Yui wasn't a god, she was actually an AI created to interact with the players and assist them, though she ended up just watching the players, and see every one of them die. She was attracted to Kirito and Asuna because they seemed happy and weren't feeling sad or angry for being trapped there, so she sought them out because she liked them. After being "deleted", she just remained in Kirito's Nerve Gear. Though I am aware this was all explained in the anime, I was just refreshing your memory on what exactly Yui is.
