Pykichi

Beloved Lunatic

PostPosted: Tue Oct 09, 2012 5:12 pm

Pykichi walked with the group from Bobbins and Pins, laughing and teasing the other girls of the shop. In celebration of the event, the owner of the tailor store had let the girls make their own costumes. (It was good practice for techniques afterall.) Pykichi had chosen to be a witch this year. Over a cream peasant top was a sapphire colored dress, fitted under the bust, with a short skirt lifted by a few layers of cream petticoats. Purple details stood out from the blue of the outfit: lacing at the back that cinched the costume together, trim around the edges of the over-dress, and a purple bow tied around a broom which she held as she walked. A thin blue ribbon matching her dress wound 'round her neck in multiple passes. Her black leather work shoes came up under her knees, and cream thigh-high socks continued out from under them to hide under the skirts. All of this was easy for her to create, but to test herself, Pykichi had created a witch hat to wear for the evening. Petite, cute, just like the lady herself, it sat to the side of her head, tied down by a ribbon hidden under her long brown hair, which was left to flow free in gentle waves.

While not a very mature costume, Pykichi hoped that she looked cute, and was pleased with her work. It was rare that she got to wear something other than the standard dress required as an employee of Bobbins and Pins. Such an occasion merited going all out! Or as much as it was possible when in charge of making the costumes of half the town, including the King and his retainers. With so much to do, it was a miracle that any of the employees of the shop got their own things done!

First order of business: after signing the guestbook, they approached the throne to greet the King. As one, they curtseyed, while the owner, Giovanni McBobinpinscher, bowed. He addressed the King, thanking him for the party, the invitation, and exclaiming over the King's wonderful costume. The usual sucking up of a shop to their ruler and patron. After the formalities had been met, the group dispersed, each going off to indulge in their own preferences. Pykichi gazed around at all the costumes, mentally taking notes of fabrics, colors, designs, and ideas. Even at a party, she couldn't help but be entranced by the clothes around her. From a white, ethereal angel, to a feline, to a ram and a raven, bunnies, and faeries, and more! It was heaven for a clothes designer, and Pykichi hadn't even thought of bringing paper and pencils...

She was halfway across the floor when she realized that she had forgotten to sign the guestbook. Not that it would do any good - Athari couldn't write...but she could draw a little. She turned quickly on her heel, her cape flowing behind her in a sweeping motion as she moved back steadily through the sea of people that seemed to part whenever she came near, her eyes dark and brooding as the paintings on her body appeared to be menacing even if she wasn't. Nailiah probably would have chided her for not being more sociable. Pah. Her beloved wasn't here...which she felt her chide the human through their mental link. Pah again!

She came to the book that seemed to be blocked by two other figures: one that looked like a Raven and the other she couldn't quite place. Her eyes scrutinized the both of them for a moment waiting for the female that had managed to get to the book before her. She appeared to be dressed quite brightly though that may have been white that just bounced off her costume. Lady Death simply gave a bow as their eyes met, her gaze keeping strong until she moved herself to the book. Athari's quick hand movements drew an 'A', 'x', 'D', and 'O' with a small skull symbol right next to it. She gave a quick nod quite proud of her signature that she had been working on in her free time. The Amazon never really knew how to write and this was honestly the best she could come up with. The others' signatures made her feel a little strange and savage so to speak, but the feeling was quickly pushed aside as she turned her gaze and noticed a figure in full black come from the entrance. Athari quickly stepped out the way as she signed the book, her face barely covered by by her stance, the woman seemed to be...unsure of herself. Athari watched her from afar as she moved quite gracefully through the crowds off by herself. Her mouth quirked a little feeling her heart go out to the girl.

She was in fact about to when she was suddenly stopped by a strangely dressed figure. He was...all but comical looking and she attempted to study him as he studied her. Then he suddenly spoke and it took all of Athari to not just bop his head over with her stick. Athari stood still brushing her fingertips through her hair idly to move the bangs from her face careful not to mess up her paint. "I'm Athari the Dark One. Mostly known as Athari." Her voice rasped her head tilting again much like a confused pup. "What...are you dressed as?" Her voice held much uncertainty as she still tried to figure him out...

