Melvin was oddly quiet. Rin was not about to complain about this fact however as she finally reached his door and then looked over at him and walked him right up to the door knob and waited there expectantly.

Melvin just stayed there, his keys in both hands, looking at her, then at the door, and back at her, much in the same way a cat would expecting it's owner to preform door-opening magic.
Open the damn door!
"Oh!" He said, and leaned to the side to try opening the door. Considering he had a hard time just seeing Rin hold up a few fingers, he missed the keyhole a few times before it slid in, and then opened.
Inside, Melvin's room was immaculate. Everything was organized though without labels. His bed was neatly folded and Allan, the worn Alien plushie was sitting on the pillow. There was no dust, no stray hairs on the floor, and the floor was pristine. The dust bunnies had long since died out, and the spiders migrated across the planes to other rooms.
"Oh, your shoes." Melvin pointed out, not wanting her to drag dirt everywhere. Yes, Melvin was requesting the person who had carried him all the way here to be mindful of tracking dirt in his room like a true gentleman.

Rin peeered around curiously, about to march in when Melvin made his sudden request...
Her stern look at least did not last too long, quickly melting into disturbingly sweet as she stomped her feet vigorously outside the door... and then entered with shoes still attached to approach his bed and dropped him there. How's that princess?

Melvin looked at her, wondering why she was glaring at him. "What?" He spent a lot of time on that floor, and her shoes were probably dirty. Really, he'd have a mat at his door but he hadn't had leave yet.
Smiling again, she stomped her feet, and he was relieved as she then carried him into the threshold and then dumped him on his bed. With a bit of a bouce, he laid there before rolling to his side. "My bed." Yay! No more sleeping on a chair. Mmmm. Nice warm, clean, soft, bed.
He rolled over to just lay face down into his pillow. A muffled 'Thanks Rin' was given.

Okay, Rin had to admit. That was pretty ******** adorable. The passive agressive false smile she put on melted away into a genuine one, "No problem."
She was about to turn and leave when she'd noticed Allan. Hellooo~ What's this then? She attempted to sit on the side of his bed and scoot over nonchalantly towards it.

Melvin wanted to make a bed angle, and stretched out to then move his arms, but they hit something mid-flap. Turning his head, he looked at Rin and then at Allan, and slowly turned to sit up.
"That's Allan." He said, fixing his glasses a moment before deciding to take them off and set them on his nightstand. "Just....ya know. Keepsake." Not like he wished him goodnight before going to bed or anything.

"Allan... the... Alien?" Rin tried to clarify, completely ignoring the fact Melvin just accidentally popped her in the butt during his efforts to make an angel in his bedsheets.
"Can I see him? I promise I'll be gentle"

Melvin recalled an argument he got into over his sister about her wanting to see Allan, and his major rebuttal being that no girl could touch him, EVER, due to cooties. That he was a boy toy, and not for girls.
Despite being much older, he was actually seeing this as a legit reason that no one should touch the plushie, but considering she had carried his sorry a** all the way here, he was making an exception.
"Okay..." He said, wary. "...but only if you're gentle. He's very old." Reaching over, he picked up the Alien plushie and handed it over to her. He was once a brilliant black, but years of washing and love had worn him away to a aged gray. His stuffing inside was also a bit lumpy in places from the cotton filling moving about.

Rin very carefully turned Allan over in her hands inspecting his entire form for signs of design and possible weaknesses. Not maliciously of course, just... maybe she can attempt her own in the future or help if anything happened.
She smiled and gently hugged it to herself, "You're just lucky it's an alien and not a face hugger~" she playfully threatened.

He took his pillow, hugging it as he watched Rin inspect it, a bit aware that he might be sure how to handle any judgements she made on the plushie. In the end, Rin gave it a simple hug, and he took that as a compliment that Allan passed the test of still serving his purpose - to comfort.
At the comment, he smiled, his cheek resting on the lumpy pillow he was holding in his lap, and just continued to watch her holding Allan.
"You didn't get to bring anything from home to here, did you?" Considering she was from an asylum, he didn't know if she brought anything there and then to here.

Rin looked to Melvin While still holding Allan close, she looked deep in thought at first and then seemed to remember something, "There is... one thing; a sweater." She turned a surprising shade of pink having admitted that.
"Everything else though..," there was an amused hint to her tone, "I dunno why I thought I needed to pack a stockpile of toothpaste and cleaning supplies... so I packed a lot of that sort of thing, an iron, and got dressed in a brand new change of clothes. Looking back, I think I was just a bit out of touch with reality still."

He had to smile at that one. A sweater, of all things.
"Just a normal sweater, or ..was it made by someone?" He wondered why she would keep just one particular article of clothing. He had been torn what to bring considering he would never be able to come back for them. He had spent a good few hours staring at his duffel bag wondering if he could fit in this thing or that.
"I spent a long time packing. If I knew we wouldn't have had electricity, and if I could have pulled out all my money that I saved up, I would have. I guess some of it was really silly to bring. I just wasn't sure where I was going."

"I... honestly don't know. I just know that it belonged to my mom and my dad gave it to me," Rin still looked a bit embarassed admitting that to the new guy. "It helped me sleep at night," there was a bit of a wilt to her tone before there was a slight change to the subject. She attached herself to it.
"Neither was I, I was packing expecting almost an apocolypse I think. Buy things I need with my extra soap and toothpaste," she laughed boisterously. "Instead, I just have a lifetime supply of my own now."

He set his pillow back down behind him and slowly laid back down, feeling too tired to sit up. It was odd, but he always felt people were the most chatty right before they went to bed.
"I don't know what I was thinking when packing. Bring clothes. Shampoo. Laptop. It was like I was packing to visit a relative, not to some mysterious place that might just be a tent in the middle of the desert."
He stared at his ceiling. "I was unprepared for a lot of things." Like saying goodbye.
"What happened to your mother, if you don't mind me asking?" He still was looking up at the ceiling.

Rin liked that the topic was drifting.. drifting and then suddenly right back to it. She frowned and simply noted, "She died." That was all there was to it she decided before giving Allan a slightly tighter squeeze.
"Not much can prepare you for this place anyway."
