He pondered the question briefly. It was a good question. Nkosi had never even seen an elephant from very close, and while he understood them as very massive, he might over or under estimate their size! "I dunno. Maybe as big as a lion!" Probably overestimated. He was getting a little impatient about finding one! though he had only actually been looking for a couple minutes. Then, after what felt like an eternity, Nkosi grinned. "Ah-ha!" And he hurried off. There it was!
... Frankly, it was a little underwhelming. Partially buried in the dirt, looked pretty easy to break for someone older. He could probably fit inside if he squeezed. Still, he grinned widely, deciding to make the best of it. "Look at that!" The brown cub began to walk all around the skull. It only had one tusk attached, somewhat short. The other seemed like it had been broken off. "It looks like it has one eyes." He wrinkled his nose, amused.

wooga Paes I'm going to let Paw know we're ready for her gal. You can make another post in the meantime while we wait though. 83 Briac cocked his head at the skull. It certainly wasn't as big or as impressive as he had originally thought. The black cub had been expecting it to be as big as...well...at least bigger than this. But it's small size didn't make it any less interesting. He pawed after Nkosi, staring at it in wonderment. Where had the other tusk gone? Could they fit inside? Briac stared in the skull's eye sockets. He stuck his tongue out and made a disgusted noise. "It smells icky." He remarked feeling the remaining tusk with his paw. It felt smooth and as hard as a rock, seemingly impossible to break. Whatever had broken off the other tusk must have been really strong.

She'd heard them from quite some yard away, giggles and curiosity overflowing from their small bodies. It had stirred from her sleep, and into a very alert and focused. She was no longer tired, not even slightly. No, now she was focused on finding the owner's of those voices. She knew it was highly unlikely for pups to out this far, obviously alone. So who was out here?
Her mind muddled over that fact while she tried to pick up a scent, and then all at once it hit her.
Lion cubs.
In the Graveyard.
Her eyes grew wide with worry as she picked up her pace, trying her best to hold onto the faint scent she had gotten ahold of. It was now her duty to find them, or else who knew what would become of them! But she couldn't let others onto her plan. She knew quite well that lions were not welcome here, and siding with one would likely mean her own head.
Sadly she would have to do this alone, and quickly.

"It does, sorta, doesn't it?" Nkosi agreed, once he had taken a good whiff of it himself. "Maybe it's brains are still inside." An adult would happily write that possibility off, given how long this skull must have been here, but he was just a cub, so to him it seemed perfectly valid that brains would still be inside the skull.
He tilted his head, and hopped up onto the skull. It didn't give way beneath him, which was clearly very good! "I wonder if we can dig the rest of it out!" Despite now being in a better vantage point, Nkosi still failed to see the approaching hyena.

Subira could only see one of the two lions she had caught scent of. It seemed to be speaking to someone else, though the other was beyond Subira's current line of sight. Picking up her pace, she jogged ever closer to the cub. Though she slowed down once she'd made a considerable amount of distance. "How about we not try to found that out little one?" Subira called as she trotted up next to the cub, her eyes and demeanor relaxed and non defensive. "This is a dangerous place for one so small, what is it that brings you to such a place?" She smiled, all the while glancing all around her to prevent any unwanted surprises. "Surely your parents have told you the dangers of this place ...." Glancing down she finally caught sight of the knotted boy below, "Oh, there you are, I suppose you two are on some type of adventure?"

Briac stared up in horror as a hyena came up to the skull and began speaking with Nkosi. He opened his mouth to shout for his friend to run, but no sound came out. The cub cringed with fear as the hyena turned its eyes on him. He knew they shouldn't have come out here! Now they would be kidnapped and served up as dinner to some horrible stinky hyenas! Oh, what would their parents think? Then again, the hyena didn't make any movements to lunge at him or snap at Nkosi..."Are you gonna eat us?" Briac managed to squeak out, paws still trembling slightly.

He had no idea why, when the hyena came up to him, he wasn't immediately worried. If it had been any other of the beasties, Nkosi's reaction or lack thereof might prove fatal. But all he did was tilt his head and stare, blankly, as the hyena sort of scolded him, sort of tried to look friendly. Perhaps that was why. Nkosi had never even seen a hyena before, and the body language of this one was screaming not-a-threat-please-don't-fear-me.
"Uh, yeah–" He glanced down at Briac, who looked considerably more horrified than he felt. "Hey! Back up a bit, you're scaring him." Intentionally or not! He frowned, and hopped down from the skull to sit by the other cub.
This hyena might end up solidifying a non-fear of the graveyard in Nkosi, really, rather than effectively warn him off. "Yeah, we're on an adventure. We wanted to see a big elephant skull." He glanced at the one he'd just vacated. "But that one's a little small." Grand words, considering it was still alrger than himself.