Dapper Genius

Azreth politely returned the greetings of all who acknowledged him, though his mind was far from the gaiety of the gathering. His eyes tracked Zel -- he really was fond of that costume, dammit -- as the Alchemist made his way over to the Guestbook, no doubt assisting some poor sou -- . . . Noah? The King felt his eyebrows raise halfway to his hairline. He hadn't seen the man in ages -- in fact, he had thought him dead, to be honest. Politely bowing away from the tailor speaking with him, Azreth wound his way effortlessly through the crowd, murmuring a nicety here, a word of advice there, until he finally reached the pair. He placed a hand on Noah's stooped shoulders, drawing his attention away from the Alchemist. "You're alive...?" His voice held disbelief, followed by a strong surge of hope.

He was always watching -- those around him, those unaware, and even those hyper-aware -- and still, he could simply vanish from their perception if he so chose. The assassin sighed and rolled his eyes. This wasn't any fun; he had followed Cairne here because he had hoped to meet the boy King again, to see how susceptible he was to forming a Contract, and now that he had accomplished his task, boredom was setting in. But he had to follow protocol and be on his best behavior -- no blood would be spilled this night. At least, not by his or the Serpents' doing. The Demon leaned back against a barrel of watered wine, watching the monochromatic world swirl around him for a while before he heard a distinctive laugh; one he had heard before.

Tilting his head to the side, Altais felt a smile split his features as he pushed off of the cask, careful not to dislodge it. He Felt more than saw the way to where he needed to be, and with a fluidity rivaling that of an adder's, the man spun elegantly in and out of those who crossed his path. After several minutes, he reached the girl, standing not four inches behind her. He let out a low laugh and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Why Pykichi, you're absolutely glowing in this atmosphere, aren't you?"

Noah nearly jumped out of his skin as a man dressed as a Raven came up to him, speaking of the guest book. Noah laughed lightly, scratching at his neck. "Ah...Well I wouldn't know what other name to write. The man in blue?" Still, he could feel his fingers tingling. There was something so much more going on than he wished. The Six wanted him to write something... and he wasn't exactly happy with being left in the dark.

"Oh, excuse me," he said as a woman, seemingly floating walked by to sign her name as, "Angel." He envied her free will. Noah looked to the Raven, smiling politely.

"The ballroom looks magnificent really." Small talk... Noah wanted to just melt into the floor. He wanted to leave. He wanted to turn around and never look back. Though the second he even entertained the idea, his body moved involuntarily, turning further to the man dressed as the Raven. "I guess I should sign my name in now," he said without actually deciding to say it. Noah felt his body moving toward the guest book. He watched in horror as his hand picked up the quill and scribbled down one word. "Murderer."

He was released from his Cursed mark, staring down in horror at the word. He turned abruptly around, trying to make sure no one had seen what he wrote, though he wasn't entirely sure, and then to his absolute horror, he felt someone rest their hand on his shoulder. He flinched, his gaze capturing blonde hair and a voice so unfortunately familiar it pained him with his entire being. 'No...no not you...' The king looked relieved to see him, yet Noah only felt more pain. He'd seen his vision. He knew what he was to do before his own demise. He just didn't know when it would finally activate... "K-King Azreth... I... I've been..." Noah stammered through his words, fighting with every fiber of his being, wishing he could just leave, or die now. This was so cruel. The King had been nothing but kind to him, and he would one day pay him back with betrayal. This was too cruel a fate for a man so good. "I'm sorry..." he said finally; simply.

"Awe come on, Aila. Everything will be alright. Kyrielle will be in here in a moment. Besides! The king is here! What could possibly go wrong?" The overly optimistic wizard said, his stuck on white beard bobbling as he spoke. His grey eyes twinkled merrily from a dark, yet simple mask that covered his nose, cheeks and forehead. He slapped his arm around the smaller, petite being beside him that was dressed casually as an angel, with a pair of wings strapped to her back and an elegant ball gown on.

