggle, the attempts to free himself or to even talk some sense into the creature that was once his zombro who was now reaching for him with his other hand as well.
Alex knew what was coming next, and he tried to steal himself for it, though nothing could prepare him for it, and there was no way of stopping the small, pathetic whimpers that managed to escape his throat just before Mort ripped him in half, his decomposing torso torn with the sound of popping bones and seperated, squelching insides, and the wet sound of rotting blood as it splattered against the ground. It was an agonizing feeling, like his skin was nothing more the velcro to be peeled apart, the pain like nothing he had felt in recent memory. The two halves of his body were thrown, and he had time to feel the impact of the earth beneath him, his body a disgusting and horrifying ruin of what it once was, before he dissipated into a million Fear particles that dispersed into the air, the whispers of home drowning out everything else, pulling on him, guiding him towards his new calling.
He fought against it was everything he had, but he'd spent so long in the fog, so long as it chiseled away his confidence, his survival instincts of self preservation, and his drive to keep going, to keep fighting. It was a struggle hard fought, and barely won.
And then he reformed, the zomboil gasping in a breath that he didn't need, coughing from his position on the ground, frantically grabbing at for his shirt and lifting it to stare at the part of his body where it had only moments before been severed, now made whole once more. He hadn't expected to be brought back. He had thought the fog had finally gotten it's claws into him, ready to drag him down and consume him with the insanity that it had managed to inflict on nearly everybody else he cared the most about.
He wasn't sure whether or not to be thankful for the second chance.

He was totally unprepared for the vicious double attack that left him vanishing into wisps of mist. He had barely had time to recover from his first dissipation, and now the fog was coming again, tugging, pulling, asking him to Come Home.
It was easy to ignore. The demon boil reformed, dizzy and out of sorts, but above all pissed. His expression was carefully blank, but murder was on his mind.
"Let's finish this. I'd prefer not to dissipate a third time." He said flatly.

Maggie barely had time to register that Chryses had gone down again. Her eyes widened with horror as she saw the double attack on him. And then she saw Alex fall. It was just her now, and she had to fight, had to stay sane. Still crouching, she threw her head back, letting her face widen and stretch, the skin growing soft black fur. Her panther jaws were much, much more powerful than her humanoid ones. All the better to rip these mist-people apart with. This time Maggie concentrated her attack on Mort, leaping at him with open jaws. OOC HP: 30/30 Damage: 7 Target: Mort

Animals were awful, awful creatures. First the wolf, then the gryphon, and now this. The creature hissed and smacked at the jackal for getting in his way.
More annoying than tat, however, was the fact that these things kept ignoring the call to Home and continued to reform in their midst. This was clearly a sign that he was meant to purge them for as long as necessary, until Home was all they knew.
So he started back at the zombie reached with lengthy nails. This one he wouldn't mind crushing again and again and again . . .OOC Total HP : 23/60 Damage done: 5 Targets: Maggie + Alex

When the next two students only dissipated for a moment, and were quick to reform, it did not help their cause. With a vengeful screech the witch monster whirled toward them, mists rising in great clouds around her. "What pests you babies are turning into!"Angered by their insistence to continue fighting, especially in harming her ally, the witch only threw a few more cards at them, hissing as she swirled around them. They could only last so long, they could only refuse the call of Home for a little longer... They would be coming Home soon, very soon. OOC Total HP : 50/ 60 Damage done: 11 Targets: Maggie & Chryses
