He re-established his footing on the sand and lazily grinned "And people say I'm possessive. Judging on twitter though, I think some people would be surprised that you don't have one yet." There was a playful bounce in his tone as he put on a fairly silly voice, his good mood back again. "Jordan Jordan, Rep's being meaaan again, make him stop."
Another affectionate squeeze. "If it was anyone but you they were whining at, I'd be offended."

"They have no idea, do they?" Jordan grinned. "I feel like they want me to say Bad dog, down! sometimes." He nudged Rep playfully with his elbow; then his tone turned a little more serious. "Makes me feel good that you trust me enough to listen."

"They have notta clue, but its sort of nice that they suspect how close things are, however vague their grasp is. I was more upset when they thought it was just about the sex."
He chuckled. "If you did say that though I can't guarantee I'd keep a straight face, or keep my thoughts entirely on the scolding for long either."
"But aye. Feels just as good having someone willing to give me a nudge when I ******** up, even when you don't need to if you didn't want to. Its a lot of hassle, you aren't my mum or whatever, you are my .." the usual hesitation at a word he couldn't get his mouth around "..boyfriend. You should just be basking in like, all the good things with no hassle. I appreciate it"

Jordan laughed. "Not sure I could either. That wouldn't be a scolding long."
His smile gentled. "Yeah, well. Worth it." He was good at finding words, most of the time, but no more were really needed.
He leaned on Rep comfortably for a few minutes, just enjoying the closeness as the water washed over their feet, not thinking much. Ferros purred like an idling engine in the back of his mind. After a while, Jordan stirred. "You said you saw a dolphin?"

Enjoying the closeness, he let the conversation meander on, nodded subtly. "Aye. The other day. Like when I was out on the beach. It was stuck on the sand. I guess the tide went out on it a bit. I dunno if it wanted to die or if it just got cocky and ******** up."
He squinted into the distant fog of the ocean, as if looking for it. "But like, I helped it anyway. Just in case it wanted another chance." He hadn't been able to help Killzone, but somehow it helped just to help anything, anyone, to pay it forward however he could. "I like to think it made it."

"I hope so." Jordan looked out towards the horizon, into the mist and spray. "Gave it another chance, anyway. That's cool." One more little shove back against death. Even if death walked with them constantly, none of them would make it easy.
Can we go inside? Ferros asked plaintively. Your feet are getting all wet.
Jordan snorted. "Ferros is bitching about my feet being wet. What are you going to do next time I have a chance to go surfing, huh?" he said to the weapon. "You'd better not sulk all day."

"So if you see one out there, tell me. Cause it might be my one." he nodded sagely.
Rep raised a brow at surfing. "I forgot you used to do that. I totally never have. I just dive and s**t. Surfing would probably be pretty damn fun." Though he wasn't sure why he found the mental image of Ferros complaining about wet feet so undeniably hilarious.
Tracey offered sternly, not approving of Rep making fun of the hammer in any capacity.
Rep just smiled lazily. "Well we'd better get you indoors and dried off then before you rust."

"I will," Jordan agreed. He looked over at Rep. "Never tried surfing? No beach access? You should try it, adrenaline junkie," he teased.
"It would be terrible if I rusted," he agreed solemnly. Ferros huffed grumpily in the back of his mind.

"Well next time you go I'll have to tag along." he said amicably. "Maybe you can teach me."
"And aye, it would, wouldn't want to put that fire out either. I need that." he had to fight back the urge to laugh, grinning toothily as Tracey SIGHED loudly at him. He added as an afterthought. "Sorry Ferros but winding you up is worth it for Tracey's throwing a strop in my head."

"Deal," Jordan said, and pulled Rep into a hug, smiling.
He laughed as Ferros grumbled louder. "Two for the price of one, huh," he said, and disentangled himself enough to turn and start back up towards where he'd left his boots. "My feet are getting cold, though."

Rep hugged back with enthusiasm before following along behind along the beach, Tracey fuming in his head but not with any real maliciousness. He seemed glad more than anything else to be able to worry about something that wasn't Ro.
"My feet are never cold." Rep added, stepping around a beached jellyfish with exaggerated carefulness. "Why I'm the best person to have in a bed."