"Thalanir... Why am I even here? I don't like dresses.. I'd rather be at home... with Maera and Jondayla, sitting by a fire and reading. I don't belong in a place like this. Aila responded, her own mask an exact replica of Thalanir's, except in pearly white with some black splotches on it that Maera and insisted she put on it for 'color'. How Aila had even let Thalanir and Kyrielle convince her to come was completely beyond her! She was wayyy to far from home in a time like this.

"Oh quit worryin'. Everything will be fine. Help me look for Kyrielle. You know what her costume is. I don't." the tall man began peering over the crowds to try and locate his mate's familiar shape.

Aila gave an exasperated sigh. "We're supposed to sign in..." She grunted as she grabbed the wizard's arm and dragged him over to one of the guest books that seemed to be free where they both set to signing their names.

Kyrielle arrive shortly after her mate and friend. Though she hadn't meant to, she took a little longer getting ready than she had anticipated. The costume that Aila had helped her make was fairly simple, a gray gown hugged her bodice tightly while flowing down at the hips. Her mask covered her forehead, nose, and the top part of her cheeks. Whiskers protruded the mask under the nose that paired with the ears they had crafted gave enough information to know that her costume was of a mouse. Fabric wound in a roll was attached under some folds of fabric to create her tail that swished back and forth as she walked. Spotting Thalanir and Aila at the guest book, she made her way up. Her soft slippers making a soft pitter patter on the ground. "Thalanir." She said softly, standing behind him. Kyri remembered how uncomfortable she felt in big throngs of people as she was reminded of the last festival. Though she had met some nice people that time. The girl wondered if her friend Reo would be here this time too, she made a mental note to try to look for her.

"Athari," Tkal repeated. "I like it!" When she inquired about his attire, he grinned behind his mask. "I'm dressed as a jester. I'm supposed to make people smile and laugh." He idly shifted his weight from foot to foot. "Is it working? If not, I could juggle or something."

Manga had begun sketching after the king had wandered off, her eyes flitting from guest to guest as she etched their exotic costumes onto the parchment. Her gaze eventually settled on a hooded figure (Eir Avani) who had lifted her mask to wipe away tears. She found herself approaching the elf. "Do you mind if I join you?" she asked, dark brown eyes inspecting the crying girl as she waited for a reply.

Entering the magnificent ball Kali Jelani of her gypsy troupe looked around with awe at the beauty the palace beheld. Along with a few other members of her troupe they all had come dressed in surprisingly elegant and fashionable attire, things no one would think gypsies had in their possessions and even fewer knew they could create such finery from the trades they made with the gadjos. To keep any suspicions down as to their identity, despite this being at a masquerade ball, they had broken off into smaller groups to mingle with those of similar status and rubbed elbows with the rich. Kali was accompanied by Cameron, a dashing gypsy male who was the biggest flirt of the first order wearing a stunning red and black outfit the clung to his body to accentuate his masculinity and grace with the mask of the devil covering half of his tanned face and showing his full sensual lips. He wore his cape over one shoulder, with rings on his fingers glittering in the light as if he were the devil himself showing off his own riches. Cam’s dark hair was let loose around his shoulders in dark curling waves that went past his shoulders.

Similar to Cameron’s attire Kali had chosen her preferred colors of red and gold made from silk and satin. Her dress was a fiery red with gold trimmings along the layers of her gown, with gold jewelry that adorned them. Here were gold designs on her corset that hugged her generous bosom. Around her neck was a gold necklace wrapped around her neck three times with coins hanging from them and draped over her corset. Her mask was simple in gold as well covering half of her face that showed her brownish gold eyes that were outlined lightly with her lips painted a deep red. Kali had no such rules as to her hair so she left it down and natural, the long gentle waves of each strand swaying gently behind her was she walked gracefully with a sway to her hips on shoes that had a small heel. In truth she simply seemed pretend she was Lady Luck with her fortunes on display on her with the devil on her arm. A truly unique pair.

