~*~ || Za'vestri || ~*~

User Image

The Stepping Stones

Oh whats in a name?
Za'vestri Rae'Kouana

My friends like to call me.
Vestri is my most common name, though I was once known as the Gear Master...but that was long ago, in a faraway place.

Congratulations, its a?
I am a lady, thank you.

Baby what's your sign?
My gemstone is red - and I am not your baby.

You legal?
What an impertinent question! Not that it is any of your concern, I am a fully grown adult, thank you!

You got a type?
Normal | Ulaya

A Lullaby?
Destination Unknown * Marietta

Genetics?
I'm afraid I cannot recall.

Only child?
I do believe so...

All About Love

What creams your Twinkie?
I...what...*splutters indignantly*

Your better half?
I am single. *Still gasping incoherently at the previous question*

A legacy?
Goodness no! What sort of lady do you take me for? You don't have children without a mate!

The Little Details

Whats your problem?
Za'vestri is a very proper lady with a very traditional outlook on many things. She does not believe in such things as kits without a mate, for example, nor is she the sort to dabble in anything that might be considered socially unacceptable.

She is desperately careful not to cause offence to anyone, though at times her impeccable manners can result in her appearing aloof or - ironically enough - rude, depending on the situation. There are things Za'vestri does not consider appropriate to discuss, and if confronted with these matters will become either flustered or sharp toned, thus where offence will come into play without her entirely meaning it to.

For all her poise and elegant mannerisms, Za'vestri is actually very socially inept, which is precisely why she is so perfectly well mannered. She hides behind propriety to keep from making a fool of herself, and is so very uncertain on how to approach her fellow Ulaya that she comes off as distant rather than deeply desiring of companionship.

~*~ || Captain Jethro || ~*~

The Stepping Stones

Oh whats in a name?
Captain Donaevien Alistair Jethro

My friends like to call me.
I am best known as Captain Jethro or even just Captain, though old friends have been permitted the use of my given name in the past.

Congratulations, its a?
I am most assuredly male.

Baby what's your sign?
My gemstone is peridot, a denotion of excellent huntsman skills.

You legal?
*Laughs* I daresay.

You got a type?
I am what is known as a Ki'Rin

A Lullaby?
Dance With The Devil * Breaking Benjamin

Genetics?
My parents have long left this plane of existence.

Only child?
Still standing? Yes.

All About Love

What creams your Twinkie?
Only the most gorgeous of men.

Your better half?
My left side, I should think - oh, you mean to ask if I have a mate? Oh well then, you need not worry. There's no claim on the Captain you need concern yourself with.

A legacy?
My ship, The Vanguard would be my greatest legacy to date - children?! By the blood of the Krakens, no.

The Little Details

Whats your problem?
Captain Jethro is a formidable leader who is not known to give in to such whims as mercy or forgiveness. His ship is run by some of the best sailors on the seas, but what marks Captain Jethro above others in his station is the sheer loyalty in which he commands. His men are known to love and fear him, but never once has mutiny been whispered of upon dread ship Vanguard. There are, of course, many reasons for this, most of which are not spoken of. To an outsider however, it all seems to do with the fact that Captain Jethro has a presence about him, a power and a strength that is unusual in your average pirate. He is fierce and brutal, to be sure, but there is more to him - a nobility of sorts, a highly educated manner - that marks him a curious man indeed.

What you hiding?
Prince Donaevien was born into complicated life of war and luxury. From a young age, he was trained in the skills of diplomacy and tactics, his early years a mixture of war games and deportment sessions. By the time he was thirteen, he could speak fluently in as many languages as he was years old, could shoot a bird in flight through the eye six times out of ten, and had finally defeated his personal trainer, earning him at last the right to join his father's army - or so it should have been, had fate been kinder.

Prince Donaevien was the seventh son of the King, and his brothers had long gained names for themselves in the army, among the guilds and even upon the seas. There was no glory for a son so long down the line, something the Prince had been shown on many occasions. Coddled by the Queen, who saw no reason for her littlest one to be sent off to play at battle and ambassador, Prince Donaevien was denied entry to the army.

Rather than be discouraged, the Prince concentrated his efforts upon furthering his education in the fields of Healing and the art of stealth - the latter more for entertainment than anything else. He knew he would not be permitted to join the King's Army and his stealth practice would never see real challenge, but it kept him spry and gave him joy, so he saw no reason to desist.

It was perhaps a good thing that the Prince refused to give up on his physical training despite the Queen's disapproval, for on the eve of the Prince's seventeenth birthday a solemn message reached the castle to inform the King and Queen that their sons Farendel, Cairenor and Asenzel had been slain in battle. With his three eldest sons fallen to the enemy, the King was sent into a deep rage, while his wife collapsed into a depression that no healer seemed able to remedy.

Prince Donaevien was sent to his brother Oushen, the newly named General of the King's army, and was tasked with assisting in the war front and bring justice and vengeance for his fallen brothers. For five years, the war carried on without any sight of ending. Naval Captain Remedor was slain during the third year, leaving but two of the Kingdom's Princes still available to inherit the throne, for a battle wound to Oushen left him incapable of siring heirs of his own.

Politics and civil unrest were making life difficult for the King, who would not call an end to the war and was losing more people than the army could properly replace. Donaevien, by that fifth year of war, was a General and favored war leader, having quite literally fought his way to Oushen's side and equality of rank. The men of his squadron respected him, not just for his skills as a warrior and tactician, but for his willingness to get down into the muck with the bravest of men, go beyond the trench lines and drag back the wounded. Prince Donaevien fought for every man who served him, and in turn, they fought ever harder for him.

