Ana ran a hand through her long red hair then changed her attention back on Nikolai. If you must know I'm on a uh...trip. She said with a small smile after thinking for a moment. Just then, Maverick whinnied as Ana turned around to look at him. hey boy...what's the mat- She was about to ask her horse before she looked at rain. You... you look familiar girl... She said holding out her hand as the horse nudged her hand then Anastasia rubbed her head. I swear I've seen you at the stables before....

When the princess turned to Rain, Nikolai looked at her curiously. "'The stables'?" he asked, slipping his bare hands into the pockets of his jacket. His gloves were in his bag and he did not want to bother digging for them at the moment. "Either you're the one that's been breaking into my stables or you're mistaking my mare for another. I only ever keep Rain at home." He pat his horse on the neck and kept his hand there as he returned his attention to Anastasia. Ana bit the inner side of her lip, looking curiously at the grey mare as she ran her hand up and down the horse's neck. Accidentally bumping Nikolai's hand, then pulling it away to her side. She then looked back at Nikolai and scrunched her eyebrows. The stables as in the pa- never mind. But no sir, I have not been the one supposedly breaking into your stables. I would never do such a thing. She said then gave a short exhale. Well thank you again for getting me down. Unfortunately I probably wasn't what you were hoping to catch correct? She smiled charmingly then walked over to Maverick's side and slid her foot into the side, then swung her leg over and grabbed the reins. Goodbye. She said then clicked her tongue and Maverick started to trot through in the other direction.

"No, I don't think you would," he said, referring to breaking into his stables. "You're welcome! And no, you weren't, but it was a pleasant surprise." He smiled and watched Anastasia climb up onto Maverick and start to leave. s**t! Nikolai thought, getting onto Rain as he tried to come up with a reason for him to follow her. "Wait!" He and Rain easily caught up to the princess and kept pace with her. "I hope this isn't too forward, but would you at least allow me to accompany you out of the forest? Ana blinked when she heard Nikolai yell out so abruptly. She tugged on Maverick's reins a bit as he slowed down to a walk so she could talk to him. Raising an eyebrow quizically at him at him before she listened to what he had to say. She cocked her head a bit to the side. I appreciate you concern for me, but I'm capable of myself.. at least I hope so now. And you should know that it could take afew days to get out of the forrest. Id like to get to another kingdom. She said then picked up the pace a bit. I wouldn't want to keep you from any family or duties you may have. But if you really must, may I atleast know your name? She asked him after turning her head to look at him then back ahead.

His thoughts drifted back moments ago to when he found her hanging from a tree. "I am familiar with these woods," he told the red-head truthfully. He and a few of his friends would often hunt in them when they did not have work to do. "And I have nowhere to be. At least, not for a while. I'm on an extended holiday right now so if you're going to another kingdom, this would be an excellent opportunity for me to do a bit of travel with unexpected company." Nikolai smiled again and extended his right hand toward Anastasia. "My name is Nikolai. Ana had decided to slow Maverick down again so she coul listento Nikolai. She realy wanted to get moving, not talking to someone she didn't know. After listening to him speak, she paused looking down at his outstretched hand. She didn't know whether to trust him or not. He did save her from the trap, but he could always be planning. Studying his face for a moment, he looked genuinely sincere and nice. She extended her hand and shook Nikolai's large hand with her small one once and smiled a little before pulling away. Ana. Nice to meet you NikolaiShe sai then rested her hands on the top of the saddle in front of her.

He did not want to let the princess out of his sight, but at the same time he did not want her to reject him already. After what seemed like ages, she finally accepted his hand. "Ana," he repeated, making a mental not to not call her by her full name. Not that it would be difficult since he would most likely never call her by her name, anyways. Nikolai smiled and returned his hand to the reins. "Shall we get going then? Ana could see he was thinking to himself for a minute or two before he spoke again. Ana smirked at his remark about their traveling speed. Then ends of her lips curved up into a small smile as she made one subtle movement with her foot against Maverick's side and took off. Ana whipped her head back around to face the front and held onto the rein's tightly. Maverick, being a stallion that he was, was incredibly fast. Holding on a bit more as Maverick leaped over logs, fallen trees, and glanced to the side just to see a spray of colored leaves fly up. She looked back ahead and smiled to herself noticing just how far back Nikolai was. She half expected him to understand what she was doing. She loved to race, and she was actually quite good at it.

He blinked in surprise before seeing the way the princess looked back at him. She wants to race me, he thought, smirking as he leaned closer to Rain's ear. "What do you think, girl? You up for a little fun?" Nikolai patted Rain on the neck before whispering, "Let her buck." He had learned that line from the American movie Hidalgo and loved how the horse would reach breath-taking speeds after its rider said those words. Nikolai had taught Rain to do the same so right after the phrase left his mouth, the grey mare reared up on her hind legs before chasing down Anastasia. Nikolai grinned as he and his horse slowly caught up to the red-headed princess. Ana glanced to the side momentarily to see if Nikolai had caught up yet, and she wasn't surprised really to see him and Rain right next to her. She looked back ahead, seeing they were on a clear path now of no trees in the way. She gradually stood up a bit as racers would on the track. Ana forced a little pressure down on her right foot against Maverick and he instantly responded by huffing and pushing himself even harder as he started to push a few feet ahead. To anyone viewing them from the side, Both Rain and Maverick, with Ana and Nikolai on them, would appear like a blur of grey and black. As obvious as it was they were going higher speeds than normal, more than likely because they had trained like this before. Ana smiled to herself, enjoying the time of racing with Maverick against her new traveling companion.

While he did not want to admit defeat, he did not want to push his mare too hard after weeks of doing no more than riding into town. "You win!" he called out, hoping Anastasia had heard him and would slow down as well. "And you did wonderfully." He pat Rain on the neck before reaching into his saddlebag for a few blocks of sugar. He leaned forward and fed them to his horse before looking toward the princess. Ana heard the lovely sound of "You win!" and smiled to herself. Clicking her tongue, Maverick slowed down to a trot, then Ana pulled the reins on the left side to make him turn around. She was a little bit ahead of Nikolai since he slowed down but Maverick and herself easily made it back to them.Thank you. Maverick and I race around all the time at a makeshift course. Your mare is quite impressive as well. She said then reached down to flip open her large shoulder bad and pulled out a crisp red apple and leaned forward to present it to Maverick. He huffed and happily took it within his mouth and devoured it in a few bites.

When the princess mentioned the makeshift course, Nikolai immediately remembered watching her from afar and being impressed by her stallion's skill then as well. Why didn't I think of that before? he wondered, now even more proud that Rain had been able to keep up. Hearing Anastasia's compliment, Nikolai smiled. "Thanks.