While they both had come to enjoy a party that held such promise to see and speak with people they never would on a daily basis or on a personal level because of how many regarded gypsies, it also held promises for their itchy fingers to snatch a jewel here and a coin there. It wasn’t as if they were going to rub the place clean. That would be rude and supremely wrong. Kali would forbid such an endeavor. No, perhaps some mischief to keep things interesting while for once being nearly equal among these gadjos was reward enough. Kali and Cameron came up to the signing book, excitement bubbled inside her as she wrote her name as indeed Lady Luck and Cameron wrote Lord Devil. It was simple to keep track of for themselves should anyone approach them.

Once they finished signing in impressive flourish cursive Kali and Cam mingled about nodding to a few of their own gypsies who wore costumes of animals such as a horse and a wolf, another looked like an owl while another looked like a frog. It was odd but they made it look truly charming with the shades of green and jewels adorning the outfit. The frog prince was looking for his kiss tonight for sure. Coming up to a table where refreshments and food were, they stared at the ice sculpture and tilted their heads t the side. “Interesting.” They murmured then laughed. Cameron kissed Lady Luck’s hand and bowed. “If you will excuse me, I wish to go and see if there are any lovely creatures to play with.” With that devilish glint in his dark eyes Cameron knew what games he wanted to play. Harmless flirting.

Kali stood there and looked around as a regal creature among plenty of regal individuals, passing on glances to those who would look her way giving winks and a pretty smile. The night was still young and no doubt there was more to come for everyone on this festive occasion.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Mira walked into the ballroom from a side door, having finally finished getting her own costume arranged and on, with her aunt's help. It had taken many months of preparation, and Mira had no idea if she'd ever have the chance to use it, but the advent of the masquerade had seemed the perfect time to finally wear it.

Maybe it'd be the only time, but she was bound and determined to keep a promise to the King, and find the strength she'd lost along with her Fallen, Txopu. The only thing that'd truly saved her, other than her friendships, was the bond to her other mares, who refused to let her go. A vacation to the Land Below for a time, suggested by Zel, had done her some good as well. She was still Broken and prone to leaking, a sad pale shade of her former much happier self of years past, but she'd begun to find a strength, though her true purpose was still much lost to her.

The Fairy Queen, her long dress flowing around her and the mask serving to completely transform the once lowly maid - showing a regal aspect that few would probably ever see again, as she had not been lucky enough to be born into the noble class and a Cinderella story would never be in her cards - sidled up to the King as a blindfolded man left. Murmuring at him to hold still, she fixed a few of the feathers in his tail, straightening them out. It wouldn't do for the Peacock to display a messy tail. Granted, messy or not, she doubted he would have trouble finding a mate no matter the condition his tail was in, especially in this crowd.

Reaching up, she touched his cheek, her own green eyes meeting his for a moment. She gave him a sad, distant smile, her thumb gently stroking his skin, before gliding away into the crowd like a ghost. In many ways, she was little more than one now. She turned to watch him glide off and greet others who approached and stopping one fellow in particular with a hand on his shoulder. She wondered who it was, but then shrugged and moved off, greeting a few who waved to her. She was trying, it was clear, but her heart wasn't totally into this whole experience yet. However, there was still the rest of the night to go.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Fiavel finally entered the ballroom, her long blond hair flowing down her back, the green of her dress accenting the more earthen tones of her skin and eyes. Accented by a few choicely-placed leaves and branches shaped into a sort of crown, she decided she'd be a nature goddess, if anyone asked. Few knew what it'd taken to get her the outfit she was wearing - mostly a few missing purses from some of the wealthier belts around town - but hell if she was going to miss this once in a lifetime experience of coming to the castle. Theives and wealthy alike, dining side by side, both liars in the end in both words and dress - no one ever protrayed who they really were did they?

Scrawling her name into the guest book, she moved off to the side, eying everyone with a bit of a suspicious air. She knew Cairne was here, but wasn't sure where...oh well. She wondered if he'd find her, eventually. On her glances about the room, her eyes fell upon the lewd ice sculpture, and she grinned as she pondered just how much someone might pay for that...she'd probably make good money if she ever went straight....