Nearing twenty two, the youngest Prince of War chose four of his bravest and most loyal soldiers to join him on a mission behind enemy lines to capture and detain an opposing Prince - not just any Prince, but the future heir to their enemies throne. Unlike Prince Donaevien's father, the King of the opposing lands had but two sons, and could not spare his eldest in any manner.

The mission was partially successful; the opposing Prince was captured, and by Donaevien's orders was taken away and detained, despite the reluctance of his men. For he was injured and could not join them on the return - but they obeyed, and a stand still settled as Donaevien was captured and negotiations to trade the princes went underway.

The King knew that Xaphenel was the only son he had who could inherit his throne if Donaevien was sacrificed, but he also knew that Xaphenel was older and more trained for the role, as Donaevien had never been meant to inherit. So he played his hand and made it clear his youngest son was disposable, to the point the Queen's depression could take it not a moment longer, and she hung herself in the royal bedroom. Still, the King remained relentless, refusing to give up his one advantage.

In the end, a treaty was signed at last, for it was by then clear beyond a doubt the King would sacrifice Donaevien and the opposing nation would still be without its Prince. Peace came at a mighty price, and Donaevien was twenty-six when he finally set foot in his father's castle once more.

He was not the boy the servants remembered, and he was more scarred than his soldiers recalled, but his head was high as he took his place beside his brothers after publicly forgiving his father for all he had done. For Donaevien knew the unrest of the King's people even if the King refused to face it, and by declaring he had gone behind the lines knowing he would be sacrificed for the good of the people, he made it known he did not hold the King at fault, which settled some, but caused a greater discord in others.

For two years, there was peace among the peoples of the two countries. For two years, Xaphenel was groomed to take the crown and Oushen began following his mother's path of despondency. For all Donaevien tried, there was no saving Oushen from his despair. He disappeared one day, and though he never returned, it was widely known that he had taken his life, though none could confirm how they knew this so surely.

The people of the King were wary of Xaphenel's rule, fearing he would be like his father, a ruthless warlord willing to sacrifice everything for glory. Whispers reached the King, whispers of a desire to place Donaevien upon the throne instead, but they had reached Donaevien long before his father. On the night the King's assassins descended upon Donaevien's chambers, he and his most loyal soldiers - the four from the original mission, and sixteen more besides - were halfway to port.

They stole the ship destined to be Xaphenel's coronation gift and in so doing, were marked as outlaws and renegades, Donaevien an usurper and traitor. As the years passed and piracy became a way of life, the men changed their names and buried their Prince in mystery as best they could. There was no hiding his bearing, no denying his intellect, but the men did what they could, to make him seem a common captain.

In exchange, the Prince does his best to be nothing but a Captain, though as always he fights for his men as surely as they fight for him, and he will not hesitate to give them what they need when they need it. He will do all he can for them, and just as before, his dedication to them maintains their respect in him.

The Prompt That Won Her:
Analiese had been quite enjoying her game with a brightly colored cousin of Papillu (Her mother kept telling her that butterflies and Papillu were not actually related, and that butterflies really couldnt communicate with Ulaya of any speicies, but Analiese was quite certain that butterflies were just shy because they were so much smaller than everyone else) when the tricky lass settled on a rock that was really more of a hard sand formation. When Analiese pounced, the butterfly of course escaped unharmed, though the same could not quite be said for little Ana.

The sand crumbled under her sudden impact, sending the kit tumbling down a hill. She reached the bottom with a solid fwump, all legs splayed out in awkward directions, her belly flopped in a manner that forced all the breath from her lungs with a woosh. Groaning, Ana just lay there for a moment and promised dire consequences for her butterfly friend when she could breathe again.

After a time, the little one pushed herself back to her paws and looked around. She couldn't find her friend, but she did realize she was someplace she hadn't been before. This was very much off the paths her parents had beaten down for her and her siblings to travel upon, which of course meant it was against the rules to be here - and probably dangerous, too!

Lowering herself back to her belly, Ana let out a low whine of unhappiness as she gazed up the hill she'd tumbled down, realizing just how hard getting back up it was going to be. Her ears flicked back and forth anxiously, listening for any indication her father might have noticed her game took her off the paths, and hoping he wouldn't notice before she could get back up and pretend she'd been on the path the whole time.

Looking around for an easier way up, Ana spotted what looked like an easier slope and rose out of her crouch to pad towards it. It was some time before Ana realized that the slope was a bit farther than she'd initially expected, but she imagined that would be fine - right up until she heard something snap behind her.

Paniced, Ana whirled around, fur fluffing in fear as she instantly babbled, "Daddy I'm sorry, I didn't mean to -" Ears perking forward sharply when she realized her father hadn't creeped up on her wayward self, Ana blinked in confusion. "Daddy?" She repeated, now hoping it was him, and not some stranger lurking behind some grass or rocks.

When no answer came, Ana began backing up, casting quick glances up the hill as she did so before stating as bravely as she could, "My Daddy is just up that hill, so don't you try anything funny, whatever you are...he'll eat you!" She declared, feeling quite certain that would scare off anyone - even though her father was hardly likely to actually eat somebody.

Deciding that was enough bravado, in case whoever or whatever it was decided to doubt her Daddy would eat them, Ana started scrambling up the hill as fast as her little paws could carry her. There was a rustle in the grasses, and she paniced. No longer afraid of getting in trouble about leaving the path, Ana decided a scolding was much better than becoming somebody else's dinner.

"DADDY!" Ana screamed, as loud as she could muster as she made it halfway up the hill, "DADDY HELP!" she cried, not doubting for a moment that her father would came and save her. After all, thats what Daddy's were for!