Subira did her best not to giggle at the first cub's question, mostly because it was a pretty smart question to ask. But also because, she just thought they were so adorable. "No little one, i'm going to eat you. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be here, there are those who wouldn't waste a second before taking a nibble out of your little leg."
Trying her best to get her point across without coming off as terrifying, it was a bit of a shock when the other cub so boldly told her to back away. She stood for a moment at a loss for words, before taking a step towards the bolder cub, and backing away from the fearful one. "My my, someone is a bit big for his britches isn't he? You could at least be polite to those who are so careful to respect you." Subira looked slightly hurt as she looked over the cub with curiosity, until he finally hopped away to sit near his friend.
"AN ELEPHANT SKULL YOU SAY?" She took in a gasp of breath, as though she were actually surprised by their search. Following the cub's glance she snorted at his response, sending herself into a small insane fit of giggles.
"Well why didn't you say so? This is the elephant graveyard after all!" Lowering her head to the ground a bit, she glanced over at the cub's and whispered slow and low. "I don't suppose you two would be up for a deal of sorts would you? You could even call it a bet..."

Briac moved to stand a little bit behind Nkosi, green eyes watching the hyena warily. She had said that she wasn't going to eat them, but he wasn't going to write off getting "a nibble out of his legs" from the stranger as a possibility. Though he did wonder what her bet would be. And they had come all this way. It would be a shame to leave without actually seeing a real giant elephant skull. The black cub glanced quickly at Nkosi, leaning close to whisper in his friend's ear. "Do you think we should do it?" Briac asked, his eyes never leaving the hyena. Someone had to stay vigilant, after all.

"Just looking out for a friend." Nkosi said. He didn't feel ashamed. Because it was just the sort of thing he should never feel bad about! "But thanks for not eating us." He was pretty sure she wouldn't eat them at this point, Nkosi wasn't the most suspicious of cubs. Perhaps it was a fault.
When she gasped he wasn't sure if she was mocking them or what, especially when she started to giggle, and an ear curled back slightly as he glanced at Briac. He wondered if his friend could read his mind. Nkosi's mind would say: hyena laughs are freaky!
But then her attitude changed and let's just say Nkosi was easily ensnared by bets. Very easily. "Yeah!" He exclaimed, even as Briac asked if they should. Then he looked to the darker cub a bit more sheepishly. "I mean- yes, I think we should, sounds fun. What could happen? She said she won't eat us."

Though she admired the young lion's dedication to his friend, she was a little put off by his sense of bravery. It would likely do him quite well as an adult, but for one so young, it was a curse than a blessing. "And that I won't my dears. Besides, I had such a large breakfast my belly is far too full." Again she let out a very insane fit of giggles, far from realizing she might be spooking the younger cubs. "Now then, here's the deal. I will take you to the biggest elephant skull I know of. But in return, you two must promise to never return here. This place isn't for the likes of your feline variety, i'd hate to see you two harmed." Subira frowned sadly as she looked down at the two cubs. "But! Before you agree, I must know your names - I can't take two strangers on an adventure without knowing their names! I am Subira." Dipping her head politely she glanced back up at the two, wondering whether their intrigue would get the better of them. They were cubs ... so her bet was on yes.

Briac's ear flicked backwards a little as the hyena broke out into another fit of giggles. It was starting to creep him out a little. Did all hyenas do that? Or was this Subira, as she had called herself, just crazy? The cub, slightly more emboldened by Nkosi's reassurance, stepped out from behind his friend to stand fully next to him. She couldn't eat them if her belly was full, so he guessed she was safe to be around. Plus Subira was going to take them to see a real elephant skull! That in and of itself was really exciting. This Subira was starting to seem pretty okay in his book. "I'm Briac!" He all but shouted, the adrenaline of fear now turning into the adrenaline of excitement. His siblings wouldn't believe this had happened to him! Of course, Briac would have to make them swear to never tell Mama and Papa, but he was sure he could get them to promise.

Nkosi was pleased to see Briac calming down, and absently nodded in approval to his companion's change in attitude. At the hyena's proposal, he couldn't help but making a show of mulling it over. "You drive a hard bargain." He said. Imagine all the opportunities for exploration and fun they'd be missing out of because of this promise!
"Alright! I'm Nkosi. Nice ta meet'cha."

"Briac and Nkosi, it is a pleasure to meet you both!"Offering the two cubs a soft smile, she turned her back on them for a moment. Before speaking once more. "Now then, we better head off if we're going to get there before dark. Just stay close. Very close." With extra emphasis on the 'very' she nodded her head towards the direction they were headed. "Quickly now, before your parents realize you're missing!"wooga Paes Sorry for the long wait! Did you guys want to RP out the entire scenario or just Subira agreeing to show them one?

Depawsit Oh, good question. I mean, I'm good either way. But if we did RP the whole thing out, I think it'd be nice to do it in another RP. Maybe in the Bonelands forum listed as "BORDER" like this one? You know, seeing as that's where they are now. Wow. Just, wow. They were really going to get to go into the hyena's lands. And it seemed like weren't even as scary as his parents had suggested. Briac was willing to bet that they were easy to beat, especially if they were nice like this Subira was. Not to mention that he had Nkosi to back him up. They could probably take on the whole hyena pack! The black cub took a few steps closer to the hyena, ready to follow her. This was surely going to be quite the adventure after all. Briac glanced back at Nkosi, making sure that his friend was following.