Taking her prize gingerly Reo picked up a glass and started to pour. She could smell the sweet tartness that the berry liquor promised to her. She heard the cat woman speak to her and looked at the feline with amusement. “My dear as lovely as you are I fear you have no need to run from a little fox like me. I’m far too lazy and clumsy to manage such hunting. Besides that I have yet to hear of a cat that didn’t have claws.” She only hoped that the woman she was speaking with didn’t know how quick a fox’s bite could be or this word play game could last for quite a while. Entertaining yes, but if Reoakee drank enough it wouldn’t take long for her to make a fool of herself. She smiled raising her glass to her lips and sipped; her face took on a grimace as the unexpected tartness filled her mouth. “Ah pity, I thought this would be sweeter. Any suggestions for a foolish vixen?” Eyeing the assortment of liquors again she didn’t want to be hasty in her judgment and end up with something horrible tasting. Picking up a bottle she looked it over before setting it back down. Alcohol was not her forte in any way shape or form. If she could find a good one then the party would stop being quite so irksome.

Trying very hard to relax and not succeeding well Mei nearly jumped out of her skin when the ram scooted closer to her. Taking the drink and smiling she pushed up the sash with her thumb so that she could see with more than just a small slit. Actually looking at his mask for the first time she had to suppress a giggle. It was an interesting mask she decided as she scoured it with a gray eye. His head piece was also quite lovely. Her voice was soft when she spoke. “Yes the decorations are quite lovely." She cast her eye about the room with a glance. “And the smells are something like out a heart kitchen which just adds to the pleasantness of the party.” Realizing she had yet to take a drink from the champagne that was given to her she proceeded to do so more for politeness sake than anything else. It was a nutty bold taste that Mei found she liked very much. While still very uncomfortable with all the people around Mei was glad she had picked a table to sit at where she was lucky enough to have someone who didn’t seem to want to ask her anything uncomfortable. Slipping her sash back over her eye she went back to being nearly blind. The Ram she was sitting with was very well dressed and nice, that was enough to let Mei relax just a fraction. There were still some murmurs flying about here and there in small groups from the strange looking man who had spoken with the king, but Mei ignored them.

“The assortment of costumes here is impressive. It seems like everyone went all out for this event.” Not that Mei could see them all now. But when she had been fleeing to find a seat she had seen so many costumes and outfits that the creative side of her was a bit jealous. She still thought that the outfit she had created for Reoakee outshone them all though. After all it had been carefully done and planned for quite some time on Mei’s part. She loved making her own outfit as well, but she had tried to make hers into less of an eye catcher and more like a noble has simply modified an existing outfit. Being a Skh’et gave her the natural excuse for a bunny costume so as long as she didn’t move her ears to much she doubted anyone would really notice.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. It was at this point that Nick arrived...fashionably late. He'd had to do some scrounging about the castle, particularly in Azreth's closet for a few small items, to finish off his costume, and he was rather proud of it. Most of what he wore was simple - skin tight pants with a slightly baggy shirt with tall boots - all done in a dark red that appeared near black, topped by a very long flowing cape that was the shade of blood, matching his gloves. He wore his hair braided so the hood covered all but the bangs that framed his face. Bright blue eyes gazed through a simple white mask. Paint beneath and upon the mask made his eyes appear bruised and look as if fresh blood continuously seeped from his eyes. Silver bracelets matched the sword at his hip and the silver trim on the cape itself, glinting as it caught the light.

He had cast himself as Death - it was his job, in a sense, after all to bring death to those that would harm the Kingdom - and by looking around, he saw another who seemed to have had much the same idea, except she'd used paint for much of hers. He had to admire the effect she gave to the crowd around her before dragging his gaze off to the others. With so many here, from ALL walks of life, it was important for him to keep up his vigilance to protect the King. Head bowed low, he took up a station not too close, nor too far way from his best friend and liege as he greeted the people enthusiastically, eyes constantly roaming the room for any sign of threats.

When the Angel pressed passed them, signed the book and gracefully glided off, Zel caught himself staring at her walking away. That hair... shiny... He mentally kicked himself and went back to focus on the current shiny poor soul. Besides, his wife would kill him.

The Raven gave the masked blue man another friendly smile and an indulgant chuckle. "The Blue Man has a ring to it, but it is your choice what you put. " Most people signed with fake names, though many he didn't internally approve of. All of these 'death' and other macabre sounding names didn't settle well for someone trying to hide loss like himself. When he did see the name ' Murderer' scrolled into the ledger, Zel didn't think much of it as it was just below 'Angel' which was below ' Barron Heart ' . At this point in the night, the Raven couldn't tell if these people were just playing light of the whole gloomy outside, or enjoying the party. He was assuming the later out of the sanity of his logic.

What he did notice of the masked man was the sheer jumpiness. Maybe he didn't like crowds. "Ah, thank you. They were quite a pain to grow. Apparnetly pumpkins don't naturally grow in high places. We went through quite a few varieties until we settled on these. Never mind that a few decided to sprout faces... " He trailed off when the King approached. Behind the decorated half plague doctor mask of black and feathers, he blinked his green eyes and tilted his head to the side in curiosity. They knew one another, yet why did the blue man seem ill at ease.

Zel chose to keep quiet for now and observe, taking note that a troupe of gypsies came waltzing in, Mira was trying to be cheerful in her regal fairy costume, and some guy with a bleeding face mask really was playing up the whole Spooky theme. He'd have to have a talk with the lad... And where was that giant anyways? He was late.

The raven smiled at the Skeh't beneath his mask again. Goodness, she was darling. And couldn't see at all out of her costume. While that was useful in places, here it just didn't seem practical to him. Why, someone might take advantage of it! Like himself. If was feeling up for it. Right now, he just wanted to chill for a bit before he went after the angel and the forest lady...maybe he would find his friend and see what he had to say on the whole thing. Maybe go talk to the Raven again. That guy was a hoot. He pulled himself from his thoughts and nodded as she agreed to the charmingness of the decoration. Again, he would glance around, nodding his head politely, "Indeed. I think they wanted an excuse to celebrate. The seasons are changing, and the harvest was well enough to accomidate a night of feasting if I heard correctly." Another sip of his drink and he took notice that the bunny's ears were a bit too realistic.

"Pardon if this seems a bit too forward, " he began, sounding as appologetic as possible, "But your costume ears look extremely lifelike. Where did you get them?" And now, he would watch her squirm. Muaaahahaha!

Eliana watched the fox lady out of the corner of her eyes, an enigmatic smile beneath her mask. "True. Some forget because the cat keeps its claws hidden until needed." She didn't mind a little bit of verbal play, but there was no need to draw it out unnecessarily. Especially when there were other, more important diversions about.

The likely plump purses tucked into so many exquisite sashes and belts aside.

No, for once, Eliana had a better target in mind. Still high quality, but easier to enjoy directly, rather than needing to exchange it for something else she wanted. Alcohol she knew well.

At the question, her gaze passed over the table expertly, halting on a short, squat bottle near the back. She lifted it, uncorked it, and waved the opening briefly under her nose before passing it to the other woman. "If it's sweet you want, try this one. Fermented cider. Definitely sweeter than that last one. Not really my usual taste, but, to each their own."

Edward strode into the party. Standing tall and elegant in the only suit anyone had managed to stuff him in. It accentuated broad shoulders and his long legs for which he was grateful cause no one liked to wear a frumpy suit. It was not something he ever wanted to do. Frankly he would rather go bear chested which seemed to work just as well thank you very much. Edward joined the queue to the guest book and signed it with a flourish. Now then, what to do. He supposed he would wait for something amazing to happen.

The elf gave a small startled gasp as she quickly put her mask back into place. She fumbled for a few minutes, and the whole time was hoping that she hadn't been seen crying. That was the last thing she wanted. She was here at a party, and people just didn't cry at parties.

"If you don't mind quiet company, then sure." Eir's voice broke slightly as she spoke to Manga, and she desperately hoped that she hadn't been spotted crying, and that her voice didn't give her away. In all honesty she really didn't want company, but she didn't want to be rude either. Oh why did she have to come to this party? There was just no way she could be happy, but yet she didn't want to be rude to the other guests either. Well, crap. were her thoughts as she thought about her predicament.
